It started out to be a bright though cold day, then the rain came in. It’s been alternating rain and sunshine most of the day.
Sorting out my card making supplies today. I didn’t send many cards this year, as I was too ill during Covid, so I have a stash of completed cards ready made for next December.
I have read all your posts but have nothing to add to what has already been said.
Will probably have an early night tonight.

Been a crazy couple days at work. Taking deep breaths.
I had a nice weekend and did get things done around home. Not being on FB or playing games on my phone has given me lots of free time. So planning after this month to limit my time or stay off for another month.
All this talk about cleaning this last weekend cleaned out the hall closet and filled a full size bag for the trash. Next is the top cupboard above the closet in the spare room. hopefully this coming weekend.
weigh in this week was not good. I made it to the gym 4 days last week, so have to work on watching the amount of food better. Baby steps, but not giving up.
Michele--With the nustep you are sitting which is better for my knees.
Allie--Looks like Miles had a nice birthday. Thanks for sharing the pictures. I think it is sad that your SIL won't move the bed for you when your are watching his son free.
Machka--Looks really nice and you should be proud of all the hard work you have done on it.
Rebecca--We have a niece named Athena Rose. She is grown with children of her own. Love that name. Calendars are on the way.
Annie--Sorry hear about the doctor visit, but at least now you can plan.
I am up to page 31 but out of time. Have a nice evening ladies.

I am sitting in the car dealership for inspection and routine service. The dealership is pet friendly-one employee has an adorable long-haired dachshund pup that weighs 4 lbs; another has an enormous Italian Mastiff named Niko. I’m in heaven.
Concerning the weight loss, I still have 50 lbs to go.
I went to Aquatic Circuit class followed by Aquatic Core class this morning-both excellent workouts. I have a feeling I am going to be able to make a dent in the weight still to go with all the classes available here. The dogs go for 4 walks a day, and I am physically active at the other house nearly every day as I continue with a couple of hours of archaeological digging daily.
A 3’x4’ oil painting Gary did when he was about 16 or 17 sold on auction for over $100. Raised his spirits.
I’m going to sleep like a log tonight after this busy active day
Hugs to all

I remember as a kid having all the clothes drying on the line- I HATED the feel of them, so much I was in tears with some of them. I have always been VERY picky about my clothes, they HAVE to be super soft and no tags in them. If I wore a sweater, I had to wear a long sleeve soft cotton shirt under it. My favorite clothes are fleece/cotton/sherpa/etc. I feel clothes first before anything else. I rarely buy clothes online because of that. They look like they will be soft but get them and they feel terrible.
Mine have to be smooth cotton or jersey knit.
Fortunately line drying those is all right.
I used to be able to wear anything but not since 2016. Fleece is OK as a jacket over a long sleeve cotton top in the middle of winter but it's too prickly against my skin.
It's related to how hot I get.
Even at night I sleep with a very smooth cotton sheet and that's it ... unless it is really cold.

My favorite "fabric" now is Sherpa!!! Love the feel. I have quite a few sherpa blankets and then dh got me one of the big jacket/robes that is Sherpa inside and fleece that is super soft. BUT, after a while, when the Sherpa isn't super soft anymore, those blankets become cat blankets
My newest blanket I ordered and opened after my surgery, so comfy. Used it the whole time I was on the couch and now it is on my side of the bed. I have another just like it that I used when I had Covid. That was the one thing I couldn't wait to open and use when I was finally able to drive home from mom's after being too weak to drive home. Two weeks on the couch with that.

Kohl's has these on sale every Black Friday. $19.99 for the Sherpa and $9 for the fleece. I buy extra every year. This year I bought two of the Sherpa ones and had them sent to my former inlaws.
Debbie
I had a look and they would be too textured and fuzzy for me. Would set off all sorts of itchiness and prickliness.
Regarding thyroid. I keep having it checked and it keeps coming back good.

