Well my husband’s NM (narcissistic mother) ruined Mother’s Day but hopefully that will be the last holiday or even day that she ever ruins for us again as my husband has now blocked her and all of her other minions in the family. I told him it’s time for you to be free. I pray he can stay strong.

@roz0810 You sound in a really good place right now. Congrats on your success with WW. I'm sorry about your friend. I was thinking recently that I'm heading towards a time when good friends may be passing on. I love spreadsheets. Especially color coded ones.

@senoritafloridita Beautiful pics. I love abbeys. Although I wonder is that an official abbey? Then I sat thinking what's the difference between a cathedral and an abbey. :D Time to stop thinking.
Thank you for sharing. I don't think dh is losing weight. LOL Although having said that, I'm not either. It's just stuck. This week I have been over calories alot but not on junk. I've been really diligent about reigning that in. I'm adding more f&v. I just keep plodding along. Your mother's day excursion sounded so nice. An outside concert in the grass. Adirondack chairs are my favorite. I have two in front with a little seating area that I sit in every morning after the gym.

@trooworld I hope you are better now. Does your hubby do anything special for Mother's Day for you from your furbabies? Your post to @roz0810 made me laugh out loud. We can always count on you to be our rock here.

@gemwolf110 How are your furbabies doing? When I saw your card I was thinking about people like you and @trooworld who only have furbabies.

@tamevv What exercise have you been doing this week?

@cbabie Well today is a new day.....Track your food, walk on the treadmill, etc. Have you had any medicine changes? Sometimes that can make you hold a bit of water. Your dh tries to exist on coffee and smoking. No wonder he's skin and bones. Maybe you should try his diet. ;)

I thought I was caught up then I saw a whole other page. :o

    @trooworld Glad you are better

@cbabie You said..."Sometimes it seems it's better/easier (LOL) to just be naive and just let life happen to you.. :)" That's what mom and dad did. So think about dad after his stroke. Think about him having his chest ripped open because he had to have a quadruple bypass. Think about mom losing her hair and breast to chemo. Sores in her throat and mouth because of radiation. Throwing up because of chemo. No energy for 8 years feeling like death warmed over as she put it. Life happened to them because they did not take control of their health. They thought it was easier to just sit in a chair and watch TV. Since having kids around can be chaotic, make your life simple simple simple. Eat the same thing for breakfast so no thinking about it. Think of two lunches and rotate them. Etc. Keep fresh fruit cut up when you are wanting to snack. Little containers of applesauce. Packages of baby carrots and some good dip. I was reading today in my Mayo Clinic diet book that said, "your overall blood sugar level is affected more by weight loss than by the small amount of carbs in fruit. So if eating fruit can help you lose weight, go for it. Include veggies and fruits in your meals." Thank you for listening to my PSA for today. :D

@senioritafloridita Sorry about your Mother's day. Some times it's better to let toxic people out of your lives. It's hard dealing with narcissism.

I almost didn't make it to the gym today but I did. I hit the snooze button but then laid there for 10 min. Then got up and got dressed and went to the gym. Did my hill/sprint program. I think I'm going to have to bump up either the speed or the incline. I wonder which would be better? Any ideas?

Morning all, I think I am fighting depression and trying to stay normal..whatever that is.. I don't think I have ever known normal. It's sad when your grandson tells you it's not normal and quit acting like it is. LOL. I keep reading about things that are good for your health, it's not about getting back into my size 4 jeans, but about being around for like my grandkids. ( I got one going to have a baby any day now) So my 3rd great grand child. How is that possible...I am only 20. LOL I know I have to make some changes, I know that what my sister said is true, I have to decide it's not always best to take the easy way out. I am just tired of the side effects of the drugs I "supposedly" have to be on. I want to find a way not to be on them and get my health in my food. LOL BUT THAT WOULD MEAN COOKING. :)

@trooworld hope the appraisal goes well. Yes you are our rock on here. Thank you

@roz0810 I am learning that counting calories is not good for me..I eat my calories in sugar. LOL..You know what can work for you!!!

