Afternoon all, I did terrible eating yesterday. I had some news that put me in an emotional eating stage. Not good that I did that, but I did and am moving on. I am working on "taming" my hair today. I need to do something for ME. I don't want to cut it, but can't stand it..we will see. I have been looking at some new "looks" in my Mary Kay ap as well...just need a change.

@trooworld I laughed at myself, I was speed reading your post and saw after the drinks we went to play...I was thinking what did you play? Hide and seek? See if you can catch me? LOL. So I reread it and saw the "a play" lol. Glad you are enjoying your weekend. Yes I hate to be late for anything..ask my grand daughter who ALWAYS waits til the last minute. LOL

@tamevv Hope you feel much better soon...being sick is just not fun.

@cbabie what did you do with your hair? Mine is getting unruly not too - need some inspiration.

@trooworld hope you’re feeling okay? I’m improving, thanks. The ramen looks delicious.

Afternoon, I ended up not doing anything I wanted to do. LOL It's usually the norm for me. I did get some "sauce" (deep mask for hair) at Sally's on Saturday and put it on. It feels a little better, but still looks like an old lady fuzzy hair. I haven't eaten well either. I jumped on the scale today and I am maintaining.

@trooworld I am sorry you are feeling well. Looks like you had a blast on (Sunday?) great pictures. One of the meds that they are trying to get me on, side effect is vertigo...I am not sure how I feel about any of it...LOL

@Tamevv I wish I had some inspiration for you for your hair. I am still looking for the perfect cut...you know the one where you get out of bed looking great! I used to have almost a crewcut type hair cut...loved the low maintenance, but I would have to get a hair cut every week and not happening LOL

Howdy. Long day today but good day, but I’m tired tonight.

@cbabie yep it’s usually at this stage I get over it and just cut it off in the shower. Trying to convince myself to let it grow a bit but it’s annoying. I had long hair till mid 20s and all I ever did was tie it back - definitely prefer short hair, but like you, only happy with it for a week till it grows out again!

@trooworld hope it was a good day at work.

Afternoon all, I actually got dressed, put make up on and it made me feel better. I have not worked outside of the home in almost 4 years and I think part of me has never let go and embraced the staying at home. LOL. But everyday I seek to find a better food to eat, put habits in place that will remain in place that are good and get rid of the ones that aren't.

@trooworld so glad the meds helped and you can get to work today. Everyday is made up of choices and you are making good ones.

@tamevv Sometimes tired is good...we know we did live life,..sometimes if for medical reasons not good. LOL. I am glad you had a good day and yea I know I like my hair longer...so I am just trying to be patient. (NOT ONE OF MY STRONG POINTS). LOL

Morning all, I went to Goodwill yesterday with baby girl and she said..what am I going to get today? Clothes, a new toy? I laughed and said someone has you trained. I don't go there much, but my middle daughter does. :). She came home with a new doll house for Chelse.. Then later last night she said I want to be an artist...she is very creative who knows. I was just asking myself how does she know what an artist is? Oh they grow so fast. I did a little better yesterday, but still no exercise and tracking..not sure what happened to me. I think I am just frustrated.

@trooworld LOL I laughed at "My husband made chocolate chip cookies and got Ben & Jerry's ice cream the other night. At least I didn't eat the whole pint lol". See how you found the positive? Good for you!!!
I am sorry you are still fighting the vertigo...I have never had it, but I have been so nauseated I wanted to die... Yes keep trying...that's how we win the battle and finally the war.

Afternoon, all I haven't exercised and ate out of emotions...oh well. At least I don't lie to myself. LOL

@trooworld I saw this today and I thought I could start saving all of her drawings.

Afternoon all, it's been a crazy morning, but I am here. LOL. I want to get on my treadmill today, but the room isn't available right now...and in the afternoon I don't have the energy. LOL. I do feel better today for sure..I am hoping it stays. I ate Pizza last night...I NEVER eat it, but we had so much left I didn't want to waste it..but I paid dearly... heartburn . :).

@trooworld , You are trying and that means something!!! Don't make too little of that. You know at times I wonder if we were told if you eat more that 25% fat, 50% protein 25% carbs you will die when you go over that percentage if we would do different. I have a friend whom I used to work with and her 3rd child had a rare disease ( they found out when he was 1 or so) and then when the 4th one was born they knew what test to do..and yes she was born with it. As far as I know the 4th one is still alive, but the 3rd child passed before puberty...the disease? I don't know the name, but they can only eat so much fat, they have to measure and read everything they eat. I don't wish that on anyone, but if we had that mindset. If we truly BELIEVED that everything we put in our body has a effect whether it be positive or negative...it does effect us. Like if I had know that the sun would damage my skin...I would not have laid out in it with baby oil...(well at least I think I would not have). but some lessons we only learn after the damage is done.

