I've been AF and sleeping better because of it. We are going away for our anniversary this weekend and I will stay AF until then. That being said, I do not want to overindulge and ruin our weekend with a hangover. We are planning on seeing an old friend for lunch on Saturday and I want to feel and look my best.7

Finally, an AF night! Today makes #2. Most of this month I have room in my calories for a glass of wine, which gave me the internal permission to have one. Tonight I made myself not have any because I’m back in the habit of drinking every night and I want to know I can break it. Plus I’m still trying to lose those last 7 pounds!9

Tuesday 3/21
Arrived at our cozy campsite this afternoon and set up pretty quickly. It’s been raining all evening and the sound is soothing. First time
in our trailer that I have been AF and it felt strange as I used to drink champagne upon arrival and have a few drinks daily.
I decided to remain AF until Thursday or Friday.
March accountability goal: 20-23 AF days
Rolling total: 15 AF out of 20 days
AF - 15
A - 5
Goals: No more than two glasses per A day8 -
I haven't been AF but I'm drinking less than I was. It's a battle.
Today, I walked into the gym closet and had a talk with myself, I have to learn how to separate that space from the fact that B spent his last nights in there. I have to find a way to accept that I did what I had to do, that getting three of four hours of broken sleep a night was taking my capacity to function effectively away from me, and if I couldn't take care of myself, I couldn't take care of him. I have to believe that he knew just how loved he was.
I know that he did. It's those little constant reminders that I find around the house that just tear me apart.
It's getting better, I'm getting through my days and getting things done and not finding myself consumed with the grieving process. I've been tapering off the atarax and delta 8, taking less and less each night. The end of the night has always been the hardest part for me, when I find myself trapped in my own head. I can go to bed, lay there staring at the ceiling or the backs of my eyelids, and drag myself through it while my brain churns, or I can stay up and try to occupy myself until fatigue forces me to sleep. For most of my adult life, I've tried to quell the churning with one thing or another.
Harley seems to be doing better, as well. He's been hacking and wheezing, though - I'm pretty sure it's pollen allergies, he does this every year. He spends a lot more time with me lately, curled up near my feet.

3/19, 3/20, and 3/21 - AF (sleeping great too!)3

@mfowler883 grief is a hell of a thing, and the best way out is through. I commend you for going through the difficult process instead of avoiding it. Keep that positive self talk going, because it’s absolutely true. B knew you loved him, and you gave him the greatest gift by having the courage to put him down when he, as you said previously, let you know it was time.
I think the hardest thing for us as pet parents is the guilt we feel actually being the one to make the appointment. In nature he would have just slinked off and passed by
himself. There is no one to drive him to the vet. Hugs!!!!7 -
My weight is down today again, and I slept really well last night. Must remember this if tempted to have a glass of wine again tonight after work!7

Hello My "LA" friends! Happy March! I am SO ready for spring! My goal is 16 AF days minimum in a month. I'm drinking less for weight loss and the additional health benefits. I usually post the next morning.
Tue 3/21: Drinks (4) - Well, 2 beers at the brewery led to 2 more drinks later at home. Dang! Not my plan.
Rolling Total: 9 AF Days out of 22

I am Dawn, I live in South Eastern British Columbia.
I joined this thread in November of 2018, a daily drinker at the time
My primary goal with drinking less is weight loss.
My usual goal is 16-20 AF days for the month,
I had 16AF days for the shortened month of February.
I do this diary style, I normally post the next morning.
Sunday March 19 - AF - I plan to rack up more AF days this week. I have plans for the weekend including drinks. I will see if I can stay AF during the weekdays.
Monday March 20 - 2 1/2 drinks. 2 would have been enough, yes, 1/2 went into the freezer. Very long day, I worked at one job and then worked out of town at another. I didn't even try to abstain. Planning AF for Tuesday.
Tuesday March 21 - AF - Working a split shift Wednesday with another job during my 2 hour break. No plan for AF or A Wednesday night as I type this Wednesday morning.
Rolling total: 10AF day out of 21 days.2 -
AF again tonight. That makes 3 for the month so far. I’ll alert the media.9

My verdict for my compromise Monday night is, the new NA beer I tried, Crux Hazy IPA is decent. Not the best NA beer I've had but not the worst and, it's only 30 calories. The cookie was over-cooked but still pretty good. I was very glad I stayed NA Monday.
Tuesday I had 3 lower alcohol beers which is less than my average 4-5 with higher alcohol level. Tonight I am back to NA with the Crux. I still have a couple of the NA Lagunitas so I might have one of those later.
So far for March, 12 AF (including today)/22
(goal minimum 16 days AF for March)