Grandmallie: I have been watching All Creatures Great and Small on PBS.
Beth: Good of you to get your Mom the right wheelchair for her.
Machka: I need to go back and read your cycling history!
Heather: How frustrating for your friend about the museum.
Tracey: I have plates on the wall in my dining room!
Annie: Sorry about your Mom's memory issues.
RvRita: Appreciate is a good word!
I have never had escargot. I do love online grocery shopping. I prefer pickup-up over delivery because it is less expensive.
I remember my mother hanging clothes outside before we got the dryer.
I joined a streaming work out site and did my first work at home in months. It did involve weights. This is live every day at 9 am EST but then this is recorded and there are other recordings to chose from as well. Hopefully I will begin doing more with weights at home!

Afternoon and evening ladies
Well today has been a day..
Tracy ran late ,but i has an appointment at the Triple A office ans I booked my flight and hotel for the wedding..
I didn't book the rental car,i came home to look for cheaper prices. Sheesh when did they triple the prices? Anyway let my cousin know I was coming and ahe is happy and I can use my aunts car,she no longer drives..
So that saves me.. yipee..
Since being there last time there are 3 new babies.. I can't even keep count.
Tracy was going to come get some chicken noodle soup and then ,said never mind as Kyle must have barked at her for something.. He has been home with the flu. Still wearing my mask when im down there and when im in places.
On the Carmine issue, sitting down and trying to talk to an almost 15 yr old that has a humongous chip on his shoulder and puts headphones on and ignores me until he wants something. Is not the converasationalist.. believe me I have tried. Told him he can call me ,text me whatever he would like to do. But I am to blame for outing him to his parents so he says.
Ugh oh well..3 -
Went to both places I walk- it was raining a little and pretty windy so didn't walk too much. Water levels are way down, not on the path/road at the wetlands. Some at the park.
Still raining. Supposed to have a break tomorrow and then rain again Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday....
This is the graph for the lake near my mom's - Lake Sonoma
Forecast for here is rain every day, except tomorrow, through 1/19/22

Kylia that apple didn’t fall far from your tree! Could be sisters indeed!
Heather didn’t see Marmite or fish paste:sick: on that British Foods meme? Black pudding and fried apples :sick::sick:
Tracey “amazing to me. . .that the trailblazing and fighting they did for women and how they were treated happened in my lifetime.” Here’s one for you. When my Mama was born (1913), women weren’t allowed to vote. I’m still in awe of what a fighter/survivor she was.
Lisa what wonderful news, about Bella and about your letter. SMH Lowe’s would send delivery folk that were not empowered/trained to hook up the new propane stove.
Karen in VA Oh what a pic!
Katla Joe enjoys Gunsmoke too and has several of the TV movies as well as the episodes on DVD. So glad you can peek in on your DH. ((hugs))

Worked then went to Aldi. $5 for a dozen eggs!!!! It used to be that eggs were less expensive than egg substitute. Not so anymore! Then went to Sam’s and ordered new glasses. They should be in in two weeks. While there I got these memory foam pillows for Jess’ room. The pillows in there started to get flat. Wish they’d had a memory foam one for a king bed for me. Then went to Michael’s and got embroidery thread for crafts that I’ll do down in FL. Newcomer bowling tonight
Tracey – I’m a bit discouraged that Denise hasn’t even acknowledged that she got our gift cards. When I last talked to her she said that she didn’t go to the mailbox yet. And I still don’t know if she got them. Next time I’m going to take them up with me when we go up there. This way I know that she and Pete got them. I do browse WalMart.com and get their price for things when I’m comparison pricing
Karen VA – I can tell you where those pounds went!!!! Congrats!
I do have a clothes rack and I have put it out on the deck to dry clothes. But I also bring it in at night
Lanette – in our second house, I would hang my clothes up in the furnace room during the winter. It was always so warm in there and the clothes would dry.
Even tho I am not crazy about it, I think I’ll go to the gym for the body pump on Tuesdays. And then do something at home on Thursdays. If I go to the gym on Thurs, I know that I will just come home from work on Tuesday. At least I’m getting exercise twice during the week (well, 3 times adding in Sundays).
Took my walk around the block today. I try to get to this every day.
Allie – what happened to poor Myles????
Karen – you are so lucky to be able to take aquatic classes. How I miss mine!
Rosemarie – with all you have going on, I am very impressed that you’re putting yourself (at least for a moment) first and exercising.
Very light turnout at bowling tonight. We know why, they decided to have a general meeting in the evening, this evening. I would have thought they would have had it last night and tell people that they’re having it on a Tuesday so everyone can go bowling. Newcomers always tried to avoid activity conflicts. Oh well…. Last time we had an evening meeting, it didn’t get more participation so I don’t know how it’s going to go this time around.

