    Health challenges: breast cancer in 2016, full hysterectomy 2021, multiple leg/foot breaks (2015, 2018, 2022).

    9/1/22 - 202.6 I can't wait to get this stupid boot off, but my husband is already reminding me to ease into exercise so I don't reinjure myself. Had a dexa/bone scan this morning to see if I'm dealing with osteoporosis. It's a possibility since I was on an estrogen blocking med for 5 years after the breast cancer, and I now have a history of fractures that take twice as long to heal as they should. Will be interesting to get results from that test.
    9/5/22 - 201.0 dexa scan was normal so still no real answers, perhaps I'm just a really slow healer. Will see ortho tomorrow. Fingers crossed I'm out of this lovely boot in another few weeks before I go to San Diego for work. Or else my dear friend gets to mark off another state it has traveled to with me :-) Food added to my diary for the day and for tomorrow too. Adding to my food diary really does help me stay on track mentally, but it is somewhat of a hassle so I easily break the habit.
    9/6/22 - 203.0 my own fault for the bump. My husband and I are committed starting today.
    9/7/22 - 201.0 stuck with my food plan yesterday, it really does help if I pre-log my food for the day. Today is already logged. Had a scare with my husband yesterday. He came home at noon and said he was either going to our dr, the walk-in clinic, or the ER, whichever he could get to the fastest. Numb hands, arms and legs felt 'asleep'. Clinic decided it's a pinched nerve in his neck so we're waiting for insurance to approve an MRI. Until Monday at least he's off work, he can't safely do anything there (he's a heavy machinery mechanic). And while we were there I did my over-due check on my leg fracture; another 3 weeks with my dear friend Boot and then will get out of it. Hopefully it won't go with me to San Diego at the end of the month!
    9/8/22 - 199.8 glad to not see a '2' this morning. Making chili for dinner tonight. Love fall in Indiana - cool nights and warm days. Trees haven't started to turn colors yet but the sunflower fields popped. Taking hubby to the GP today to put her in the loop. Still waiting on MRI approval. I'm almost hoping he gets worse so that we can go to the ER and force the MRI. Yes, I know, that's not the right way to look at it, but the idea of waiting around 6 weeks for a MRI and then another wait for surgery isn't pleasant; he can't work safely so could be off a really long time. Although I did have to tell him that it wasn't fair for him to break while I was still broken; this is my time to be taken care of LOL.
    9/13/22 I promise I've been weighing, but apparently I wasn't logging in here. I weighed this morning but as soon as I got to my computer the number completely flew out of my head. Had a brain MRI yesterday on hubby ('unremarkable'). He has a neck MRI Monday and an appointment with a neurologist next Thursday. Nerve EMG is currently scheduled for 10/10. He's improving slightly, but that's with sitting around for the last 10 days. I'm pretty confident that symptoms will increase with more movement. He did have neck pain during the night and an extremely stiff neck this morning; told him we're notifying the dr tomorrow if it's still stiff then as it could be another symptom rather than just simply I-slept-on-it-wrong.

    09/13-195.8-(Trend Weight 198.8)- A day off of travel allowed me to take the water pill. Wow! What a drop! I was also extremely careful with my diet. A stellar day! Nice way to end a challenge but it will be even more challenging starting next round with this number and still make progress. We all know the food holidays are on the horizon. I’ve got to keep diligent in order to venture into those ahead of the game. This was a great round for so many. Thank you all for sharing your journey, your ideas and your progress with me.

    09/14-199.8-(Trend Weight 198.9)- Obviously no water pill yesterday. Hard to gauge progress like this. My weight yesterday would have had me at a loss for the week. Water-logged today does not. Makes me want to throw in the towel because how much information am I really getting anyway? What am I truly tracking anyway? Ugh! Travel today for dental cleanings for son & I so no waterpill today either. I’ll be like a squishy water balloon by tomorrow’s weigh-in.

