Traveling so did my run on the treadmill after work yesterday. Probably do the same today but I'm hoping that maybe the weather will cooperate. I don't care if it's raining as long as it's not pouring. I didn't pack a hat. I also just need it to not be miserably hot.7 -

That's more like it. I repeated yesterday's run, but this time not at a 'shying away from anaerobic' pace but at a comfortable, faster pace. Guess I should have run 1 minute longer for a proper comparison Anyway, I'm suddenly very close to the magic 80km again! Maybe I'll still manage that this month. lets see.6 -
Here's how that 2-week plan looks now, after today's run:Now to rest up and hope Saturday is a good day.
The X's were days when I felt awful and still ran, but just did what I could - shorter distances instead of the workout. From Saturday on, I've been feeling better.8 -
5 miles after strength training

@eleanorhawkins I'm so sorry that the Omeprazole messed up the tests and that you have to do them over. I'm sorry that you also had to DNS your race. I think it was probably the best call though. I hope you can get all of this figured out and get to feeling better very soon.
@polskagirl01 Good luck on your race Saturday!
Everyone has been doing great with their runs this week.
It stormed on Monday, so I wasn't able to get out to do my foundation run. I'll try to catch it up later this week - maybe do two runs tomorrow, if I can work it out. Yesterday was a tempo run for 4.1 miles. Today was a Z1 recovery; however, it started pouring rain sooner than expected, and we had lightning alerts, so it was cut way short. We have high chances of rain all week, which stinks. I don't mind the rain, but I don't want to run if it is lightning. Maybe tomorrow will work out better.4 -

Ran outside along the bayou after work. My air bnb is right next to where I used to live years ago when I was in training so I'm pretty comfortable with this area. It was kind of weird running along the same path I walked probably hundreds of times before. Sort of deja vu.
Stormed all day so while it was still hot, it was cooler than it usually is that time of day and the cloud cover is still hanging around.6 -

Today's run was 5 miles. It was still humid, but it felt a little less hot so it was pretty pleasant. I saw a skunk, but no other critters today.

Morning all! Absolutely miserable here today in London. And I slowed down - A LOT! More for weather , but hey!
7 -
I'm three days behind. Trying to catch up, so be patient with me. LOL
@martaindale I talk to myself all of the time. It makes me glad that people use those earbuds for talking on the phone because I figure people just assume I am actually talking to someone other than myself. LOL Good luck with the marathon training. It is exciting.
Thanks @Teresa502 ! I hope you enjoy your hike this weekend and look forward to some pictures later.
@polskagirl01 Glad that your runs are going so much better.
Nice running @shanaber. The last time I looked at the Run the World map we were nearing CA. Thanks for the description of the things we will be passing. I hope we have a nice run with you and Hobbes.
@eleanorhawkins It sounds like you are making wise decisions, even if they are really hard ones. Hang in there and I hope you figure out what is going on soon.
Glad you didn't get flooded out @Scott6255 .
@eleanorhawkins I just read the description of the pain you had on the 23rd. I agree that that doesn't sound like acid reflux at all. It sounds more like gall bladder or appendix to me. Did they check that out? It know we are all throwing everything we can think of out there and we aren't doctor's, but we care. I remember when my brother had appendicitis every little bump made the pain horrible. That's why I brought that up.4 -
@quilteryoyo they prodded pretty much everything and couldn't find anything, they did blood tests for liver & kidney markers, also the pain was too high up and dead centre, which apparently rules out appendix/gall bladder. Thanks (to everyone) for caring, I know I'm moaning too much in here!
I'm more or less comfortable now, it's back to just feeling like I have nasty DOMs in my abs along with some things that sound like H. Pylori. Yesterday I went out and managed what I'm pretty sure was my slowest 5k ever. I stuck to 90-30 second run-walk intervals and it was uncomfortable (especially going downhill) but bearable so I told myself it was awesome training for running ultras some day because everyone suffers pain and stomach issues during ultras. Yes, I know I'm crazy LOL.
Forcing myself to rest today, will have another go tomorrow and see if I can go faster/further.7 -