@theslightedgeforever Thank you for always saying what needs to be said. No I will pass on the DH diet. LOL

@senoritafloridita Sorry about your MIL...I was just talking to my daughter last night about mine..it was sad to say I wasn't all broke up when she passed at 52. I felt bad about feeling that way, but was just so glad the turmoil she brought would be minimized....take today and enjoy every minute of it!

Morning all, I am really struggling with food right now. I don't even like to eat as it all feels like its bad for me and I don't enjoy it. the good part is that like a banana, I KNOW I have to eat it to bring my potassium up so therefore I am eating it. I don't know how I got so messed up. LOL

@trooworld Sorry you have to go in on Friday, but sometimes it's easier to get caught up because you are forced to focus. LOL Yes I would take not gaining as a win. LOL. Thanks on the congrats, he was born at 2 am, she had a long labor but he is healthy and she is doing good.

Furkids are doing good one has an ultrasound coming up to make sure her GI tract isn’t what is upsetting her. She is either eating grass/plants that are settling well for her, allergies or ruling out any physical issues. My other dog had his X-rays and vet feels as tho it’s a CCL partial or full tear. Having him start laser therapy in a couple of weeks and on pain meds. It’s raining today so they are all inside sleeping or just staring sadly out the slider which my youngest is doing.

    Yup! Furbabies for life lol

@roz0810 How has the switch in mealplans going? I'm just curious as what was your reasoning other than money. I know it can be very expensive. I think @trooworld uses the Healthi app. Or something like that. lol It sounded like you were being successful on it. I'm glad you have easy access to the gym. That always helps.

@trooworld Thanks for your opinion on the incline versus speed. It's a 30 min hill/sprint interval program so I will have both but right now I'm at a 4-8% incline with a 3.0 speed. Then a 3.5-4.3 speed with incline of 0.5%. But I can feel it's getting to easy so I need to bump it up. I couldn't decide to go with a 3.2 speed on the hill interval and leave the inclines the same or raise the inclines and leave it at 3.0 I do this once a week and then the other 4 days is a 15 min hill program with 4-15% incline with a 2.8 speed. I'm trying to get my hill endurance up so I can walk those hills on vacation this summer without stopping to catch my breath like I had to do the past two years. Boo on hubby not bringing you back food. Maybe he was trying to help you with your plan to be successful. Yaaay on tracking 3 days in a row.

@cbabie I'm sorry you are feeling blue. Remember our blue bedroom growing up? I know you hate meds but have you thought about taking something like St Johns Wort? Just to take the edge off? You know I'm all about solutions. Do as I say not as I do myself. :D You said..."I want to find a way not to be on them and get my health in my food. LOL BUT THAT WOULD MEAN COOKING. :)" Ok so how to work smarter not harder? Breakfast, lunch, and snacks can easily be done with no cooking or at the most throw some oatmeal in the microwave for 3 min. Not that hard. So that leaves 7 meals a week. There are things like crockpots, instapots, microwaves, grills, etc. that make that 7 meals easier. Have you thought about batch cooking once or twice a week. That cuts down the number of times you have to cook. You are thinking when would I have the time to do all this with a baby and 4 year old. It's the prep work that I think takes most of your time. That could be in blocks of times. I think the hardest thing is coming up with the 7 meals? So how about concentrate on one meal this week. Find a recipe and cook that. If you are cooking chicken breasts, cook a bunch at the same time. Refrigerate/freeze til needed. Would counting sugar grams help you reduce the sugar? Think of it like heroin. Start where you are as an average and then set your boundary lower by 10 g. When you get used to that you can lower it another 10 g until you get to a place that is good for your body. Sugar is the enemy and it's the culprit for so many diseases. Cancer, diabetes, etc. Congrats on the 3rd great grandchild. I still haven't figured out how this is my 3rd great great nephew. That makes me sound older than you. ;)

@gemwolf110 Sorry about the furbabies health issues. Is there pet insurance? Those visits and test can be so expensive. Are you still losing weight?