    9/13: 166.3 Have not been regular with my postings, been dealing with a couple issues with my daughter that have been my focus. The good news is I haven't gone off the rails gaining weight, but I have not made myself & my goals a priority lately and that has to change. A tool I use to work toward my goals is the theory (from Betty Rocker) that there are '4 Pillars of Health': Sleep, Nutrition, Stress Management, & Exercise. These are the 4 “Legs” of your healthy physique “chair.” Take one away, you can still sit on the chair. Take 2 away and you’ve got problems. Focus too much on one and you can tip the chair over. The goal is to try to get all 4 areas to be important. And when you go through challenging times where one cannot be addressed, give attention to the other 3 so you can maintain your health. This mentality really helps me! Right now, I can only have 3 legs on my "chair" as the stress management leg is definitely unstable and not likely to correct itself any time soon. So, my attention to nutrition, sleep, and exercise has to be a priority!
    9/14: 166.2 Yesterday was a walk + barre workout. Also got my 2nd booster vaccine yesterday, not feeling 100% this morning, but have a run and lower body workout planned, so we'll see how those go.

    09/15-200.2-(Trend Weight 199.0)- Not too bad after travel. It was a very long day. Now I’ve found out that I have some decay (yuk, what a word) under an existing crown. They will not be able to save the crown in order to fix it. Several more appointments necessary between now and mid January. $$$$. I’ve been going through my clothing as I prepare for the fall/winter season in Michigan. Oh my Goodness. What size do I keep in my bedroom and what sizes go upstairs in storage. It’s so back and forth on the scale! I’m going to stay positive and hopeful and keep my next two sizes upstairs but very accessible. I can do this! Family doctor is increasing my Trulicity to stage 3 (of 4) while I await hearing from new endocrinologist. I feel like I’m staying in control/on top of everything (pretty well). I still haven’t heard from cardiology rehab so I am going to start some mild exercise at home on bike (easy level) and stretching. I can’t just keep sitting here and expect to lose calories by blinking!

    Hello!

    I just transferred to a new university 3 weeks ago, had an incident where I had to miss a week of class, and worked nonstop for a week to catch up. As it was, I didn't make any time to eat, sleep, or track. Now that things have calmed down a little (in time for midterms!), I am trying to get back on track for the fiftieth time.

    I got sick a couple weeks before class started and lost about 9 lbs in a week, but I am actually glad I was able to gain 3 lbs back by today. I'm a little farther away from the goal than before, but I am happier to lose weight at a more safe rate now.

    Sep 9- 98 lbs
    Sep 10- Didn't weigh today
    Sep 11- 97 lbs Maybe I didn't actually gain back 3 lbs? I recently ate and I'm rounding up, which probably makes my actual weight more like 96.5 lbs. It's hard for me to tell if I actually gained any weight, I suppose.
    Sep 12- Didn't weigh today. I also didn't eat the greatest today; I had way too much sodium. That'll definitely show on the scale tomorrow.
    Sep 13- 97 lbs I should have drunk more water yesterday.
    Sep 14- Didn't weigh today.
    Sep 15- 96.5 lbs I'm probably a bit lighter than that, but I'm rounding up just to be safe. Hydration really helps me.

    09/16-199.0-(Trend Weight 199.0)- I could have done much better yesterday. Followed my food plan very well until bedtime TV time. Then I had milk and some leftover sidedish from dinner for a snack which put me over. Also, I planned on starting some exercise but didn’t as I ended up babysitting unexpectedly for a couple hours last night until 9:30 pm. That is usually exercise enough! It’s nice to see the scale back under 200 so I’ll call myself satisfied for today. I’m planning an excellent day today. I always babysit on Fridays so he’ll keep me on my toes! He’s the one you saw in the wedding pic. Don’t let that sweet smile fool ya!

    I haven't been posting much, I didn't have wifi for a few days, and when it got fixed I realized how much precious time is spent reading and posting on forums, so I am just picking one each day right now.
    Loving Mexico. I will post some photos soon. This morning is really the first really rainy day of the rainy season, and it is coming down pretty hard. It is so lovely. My terrace is huge and covered, so I hope to take advantage of the opportunity and try to centre myself. I have lots of space for working out to dance videos, and will do a bunch after posting here. I haven't taken the time to read a book yet, maybe today in the hammock I will do just that.

    @RyotaFujikawa
    97 pounds? How tall are you?

    @tinaleigh07
    You are at such a good weight. The general rule of thumb for good health (other than the calculators) is start at 100 pounds for 5'0" and add 5 pounds for each inch over that. So at 5'6" you would be 130 pounds to be at a healthy weight. You look so fabulous in your wedding photos, I don't think that you need to gain or lose any more.
    As for me at 5'2", 110 would be the optimum, but I am thinking that I would like to be between that and 118. Lol, maybe someday, it isn't for lack of trying!

