Hello, I am recruiting support/motivation/inspirations. I just recently weighed myself for the first time in a few years and it made me want to engage in healthier behaviors and ultimately get to a healthy weight. I have been resistant to losing weight d/t many reasons (albeit subconsciously I realized).
I would like to lose 3-4 lbs through healthy methods (including self compassion/gentle challenging instead of shaming) by March 25.
Today's victories: I tracked everything I ate, I did not overeat when I felt discouraged, I talked to a good friend about my eating disorder recovery frustrations instead of keeping it in. Tomorrow presents more opportunities again.7 -

I’m definitely ready for spring. Once the weather is better I plan to get outside for short walks and see how my bad hips do. Winter has been okay for the most part.
What makes me feel confident is finding fun ways to eat healthier, having healthier foods in the house, and making small steps each day.10 -

I feel like allergies are killing me this week. South Carolina has had plenty of warmer weather the past week and everything is starting to bloom early.... which means the pollen is already attacking. Hopefully I'll be more myself by next week when I get more used to my face feeling attacked with every breath. That said, when it's this warm I always want to open every window and air out the house, so feeling this way is my own fault. I love fresh air but I hate how the pollen makes me feel.
I got to Zumba class last night and we got to our trivia night event too. I did eat too much dessert since my daughter kept trying things and not liking them. I HATE when things go to waste. That tends to cause me issues when I'm out with my kid who loves to try things but doesn't love everything. I want her to try new things and I want her to be adventerous but then when something isn't a favorite I end up snacking on the leftovers. Thankfully, I had eaten light through the day and my calories didn't go over at all.

=Winter treated us pretty well with the exception of my husband's hospital stay. In a perfect world I would hit my goal weight, meaning be "overweight" instead of "obese" by my next doctor appointment. I don't know that it will happen because I'm not forcing it or denying myself everything but I would truly love to do that by mid-May. When it gets warm out I love opening the windows and getting outside. I need more of my allergy pills and I need to hydrate more but it's worth it.

=I've been doing this journey with friends since this past January. I've obviously been on this journey a lot longer than that, years actually. But doing a bible study about weight loss, having accountability with friends, it makes it easier and it also makes me more confident in myself and my ability to stay the course. Having someone you trust and love and are doing this journey with stand in front of you and tell you that you have body dismorphia, that you aren't as big as you think. It makes me feel more confident in myself and this journey.

How did winter treat me....well I kinda fell off of the healthy diet wagon during the holidays and gained 6 lbs back, but since January I am down 10 lbs. Figured out that I've entered into perimenopause and having to learn to work with my crazy hormones now. Aiming for 5 lb weight loss for March...to break out of the 250s into the 240s!!
What makes me feel confident in myself? I have troubles with self doubt and anxiety, but I do better with my confidence with positive verbal feedback and also seeing myself hitting goals or a NSV...like fitting into smaller sizes!
We are traveling this weekend for a martial arts tournament, so going to be eating out for a couple of meals. Hoping to fight off the temptation of the fried foods and pick healthier options.3 -

My name is Mary, 65 from Pennsylvania.
Been MIA for a few months but still logging in everyday since I started MFP 5/14/21.
Unfortunately lost my mojo and gained a lot back but not all Thank God! Need to get back on track and focused. I bought a NEW to me, gently used, Commercial PreCor EFX 835 Elliptical. It was delivered the beginning of November, as others here know I wore my previous 10+ year old one out from my extensive workouts. Back up to 150 minutes on my 3 days off per week.
Good to see some familiar names here and glad to see some new ones too!

March Goals:

So the end of January and most of February were pretty rough for me. I spent about 5 weeks either sick/injured/quarantining or a combination thereof. For the end of February, I felt really out of control and doubled down on my binge eating.
For March, I'm in a better headspace. My goal is to reacquaint myself with the weight machines/floor exercises at the gym and to get back into the pool. I'm hoping to lose the weight I put on last month and maybe a pound or two more. But really, just reestablishing my routine is the most important thing at the moment.
I've been seeing a pelvic floor physical therapist for the last six months to deal with pain and other issues and we talked about burnout this week. She asked if I was okay committing to another round (2 months) of PT (if my insurance approves it, fingers crossed) or if I needed a break, mentally. And I really appreciated that question, because it hadn't even occurred to me.
I think the end of February was me being burnt out from getting sick/injured/doing PT/and just being too focused certain things. I'm trying to start fresh in March with a clean slate and a calmer mind.
Things that make me feel confident? Planning and my ability to plan/make charts/make lists/color coordinate and my overall organization skills. Why I'm confident that this is the right time for change? I think the stars have aligned to put me in the right place, with tools and help I wouldn't normally have available to me. I'm confident that if I use what's being offered, I've got this.

