I did something right for a change. I went on a long hike yesterday and did not work. I gave my husband love and attention and bought him food so he could cook his favorite kung pao chicken. I called the kids and made plans for the upcoming weekend. I booked another hike meetup with a friend. I updated my resume. I did have 8 ounces of organic wine then done. I put myself to bed at 7:30 pm.
I have no idea where I got this energy from, but it happened
Now today I am ready for a half hr. heavy weight workout while watching youtube travel videos. Then I will do a 30 min run before I start my day.

@joans1976 I wish you good outcomes. Hope you do something good for yourself today.
For that matter, let's all of us go out of our way to do something good for ourselves - especially on a Monday.5 -
@MissMay - Thank you! I've missed everyone. It's good to be back

Oh no : - (
Sorry to hear this news.
As for Bali, lots of good Youtube videos of people walking around with gopros on their heads. Go there in your mind for now. When you get there you will be familiar-ish.
Big Hugs!!3 -

This November the 28th, (my late Dad's birthday) will mark my 4th year on this thread.
Not only has it kept me accountable for my alcohol consumption, it truly has become a community for me, especially while we were in various lockdowns.
Sticking with my (reachable) goal of the last few years, 16-20 AF days. I have been successful each month with this expect for most recently in September when I was having a Margarita every day in Mexico and reached only 14AF for the month.
Diary Style:
Sunday November 13 - AF - I had a hankering for a Manhattan, but I didn't have any Vermouth and didn't go out to get any. Whew, that was far too many daily drinks days.

Hey everybody! This is my 5th month and I am so grateful to have found this group!
My goal is to not turn to alcohol this month no matter how stressful work or my physical health gets!
Best wishes to everyone to meet their goals this month!
11/1-11/7: 7 AF

Just so tired all the time.
11/9: AF
I’m an eating machine. Seem to be eating my emotions.

Finally Friday! I have 4 appointments and I plan to sleep between all of them!

I’m currently supporting a good friend whose mother was an alcoholic. She went through medical detox many times but was not able to stick with it. (Her husband refused to stop drinking so she would come home from rehab and have alcohol staring her in the face.) She was detoxing at home this week and had a cardiac event and died. My friend is shattered and so very, very angry. Her mom was only 70 and left behind a lot of family. It’s very sad and makes me thankful I have largely given up A.

Ugh, found a new lump in my left armpit last night. The left side is my “good” side. Phone calls to make today. I’ve been kind of in limbo waiting for a surgery date and that’s nerve wracking, not knowing what’s going to happen with my schedule and Christmas. Bali has been completely canceled now 😔I was trying to postpone it and was searching for new dates and in the meantime the airline just completely canceled my flight, with no explanation. Grrr. I WILL get there, it just may not be until February or March.

@globalhiker - Way to go! Looks like you had a great day.
AF - Nov 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 14
A- Nov 5 (1 wine), 6 (4 oz beer), 9 (1wine), 12 (beer)
I've lost about 4.5 lbs so far this month! Not drinking has made a huge difference. I still have my evening winddown (a fun beverage, snack, music, candle). Last night I repeated the ginger beer and pineapple juice. Zingy sweet.7 -
This morning I am invited to a FREE Osteoporosis evaluation, called Osteostrong about 30 minutes from my new location.
Should be interesting. Will report back with infor.
Yesterday was one of those days with so much planned to do and there was a glitch with each thing on my list.
I am trying to get better at not needing to dot i's or cross t's. I am a work in progress I suppose.
AF last night.

I made it 11 days and caved lol. I went back to 7 more days no alcohol and caved again. I'm on day 2 now.. wish me luck but most likely I will cave on 11/19 because we are celebrating thanksgiving early with my aunt and uncle and cousins lol. Moderation is key though and that's my goal for Saturday 11/19.7

Hello everyone! I'm late to the November game but better late than never.
I just returned to Myfitnesspal after a 2-year hiatus. Before 2020 I was overweight by 40 lbs. I had a lifestyle that involved plenty of social events and drinking. When I got home from work I would have some wine or a cocktail (or two) after work. I wanted to loose weight and get to my goal by my 50th birthday in May 2020.
During the shutdown, I stopped drinking, started eating healthy, and exercised. It was not so hard because the quarantine took the temptation away since we weren't going out. I lost 40lbs from Feb-May! I couldn't believe how fast the weight came off! I never felt better.
Unfortunately, when the holidays rolled around and things started opening up again I slowly started falling off the wagon. By mid-2021 I was eating, drinking, and dropped exercise. Part of me just said f-it, I'm just going to do what makes me happy and eat and drink what I want. Although I am not happy. I am miserable, sad, and angry with myself for getting back to this place. I know that limiting or giving up alcohol was the key to my previous success, I just need to get back in that headspace and do it again.
My hubby said something to be about how my health and energy are being affected by it all, and that was a motivation for a change. So...
Thank you all for being a forum to share this with.
11/1-13: drank almost daily.
11/14: AF
11/15: We are going bowling w/friends tonight, beer will tempting but I'm just having club soda tonight.9 -
November accountability: 5 days AF
Alcohol: 10 days (25 drinks)
Goal: Limit 2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.
11/14 - 1 drink; margarita w/ sangria swirl at book club
11/15 - AF5 -
Hello to all
Wish I could report I have been AF more than A days but I can't.
On the positive side....A days would be 1 beer or 1 glass.
On another positive.......DH heard a bit of banging on the outside of our building (concrete wall) so he goes outside to investigate. Remember the homeless that have taken over the side of the street, sidewalk and put things up against the building. Anyway this woman is outside with a cigarette dangling from her mouth. She does not even look at DH just talks at him saying...don't worry I leaving, you took my barrel (burning barrel next to building with chemicals and gas) and my metal (scrape metal they piled on our property) and you keep calling the police and fire department........this was the best story I have ever heard. I hope they stick to it and leave.
DH and the other business near us were all calling police, fire, environmental services and anyone else that would listen.7
