Just turned 69, 5'6" with my only child's wedding happening about 7.5 months from now. (Think, Game of Thrones' "winter is coming" only substitute "photographer is coming")

Found out last week that I have gallstones, including one that's impacted and partially blocking a duct...surgery ahead, but for now it really focused my attention on getting as much fat out of my diet as possible. I even ordered the cutest little Vortex 1-serving air fryer, only $39.00 and in a happy pale blue color. Today I plan to christen it with mushrooms, brussel sprouts, asparagus, and green beans!

Then tomorrow I undergo a previously scheduled heart procedure (cardioversion, to get my heart out of the afib it began 4 weeks ago) so...it feels like a lot all at once. I doubt I'll hit my weight loss goal this month, but I will consider it a big achievement if I just continue to avoid stress eating and alcohol. So far, so good :)

My name is Donna. I am 62 years old and I live in Michigan USA. I am 5’ 5” tall.

    Start Weight (from January 31, 2022 ): 194.8
Goal Weight: 189.8 (5 pound loss)

    End of Challenge Weight: xxxxx
Ultimate Goal Weight: 145-155 (I’ll know it when I get there!)

Weight in blue makes me blue because it’s a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because it’s a loss. Weight in black means no change.

02/01-194.6-(Trend Weight: 196.7)- It’s a short month but I will not lower my expectations for myself. I want the next five pounds gone! That would literally be finding me dipping my smallest pinkie toe into the warm welcoming waters of the 180’s (189.8). What a dream! It’s sink or swim!

02/07-196.6-(Trend Weight: 196.6)- I’ve been so back and forth this week and affected by travel. I’m just not doing any better on my choices in that department (in most cases). The required restaurants are just my weakness that I can’t seem to master most of the time. I’m a work in progress, even after all these years. The pro…..My trend weight is down a touch so I’m hopeful. Trendweight.com is also continuing to show my date to reach my goal weight getting better and better. Now, if I could just have the same faith in myself that it has in me based on my patterns!

02/14-193.8-(Trend Weight: 195.0)- It has been a very good week for me until last night. This weight reflects a good sized bump up after some self-sabotage. Saw a diabetic specialist yesterday and then spent the night doing exactly the opposite of everything they told me. I don’t know why I do this to myself but today and tomorrow will be redemption days. I’m proud of my progress so far and got to keep this engine rolling! It is not just a vanity thing at this point. My health really depends on it at this point.

02/21-192.4-(Trend Weight: 194.8)- After seeing the endo, I saw a dietician this past week who pumped my carbs up from 90 to 190-250. I tried it for 4 days, gained several pounds and my fasting sugar shot up to almost 300 (mine had been running 130-150.) Glucose is not a wait and see. It will IMMEDIATELY tell you if what you are eating is good or bad. I did give it the 4 days, then I promptly put myself back on my own plan that I had carefully crafted after much research and reading. My weight is going back down and so are my glucose numbers. I don’t think I’m going back to the dietician although quite a few sessions are expected. Dieticians are there because there is no one-size-fits-all with people. It is individualized. I tried to talk to her about my aversions with so many foods, my eating disorders, my insulin resistance after being diabetic for over 15 years, what my other doctors have been suggesting and she just didn’t hear me. I knew the increased carbs were suicide for me. I only stuck to it for a few days to prove it. My endocrinologist is giving me 90 days to show better glucose numbers on my meter or he’s putting me on insulin. I couldn’t let this dietician do this when my body’s response was horrid. No time to waste.

    02/28-xxxxx-(Trend Weight: xxxxx)-

Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!
    250’s; 240’s; 230’s; 220's; 210's; 200's; 190's; 180’s; 170's; 160's; 150's

No one knows your body like you do! I do low carb because it really works for me! Plenty of experts agree that low carb is good for you while plenty of others strongly disagree! Guess you need a dietician that will listen and be flexible to your needs ... diet is not one size fits all!