    @deepwoodslady
    It is not the end of the round. Maybe you are cut and pasting the exact same thing to all the forums from the 10 day challenge?
    I like what you said about not throwing caution to the wind and expecting doctors and nurses to "fix" you afterward. Good that you have that in your mind, think it be it do it.

    @mthomas0228
    Really interesting what you wrote about the 4 pillars. I think most of us are out of whack in at least one area at all times, but concentrating on the other 3 is such a good idea. Sleep is a toughy, stress is a toughy, but we all can keep nutrition and exercise under our own control.

    Hi everyone.
    I am Dawn, I will be 62 in a few weeks.
    I joined MFP in October of 2018. I have lost weight for sure, but still have another 20-ish pounds to shed. It is slow going and sometimes very frustrating. I lost weight before, quit tracking every bite and gained 50 pounds, so I have pledged to myself to keep this tracking up forever. MFP makes that extremely easy.
    As my moniker would suggest, at this stage of my life it is all about getting healthy so that I can be active throughout my 60s and hopefully 70s. This means to me achieving a healthy body weight so that my organs and stuff are not overworked.

    I think most of us have been up and down and all around. Key here is to rock it at any and every weight : - )

    Thursday September 1st: 138.2 (I am using my endweight from August). This month will see me in Mexico, where I absolutely love the foods, especially the breakfasts. My usually eating style will turn upside down. I am going to pack my scale with me to keep me from exploding : - )
    Friday September 2nd - 139.8 - Ugh. I was at 1200 calories with lots of calorie burn, so am just going to take this in stride as some weird sort of fluctuation.
    Saturday September 3rd - 140.1 - I had 4 wings last night (300 calories, but likely full of salt) after working a split with my other job in between. I had a whopping 22,218 steps on my pedometre at the end of the night! That worked out to a 917 calorie burn at my current weight. I had a workout in the morning before work also. Hating seeing the 140s yet again, but I dreamt of hitting 140, and achieved that in 2020 so trying to keep it in perspective, as opposed to knowing that 2 years of very hard work have seen me right back there again whilst hitting 130.6 in 2021. Not giving up, well maybe a little bit while in Mexico : - )
    Sunday September 4th - 140.9
    Monday September 5th - 141.8 - Egads
    Tuesday September 6th - 139.9 - Ate exactly the same things and had the same activities as the last 2 days. Hmm.
    Wednesday September 7th - 138.6 - Really no rhyme or reason, but I will take any loss that I can get. I would love to be 136 or less to begin my travels next week!
    Thursday September 8th - 138.1 - I so seldom eat Pasta, but I had cooked some up and portioned it. I have been having it with fresh garlic from my garden, my own oregano, turkey meatballs (the frozen kind) and 2 tbsp of sour cream. So different than the hunk of meat with veggies that I normally eat. Like, should I be eating white processed pasta more often? I am somehow losing weight. The last portion of that will be tonight, we'll see the tale of the tape in the morning weigh in.
    Friday September 9th - 138.5 - Well, it really was nice to be seemingly continually losing. I guess that I have leveled out. I was stuck at around 131 for a long time, if I am going to be stuck around 138 so be it. There are several pieces of clothing that fit me on my last birthday that I won't even be taking with me on my trip this year, too tight.
    Saturday September 10th - 139.5 - Late dinner, and wings at that.
    Sunday September 11th - 139.2 -
    Monday September 12th - I packed my scale into my suitcase already, and it is in my car. If my suitcase is overweight I may need to take it out. I will check in sporadically while in Mexico.
    Saturday September 17 - 139.1 - My scale was packed in my suitcase for a few days, and then I didn't have wifi for a couple. I hit 137.2, 138.2 this week. Planning on a nice big Mexican breakfast today if the rain lets up, otherwise I have a banana in the fridge in my outdoor kitchen. I mostly have been eating beans and rice, guac and chips. I have lots of leftovers if I don't leave my room at all today. The view of the rain is spectacular from my terrace.

    Start weight for the month: 138.2

    09/17-198.4-(Trend Weight 199.0)- My daughter got off work early so I only had to babysit in the morning. I took my son to lunch locally with a friend and her son. I finished my plate which I have taught myself not to do (usually). After breaking that good habit, I came home and was extra careful for the rest of the day knowing I could not afford many of my usual choices. Another good habit put into practice! It helped. Scale down ½ pound but trend weight is keeping a careful eye on me and doesn’t trust me. I get it.