@mling84 Self-compassion is such an under-rated thing, but so important. I'm also going to try to remember to be as compassionate to myself as I would be to my friends this month.
@bonniemcc4 I'm also going to try for short walks this month and see how my bad knee does!
@pamperedlinny I'm so glad you can share your journey with people in your life that you love and can trust 100%.
@kelliward1 I fell of the wagon too...and then it ran over me! Congrats on your January progress.
@jen99382 Self-sabotage gets us all at certain points. And more and more, it seems to me that motivation can't really be found, but it can be developed. Just start doing one thing that you'd like to develop into a habit (ex: eating X amount of fruits and veggies every day, working out X days a week, etc) over and over and you'll notice that you've suddenly gained momentum/motivation. For me, I need to SEE progress in certain areas, so I keep track of my healthy habits on a chart and/or on my white board, and that helps with the motivation.
@swimmom_1 Glad you got a new elliptical and would that we could all wear out a machine with our beast-mode workouts!!! Congrats on all your progress so far!2 -
@RavenStCloud kudos to you for getting out of the binge from Feb. For me, initially getting out of one is usually one of the harder things to do. Re-establishing routine after an injury is a great form of self care!!

Does this thread support posts throughout the week here about victories/struggles or is it just goal post and then follow up? I'm thinking it would help if I posted here multiple times a week.
Today's victories: Logged everything I ate, walked for 10 min after dinner to decrease blood sugar spike, listened to positive weight loss podcasts, was only 50 calories above my calorie goal today
I was thinking about how outcomes focused my March goal post was (i.e., loose 2-3 lbs by March 25). I think being solely focused on that triggers my anxiety/eating disorder so I'm adding these process-oriented things to offset that:
1. Log in things I eat shortly after if possible
2. Re-direct myself to the millions of productive things I have to/can do when I want to eat out of boredom, anxiety, etc
3. Focus on exercise as medicine/enjoyment/cleansing/empowerment instead of just how it can change my appearance
4. Not eat in the middle of the night3 -

@mling84 Some people post in here daily. Some once a week. Some just on occasion. I tend to post a few times a week so you certainly wouldn't be the only one.2 -
I'm in the Hogwarts Weight Loss Challenge for my second "term" and enjoying it immensely. This week I did a meatless meal challenge where for lunch or dinner each day I had a meatless meal. I've always found that not having meat on a higher cardio day I don't always feel well, so doing three days in a row with one of my heftier meals not having a meat was interesting. I actually feel really good this time around. Then again, I only did one meal a day meatless rather than entire days.
Tuesday I had a spaghetti squash vegetable stir fry.
Wednesday I had tomato spinach pizza.
Today I had Madras lentils, rice and green beans.
Tonight I'm hoping to get to my Zumba class. Tonight is the teacher who is super high intensity and I end up modifying half of the class but it's so much fun anyway.

Happy March every body. My starting weight is 96.8
I met my February goal which was very modest, lost 2 kgs in Feb. Would really like to lose 3 kilos in March, but we have an anniversary trip away , so 2 is more likely.
I am making an xtra effort this week, in another forum. And that has begun well
Goals: to stay within my calorie limit, to swim at least x 4 every week. To drink at least 2 cups of green tea a day, instead of black tea or coffee. Be more sociable!

Well it's Sunday...this weekend flew by fast. We travelled to San Antonio for the martial arts tournament and I earned 3 bronze medals in the group I competed with. My son won Adult Gup (those who have colored belts and not black belts) Grand Champion. My daughter and husband each earned a medal too. Went off of my diet a little, not too bad but the numbers scale went up. Gotta get back on track this week.5

-there were at least three times I had the strong urge to "just go all out" when I ate more than I intended to, but I just stopped.
-My week's deficit is 2805
-Did not eat in the middle of the night 4/7 days
For this upcoming week:

Hey all!
It's been a good weekend but I wish there was more of it. I started reading Everything Fat Loss by Ben Carpenter. I enjoy his posts on social media so I'm looking forward to the book.
I also made a big heart shaped pizza for dinner and kept myself to admit 1 1/2 servings rather than the huge amount I was craving.

