I am Dawn. I joined this thread in November of 2018
My usual goal: 16-20 AF per month.
I had 19AF days for July.
Diary style (I post the next morning)
Wednesday August 17 - AF - It was touch and go, I had the blender and all of the stuff out several times. My drinks now are mostly when I have had a really good day, or sweated in my garden and accomplished a lot. I had someone come early for me to get off of work and went to a fantastic lake that is pretty much only reachable by truck. I met up with my friend Fred and we drove in. Resisted drinks while at the lake. My hairdresser fit me in to dye out my grey roots when I got back to town, for me to wash out in 1/2 hour when I got home. So there I was with 27 minutes to spare, super hot day, new Gin to make cocktails with...whew. Really glad that I resisted, I have many more AF days to string together this month still. Planned drinks on Friday, so just one drinks day this week. I can wait.
Thursday August 18 - AF - Went to my favourite lake after work, very very hot here. Knowing that Friday is my "drinks" day, and that I will be working a split shift Friday was enough motivation not to have drinks after the lake on Thursday. I often fall asleep on my floatie, I may have, and then...I felt my finger being pulled. A turtle was trying to eat my finger. I was like "hey turtle!!" Haha, fingers and toes up on the floatie : - ) Didn't break the skin or anything, and didn't hurt at all.
I made myself a yummy drink with cherry extract and slim10. Yes, it really would have tasted better with my new pink gin and new cherry liqueur from the distillery in Kimberley, but still good.
This is my "selfie" coming back from the lake (yeah, I jump in my car like that)
This is my "ride"
This is my fave lake for floating

wow @dawnbgethealthy the pictures are great
Today DH closed up shop early and we went to one of our favorite irish pub's. I kept my beer on the lighter side and 2 glasses. Then indulged in a beer nap when I got home.
Anyway, tomorrow we will be taking turkey dinner to my mom's LOL Long story short my DH really likes turkey. Every year around thanksgiving turkeys go on sale so I buy several. One/two for the holidays and one for DH birthday. Well this year we had covid on his birthday so we did not celebrate. And now it is do or toss this frozen bird. We decided to 'do' hence turkey in the summer. I am going to cook it early in the am. Then we are taking all of it to my mom's house so we don't get it real hot in there.
@MissMay we are all waiting for an invitation to that new dig you are going to move into LOL5 -
@Lilylady3k beautiful Granddaughter pic 🥰3

Ok, is it just me or does @dawnbgethealthy look really HOT in that bathing suit?
DAWN you are a rocking 60's hottie! Keep up whatever it is your doing, cause your doing it well.5 -
Thank you @lmlmrn
Yup, it is officially SOLD as of yesterday.
As soon as I find a new place down there you will be the first to know.
Realtor brought over the sold sign ti hang at the end if the road. She also brought over citrus beer for us all to celebrate. No biggie, had half a cup and stopped after that. But I will calculate in into my month.

Yesterday while I was swimming I was really craving a drink. I’m not sure why. It passed by the time I was done swimming. 🤷🏻♀️
8/17: AF
8/18: AF I traveled about an hour yesterday to go to a different grocery store. A food paradise if you will. (I went for the cheese.) They had a very large alcohol section and I’m assuming some good AF options but it was so big and overwhelming, I just skipped it. And I likely would have ended up buying alcohol. Just didn’t want it.
8/19: AF

@tmbg1 sorry you are feeling sad about the college drop-off and dealing with other issues. Hope you feel better soon. @MissMay great job limiting yourself to one glass. @joans1976 good job skipping the alcohol department! I was supposed to have my procedure last week and after being AF for 6 days it was cancelled that morning due to illness. I am prepping all over again for a procedure next week. Will be the most AF days I have had in a LONG time, which is a good thing.7

Friday August 19 - 2 drinks - I really felt it after 5 AF days as compared to drinking every day for 9 days. Of course my belly is distended to about 5 months pregnant the morning after drinks. Haha, maybe I will take a photo of that...not

Hi, all. Gorgeous photos, and damn Dawn you rock.
Sad times here. My mom didn’t make it to the pacemaker appointment. She died very quickly on Sunday at home. Stepdad called me as soon as EMS arrived and I was there with him for the last 20 min of chest compressions. It was intense. Did all they could do. She had no funeral/burial plans. I had just told my brother the week before that I didn’t think it was possible to do the church service she wanted because she hadn’t been a member for decades. Long story and lots of help from friends— we did her service yesterday and I think it was what she wanted. It was beautiful. Today with my brother and stepdad’s kids we emptied her storage unit which has been an albatross on his neck. I have a notebook where I write what day it is at the top of the page because I have been in a complete daze. Not nearly enough sleep. Some days AF but not others. Haven’t tracked anything. Wore the same dress for 2 days because I stayed over with him at their home until other sibs got here and could be with him.
The whole thing was more difficult than I thought it would be. It will take a little time12 -
@ahoy_m8 - Thinking of you. Take care of yourself. Sending lots of ((HUGS)) your way ... it is very difficult losing a parent no matter the circumstances or age.
@MissMay - Can't wait to see what life has for you in the future ... looks like you are starting a new journal for your next phase.
@dawnbgethealthy - GREAT pics! As always you look great and the lakes looks so serene & peaceful. Must be nice floating out there.
@tmbg1 - Don't know if this is your last child to leave the nest but empty nest is real. Hope that you move through the current issues and find something that is fulfilling as well as enjoy your child's experiences as they are in college. We really had fun visiting and tailgating at football games with our kids and getting to know their friends. Good luck!6 -

I am in a bad place with my best friends birthday coming up, she passed away in March after a cruel battle with cancer. This will be the first birthday I have spent away from her in 38 years.

August AF days: 13.
@ahoy_m8 hugs for you sister, I am deeply sorry and send you strength and courage.
@tmbg1 now you have plenty of excuses to go visit your kid in college and plan for fun times. I think the first thing I did when I dropped them off was plan my next visit. And I went often. Then I realized they had a ton of "breaks" and they would visit a bit all too often. In the end, it was a fun and worthwhile sacrifice. Ok, sacrifice is an understatement.
@dawnbgethealthy you are officially beach-ready for that trip to Mexico
Exciting times @MissMay. I hear home prices are starting to drop too. I will say you are on a roll and that AF score is admirable as well.
I'm alright. Waiting for dawn so I can go out for a run. Then I want to plan a "big trip" for 2023 so I have a reason to train myself into some seriously good shape.4 -