I went to dinner last night. Tex-Mex themed. Food was excellent. One of my neighbors went with me. She has lost 35 lbs now in 4 months. Amazing how much younger she looked. 80-90% of the time she doesn't eat dairy, sugar, carbs except what's in f&v. This made me think about carb cycling again. LOL I was so successful on it. But then I could just eat cheese and meat all day long and i know that not alot of vitamins and minerals in that. So I've been thinking all day how to combine my current plan with carb cycling. Why can't this be easier. The white pants I had planned on wearing to the dinner did not fit. I even went out and bought new white shoes for the occasion. lol Guess who had to make an outfit change at the last minute.

@trooworld Why I stopped carb cycling: Covid basically. I got sick in February for 3 weeks before we knew what it was and then shutdowns started. I started having groceries delivered. Sometimes they didn't have what I wanted. I remember eggs being a problem. Well you know how that time was. I started baking to pass the time. Dh and ds started working from home. Fun times! lol I've tried a couple of times to get back into it but couldn't seem to last for more than a week or two. I started a hybrid carb cycling program a couple of days ago. We'll see how that goes. I loved that book by Judy Blume too. I didn't realize they made a movie. The chicken kebab and hummus sounds really good. Have you thought about taking a pic of your snacks as you eat them when you are out then later you can go back in and track them when you have more time? My dd went to Omaha Zoo a couple of weeks ago I think it was and loved it. I told her she could have waited on me to get there so we could have went together. She's on a quest to visit all 50 states. She has checked off 44 with the zoo in Nebraska. This next week she will hit #45-48. All that's left is Alaska and Hawaii after that and we're going to Alaska in July. I told her she has to help me stay on my program while I'm there and not sabotage me. We are co-dependent food buddies.

Food has been good. Exercise has not. I have been physically tired and not done it first thing waking up. Then the day gets away from me. I'll figure it out. I lost a lb this week so that's some progress.

@trooworld Being tired: It could be a byproduct of my new eating plan. Less calories and carbs could be less energy for the body. Today I did my hill program and I actually had to lower the speed than what I normally do. Then sometimes I would grab the handles. It was too much for me but I finished it. Thanks for the rice bowl recipe.

I did make it to the gym first thing this morning. I said just do the cardio portion and that's it. But better than I did yesterday so.....

Hi all, I have had a rough week trying to work out a routine..LOL. I haven't tracked, I have gained 2 lbs and my body aches. I haven't exercised this week either. So much for my accountability.

@trooworld I am sorry you haven't slept well. I used to live off of 4 hours, now I take what I can get with the baby..I still feel tired if I get a straight 5 hours of sleep...I thought when you got older you slept less, I am beginning to think you need more. LOL

@theslightedgeforever You know I am proud that you are continuing to progress. You had to scale down some, but you didn't quit. That is a great mindset.

@trooworld No one wants to be around me if I don't get enough sleep. I just remembered I forgot to my maca root. I'm trying it for the energy it is supposed to give me. I need something for the memory, I swear.

@cbabie Back to the drawing board as they say. I'm not making as much progress as I would like though. But trying to be content with what I am doing. Food quality wise, I'm eating waaaay better. I can't seem to get my eating and exercise working at the same time. lol Imagine if I did those two plus the water thing......

But on the positive side today...I took an insulated water bottle with me and filled it with ice and water and drank that on my errands today. I am sitting here with my other water bottle and just stopped to take a big drink. So far today in the f&v department, I have had a banana, orange, cherry tomatoes, and butternut squash. I lifted weights for 15 min this morning when I got up. Usually I do my cardio in the morning but decided I really need to keep my bones strong and raise my metabolism by adding extra muscle to my body.

