Cooking a turkey this afternoon.
Karen, I’m sorry to hear you got COVID. A turkey sounds yummy but I can’t imagine turning on the oven here. It was 113 yesterday!
@musicsax 579 miles!! That’s a LOT of walking!
Sometimes I have felt as if I had walked that far.
“7/17 138.4 – 579 miles walked, travelled to the coast for a family day out at the beach, lovely to spend the time particularly with little DGC making sandcastles, paddling in the sea etc. Precious family time

What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
People say keto/LCHF isn’t sustainable. I’ve been doing it for almost 5 years with amazing results!

07/15 -198.2-ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
07/16 -198.8- (Trend weight 200.1) This is getting scary. Another huge jump up on the scale. Again, I stayed under calorie, under carb, met my macros wonderfully. I fit in 50 minutes of walking including inclines in two sets and I did some gardening and plant transplanting. I continued to log every bite. The only negative is that dinner was very late (after 11:00 pm) due to an unexpected phone call from an old friend in Tennessee. Scale was consistent with several weigh-ins. I don’t get it. I understand I am healing from Covid. I guess my weight drops were due to sickness, even though my appetite was fine and I at all my calories and carbs then too, even in the worst of the illness. Interestingly, my fat percentage has been staying the exact same, even with the gains. And my trend weight continues going down, even with this string of “gains”. Hmmm….. Anyway, thanks Jaine for another round! You are bring hope to so many…….
07/17 -DNW- (Trend weight DNW) I couldn’t bare to see another unwarranted gain today and it’s there, I can feel it. Taking a day off the scale and hoping it will turn around. Sticking to the plan.

Day/Weight/Comment
7/16 352.6 – I thought I was really late and I am not lol. This week has been unreal. After the funeral Thursday I decided to go get tested for COVID and the test came back positive. I feel fine though. I just felt like I had a bad cold. Taking the normal over the counter stuff I would take for a cold and halls lemon cough drops for cough and sore throat. I feel 100% better today. I never missed a day of work since I can work from home. But through it all I manage to stay on track with my food!! Thursday after the funeral I went to get me some good old comfort food but I was so much better than the old days!! Beef barley soup! And a small piece of cheesecake and a breakfast bowl I have been eating off for 2 days now. I will finish it off today. I still have barley soup and a little of the bowl left. Exercise has been terrible, but I will do a workout today since I feel up to it. The doctor told me the reason my symptoms were so minor for COVID was because I was double boosted. I was shocked, I tested positive. But my sister kept urging me to see if I had it. So, I went to an Urgent Care facility that does rapid test results. The gov tests were too complicated for this old girl! What a joke! I get to work from home all next week because I have it. I will retest on Wednesday and hopefully it will be negative. Since I still wear my mask everywhere including at work when I am in the office, I do not think I gave it to anyone, but I do know how I got it. Again, as many have posted on here COVID is still out here and whether you are vaccinated or not be careful and take care yourself. If you don’t believe anything else the numbers tell the story. I bet all of you know someone personally who have had and/or died from COVID. Just like millions have died from the flu, millions have died from COVID and many other diseases. So do you best to stay safe is my only message to you all…. Have a great weekend and keep up the good work!
7/17 352.6 – A friend brought me over food from the BBQ I was supposed to attend yesterday. I ate some of the food yesterday and have some from today and it was yummy. I told her not to bring me too many sweets unless they were worth the calories. I specifically told her no cookies that are great, but I wanted the other stuff. So, I had one dessert yesterday. I am having another one today and the last one tomorrow. The old me, would have been eaten all in one day even if they made me sick which unfortunately in most cases I never got sick. But now I probably would which is another reason I can restrain myself. I feel fine today, so I am really hoping I test negative for COVID on Tuesday. I am going to try for Tuesday since it is more convenient for me to go on Tues vs. Wed

My journey … "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"In 2003 Weighed over 600 lbs.My highest weight was 611 in 2003. Weight in 2004 before weight loss surgery was 580. Lowest weight after surgery was 302 in 2007. "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"
In 2005 Weighed under 400 lbs.
In 2007 lowest weight after surgery 302lbs
I joined MFP on March 27, 2010, weighing in at 388 pounds. I was re-gaining weight and stumbled up on it while trying to get back on track. I was determined never to see 400+ on that scale again for me.
I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. In October 2004 I had Gastric Bypass surgery. WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) was the best gift that I could and did give to myself.
Between 2008 and 2010 I gradually gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially after weight loss surgery. I never reached my goal weight of 200 pounds. I still managed to keep off over 65 percent of the weight I lost which is very good and I am very proud of my accomplishments since 2004. It has literally changed my life for the better on all levels. I am here to lose re-gained weight and to reach my initial goal weight. I am in no hurry. I am taking this one day at a time and I am in it for the long haul.
Surgery did not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself, but it was not the easy way out as many people think. Once the honeymoon period is over after the WLS it is up to the patient to keep the weight off.
On August 29, 2011-- I was admitted to Intensive Outpatient Eating Disorder Program to learn how to manage my binge eating disorder effectively. The program is wonderful indeed and will be instrumental in me reaching all of my goals. The focus of this program was how to eat and not diet. Weight loss was not a goal of the program. I gained 20 pounds in program. But I had to get thru a lot of stuff and the time I was released I had stopped gaining. I was discharged from program on December 3, 2011.
My tool is still working for me today. My head is still the issue. SO, the struggle continues. I will never beat myself up again. I fight the fine fight faithfully and positively every day. Because that is what will get me to my goals one day. Even though it may not show up on the scale every day -- Every day I make progress one way or another just by showing up, waking up and trying.
Giving up is not an option for me. Perseverance, Patience, & Positive thinking will help me reach my goals…… and the same is true for you too!! We have the power within us.12 -