DH is enjoying Matt Dillon & others on TV. Dale Robertson was today’s hero. I enjoyed it with him. 😊2

Michele- my friend told me she gets her eggs at Sam’s. An 2 packs of 18 each for about $7. I went to the store on our HOA and eggs were $7.99 a doz. Got some today for $3.75. The dog food I used to feed my pup was $.55 a carton. Now it is $1.45. Up ten cents from last week. I think I might look on line for a recipe to make my own.
Played bridge today and my brain is tired. Lol

Hello everyone. New to the community. My name is Kathy. I’m married to my sole mate Lou. We have four children and eight grandchildren! Download this app at the advice of my doctor. Still trying to manage the app itself. Hoping by tracking my food and moving more I can lose some weight. I’m a little embarrassed to put it out there that I used to lead weight watcher meetings for a few years. Absolutely felt my very best while doing so. Since then my hubby retired and we moved South to warmer weather. We certainly have enjoy ourselves the last six years. I’d say too much. I’ve gain almost every single pound I lost on WW. Lost my lifetime because of it. I’m constantly beating myself up over my weight. I’m finally ready to do something about it. However I have RA and a blown disc in my back that stops me from doing all the things for exercise I used to do. I started back to walking slowly of course and I can tell you it’s been three weeks and I feel different. Hoping to find like minded friends to share our journey.8

Welcome Kathy! Like any program, this one works if you work it. You have joined in with a group of strong, intelligent, and committed women. Keep coming back!
I love all the advice shared.
Congratulations to those who have lost!
Proud of all who keep picking themselves up!

still braving the rain, and really remember when this was our "normal". We have covered more area with buildings and streets and it's harder for the water to soak in, and around here we have storm drains every few homes have one in the gutter to send the water into the drainage system, and it is the neighborhoods responsibility to keep it clean for everyone's benefit.. there is one near me and the 3-4 houses near by all just wander over and sweep it clean occasionally. But there are whole neighborhoods flooding because everyone thinks it is someone else's job to clean the storm drain. Some folks can't seem to remember that we are all part of a community . I'm just a bit frustrated with the lack of community - sorry just in a funk about it.