Sorry for the long post. I hope everyone has a good weekend and some of the missing ones show up. LOL

Hi… I’m new to the group. Trooworld, are you importing WW points into My Fitness Pal? Was looking at your screen shot and just curious. I’ll post more about me over the weekend. It’s time for sleep. Good night everyone.

    Morning:

There are a group of us that have been on the WW site for years and we are starting over here. We are hoping to keep our group and add to our group with more interaction here. Some of us do WW tracking, some do MFP, some just do on their own. The most important thing is accountability and encouragement. We strive to encourage, as we all have our own things we are working on to improve. However, it all comes down to HEALTH. We can't take back the years of abuse, but our bodies are amazing and heal themselves when given the opportunity. We will post on this THREAD every day, we will not start a new one. So bookmark this thread and come visit us everyday.

    Good Morning All,

I am a former WW Member and have decided to transfer over to MFP Premium. I am hoping to have some success on my journey to good health. I am 65 yr old and last year I lost over 20 lbs via WW but life threw my family some curveballs with my husband's health and as a result of the stress I just went off plan and ate whatever!!! What is shocking how FAST I gained weight back that I had lost and plus some more lbs but it took me what seemed forever to lose weight!!! I am new so I welcome you all and encouragement and support 🙏

Afternoon all, I am so late in getting on here, but hey I made it LOL. I took me and the little one to get a mani/pedi and we had fun. I so needed to splurge on me. I haven't exercised other than fighting a strong will baby who is very strong for being so young. LOL Figure it's good for my muscles.. LOL

@txsusango Welcome aboard. I hope you got some rest and are enjoying your Saturday!!! We are here to encourage each other!!

@trooworld Well I would say you meal sounded good and my little one calls garlic bread "children's bread". So see you had children's bread for dinner, so it had to be good for you. LOL. I hope you have a good relaxing weekend!!!

@thecat Welcome So glad you popped in. Glad to have you and yes the weight does come back quickly. It's like a bad penny as they say LOL. We are here to encourage each other, our little community is here to give support to each other in a big world that at best seems out of control some days. ( I like to be in control). LOL Since that's not possible, I try to control what I can for ME. LOL I even control when that oreo falls into my mouth...not just 1, but usually 2. :).

@thecat You had me at “it all comes down to health”!

I am 63 and followed WW on and off for many years and lost and gained the same 10 lbs over (and over) several years. It’s a decent program but after a few decades I’m done with points and prefer good old fashioned science based calorie counting (in MFP). And, I do believe all food choices are acceptable but maybe not all are beneficial for my own weight loss or healthy living. We have to find what works for us.

So, I am came over to MFP Premium last Oct. 2022 and am down 9 lbs. I have 5-7 to go to my ultimate goal. I prefer this app for many
reasons and this group seems to be very supportive and that’s what we all need!

I joined a gym nearby and am doing barre and
Zumba gold (lower paced dance) and ready to
    rock my July goals 😊

So I'm all settled into my dd's house. Ds stayed a couple of days and then he went back to his house. I skimmed the posts and I see lots of talk about vertigo and haircuts. I've made an appt with a lady here for next week. My highlights need to be redone. We just got home from watching The Little Mermaid. Second time I've seen it now. Although my daughter says I'm such a child cause I was singing along.

I am determined not to repeat the past two years when I come stay with her. So far so good. I'm still tracking every day. I've been sticking with my 100 gms of carbs M-F. I allow myself higher on the weekends. I've done a couple of walks and went to the gym once. Yesterday I drank 102 oz water. Can you imagine? Right now I'm at 87 oz. My body is probably so confused. But I will lose weight this month.

@thecat Good morning and welcome! It's so hard to lose the pounds but it sure does come back quick, doesn't it? The good news is that you KNOW you can lose the weight as you already proved you can. You just have to make the healthy decisions now. Again, welcome, I'm glad you joined us!

@cbabie Yay for making it! Oh that sounds like fun. Did baby girl enjoy it? That's cute about the children's bread. I wonder where she got that from? Thank you!

@Michieb125 Welcome to the group! Good to "see" you. I also was on WW for years and years and had very little success. Congrats on your success on MFP Premium! And great exercise efforts.

@theslightedgeforever I'm glad you got settled in okay. Yes, I had vertigo. It was terrible. I hope your highlights turn out okay with a new person, that would make me nervous lol. I would like to see The Little Mermaid. Yay for daily tracking! Sounds like you are doing well. Wow, 102 oz of water! Awesome.

Hi all. Welcome to the new people. I did WW for years and years and now I am using the Healthi premium/pro app, which is what the screenshots of my tracker are from. It counts "Bites" which are like WW points, but since I am a pro member, it also counts some of my macros. I like it a lot.

Yesterday was okay. We did not go to the Olive Garden, that was homemade food but I didn't feel like adding in the recipes so I just used those entries. We are having to put in great efforts with our dog training and it is upsetting the house lol. Major changes. Dogs in their crates while sleeping (they usually sleep with us), so we didn't get much sleep last night because they didn't like it.