It always feels so grim after the holiday season. I am very grateful for warmer weather and seeing color starting to come out in nature. In this new season, I hope to continue losing weight and finally get to that magical mystery number when I can have surgery on my hip. That is my fervent hope and prayer

I don't have any other choice than to be successful in losing weight. If determination counts for anything, I will get there. Not to say that there aren't plenty of days when I feel like it is unattainable. I believe in myself; on days I don't I have a loving husband who keeps me going. A community of supporters who believe in me is everything as well. I am grateful I have the tools at hand to meet my goals.
My goals for March are to lose 7 pounds, log every day, and journal twice a week. The mental struggle is as real as the physical struggle

Previously I was weighing in only on Friday or Saturday but as I’m getting closer to my real goal I’ve been weighing in more often. Funnily enough, I almost didn’t weigh in this morning because I didn’t think I would see anything after snacking at book club last night but now I’m really glad I did.
I hosted my book club last night and was so glad because that meant I had some control over the snacks. Instead of just one of two things I put out a whole spread and just let the other stuff brought suppliment. That meant I had veggies, pretzels, light dip, cheese, etc. I still had some dessert and chips but it certainly helped me keep to my food boundaries to have the lighter options mixed in.
Tonight I will go to my Ladies Bible Study at church and, unfortunately, that means I have zero control over the dinner served. I did get my hands on the menu and it isn't light by any means. It's a chicken corn chowder and corn bread and dessert. I've seen the recipes by these ladies. It's sooo good but so not good for you. I'll just have to keep my calories lower through the day and maybe have a small snack an hour before the dinner so I can keep myself in check easier. It's always good to strive for a plan.
@pdd1216 We all have weeks that our brain just doesn’t compute. Glad you found us this week!!! I’m so glad you have the support of your husband. My husband called me skinny mini this morning. I know I have a long way to go if I ever want skinny but having that support when you just don’t feel it makes a world of difference.

Last night I got to Ladies Bible Study and looked over all the food. Chicken Corn Chowder, homemade corn bread, three types of dessert, and I craved it all. Then I really took stock of what I had available in calories. I made a very small bowl (probably just 1 cup) of the soup. I took the smallest bit of cornbread (about ½ a piece). I looked over all the desserts. Only one had a box with calories listed on it. I decided that was the one I was meant to have and cut one of those in half as well. I filled my 24 oz water bottle, drank the entire thing during that meal. After the meal, I went and refilled the bottle to sip on during the lesson. When I got home I still wanted something and was proud of myself for sticking to my boundaries while not depriving myself of things. I finished my evening with a small protein shake (half scoop of powder with almond milk) so I wouldn’t still be hungry. It feels like it took a massive amount of will power not to go back and get as much as I really wanted. I’m really, truly proud of myself for holding to my line.
Tonight I promised my family it would be pasta night. The plan for my bowl is going to be steamed cut green beans, topped with exactly one serving of elbow pasta, topped with 2 appetizer sized meatballs, marinara sauce, and the tiniest sprinkle of Italian blend shredded cheese. I have learned that on pasta night if I add a veggie in a similar shape to the pasta of choice that week and a little bit of protein, I will be too full to need additional pasta. It took me a while to figure out how to eat pasta with my family without losing all control. So this is the plan every pasta night now.
Thankfully, we have no plans for going out, running errands, or doing anything but stay at home tonight. I need a break and maybe a bubble bath tonight.

Good morning everyone! One of my days off of work so was able to get a little extra sleep. Had martial arts classes last night and didnsome yoga this morning. Always feels good to get a good stretch the day after a workout.
Been staying within my calorie range, even with my husband and I's weekly lunch date on Tuesdays. We went to a seafood place this week and I got the grilled whitefish instead of fried. I did enjoy a few French fries along with the meal. Learning to find the healthier items on the menus and look at calories, seen salads that the calorie count is sky high! Usually go for grilled chicken or fish...except salmon, can't stand salmon. Either have unsweetened tea or water.
Weighed myself this morning and down into the 240s now! 249.2 Goal is to be around 245 at the end of the month.7 -

I don’t know where to start this post. I’ve always struggled with my weight. The lowest weight I can remember being was 175/180 back in 2012 after I had my first child. Since then, my weight has consistently fluctuated between 225-240, occasionally going above. When I had my third and last child in 2021, I managed to get down to 216. But have since gained it all back and then some.
I really struggle with self discipline and I’m going to try my best to work on that this month. It’s getting to a point where my weight is really affecting my day to day life.
Any tips or insight would be greatly appreciated. I’m so grateful I found a group like this. Hoping it helps! 💚6 -
Victory share: I had a hard day today, starting with eating 2 1/4 muffins at 2 am that added up to 1000 calories. It was so tempting to say f it and overeat and not move after work. But I went to the gym and did 42 min on the elliptical and ate a small dinner. I took a walk during lunch for 10 min. I am finishing the day under calories and feel better than I would have if I had chosen to overeat and skip exercising. Not easy to avoid all or nothing thinking/acting, but I did it today 😵6

I've officially gotten back to my lowest adult weight as of this morning. I'm 5 lbs from hitting the "overweight" catagory. I'm 15 lbs from my real goal weight.
I'm planning to get to my Zumba class tonight but no other big plans in the works today. Just a lot of work to get done.8