Machka - thanks for the link. It won’t let me open it in Canada though. I’ll have to look at the local stores here.
I had an “I don’t know” phase in 2016-2017 all of the stress just got to me. I swear I was decisioned out. I didn’t know how to fix us financially, as a relationship, how to get rid of stress at work, it was terrible. We lost the house and a vehicle in 2016, I lost my job in 2017, the stress relief was humongous and I felt better than I had in years. I think it was like “the worse” had happened and I survived it.
Karen - there was Miss Frizzle on The Magic School Bus
Kylia - I don’t understand the restrictions on clotheslines either. Let’s save the planet, oh but not that way!
Carla - maybe I should start cards again.
Heather - I bet your grands will still come around. I could talk to my Grandmother without judgement and without her trying to correct my behaviour (although I really needed it, I’m sure) all my life. Even as a married woman I could talk to her.
Allie - I would be very worried about Carmine. With his Dad being the way he is it could be a recipe for disaster. I don’t envy your position at all. I wouldn’t turn him down for McDonald’s but would use the opportunity to tell him that his behaviour shouldn’t warrant treats. It’s a tough line, but he needs someone in his corner.
Debbie - I bet your Mom would enjoy that gift. The one I got was less than $200 Canadian. I’m sure it’s even cheaper in the States.
I love the feel of Sherpa, my eldest daughter cannot handle it at all. Machka - she is the one that was diagnosed with ADHD, apparently the aversion to feel certain things is one of the symptoms.
Barbara - my Grandmother was born in 1913. The stories she told were incredible.
A favourite one to tell me was how her brother had appendicitis, they had to take the horse and buggy across the river to get the doctor. The doctor operated right on the dining room table. This is the same table I now have. I can’t imagine! The stories this table could tell.
Michele - only a few months ago (I want to say Sept)I could buy 30 eggs at Costco for 5.99. When I bought some on Dec 30 they were 10.99.
I don’t know how people are going to make it.
I got payroll submitted today only 20 minutes before my last second deadline. Phew! A lot of changes for the new year really caused some issues.
Today is DH’s birthday his sister posted on his FB wall for their Mother (my MIL will not post herself she asks others to do it for her) in the post they said that his Father is not well. You would think they could pick up the phone and call. It angers me that they have little regard for his feelings.
This evening after he went to work I worked on the sign I’m doing for my wall. I have to actually put the vinyl on the board yet, but this is a good representation of what it will look like.

Barbara - I love Marmite and eat it often. But I don't think anyone eats fish paste any more. When I was a child, it was a regular on our Sunday tea table. I only liked the crab one. In the days before fridges, the pots were tiny. My mother told us dire tales of someone in the newspaper who kept her pot too long and died of ptomaine poisoning.
Allie - You are right not to take him if he is blocking you out with headphones. I wouldn't take him to the hairdresser either. The whole situation is so very sad. As Tracey said, it is dangerous. But, they have to work it out for themselves. Can you look after Miles at your place for a while? The more distance, the better.
Pottery this evening. I am looking forward to the actual session, but the weather and the dark etc are not enthusing me. I will drag myself out of the house, however. (I hate going out full stop, and I especially hate going out in the evening in the winter) I will try to get out late afternoon and have a meal out. Maybe Oriental. I have a restaurant in mind.
I also have a phone call scheduled after lunch with an old yoga friend from my previous house. She has just had very bad flu. Plus a lit of problems getting her son resettled in this country with his South Korean wife and twins. The Home Office are being very obstructive. It is sad for her. They were over last summer, organising everything, but it all went wrong.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

We have fish paste here. Blech.
Several years ago, I had a Gastroscopy and when I came out of the anaesthetic, I felt so sick and my blood pressure was very low. They had to tilt my bed so that my head was low and work on me to get my BP back up again, plus they had to give me something for nausea.
I had just barely recovered and was finally sitting up when they came by with sandwiches and wanted me to eat. The only kind of sandwiches they had were ...... fish paste!!
I nearly threw up again!!
What a thing to offer a person who has just spent the last hour being sick!

Sensory Processing Disorder is possibly part of ADHD
https://www.healthline.com/health/childrens-health/sensory-issues-in-children#other-conditions
https://www.additudemag.com/sensory-processing-disorder-in-adults/
SPD can complicate everything from getting dressed to eating to grooming — and that’s just the before leaving for work. The following are common triggers for discomfort:
Hair brushing ... putting my hair up can be an issue. It's got to be just right or it drives me nuts.
Tight clothes or coarse fabric ... Yep! Big discomfort!
Loud noises such as fireworks or thunder ... Sometimes.
Bright lights like camera flashes, sunshine, or strobes ... Sometimes.
Strong odors including perfume or scented detergent ... Often.
Swimming in lakes ... if I can float, I'm OK. But I do not like setting my foot down on a lake bottom!
Sticky fingers ... I do not like sticky fingers!! I love having hand sanitiser everywhere so I can get the sticky off
Tags on clothes ... Yep! Big discomfort!
Being touched or hugged ... Yep! Big discomfort!
Wearing shoes ... Often. I prefer being barefoot.
Tart or bitter foods ... it's actually tart or umami (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umami) food I don't like.
I also eat based on texture ... food has to be the right texture. I've never had oysters because they are entirely the wrong texture.