I made a really good side dish today. I halved some cherry tomatoes and then added some paneer (Indian cheese) squares and sauteed them in olive oil. Spiced them with garlic, onion powder, and italian season and a bit of salt and pepper. So good. I got in some good lycopene with that for my heart and cancer risk reduction. So easy too. Tomorrow one of my friends is having a 50th bday party. Mexican food is the theme.

Afternoon all, I didn't track and haven't yet today. I am eating better, but really need to eat more veggies and fruit. I saw the Dr assistant yesterday and didn't feel like I have been about myself, she made me feel better and I wasn't as unhealthy as I feel I am. I just don't like taking meds. However, I took a fall in my kitchen this afternoon and the whole house came running. I am fine, slipped on water on a hardwood floor landed on my face and my chest. I think I will have a bruise but otherwise good. It was one of those in slow motion. LOL

@trooworld So glad you got some sleep and feel better.. It's amazing the little things that count like sleep. LOL

@theslightedgeforever You are doing great, maybe not where you want to be, but not where you were.

@theslightedgeforever well that is good that your food part, the most important part, is going well. I’m doing well with food too and seeing losses but I’m impatient. I want to add in regular workouts, been sidetracked with new job. That’s a good idea about taking pics of food to track later.

@trooworld glad you recovered that you can go back to work but that’s too bad about the bad night of sleep. sleep deprivation is the worst. When that happens to me, sometimes it feels like a nightmare to go through the day.

Hope everybody is having a great start to Memorial Day weekend. It was a long hard week so glad to have made it to Miller time, lol. I’ve been doing well with tracking, I just need to work more exercise back in, take back some time that the new job took.

I’m disappointed that the MIL turned out to be the way she is. I wanted to like her. But I guess narcissism is an epidemic…maybe even another kind of pandemic. 😔

@trooworld No I don't drink coffee. I drink hot tea though. I'm glad you are feeling better. I saw you lost some weight. Good for you. Your program is working. Yaaay on the 10000 steps at the zoo.

@cbabie At least your household didn't just step over your body. :D I'm glad you had some good test results from your doc. What kind of f&v did you have today?

@senoritafloridita Miller time made me smile. Maybe start off with little exercise goals and then add more so you can fit it into your day. That's what I keep telling myself. :D I'm truly sorry about your mil.

Party was a blast last night. I think I danced probably 3 hours and I'm not exaggerating either. On the dance floor more than off. All different kinds of music. I did the macarena (which I had forgotten and finally did it correctly towards the end of the song. I was like I'm glad I'm in the back and then switch now I'm in the front. lol I limboed. I know that's not spelled right. Then there was a song called Low by Flo Rida and I got low, low, low, low. Now my back hurts this morning and all the muscles I probably don't use alot. It was fun though. I passed up some chocolates and had one little appetizer. Then took really small portions on the food. 1/4 piece of the bday cake. All in all a successful party. Even took a bit of salad which I never do at a party. lol It's the little things......

@trooworld I hope you find some time to exercise since your food will be on the unhealthy side at the gathering. That can at least help off set it a bit. Feet hurting: I bought a new pair of shoes just for this party and my toe box area was on fire by the end of the night. I couldn't wait to take off my shoes.

This has been a do nothing weekend so far. I'm supposed to be priming my wood furniture so I can paint it. It's almost done. Just one part left. I think I stayed up too late on Friday and now I'm paying for it.

Hope you all are having a good healthy weekend.
  • theslightedgeforever
    theslightedgeforever Posts: 2,482 Member
@trooworld Yes, I finished the priming part and dh will paint the rest. I do hear you on the exercise. Think of other things you don't like to do but still do them anyway. Why?
Besides losing weight. List for me all the things that doing some sort of exercise would benefit you. I have stopped for about the last 4 days(5?) I can tell you that my joints and body aches more. Go back and reread your posts when you were doing your machine thingy. I forgot what it was called. Remember posting the pics to us about how much weight you were lifting. Go back and read how you felt.

