Sept accountability: 5 days AF
Alcohol: 10 days (24 drinks)
Goal: Limit 1-2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.
9/12 - AF with determination; DH had wine. I passed
9/13 - AF; struggled even though I was home alone
9/14 - 2 wine; steak night; passed on the bourbon & sprite after dinner
9/15 - 2 wine; passed again on the bourbon & sprite when the wine bottle was empty

I took a Sudafed before going to bed last night and I think it disrupted my sleep. Felt like I was half awake most of the night. NOTE to self: Downside to decongestants is that they can cause insomnia. It acts as a stimulant. GOOGLED at 5am this morning.

I have greatly reduced my drinking since June and had a great month in August with 26 out of 31 AF days. This month I am trying to be mindful and make self care a priority.
9/1-9/7: 7 out of 7 AF
9/8-9/14: 6 AF out 7

Lots happening here but too long to ramble on about. I hope everyone is well.
Sleep has been no good for me the past few nights either but I know the culprit.

Hello all!
I spend some time catching up on my reading pleasure here! The fair is not as brutal to me this year as last....I think because I am not the 'closer' and when it slows in the evening we volunteer to leave LOL
So far this month 5A days and 10 AF days.
Me on a break from selling tickets in my little 10x10 booth. I think he is suppose to be a sasquatch, but either way it is fun so far.

I caved on my planned AF day on Tuesday this week. My husband's beer at dinner just looked so good. I had a planned A day on Wednesday, and had an AF day yesterday, leaving me at...6 out of 15 days AF ugh. Have some major catching up to do the rest of the month if I'm going to hit 15 days!5 -
I'm feeling extremely depressed tonight. Three weeks ago I would have had a couple of cocktails when I felt like this. Tonight I am just sitting in it letting myself experience the heartache and pain. Tomorrow will be a better day.

My car has died. I was trying to make it through September with it since so much is going on but it just couldn’t hold on. Car shopping today. The fun never stops!6 -
Sept: 9 AF days. Overwork is draining me. The "I want to quit" and "Should I retire" voices are acting up again in my head, louder and louder.
@joans1976, sorry to hear this. Hope you find a car you like. I'm trying to hang onto mine for a year or two until there are better electric car options.

@Breathe57103 today is going to be a better day. You didn't drink yesterday and that was good also. I remember when my first husband left, the worst part was being home alone. I actually moved out of my bedroom into a spare bedroom and that helped. I hope you plan to fill your weekend with activities that will let you exhale and breathe in new energy.
I could use new energy myself. Working on it.....

My only nephew died a year ago this week. He had been a bit of a mess in his teens [ ain't they all ??] but in his mid 20's he had a house, a job he loved and a great relationship with the extended family.
According to the Mississippi police it was an auto accident, with gunshot involved. We never got ANY further clear explanation, and probably never will. He was just driving up North for scheduled work.
We cope by doing random acts of kindness in his name...$5 in the bucket of a street musician...buying a backpack full of school supplies for a kid whose parents can't afford it [ anonymously ]...paying off someone else's Christmas toy layaway...carrying an elderly neighbor's trashcans back into her yard on garbage day. "For Christopher".
It helps. A little.

Yesterday was my toughest day this time around (so far). I was really craving a drink.
My wife got back from her week in Pittsburgh and she wanted some wine in the evening. When I was opening the bottle for her I really really fancied joining her for a glass. I would have been so easy to join her and chill together over a glass but I knew that while she had a glass and a half I'd have finished the bottle and probably opened another.
Later she had a couple of fingers of Whisky. Again I really really wanted to join her while we watched a movie but I didn't. I think that if I'd broken the streak last night I'd have drunk the rest of the weekend and probably the rest of the month. I also didn't fancy the hangover from half a bottle of whisky LOL
Anyway I didn't so I was up nice and early. I've hit the gym this morning and taken the dog out for a nice long walk.

I am catching up on reading all of your posts.
Wifi is very spotty here, and posting is time consuming on top of it. I am on 3 forums and decided to just go on one of them each day, wifi permitting to maximize my time here in Zhihua
I had wifi only for a short window yesterday morning, so am posting early today here.
Rainy season was promised, but really only started yesterday with Tropical Storm Lester. Spectacular! Torrential/heavy : - ) I got up when I heard it.
I had planned to go out for breakfast, but had a banana and instant coffee instead until it let up a little at noon.
It had been sunny every day until then.
Friday was Mexico Independence Day (they have another name for it). Lots going on.
Normally I am a very early riser, so was in bed when I heard the fireworks at 11pm on Thursday night, the official time that it begins. I saw them perfectly from my terrace : - )
I wish I could say that I have totally let go and relaxed, but I am not quite there yet. I realize that I am a person who always likes to be on the move physically. Easy to do here, lots of beach walking, centro, huge market.
I really haven't eaten out as I had planned, not really hungry in the heat. I pick up rice and beans from a great little spot, and fresh guac and chips from another that I sort of nibble. So I have food in the fridge, not really meals. I am okay with that.
I have enjoyed cocktails every day from beach bars. I have tried quite a few different ones, but feel like I am now addicted to the Margaritas from one particular beach bar that will give me them to go (takeaway) which I take to the pool or to my terrace.
I had quite a hilarious time with my hammock. Without wifi I couldn't even google how to get out of one. On the second day I found myself on the floor, but with my one foot wound right up and stuck in it. It was ridiculous. I layed there with no idea of how or when I would able to get my wierdly angled foot free.
I got a bit of wifi the next day and found out how to exit one : - )

I am Dawn. I live in Cranbrook BC.
I joined this thread in November of 2018 as a daily drinker.
I have found a sweet spot for myself, 16-20 AF days per month.
I had 18 for August.
I will be in Mexico for a good chunk of September and will definitely be having some Margaritas and possibly Cervezas.
I post in the mornings to MFP, so the next day for this thread.
Diary style.
Sunday Sept 11 - AF - Planned AF for Monday and Tuesday. I arrive in LA at 3pm on Tuesday and staying there until Wednesday morning, where I depart for Zhihuatanejo. I may have a Margarita at a beach bar on Wednesday, we'll see. Packing up my laptop after this post, I will check back in on Thursday.
Monday Sept 12 - AF - I have to get up at 2:30am to be at the airport for 4:30
Tuesday Sept 13 - AF - Arrived in LA for the day and night. Met a very nice young man in the pool and had a good conversation
Wednesday Sept 14 - 1 Margarita. Flight delay and forever getting through customs so I was late to the property. Turns out the beautiful cobblestone street that I thought that I would be living on was torn up and muddy with construction. Pretty much impossible for the cabby. Somehow got into my "bungalow" and back down the hill in the mud to a little place where I had a drink and took two containers to my room, one of rice, one

@globalhiker Thank you. A car was purchased. Used cars are so expensive these days with inflation (I’m in the US) and getting a new car means a 15 month wait for a car you can’t test drive. So I got used, reliable but I’m not in love. Oh well, inventory was low everywhere. I would love to get an electric vehicle but I live in an apartment and charging stations aren’t very popular around here.

So sorry to hear of your nephews mystery shrouded passing. Good on you keeping up his memory in kind ways.
