It's time for a fresh start and I'm looking forward to doing it with all of you. This thread is a great place to find friendship, support, and encouragement.

One of our members described it like this:
Welcome, welcome. When I first found this group, someone said it's like a "salon" = cozy café. Different conversations at different tables. There's the fun table, the support/listener/good cry table, the cooking and recipe table, the health/weight loss table, etc. Some of us jump from table to table. All the time. It's really OK to sit by yourself in the corner and just listen. For as long as you want."

My word for 2023 is "please" to remind me to be kind and do things that will please me and the others in my life, to remind me that politeness (saying "Please") will take me far in dealing with others, and to urge me make my environment as pleasing as possible (organizing and decluttering might fit in here).

I did my dumbbells thirty reps Yay! Good thing, because I ate a lot of chocolate today. I ran out of spinach for my mango smoothie, but that's not a good excuse. Hope to eat better tomorrow.

Barbie - What Katla said. I'm so grateful for this space and the people therein. Thank you!

My goals for January were all met in their own way,
✅ - Be lighter - Yep. At the beginning of January, I was at 152.2, and this morning, 149.9.
✅ - Be healthier - Yes! See below.
✅ - Stick to the budget - See below.

February goals:

✅ - Maintain my weight: I was 171.1 on January 31, 2022 and 149.9 this morning. You may have noticed that I changed it to maintenance. I'm happy at this weight, and hope to stay in 145-150 range from here on out.
✅- Be healthier: I was able to load and pull my garden cart filled with wood twice today from the wood shed to the carport without losing my breath or feeling my heart overbeating. Very pleased. I'm coming back to myself a tiny amount each day.
✅- Stick to the budget: We got a chunk paid off on the house last year, and we had planned to get it completely paid off, but we're putting away every penny now in hopes that we'll be able to buy the property next door to us, which has a teardown house that has been used over and over by squatters. The owners are finally looking to sell it, but have been MIA since mid-December. Still hoping for that,
and in the mean time, continuing to put cash away.

Today husband treated me to Arbeys, and I ordered a Rueben, curly fries.
This evenings dinner 3 street taco sized tortillas pizzas: sauted mushrooms, some sausage bits, a spoonful of sun dried tomatoes and some diced tomatoes, black olives and Italian shredded cheese.
Tomorrow is an eating lighter day!
No real goals this month, just to persevere through.

Tracey, your mother in law is lucky to have you! I sincerely hope the family is able to straighten out the mortgage mess! Sounds like the stuff nightmares are made of!!

Sorry, once again been reading, but not commenting and the memory is not what it used to be!! lol

Hubby and I went out for dinner tonight. There is a local promotion called "Dine Around and Stay in Town" that goes from Jan 20 to Feb 5, it was started to get people spending some money during the time when business would slow down for hotels and restaurants. The businesses will set special prices etc as a perk. I had been given a $100 gift card to the Keg and we were talking to our chiropractor and she was encouraging us to go out, so we went, "Hey, why not?" The gift card only covered half of the meal, but it was really good and we brought home enough beef to make another meal! Hubby even brought home some of his potato. I'm looking forward to that for Thursday night, I will have our granddaughter all day, and our son works late usually on Thurs. Our daughter in law works from home two days a week and in her office the other two. Thurs is one of the other two, so last week she was the first one home and that wasn't until 5:30, I'm expecting the same this week, so it will be really nice to just be able to warm up the leftovers. Needless to say, my CI is WAY over my CO! That's okay, tomorrow is another day.

January went well, I did end the month 3.2 lbs lighter than when I started, so I'm pleased with that. It's a modest loss, but I realized that if I do that every month this year, by the end of Dec I will be 4 lbs away from goal. I can live with that!
I must head off to bed, need to get some good rest so that I can work dinner off tomorrow !

Busy day. Picking up the girls from Art and keeping them until 3 ish. Then I have my friends' Zoom at 4. My DDIL dropped the remark that she was taking the kids to Fatto a Mano for early dinner and asked if we wanted to join them. I said yes, so as soon as I have finished the Zoom, we will dash for the bus.

I'm hoping the girls won't be all 'arted out' so we can decorate some of the coasters I bought. If they don't feel like it we can do something else. Bea was keen to play Swashbuckle on my tablet.

So lovely to have a new month. I love your meme, Barbie. I am feeling as if I need to let go of the past and look to the future. I have a couple of changes I need to make in my life. My word for 2023 is FREE. Old loops of thought, old heaviness, I need to let go. Today is a new day. Right now is enough.

2023 Goals

My 2023 goals are a continuation of my 2021 and 2022 goals based on my ToDo list and my 50Things list with reference to a Wellness Wheel.

Upcoming Appointments - these are at the top of my list. The things I need to deal with in the next few weeks.

Intellectual/Occupational/Financial or Education/Career: Advancing my career. Moving from adequate to proficient at SQL, brushing up on VB and cost accounting, learning Python and data analysis software.
Also, I want to have a closer look at our financial situation to see where we can save money and to make sure we're on top of things.

The goal is to expand my skillset and to improve our financial situation.

Medical: my husband's appointments, which I also need to attend because I'm his ears and cognition and my appointments now that I've been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease.
I also want to create medical record binders (and on the computer) for both of us, in case something happens.

The goal is to keep us as healthy as we can be and to ensure we have information at our fingertips.

Fitness/Sports > Cycling > Audax Tasmania: There are a number of fitness/sport things I'd like to try, with a focus on cycling, and a large part of my cycling endeavours includes my volunteer work with Audax Tasmania ... and maybe even riding some events again myself!
On my 50Things list I have all sorts of things like riding a horse for the first time, trying archery, learning to dance. Maybe this might be the year to try a bit of that.

The goal it to improve my fitness level.

House > Office > Computer become more specific as they go along. I have a number of thing which need to be done in the house (kitchen, dining room, etc.) but most importantly the home office needs a whole lot of work. And along with that I need to organise the drives on my computer into a better filing system.

The goal is to have an organised and decluttered house and computer system.
The goal is also to ensure all paperwork is up to date and accessible by both of us.

Garden: I have several projects I would like to do this year. One of the main ones is to finally finish my dry stream.

The goal is to have a pleasant, creative, relaxing and functional area outside for reading, exercise and socialising.

Spiritual: Continue to read the Bible every day. And attend church a little bit more often.

The goal is to learn, relearn, revitalise.

Emotional/Social/Recreation: More creativity, relaxation, connections. I have all sorts of things on my 50Things list like doing more with my photography, playing the piano again, working on my website and more.

The goal is balance. Doing a variety of things that aren't just work and education.

Highlights of January
• I exercised 30 days of the 31, and completed a total of 35 hours of exercise in the month of January between cycling, walking, climbing stairs, lifting weights, and doing lifting and digging in the garden.
• We completed the longest bicycle ride since my husband's accident: 100 km.
• Skin cancer surgery on nose and hip healing.
• I have seen my new doctor.
• And have had medical tests, including yesterday's nap, I mean MRI.
• No breast cancer. New lenses in my glasses.
• I finally have an appointment with a kidney specialist.
• In the garden, I've made progress on my dry stream project and am really pleased with the way it is looking.
• At work, I've produced my first official project plan and am now doing the consultations. Great opportunity, great learning experience.
• We're continuing our relationships and connections within the beekeeping community, cycling community and brain injury community.
• Plus I had lunch with the ladies I used to work with.
• We took the Christmas decorations down and have been tidying the house.
• I had a lovely 5-day weekend off work and we were able to travel to northern Tasmania. First trip anywhere since September!!
• More reading for pleasure, rather than study.
• I've been reading the Bible every day.