I know exactly how you feel. For the past 4-5 days I've been doing those things you mentioned. Oh it's been 3. See? seems longer. But I checked. Are your goals still too big? No really. You can actually Track one food. Exercise for 30 seconds. 15 seconds? Drink one ounce of water. I will do these myself today. Sometimes black and white thinking pops in to where no I didn't reach my goals but I did notice progress. For instance, I've been trying to get the habit of everytime I go out I take my water bottle with me. I didn't like to in the past because then I would have to stop somewhere to pee probably and don't like public bathrooms. Or feel the need to buy something if I'm at a fast food place using the restaurant. I don't need that extra food. So I found a water bottle that keeps the liquid really cold in heat and doesn't get hot to the touch. Perfect. I did it once and then the next time I went out totally forgot. Yesterday I went out and I knew it was only going to be about a 15 min errand. Why bother. But then a voice told me do it because I'm trying to form the habit. If I go out, I take the bottle. So I filled it up and took it with me. Two days done. Now this doesn't really look like any kind of success. Two days. Big whoopdee doo. But I did finish the bottle both times and that was 40 oz that I may not have put in my body. So I'm trying to count the little things that I'm doing right. Focusing on them. Because just focusing on what I'm not doing is so depressing. Oh another thing I have almost made into a habit. Is eating an orange at night while watching TV. Usually I don't eat anything else. Just that. Unfortunately last night might have also involved a bag of cheese popcorn with some chocolate. :( So I'm celebrating the fact that I did get in my fruit like normal after 8:30.

We don't want to wait until the doctor says we have diabetes. I can tell you that even getting that diagnosis doesn't make a person start exercising and eating mostly healthy foods. I had two diabetic parents. That's just a quick trip to heart attack, stroke, paralysis, toes cut off.

so hang in there and let's both do what is good for us today.

Morning all, I am here. I had a rough weekend...the fall hurt my knee. Couldn't get up with the baby...had to get him to sleep and hand him off to another person..LOL. But I am much better, iced it. True story..I had laid down with an ice pack on my knee and fell asleep, when I awoke I couldn't find it, so I got another one. I searched and searched...couldn't figure it out. I was telling my daughter that I looked and don't know where it went...SUDDENLY my 4 year old says...you mean my ice pack? I said what? She had found it and put it in her little "box".. Oh it's always fun around here. I got on the treadmill for almost 20 min today..that is good for me. I am going to work my way back up to my normal time. It's a must for me.

@theslightedgeforever LOL I can see you go down low..I would be in agony..LOL. Glad you had a good time

@trooworld You will get this, you have the determination...I think I want to give you some encouragement...don't wait until Diabetes...don't have to be dependent on a shot (if you don't have to). I watched my parents suffer so much with their health. Take a baby step, and track breakfast and try again the next day....

@senoritafloridita Thanks for the encouragement. Glad you made it to Miller time.. (Funny how we all remember some of the commercials). Mine we use around here (speaking my my DH). Give it to Mikey, he will like it. LOL

Morning all, (Trooworld). LOL. I have been so dysfunctional. I really need a routine, but not sure how to get one. I also have been feeling achy, tired and bloated. Let alone tired. My BP has been lower than normal, so I am throwing it tup to that. LOL.

@trooworld I am so glad you are here every day. What a treat for me to see your face when I log on. I am sorry that you are here by yourself. As hard as I try, I can't always get on here. That ap looks like it counts points? You know you are tracking and I am so glad to hear that your DH is supporting you by creating healthy food and not food that will sabotage you. Thank you for being you!!!!

Hi all…following along, even if not interacting. We are in OK, dogsitting until probably Monday. Typing an IPad again…don’t like it. Think my food has been a little better, exercise non existent. Air quality in Iowa last week was terrible from the Canadian wildfires, went for a walk in it, & coughing ever since. Finally went to Dr here on Tuesday & got medicine & think I am finally getting better today.

@trooworld…hope sharing your food helps. No judgement here, mine would probably be way worse! But wanted to say “aren’t those Bundt cakes good!” But oh, the calories in that little thing! Dh & I used to share & each get 1/4, but that’s like 2 bites, so now we each get 1/2, lol.