@mfowler883...tight, tight air hugs for you and pats for "H"...short note...When I owned a house with my younger sister and her 6 cats...[yeah, and I'm allergic to cats...TDB] ...her fluffy "Super Wop" and I were on the same allergy meds...we spent mucho tiempo nose to nose discussing our issues...Whatever would people do without our furry companions ?? They understand.7

Thanks for the hugs. Every day I'm doing a little better and that's all I can ask for. Been getting stuff done that's needed done, working on some of my projects that have stalled or been back-burnered. Making more time to play guitar and enjoy listening to music, as well. I need to add gym time to the routine. Since we opened our own business, it's been hard to make time to focus on myself. I have to fix that.
I cut an imperial stout with an NA porter, nursed that all night. Not AF but less. I'll take that for what it is.
Har-dog is sounding rough, even with twice daily benadryl. I think we're going to the vet tomorrow just to be on the safe side.

Had strange happenings today while relaxing at a beautiful campground in the misty rain….First the heater went out, then a light fixture was dripping very slow drops of water, and after I finished running a quick grocery errand I found that our truck battery had died and it would not start. I started thinking about that small bottle of red wine that would taste great right about then, but just worked through all the things. I was alone and very thankful for a portable battery charger my husband stuck under the seat as waiting for AAA would have been worse.

No Dr. appointments scheduled by me for 2 years, and they rudely sent me a letter saying that they would not renew my COPD prescriptions unless I showed myself for a visit . I was kind of done with my current provider after she failed to recognize symptoms of long covid [even though I had not ever had covid symptoms until I could not abide chewing and swallowing food ..and lost 30 pounds in one month.] I sorted it out my self during the following summer. In kind of a "Dr, Now" situation...I was totally " skin clinging to bones " . Really scarey. And kinda gross.
Anyway... the new Dr. is generations younger, much more receptive to answering questions . I had had a query about a 10 year old x-ray that techs, nurses, doctors could/would not answer ...Me, question....Them, answer...mumble,mumble, are you taking vitamin C ??...are you having stomache pains?? Yadda, yadda, blah, blah.
New Doc cut through the garbage ..."Air flow in the upper chamber is light colored...lack of air to the lower chamber shows as darker...that is why you have been diagnosed with COPD. Well, Jaysus...could some body have said that about 10 years ago ??10 -
Hello! I’m Amanda, I’m a crazy cat lady from Michigan! I joined this forum in June of 2022 and since September I have decreased my drinking to one day a month! This is a huge accomplishment from where I was and I absolutely could not have done it without the wonderful mix of people in this group!
March goals: just make it through the month unscathed! (27 doctor appointments)
Alcohol goals: 95-100% AF
3/1-3/7: 7 out of 7 AF
3/8-3/14: 7 out of 7 AF
3/15-3/22: 7 out of 7 AF
Rolling total 49 days AF
3/22: AF
Hello LA friends. Not much to report, lots of working and my radiation burns are a mess. I’m in quite a bit of pain and not sleeping well. I’ll be honest, I’m not doing well mentally, I have a lot of intrusive thoughts swirling around in my head and they are hard to control. I can hear the birds chirping outside even though it’s dark. I am going to give it my all to get outside today. Still AF though.

Hello My "LA" friends! Happy March! I am SO ready for spring! My goal is 16 AF days minimum in a month. I'm drinking less for weight loss and the additional health benefits. I usually post the next morning.
Wed 3/22: AF - I had two NA Brew Dog Hazy IPAs (40 calories total for the two and it's a tasty beer!) with dinner. March has been a struggle for me but as of today I can still meet my goal of 16 AF days.
Tonight is usually date night out but I am cooking dinner in because of all our recent outings. To get out of the house AND because the weather here is finally warming up a bit, DH and I are planning a walk on the Virginia Beach boardwalk after dinner. The plan is AF.
Rolling Total: 10 AF Days out of 236 -
@joans1976 Big hugs to you today and wishing you nice weather and happiness on your walk! I'd walk with you if I were closer!
@forestdweller1 Big hugs to you today today too! I'm glad you have a new and improved provider!6 -
Below is a photo of my new favorite NA beer. It's tasty for NA and only 20 calories! @zensome I'm going to try the Crux as well if I can find it.