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

(First shift is Wednesday !! ) No binges, keep within calories & macros.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, It's took me 75 rounds to achieve my under 130 target; back to maintenance again!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back under 130. A healthy life style has to be a permanent way of life.

Hi, I'm Michelle, 41 yr old mum from Ireland living in Sweden.
I'm in a bit late for this round.... hubby was on holidays from work, kids are off school and I got myself a mild hip injury so I had to take it easy for 2 weeks. Didn't weigh myself or concentrate too much on food but haven't had the rebound i thought I would!

7/18 101.7kg Had to let the daily logging slide as hubby was off work, kids off school and all my cycling and running had over tightened my hip flexors so I had to rest and recover! Goal weight for this round is 101.0kg. My aim is to lose slow and steady so a drop of 0.1kg a day is what I'm hoping to achieve.

7/18 - 155.9 - No idea why my body wants to put on weight. Granted, food has been a little wonky but not entirely unhealthy. Today likely has a little to do with the fact that we FINALLY painted our ceiling beams yesterday and boy are my arms/shoulders SOOOOOOORE. Plus lots of up and down ladders for a leg workout. We have family portraits Wednesday evening that I'm trying to work toward looking okay in. BF and kiddos going to BF's dad's this weekend (out of state), leaving Thursday morning and coming back Monday evening so it'll just be BigBro and I. We both work Thurs, Fri, Mon and he never really leaves his room on weekends so it'll pretty much just be me. I only have to worry about his to/from work and feeding him dinner (which I'm feeding myself so it's not a big deal there). I did force myself out of bed this morning (by reminding myself my actual alarm goes off in less than an hour and I'll be miserable if I let myself fall back asleep) to knock out a nice workout. 5-4-3-2-1 min alternating bike/rower (5 min row, 1 min rest, 5 min bike, 1 min rest, 4 min rower, etc). Feel better now that it's done. Let's see if I can keep this up, though. So long as I can get into bed around 9-930 every night, I think I can force myself up. Thursday might be a challenge since BigBro has to be at work a half hour earlier cutting my workout time short. Plus this week we may get home later Wed night since we're doing sunset family portraits (around 730-8) and that's about an hours drive away. Might call that my rest morning.

Day/Weight/Comment: Reflections on previous day
7/16 - 160.1 (-1.1) - Fighting a headache (probably caffeine deprivation) but family is all better again. Created an interesting fusion meal last night and that was fun. Very healthy and kids loved it. 💧144 oz, 🥗Net under, 💪475 kcals, 👟11,424, ⛑+34 PAI (193).
“You may not be there yet, but you are closer than you were yesterday.” - José N Harris
7/17 - 160 (-.1) - 🎉 Wahoo! If nothing else I was hoping to see that tiny little decimal point fall off today. Down 20lbs & feeling great about that. Celebrating with a day at the lake today. 💧176 oz., 🥗 Gross under, 💪 739 kcal’s, 👟 13,970, ⛑+ 65 PAI (244).
“What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.” - Zig Ziglar
7/18 - 161.2 (+1.2) - Wowsa! I was amped again yesterday! Spent almost 14 hrs at the lake and was actively paddling/swimming just shy of 10hrs. (racing my son + best friend for a fair chunk). Not sure where this burst of energy has come from but I’ll take it. I feel better than I have in at least a month. I was sore while we were still moving + shaking yesterday and today there isn’t a muscle outside of my face that isn’t feeling it! Ate late at Red Robin and treated myself to a big Stella. Once I stopped moving though I was ready to snooze and that’s about what happened as soon as we got back home. Between the muscles, heat and food choices (how late it was to boot) I’m not surprised by the scale but it’ll fall right back off. Scored a never used Vertical Climber for $25 (my goal hitting prize) and can’t wait to pick up this evening. 💧148 oz., 🥗 Net Under, 💪3,245 kcal’s, 👟38,645, ⛑ +75 (262).

7/16: 133.4 - Birthday cake and takeout Indian were the majority of my calories yesterday. Didn’t get my usual workout of Jazzercise, but did take two walks. Great sleep last night!
7/17: 133.6 - Leftover Indian food. Had a couple of good workouts plus we’re washing windows, etc in prep for some house guests. That added a bunch of active points on my watch.
7/18: 133.8 - Still working on that leftover Indian food. Kept calories within target.