@cbabie, hope you feel better! When I went to Dr the other day BP was way higher than it had ever been! Scared me & my sil , too. She got out her BP machine to check it right then & made me bring it back here to check daily until we go home. I think it was the no sleep & constant cough, because it did come back down pretty well. I think low could make you tired.

Hope everyone has a good week. It’s hot here right now..think I still have my Iowa winter insulation on, lol.

@trooworld Just think. This is the only place you can talk to yourself and no one will think you are crazy. LOL Sorry about not being here. My routine is off and when my routine is off things just don't get done. Still trying to figure out how to STAY ON ROUTINE. I hope my little pep talk helped you. Now do me. :) You do whatever it is to help you succeed. The good news is that you are tracking again. I'm glad that dh will help and not make dessert every weekend.

@cbabie so you need a routine. I'm currently watching a tedtalk called Forget Big Change, start with a tiny habit. You really already have a routine. But it's not getting you to where you want to go. So think about this floss your teeth....floss one tooth. What do you want to add to your routine?

@retiredandlovingit Good to see you. I hate typing on a ipad/tablet too. Glad to see you are getting better. I know you enjoy your walks. My dd was in the south this past week and complaining how hot it was. She's used to MN weather. I'm going to visit her in about 3 weeks or so.

My painting project is finished. I moved it into my bedroom. Now to just get the the stuff moved into the cabinet. I've been decluttering so I have piles all over my bedroom. Plus my son is coming for a visit. I've been cleaning out his room (which I use for storage. lol) Lots of physical movement but no official exercise since Saturday. Hubby and I did a 35 min walk.

Is anyone else here doing any of the Meal Plans? I started the low-carb one. I'm still doing my carb cycling but using their tips and recipes.

@trooworld Yes on the calendar. I use Planyway on Trello. I don't always follow the calendar because life (hubby) gets in the way. I am scheduled, he is more when the mood strikes him. That was a good pep talk. Thanks. It's mostly the exercise. I prefer to exercise alone. I have done some exercise today. I was following the Tedtalk advice from yesterday. Insert a tiny behavior after an existing habit. So I chose exercise 10-15 min after cleaning my room. When it came time for that I thought I really need to go down and start lunch. Then decided I could actually do the exercise while I was waiting on my soup to simmer. It worked out fine. I went and did a hill program for 12 min. Sounds like you made good choices at the cafe and then at the ice cream place.

Mealplan: They were having a special in May that you could get 28 days free of a meal-plan. But had to join the mealplan by May 31 to qualify. I saw it on May 31. It has a schedule and usually 4-5 tasks a day to complete. They are easy. This first week we are only concentrating on lunches. Cook the meal. Pack your lunch (for workers outside the home) Then eat the meal for 3-4 days. It has a place when you are reading the recipe to log it straight from there. Then you only have to "copy to" the following days. Week 2 will be learning to prepare low carb snacks and lunches. I like it. Gives me something to focus on instead of eating what I want and then hoping they fit into the tracker without going over.

@trooworld I laughed out loud just now. WWTD? Obviously today I must be an imposter. I just had some pizza. More than one slice. Do as I say..... I wish I knew the answer to consistency. I was just reading something last night about this. I'll post a screenshot. Congrats on the award. That's really neat. Also I noticed you got in 75 oz of water. Woohoo!

Hi all, Yes I am still alive. Sometimes I wish not, but I am. LOL. Sorry I have been out. I had a Dr appt on Wed, I had a colonoscopy on Friday, and then a biopsy on my thyroid on Monday...so just starting to get back to a normal day today...I can't lift the baby, couldn't exercise, but by Friday...I should be able to do anything. Now if I just will.LOL

@trooworld Sounds to me like you are back in the game. you may have gained a bit, but I think you are going to see the results of your consistency. Congrats on the award!!! You and DH enjoy things outside of your home, that is great.
