An Apology

I apologize for any of my posts that seem to imply that the way I've found to lose weight, get healthy and not put the weight back on is for everyone. Looking over what I've written, I have to agree that it DOES seem to imply that.
I guess after 60 years of yo-yo dieting and gaining more weight afterwards each time to the point of becoming morbidly obese, I'm so ecstatically happy to have found a way that works for me. It's hard for me to believe that it wouldn't help anyone who gave it a try.
I was bedridden with back pain 2 years ago and IF has been nothing short of a miracle for me. As far as diet. I made a typo. I meant to say High Protein/Low Carb.
This will be the last discussion I post here. If I could delete all my other ones, I would but don't know how.

It's fine to suggest trying your method to see if it fits for them 🙂 but yes, not as 'the only way'
And I'm glad you've found something that works for you!
It's rare that people apologize for misunderstandings and for that alone I'm giving you a big hug. A lot of people get a bit excited when they finally find something that works for them and it's so tempting to want to convince others. On top of that, communication is trickier online, anyway. Don't feel too bad! And I'm sorry the reactions put you off.14 -

Don't worry. I, for one, am very happy that you've lost a great deal of weight and your health has improved. It's a major accomplishment and you should be proud and happy. I really think most are pleased for you, and explaining how you did it is not a problem. The wording was a little misleading, and that's why it was pointed out.
There are so many posts on here that they get buried after about a week. However, you can cancel them out by talking to one of the mods.
Truly wishing you the best on your next phase.
PS: Please don't give up posting.11 -
I skimmed the other thread so I know what this refers to.
Don't use that as reason to stop posting here. You've obviously taken on board whatever others were saying, and it's good that you're open to adapt.10 -

I think I've been one of your frequent critics on the other posts, but I truly do applaud you for finding a personalized route that works for you. I think personalization is key: We all have different preferences, strengths, challenges, situations. There are hints that you've tailored the cookie-cutter approaches a bit based on your experience, and that's a great thing. (I'm talking about that "keto like but not keto" kind of stuff - not that I think keto is a bad thing for those it suits, though.)
Other people can absolutely benefit from your experience! Some people will find your methods as helpful as you have, others won't, and that's fine . . . but your sharing them in a "this is me" way can be really helpful to others.
Truly, I can understand your enthusiasm. Any of us, after decades of non-success (like you and I have had), can experience a bit of new-convert zeal. Your experience is useful to others, even if it may not be utterly universal. I sincerely applaud your personal success, and am happy for you - those benefits you've seen are so, so powerful. Keep posting, please!10 -
What everyone else said because they're more eloquent than I am. 😀6

Yes, please keep posting. I like your enthusiasm and hearing how others have been successful in losing weight and keeping it off.5

Post what you want to post. If it works for you great. If someone else doesn't like it or it doesn't work for them, so what. They can go try something else. Please stop worrying about what other people think.10

The point was more separating what works for ME - and by all means post about that - and making blanket statements about what is best for everyone.
Good on you OP for seeing the difference and acknowledging that.

Thank you.

You are simply excited about what you are doing and the success you are having. That is nothing to be ashamed of. Sure enough, intermittent fasting is far from the only method, but since it is the only method you have ever found that works for you, you are completely right in saying so. If people are criticising you for that, just ignore it. They are simply projecting their own insecurities on you. Keep up the good work, don't give up and don't keep quiet. You may well be able to help some people by talking about what works for you.2

Nobody was criticising her for saying what worked for her.
The issue, as OP acknowledged, was extrapolating that to what will work for everyone.
It wasn't about people projecting any insecurities.13 -

Thank you for that. My intention was to help others and that's why I took the time to write a post. After dieting almost my entire life, depriving myself and counting calories, only to gain it all back and getting heavier and heavier each year, I was beside myself with exhilaration to have found something that worked. I went from being bedbound to being able to walk again. It has been like a miracle.
At the ripe old age of 74, I was morbidly obese and had given up completely. Never wanted to ever diet again until I decided to try Intermittent Fasting. Now I'm 76 and down 60 pounds, and I thought if I could do it at my age, others could too. I guess that was a false assumption, but I know that just cutting calories for me never worked in the long run. I gained back my weight and then some like 99% of people do. This time (with IF), I've been able to keep the pounds off. From what I've read, it has a lot to do with your hunger and appetite hormones. They are more stable when you practice IF.
I see that if I initiate a post again that I will have to be careful how I word it. I'd sincerely like to help others (I'm a nurse and that's always been my M.O.) and don't want to put anyone off. Thanks again for your reply.9 -

Right. That was a false assumption on my part and that's why I've apologized. Not everyone can do IF but if they could, I truly believe they would benefit from it along with a healthy unprocessed food diet.2 -

I'm glad you've stuck around
Everyone needs to find their own path and it's good to see different examples of what works for people with successful and sustainable weight loss. It gives newbies a range of options to try out - if one strategy doesn't work, they have ideas for alternative strategies.6 -
