The caption for this picture was head up wings out. I thought this was one of the best nature pictures I have seen and love the sentiment. Just thinking of the image is empowering to me!5 -
Rita— Your lists are useful & valuable. I am so pleased that you’re focussing on good things. Your daily “spoilers” are welcome in my opinion. Choosing kind words when talking to yourself is valuable. ❤️ I like your zen tips, too. 🌸
Debbie— I wear my mask regularly when I am near others. It makes sense. I haven’t seen a mask that keeps off of a person’s face. I hope it works for you. 🌺
Barbie— It is Sunday morning and there is slushy snow outside so I am walking inside. I also have the good luck to have an exercise machine available to me. I appreciate the opportunity to move more. 👍🏻
I walked to DH’s room a few minutes ago and found him asleep after he finished his lunch. I’ll check in on him later this afternoon. ❤️7 -
Rebecca You are absolutely right that your solution will come from finding your own tools to address your sadness and loss and grief about your son. I and others have found our ways and you will, too. Counseling was not a solution for me but it has been for others and it might be for you. If the Navy moms aren't giving you the support that is helpful then don't go back. Find a solution that works ❤💖7

The insert in my mask is one dh made with his 3D printer. It is supposed to be so your lipstick doesn't get on your mask but it is great for me with my asthma. The mask still keeps my nose and mouth covered but not right against my mouth.2 -
Well I followed my Sunday pattern of a big lunch then a yogurt for dinner, and I'm over by 77 calories. I had planned today as a rest day, but I've been up and down the stairs all day. But now there is a space in the basement for my stationary bike!

This is a fast posting group and I made it through all of February and up to page 8 in March! I will catch up more later!
Thank you all for the heartfelt condolences. I appreciate these very much.
Somehow the Celebration of Life got set for Saturday March 11, 2023 outside of Boston. This is a little sooner than I had anticipated, but it will be good for the family to be together. This will be a family ceremony of about 30 people.
Followed by lunch at an historical Inn where we will be staying. I am not looking forward to the travel. It is rather soon to fly and will be cold! I have a jacket on order from North Style to arrive tomorrow. I hope it fits!
I do have bursts of tears and will be joining a bereavement group. Most people have been very caring and interested in my husband and the obituary. This has been wonderful. Several friends from high school have been in contact. Unfortunately, a friend I considered a close friend here has not handled this so well. I went to visit her on Saturday and she was pre-occupied with the fact that her Internet was out. She was calling AT&T with me sitting there as a new widow. I left. Later she reminded me she had been a widow for 2 years. I have been a widow 6 days....she was fairly rude. But everyone else has been caring and sympathetic and I appreciate all their kind thoughts.
I am still not exercising...still tired...but I have put together a eulogy....and my son will give a eulogy and 4 people from the family will do readings...so I have an Order of Service put together. 3 high school friends will come to the Inn for dinner on Saturday evening.
I guess I'm rambling. I hope you are all well. Loved seeing Miles with the snowman and Heather I know you will get that scene from your bedroom window just the way you want it! Lanette..thank you for the poem. I do have regrets and they could turn into self pity. This is why I will do a bereavement group.
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia

How to Save Your Muscles from Aging:
Preface - I seem to spend my time going down rabbit holes, lol. Feel free to skip - I know you folks are busier than I am! Too cold to work outside right now, rain on the way.
This video popped up on my YouTube feed a few minutes ago.
It's one of the best I've seen explaining how, as we age, we lose mostly "Fast Twitch" muscle - muscle that is stimulated by strength training, and it seems lifting heavy enough weight that the muscles get very fatigued is the key. I reckon this is why the SWSY is effective, and if the weight is heavy enough that we can power through the first set but can't finish the second set, it's doing the job.
Warning **the presenter is in an anatomy lab, briefly using human cadaver arm muscle to explain how this works.**

PS - the video that followed this one showed the anatomy of a stomach including how much food a stomach can comfortably hold. Looks like a liter.4 -
Allie-Your hip and thighs sound like mine did when my regular old arthritis went bone on bone in my hips-none of the the fancy types. An xray sounds like a good idea. Get it checked out soon my friend.
Rosemarie-good to hear from you. It sounds like you are taking care of business-which is what we do. Your friend does sound interesting. Good for you to recognize you have regrets that can go to self pity-I think we all do. I finally pretty much came to grips with the fact that what was, was.

March Action for Happiness:1. Set an intention to live with awareness and kindness. I intend to live with awareness and kindness5. Bring to mind people you care about and send love to them. We chatted with our girls about other family members, and raised a glass to them.
2. Notice three things you find beautiful in the outside world.Trees silhouetted against the sky; the appearance of snowdrops in spring; the sound of waves breaking on the shore.
3. Start today by appreciating your body and that you are alive. I meditate on this each morning when I wake up, and am grateful for each new opportunity to have a good day.
4. Notice how you speak to yourself and choose to use kind words. Positive affirmations are very powerful. Be kind to yourself, always.6. Have a ‘no plans’ day and notice how that feels.
7. Take three calm breaths at regular intervals during your day.
8. Eat mindfully. Appreciate the taste, texture and email of your food.
9. Take a full breath in and out before you reply to others.
10. Get outside and notice how the weather feels on your face.
11. Stay fully present while drinking your cup of tea or coffee.
12. Listen deeply to someone and really hear what they are saying.
13. Pause to watch the sky or clouds for a few minutes today.
14. Find ways to enjoy any chores or tasks that you do.
15. Stop. Breathe. Notice. Repeat regularly.
16. Get really absorbed with an interesting or creative activity.
17. Look around and spot three thing you find unusual or pleasant.
18. If you find yourself rushing, make an effort to slow down.
19. Appreciate nature around you wherever you are.
20. Focus on what makes you and others happy today.
21. Listen to a piece of music without doing anything else.
22. Notice something that is going well, even if today feels difficult.

Well I had more chocolate for a total of 1257 calories then I walked off all but one. So much for rest day!
Rosemarie our thoughts are with you. Take care.

Rosemarie, I am so glad you checked in. It sounds like you have a wonderful service planned for your husband. I’m sorry your friend was so rude. You do kind of find out who your real friends are when you go through something like you are experiencing. I have been slowly letting go of some “friendships” that were starting to feel one-sided. I will be nice, but I’m over giving, giving, giving, to be disappointed when I need to receive.
On the melatonin issue, I tried it. I prefer ashwagandha. But lately, even it is letting me down. I have a slight headache and sore throat, so I’m going to see what Nyquil will do for me tonight.
Our new mattresses are being delivered tomorrow. The plan is to strip the beds first thing. I will head out to the laundromat with the blankets, quilts, and mattress covers. Dave will wash and dry the sheets at home in our washer. We should have nice clean bedding to go on them. Let’s see how I sleep tomorrow night! I wanted to buy some new sheets, but I couldn’t do it. All I looked at were super expensive, and we need to reign it in a bit.
I don’t see how some of you survive on 11-1200 calories. I have a hard stay staying under 1600 and then I still barely meet my protein goals.

Edie did a Matilda book cover. DH copied an Art Deco poster. Great fun was had by all. Relaxing afterwards.
Edie did this on my phone.
Just waiting for my son to collect her.

I had a great day with my mom and sister today sitting watching a movie. My leg is doing better but it's still hard to do the stairs up and down. I tried to rest it as much as I could today because I know tomorrow will be a busy day. Another Doctor appointment gastrologist this time. Then shopping with my family. I hope my old leg is up to it. Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow.5
