I went horseback riding!! And I was even able to hoist myself up into the saddle without any help.23

I did an L-sit hold on some kind of soft-handled contraption for several seconds! I think it was 7 seconds before my shoulders gave out.
We were supposed to do it on a box but my wrists gave out almost immediately.
With an L-sit hold, you basically hold up your entire body with your arms, which are stretched out below you and your thighs are at a 90 degree angle with your torso.
I weighed myself beforehand so I managed to do this at my big weight of 124kg. Very happy with the way my hand, arm and shoulder strength is progressing. My delts especially are looking amazing.19 -
Did 55 minutes standing while paddle boarding yesterday. did the last 15 kneeling.18

I broke through a five-week plateau. This sounds like a scale victory, but the NSV part is that I successfully did an 8-day diet break, then jumped back into my deficit afterwards despite multiple obstacles (including catching a cold) that could have easily derailed me.
My other NSV is that today I did a full (but of course slightly modified) upper body lifting session, my first since before shoulder surgery, and my pain level was minimal. The light at the end of the tunnel is officially here.
Since my shoulder is nearly recovered, I’m planning a paddle board outing for the weekend, and I can’t wait. I have missed it so much!19 -
Kind of weird but, I thought I had a dentist appointment today. Walked in confidently and said “‘I’m your 11 o clock “ they were like “wow, you look so different. Did you do something to your hair? Something is different…” I was literally at the wrong office. lol. So , they were so kind and got me in and out. I got to see the lady who they thought I was ( they called me her name and she walked in as I was walking out and said I’m xxx). And I can see it. I could see the confusion. She just looked like a * regular size 40 ish year old woman*
How is that a NSV? I was not the fattest person in the room… there is nothing memorable about my appearance… just any 40 year old lady.
The second one is… do you have any idea how hard it is to get help at Home Depot or Lowes as a fat 45 year old lady? It’s a real problem getting help when you are invisible. Now… as a not so fat 45 year old lady… I had no problem getting help today. Extra help. Extra courteous. If you know, you know…22 -
While I was at the cottage I ran into a neighbor that I hadn't seen since last summer. I was walking and she drove by and stopped her car to say hello and tell me that I looked so amazing that I am just glowing. She told me that she told another cottage neighbor this and that I look so much happier too. She didn't say that I'd lost weight or ask how much I lost which I appreciate because that makes me very uncomfortable. This was very nice to hear; especially, coming from this woman who is gorgeous and takes very good care of herself. We joke that she spends a fortune to look as good as she does, but it's worth every penny. I'll take that kind of nsv any day.18

Today I had to get new tires, and it was taking longer than expected. A lot longer, and I was hungry! So I walked down to McDonald's, (NSV number one, walking half a mile and then back) and got a McDouble and an ice cream cone. 590 calories. and it was enough--that's NSV number two!
Now I'm 40 calories over my goal for the day, after an unplanned fast food dinner, and VERY proud of myself.25 -

While I was walking my dog this morning, she decided she wanted to run down the stairs instead of walk (she often does this, so it's not really an issue). That said, I felt my shorts slip a little bit and had to quickly tug them back up as we got to the bottom of the stairs. I don't think I can fit a size down yet, but it means the shorts I bought at the beginning of summer are a lot looser!20

Sat down last night, wrote down some fitness goals, made some changes to set me up for success and feel like I’m about to get back on track without too much damage done21

I went to lunch with colleagues. They chose Mexican. I had a few chips with salsa and a sensible meal. I ordered 2 tacos a la carte because I didn’t want (or need) the sides. It wasn’t difficult to keep my hand from going back for more chips. Actually, I didn’t even give it much thought. So my NSV is that these changes are becoming much more routine and a way of life.23

I'm not sure this is an NSV, but it felt like one.
Yesterday, I planned to join an organized group bike ride (short, casual pace) that included a stop at an ice cream store (good one!) for a snack. I'd decided that I'd eat some ice cream, but stick with a smaller portion.
It turned out that a "single" in a paper cup, of dark chocolate peanut butter ice cream, was what I'd estimate to be about 1.5 cups: Huge! That's 3 official servings, if one goes by common US packaged ice cream. I estimated it at 690 calories. (It was really good. Having the social experience of a treat with the group was also good. I feel no remorse.)
The NSV: I still needed to fit dinner in my day (short on some nutrient goals). I figured out a satisfying dinner that got me (for the day) pretty darned close to my routine nutritional goals**, and still 16 calories below my maintenance (calorie-banking) net-calorie daily goal. (I'm in maintenance.)
I didn't do extra exercise to compensate, just did things I wanted to do for fun. (Resulted in 392 estimated exercise calories for the day.)
** Above my protein, fat, and fiber minimums; over my veggie/fruit servings minimum and almost to my ideal target (which is 10 x 80g, I was at 720g); over all of the MFP default micro minimums except iron (it'll be fine on average for the week). I was a little above the goals for some things to limit (sat fat, cholesterol - but those will average fine for the week, too).