Hi All - I'm in for round 4 for me. These challenges are working for me and the support from the group is priceless. The next 10 days will be tough because I'm away from my Peloton and on a working vacation in Florida. I lost a little over 2 pounds last round (did some yo-yo-ing in the middle. I'm hoping to keep the downward trend going, exercising daily, and making/sticking to my meal plans.
SW: 144
7/16: Sa 143.8 - I'll take it. The weekends are when I usually gain the weight back that I've lost during the week (or the past 10 days). Took a vacation day yesterday from work and rode 30 miles on my bike. The thing I changed after my long bike ride was to stay under calories (counting Gatorade and energy gels during the ride) and to avoid the hazy IPA at lunch, which sometimes is my reward after a long bike ride.
7/16 S - 146.4 - Yesterday was a beach day. I got in an open water swim and had lunch and a beer out on the beach. Later I had 2 mojitos and shared sloppy joe nachos with hubby across the street from the beach. Needless to say, I went a bit over my calorie goal and it showed up today on the scale. It only made me resolve to do better today and going forward. Lesson Learned: When eating out, log food/drink BEFORE, not after, eating, and skip the alcohol on beach days. It also made me very tired in the middle of the day.
7/18 M - 144.2 - Did my weekend yo-yo. Stuck to the calorie goal yesterday and got in a strength workout, so getting back on track.

7/16-138.8. Up a pound. Not too surprising since we had salty pizza last night and I went over by quite a bit yesterday.
7/17- 140 ugh. Hoping some of this is water?? But who knows. Weekends are very hard for me to stay on top of everything. I did manage to track and workout yesterday.
7/18 - 138.8. Hopping back in today. Updated my note but didn’t take the time to post over the weekend. Honestly I’m surprised the damage wasn’t worse from the weekend. Was very off track, especially yesterday. So much chaos with the two little ones and no time to work out. We went on a big grocery shop together yesterday and got some seafood I’m excited to have for dinner today and tomorrow. My three year old demanded crab legs when we were at the seafood counter, so he gets those while the rest of us have slightly-more-affordable crab cakes. His tastes crack me up. Kid is a carnivore, through and through.

I went a little off the rails last night, but I think it was ok as I worked a good five hours in the garden transplanting and planting various things. I was hungry and pooped! I did eat more salt than usual—was craving it, so I ate some Triscuits with cheddar cheese. So not as junky as it might have been! We’ve had a lovely rain to water everything in, so I’ve been out weeding this morning, and plan to go tracking (dog tracks, I follow) later. Tracking = lots of walking. In the meantime I think I’ll just sit and read. Enjoy your Saturday!
7-17 - 178.4
Lots of walking yesterday evening while tracking training with two friends and their dogs. We were out for 2 hours, walking most of that through fields. I conked out early last night! Calories were under goal in spite of a piece of lovely peach galette I made from my big box of peaches, so I think this bump is from Friday night. I also made a low-sugar peach-ginger jam—it’s fabulous!—and froze a bunch of peaches for smoothies and whatever in the future. Now I’m off for a short tracking session to work on some weaknesses. Surely all this walking will force some pounds to fall off? Have a lovely Sunday!

07/18 -200.8- (Trend weight 200.2) WTH? Goodbye Onederland! I was under calorie and carb again yesterday. A very high calorie burn for the day. Macros were good but sodium showed a little high due to a frozen dinner. I have not eaten back any caiories. Feeling pretty good. Still a bit of a cough but testing negative finally for the Covid virus. I still don’t get it. Especially since the gains have been higher than the original whoosh after testing positive for Covid. This is not a plateau, it’s a steady gain for no apparent reason. I’m really starting to feel sorry for myself and that usually does not lead me to a very good place.

For those suffering from covid . Hoping you recover quickly . Covid can make you feel like crap. Drink lots of fluids and keep your nutrition up.
As an icu nurse covid is still out there. We still see a few patients a week in the hospital . Most are vaccinated and boosted but they don’t end up on my unit. Last fall / winter when delta hit we were always full and we lost so many and some were young. Yes covid is still out there but each round it is lessening but you still have to be safe.

Hi everyone, I’m in again – this will be round 4 for me. Thanks to @quiltingjaine for keeping this thread going. It is certainly helping me stay motivated to lose a few more pounds before my vacation in August.

7/16 155.2 Took a 45 minute interval training class at my local gym, followed by a 2K row and 30 minutes walking on the treadmill. Have tracked my meals for the entire day so if I don’t eat anything else I should be well under calorie goal.
7/17 155.4 Have started to drink 16 oz. of water first thing each morning. Helps to get to my water goal. Have tracked meals for the whole day – Sundays are bad as we eat too much cheese, did a longer workout trying to burn off a few more calories. Treadmill: 4.85 miles in 75:00 @ 3% incline.

I’m back for round #2! ( I have been consistent before and haven’t seen drops like these. But, I also know it’s usually around 2 weeks is when I have given up in my multiple attempts at weight loss before. This is my first time I have been consistent longer than that in so many years! So I really appreciate this round so far and you folks for this community! 🙏🏻I know it’s not always going to be like this but this just makes me super happy to see the results of all the hard work.
Me too! I am so appreciative of the focus and feedback from coming here every day. Really helps me take it one day at a time and get back on track if I wobble a bit.