Fartlek day. Thus not going all out, but varying speed and length of these. Was lots of fun, until about 3.6km in when my HR suddenly dropped, I started to freeze and running became very, very difficult. Faster and slower intervals had a lower HR than previously in this run, and both were like wading through custard. But that's good. Because when this happens it will happen for the coming 2 or so weeks, and then all of a sudden running at this lower HR becomes super easy, and I will be able to run faster. No idea how or why, but it's good news in a strange way.5 -
@AlphaHowls That's a beautiful sunrise picture from Italy picture!
I'm glad it looks like all out TX friends were not flooded, but did get a little rain.
@kgirlhart Nice running and glad you got to see Sunny/Lilly and give her some carrots. Glad the skunks aren't spraying. Be careful out there.
Oh no @Teresa502 ! I hope it is feeling some better today and you are able to baby it enough that you can go on your hiking trip. Will soaking it in Epsom Salts water help? (Glad to see that it is feeling some better.)
@yirara I can run slower outside a lot better than I can on a treadmill. When I run slow on the treadmill I feel like I bounce a lot more than normal, if that makes sense. And, that uses more energy, so when I speed up it is actually easier and my HR goes down....not always, but sometimes. Glad yesterday's run was better. Weird about the HR and getting cold, but, if it has happened before and it's good for you...
@Scott6255 Great running and I hope the shoes work out for you.
You are doing great @tarun_yadavA . You did slow down today! Those slippery leaves can be hazardous, so I'm glad you did. We don't need any more injuries.
@martaindale I congratulate you on running when you are traveling. I hope you mange to get some outside runs in too. See that you did yesterday. You did great!
Good luck with your race on Saturday @polskagirl01 . You did great with the plan - doing what you could.
You're doing great @marisap2010 . I wouldn't run in lightening either. I hope you are able to get out for some of the scheduled runs.
@eleanorhawkins I'm glad you are feeling some better and that they prodded everything and ruled out gall bladder/appendix. I hope they figure out the issue soon.

I ran 6 miles this morning. It was actually kind of pleasant this morning and the sunrise was really pretty. I saw one skunk today and a couple of loose dogs. They seemed more concerned about avoiding me than I was about them. Today's run put me over my goal of 100 miles for August.

Today's run... Yes, I know I know. I have been naughty (I got carried away - took it v.easy yday, and last night for dinner, I had quite a carb-y veggie dinner of kidney bean curry and rice)... So just had the energy today and felt good. No pain. So far. 🤞.

@tarun_yadavA we didn't say you had to do ALL your runs slowly, just the majority of them ;-) As a general rule, most basic training plans include one session of speedwork in one form or another as well as a long (slow) run and easy runs. The 80:20 school of thinking is quite an interesting thing to read up on if you're interested. I think it's Matt Fitzgerald who does 80:20 training plans and stuff, whereby 80% of your runs are easy and the other 20% are hard. Pretty sure there are a few in this group who have used his plans/methods and can provide more insight!

Thanks! Will Google! 😊1 -
Great running @kgirlhart . I'm glad the skunks try to avoid you. I think they usually do, unless you startle them.
Great run @tarun_yadavA . Yes, as @eleanorhawkins said, not all runs should be slow. I am one of those that follow the 80/20 running of Matt Fitzgerald and it seems to work well for me and makes sense. I bought his book that is called "80/20 Running" and read it all. It makes a lot of sense to me. The book has training plans for 5K, 10K, HM, and Marathons. I'm using a modified HM plan now to get ready for a 10 mile race in December. I think, for me, I need to run a little bit further on some of the weekday runs than I go with my slow as a snail pace for the times he has in the plan. We'll see how that works. I'm just now starting the plan again. I used it for my first HM last year. My HM was a horrible virtual one, but I just think it was that my body that day was NOT feeling as good as normal. I started having issues around mile 6 and I had been running at least 10 miles before feeling really tired and had ran 12 miles and walked one a lot easier than I ran that "race." But, because of that, I want to put add few more miles to the plan (I hope).4 -
Uggggh. The tiredness is back. I rested most of yesterday, and woke up tired again today. But I still got up, showered, and am trying to do some easy things around the house. It might be a little better today than yesterday. I'll drink coffee tomorrow morning before I head out to the race. Maybe I'll drink coffee today too 😁. Or maybe not. Coffee has a very strong and long-lasting effect on me, so I limit my intake.
Fun fact: Somehow the race organizers got their race location pinned in Google maps 😍.7 -
I think my ankle is mostly better. I walked 3 miles yesterday morning and had no pain but a bit of swelling. This morning I walked 5 miles and no swelling so far.
I hope your energy returns for your race tomorrow @polskagirl01! Good luck!
@eleanorhawkins - you are not complaining too much! You are a beast to even try to run 5k yesterday feeling the way you do.
Congrats on reaching your monthly goal @kgirlhart!