1 Sit in silence for three minutes... it's harder than you think. Does silently working in the garden count? Done! I sat silently for 7 minutes and prayed.
2 List 5 things using each of your senses. Right now? I can see my Christmas decorations, I can hear Christmas songs, I can taste my coffee, I can smell my coffee, and I can feel a comfortable temperature in the room.
3 Let go of at least 5 items in your house. I'm not in a downsizing or reducing mode so I've taken some lunch things to work, I will take an item to be mailed and another to be given to the people at work.
4 What was your favorite Christmas gift? (this year or ever). I can't tell you what my favourite Christmas gift this year is yet. It's a secret.5 Move for at least 30 minutes today. Absolutely. It's a very rare day that I don't.
6 Share a goal you achieved last year. We completed the longest bicycle ride since my husband's accident and the fastest.
7 Slow down and savor one meal today. Mmmm ... pizza!
8 Who was your favorite teacher. My father. But I've had quite a few good teachers, in addition to him, over the years.
9 Create something today. I finished creating my first work-related project plan today.
10 What is your favorite lyric from a song. Difficult one given that I like so much music. But let's go with: "A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices"
11 Send a card/note to someone today. Do emails count?
12 What are you looking forward to in 2023? Can't tell you that! It's a secret ... same secret as my favourite Christmas gift.13 Tell a random person they look "good" today
14 Tell us three amazing things that happened recently (you decide what "recently" means...lol)
15 Call or text someone you haven't talked to in at least a week
16 What made you smile today
17 Take a photo of something you're grateful for
18 What material comforts are you most thankful for? You can make your list as long as you like...
19 Write a positive review for a company for goods or services you've received recently
20 Write down five things you like about yourself
21 Pay it forward in some way
22 What do you most desire in your life right now?
23 Go an entire day without complaining
24 What about you makes you special?
25 Spend time with a loved one
26 When was the last time you felt pure joy?
27 Hold the door for a stranger... or a friend
28 What fear have you overcome?
29 Engage in a random act of kindness of your own choice
30 When was the last time you laughed so hard you almost peed?
31 Now try to "meditate" (sit in silence) for ten minutes...
Weird days. Still.
One day I'll tell you all about them.

Good Thursday!
Nothing exciting happening in Ohio other than rain and fog in January. I got my hair cut and colored last night. Today I drive to Columbus for an engine training class. Maybe I will learn something!
Been checking my blood pressures as told to do and it is fine. I have printed my results to give to dr tomorrow. I think my only real concern is the pain when exercising in my neck and shoulder, we will see what she says tomorrow. My cholesterol ratio is good regardless of those pesky numbers. BP average for the week is 119/73. So those two things are not a concern.
Machka My youngest grandson is like you. ALWAYS HOT, NO sticky, no scratchy, very texture aware in both food and clothes. Even as a baby he fussed if you put him in blue jeans type things. At 14, he finally bought his first actual pair of jeans. Most of the time he is in compression stuffs under shorts. I thought he was strange, then realized that it is more common than I realized.
Gotta get this day going. Really don't want to go, but it is required and I get to see a friend that I haven't seen since Covid.
Still need to send note to friend/family
12 What are you looking forward to in 2023? Better health and more time with family/friends!
Stay safe in all this weird weather wherever you may be!
Make the best decision you can at the moment and move forward!