In the past two days I've had 2 neighbors stop me while I was walking the dogs to ask if I had lost weight. LOVE it when someone notices. But my favorite NSV was Tuesday. I had an appointment to have my hair cut, and was looking through the closet. I pulled out a pair of below the knee pants that I had thought were knee length tights when I first bought them, 5 years ago. Didn't like the look, so they just got stashed in the back of the closet. Tried them on Tuesday and found out they WEREN'T tights, and they looked great on. I was so thrilled that I pulled out some camp shirts I had bought years ago, when our local K-Mart was closing. I love them, they're just cute, print cotton shirts, v neck, button down, and very cool in our hot FL weather. I bought 6 of them in large, and 6 in medium, figuring I'd wear the mediums once I lost weight. And every summer, I'd pull one out and try it on... but couldn't button the last button over my belly, and I had a huge gap in the chest area. Tried one on Tuesday... it was a PERFECT fit! So I wore my "tights" and a camp shirt out for the first time... and felt like a queen!29

Doing the back stroke in the pool….my bathing suit top (think tankini) kept floating up and hitting my chin. At the beginning of the summer it was not doing that because it was skin tight!11

Back at it and finally feeling like my head is in the game. I made 3 dozen protein muffins to freeze for snacks and my favorite breakfast quiche. Logging, weighing in and back in a MFP challenge gets me in the groove.16

My NSV of the day is I got my feet tangled up together while going out the back door because I am as graceful as a drunk duck… and I didn’t wipe out and break my face, my wrist, etc.
How is that a NSV? Well, immediately after recovering my balance I said out loud to myself , “the yoga is paying off!” Because 6 months ago, I would have probably broken something as hard as I came flying out the door… but I got my balance back and I’m glad I did not fall and get hurt.24 -
Work clothes are getting too big, so I ordered a bunch of new stuff online a size smaller. Almost the entire order was too big! My initial thought was "vanity sizing!" and maybe there is truth to that. I guess I just didn't think that the 30 pounds I've lost would dump me down 2 sizes. I can't quite wrap my mind around that.16

They do say that for every 15 lbs you should drop a size so 2 sizes down would be right for 30 lbs.4 -

My experience, too. The drop from US size 12 jeans to size 6 (so 4 sizes inclusive) was way, way fewer pounds than from 20 to 14. I remember one time in there having to buy new black jeans (for an event) a month after having bought the next larger size, when I was losing pretty slowly. I can't remember that was from 10 to 8, or 8 to 6, but it was definitely 10 pounds or less - I believe less.5 -
Not objectively huge volume, but I'm feeling pretty good about 19.5 miles (31km) of on-water rowing, and 41 miles (66km) of biking (hybrid bike, paved trails) in the last week, despite 2 of my normal 6 active days being rained out, so 4 days only. That's in context of being a 66 y/o woman, in maintenance stage of weight management. I could not have done anything remotely like this in my 40s, and it didn't even seem vastly challenging now, TBH. (Building up slowly works.)
Garmin calls that 2,321 calories - maybe not even a decent medium pizza? - so it's a good thing I do this for fun, not calories!14 -

Ha, ha! I’ve been known to bike around my neighborhood for 30 minutes to get 160 calories for a glass and a half of red wine!!!
Don't get me wrong: I'm eating (drinking) those calories. On a Saturday night (tonight), a nice Malbec is in the mix. But if biking/rowing weren't fun, I probably wouldn't do them, realistically. I'm an unapologetic hedonist. Finding fun exercise works for me. It's kind of like a double win: More active fun, bigger calorie budget.9 -

This may be a fact (I'll find out when I get there) ....but I was just letting her know that it was possible to drop 2 sizes with 30 lbs. as she was surprised that the 30 pounds she lost would drop her down 2 sizes. I'm happy to hear that the lower size I go the less I'm going to have to lose to get into the next size.

To follow up: I ordered the next size down of the same clothes (size Med) and I can fit some of the things perfectly and some of the things fit ok, but are just a tad more snug than I'd like (boobs!). I think I can safely say that I've lost at least a size and a half. Also, these are all tops. I haven't hit the world of pants yet. I'll report back after I've had a chance to go through my closet and order some new stuff. I suspect that I've only gone down one size in pants as I tend to carry most of my weight in my hips and thighs.

Congrats! I am right there with you. I lost 2-3 sizes in tops before bottoms started to catch up. Going on eight months in, and I’m finally starting to look more proportional. However my legs and butt are still thick and likely always will be as that’s where I hold both fat and muscle. I tend to get the waist gap in slacks nowadays.

Thanks! Just tried on all my pants... I'm comfortably in one size down from where I started. But, yup, waist gaps, fitted in butt and hips, legs are loose (surprised by that!). I'll just adjust my belt and forget about it for now. All the bigger sizes are headed to the donate pile.

It will be interesting to see the next drop in size. I started in snug 22's and after losing 70#, the 14's fit for the most part. They've gotten a little snug over the last two months. Now that I'm back on track, they should loosen up. I bought a few 12's at the Goodwill and I'm hoping to be in them in the next month or two. I've always been larger on the bottom and since I've been swimming, things seem to have evened out proportionally. I've always had extra room in the waistband and that's just not the case anymore. I call that a win!!11
