Thank you, at least I'm retired so can get out very early to walk before it's too hot to walk, l feel sorry for DH working climbing trees (arborist) -carrying heavy timber in his heavy protective clothes and helmet. At least his employer allowed them to go home at 1.30 whilst we are having this heatwave. I know lots of places experience these temperatures for much longer than is, but we are just not used to it!! Having to keep an eye on elderly neighbours to keep hydrated etc.2 -

07/15 -198.2-ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
07/16 -198.8- (Trend weight 200.1)
07/17 -DNW- (Trend weight DNW)
07/18 -200.8- (Trend weight 200.2) WTH? Goodbye Onederland! I was under calorie and carb again yesterday. A very high calorie burn for the day. Macros were good but sodium showed a little high due to a frozen dinner. I have not eaten back any caiories. Feeling pretty good. Still a bit of a cough but testing negative finally for the Covid virus. I still don’t get it. Especially since the gains have been higher than the original whoosh after testing positive for Covid. This is not a plateau, it’s a steady gain for no apparent reason. I’m really starting to feel sorry for myself and that usually does not lead me to a very good place.
07/19 -200.6- (Trend weight 200.3) The scale is finally leveling off. There is even a small 0.2 drop today. Maybe it will turn completely back around and wander back into Onederland. I took a long walk of over 30 minutes in my neighborhood with my son last night. The hardest part was my own driveway and my own street due to the steep inclines. The rest of it was broken up between hills, inclines and flat areas. Just random enough to make it possible for me. I don’t think my son was too thrilled but I know he is trying to help me keep my heart strong. He took it all more seriously when he saw me on the heart monitor at home with all the wires. Truthfully though, he needs the movement as much or more than me. He is 5’ 6” and weighs about 306 pounds. His BMI is over 50. He is 26 years old but his autism keeps him from fully understanding the gravity of his situation. I hope to get him out even more. Also, to get him dancing with me again! My blood pressure ran low all day yesterday. About 98/52 most of the day and evening. This morning running about the same again. I have no idea if I should be taking the BP meds when it runs this low. Anyone happen to know anything about that? I’ll also google what I can.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

@deepwoodslady oh Donna, Donna, Donna thank you for sharing such a beautiful aspect of your journey! It warmed my heart so much to read about how you and your son are taking these strides together to support one another and work towards changing your health. It’s not easy to push through the hard stuff but you’ve got the mindset of a champion! I’m giving you the biggest virtual squeeze right now as I wipe some tears from my eyes. You are simply out of this world amazing & I’m so grateful to have crossed paths with you. You give so many people hope and It is my sincere wish that you know that. On days where I want to just excuse it all away I’m going to start slapping myself with your example; “If Donna can do it Jenn then there is no reason you can’t”. I am just amazed by you! Can I get another song?
And I’d talk to the doctor about your blood pressure as they have a better understanding of your overall health. High blood pressure runs in my family but I’ve been fortunate enough to avoid that fight so far (my siblings & parents cannot say the same). I battled low blood pressure when I was pregnant with my youngest and I know how awful that feels. Don’t exert yourself too much if you feel lightheaded. My Mom has vascular disease and has over 20 stints because of it to prevent stroke. It makes her blood pressure incredibly volatile (super high to super low and back). No matter what they do with her medications and surgeries it’s a constant battle. Wishing you all the best on the cardiovascular stuff Mama.6 -

7/16 / 166.4 / Even my husband asked me this morning why my face was so puffy. I had a super long day yesterday- at the final workday corporate event for the Stampede standing on a rooftop patio in hot weather and then a night at the grounds watching live music standing on concrete. Surpassed 20,000 steps again and just did what I needed to avoid heat stroke or dehydration. Off to the lake today.
7/17 / DNW / At the lake and forgot the scale. Supper last night was a nice salad with watermelon and cherries. Got my 10,000 steps and had a nap.
7/18 / 163.8 / Last corporate event for Stampede last night and I went way too hard and hot home way too late. We went and saw Elvis after work today.
7/19 / 165.8 / At the airport to fly back to Ontario to visit my husband's family. Looking forward to enjoying it in the middle of summer as we are usually there more during the shoulder seasons.

7/18: 133.8 - Still working on that leftover Indian food. Kept calories within target.
7/19: 133.4 - Not sure why the slight dip weight-wise because I ate sooo many carbs yesterday. Good workout and good sleep.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Wishing you all the best on the cardiovascular stuff Mama.
@JbeanR0212 Thanks so much for your inspiring words. I'm right there along with everyone else, just doing the best I can with whatever I've been given. My son has severe eating problems due to sensory disorders. He lives on carbs and has always been heavy, even as a young child. I've had to teach him so much, as all parents do. I know it's my job to teach him about good health and how we get there, but there are those challenges..... Of course, I'll never give up on him or his chances for a better life.
I am grateful for the MFP community. I am grateful to this challenge. And I am grateful to you for your kindness and your admiration. You brought a tear or two to my eye today today as well and that makes us blood sisters in the safest way. I'm not a huge country music fan but if the beat is right or it takes my fancy a bit I will dance to almost anything. Try, "Boys Round Here" by Blake Shelton. It's a cute song with the right beat. He's backed up by the Pistol Annie's which his ex-wife Miranda Lambert was the lead in. Enjoy!