    Water yesterday: 30 oz

Thanks for the very nice welcome. Quick hi before my DH and I head over to my adult son’s and DIL’s home today for a family BBQ. Not even sure of the menu but I can always moderate as they are also on a health journey right now so I expect good protein and fresh salads (not mayonnaise ridden sides). I made a gluten free cream cheese fruit tart piled high with strawberries and blueberries for the holiday. Will slice thin for 11 guests.

I use MFP for calories and macros although I don’t hit all of the macro goals each day - I am more focused on daily calories and averaging my target range over a week.
I look forward to learning from you all.

@michieb125 Welcome to the group. Your tart sounded delicious

@trooworld Go drink a glass of water.

Water was down from yesterday. I've stayed within my carbs. Sugar grams are over though. Exercise was an off day. Back to my walks and gym tomorrow.

Hi everyone - and new people! Yay and hello 👋

So I did exercise this morning! I’m still flu-ey in the head but am pleased I did the full half hour, then a small bit of strength after.

I did read back through - hard to remember what I was going to comment/respond to tho. I’m heading out in a bit but maybe later…

Oh the “children’s bread” - @cbabie here when we think children’s bread we think what we call “fairy bread” - its at every kids birthday party and never knew till recently it’s an Aussie thing - it’s plain white bread with butter and rainbow sprinkles. Everyone loves it - even adults secretly miss it and will eat at any excuse 😂

Morning all, I have found during the day I am good, but at night....well lets just say frosted sugar cookies gotta go. LOL Baby wore me out yesterday. He was so fussy. He is up now watch Christopher the Christmas tree...yes we have Christmas in July..LOL. Still no exercise, but I am not giving up. I guess strong arming a 10 month old is good for my biceps..LOL. He is so strong and has a temper when he sees something he wants but can't have. LOL

@trooworld baby girl loved feeling like a princess, I am trying to teach her we don't pick our fingers...she is a picker. I can't believe she will be starting school in 4 weeks. ( if i finish filling out the form). LOL You are tracking and that is a good habit I don't have yet...I have to do that, if I want success.

@michieb125 Yum your dish sounds YUMMY. I need to do some more fruit things. Welcome and we are so glad you joined us. Sounds like you got your rhythm going...you are building a lifetime of good habits.

@theslightedgeforever DH isn't with you to tease you into food you don't really want. LOL. Good for you for staying focused and enjoying DD. You are setting a good example for her to follow.

@Tamevv Good to see you and that you are getting your exercise in...maybe I should follow your example. LOL. That fairy bread sounds yummy...I don't know where she got the name. One day she asked for children's bread and I had to ask her what it was..LOL

Morning all, I hope to get into the habit of checking in here daily, or at least regularly.

I weighed in today and the scale was trekking downward which is always a welcome sign lol. Planning my foods for the next couple of days to find both success and satisfaction within my calorie range goal.

Ate breakfast a little late due to dropping off our truck for new tires today. Made my scrambled eggs with grated fresh Parmesan cheese, one of my go to’s. Later I will make a salad with feta, cucks, tomatoes and dark greens and chicken for
lunch. Then a broccoli, chicken and brown rice casserole for dinner. Burgers and corn on the cob tomorrow for the 4th!

Heading to my nearby gym for a short treadmill and light weights session. It’s too hot already for my daily walk. Do you agree that strength training is the way to increase lean body mass as we get older? Make it a great day!

@trooworld you are right, I would agree checking in is best for both accountability and support.

@cbabie I love Christmas in July! I went to a Christmas in July party at a friends house many years ago, so fun.

@theslightedgeforever you have an interesting and catchy name! I will check out the link.

Went to a parade this morning and somehow got my 3 miles in so far. DH and I will have a quiet afternoon and evening. After homemade burgers and coleslaw that is!
Tomorrow morning I have a mani/pedi appointment so that will be nice. Barre class scheduled for Thursday a.m.

I’m alone here today but it’s the day after a holiday midweek so I went back and read a few more posts to see who is posting here and some of you have been ‘together’ a long time, that’s so great.

Enjoyed our 4th of July BBQ yesterday and I abstained from wine and apple pie so I’ll take it as a big win. Gotta cut calories somewhere!
BUT did have (too many) potato chips and a big burger with all the fixings, so I am going for a lighter day today. Orgain protein shake for breakfast, and PBJ with fruit jam on thin Oroweat bread for lunch. It’s grilled Talapia and black bean salads for tonight’s’ meal and lots of water today. Will save some calories for apple slices and popcorn as my mid day and nighttime snack with the Ted Lasso show later.

@Tamevv Great job on your exercise. Fairy bread sounds so good.

@trooworld What's your plan for staying within your "bites" allowance tomorrow. Do you have a certain amount per meal that you have planned out or just track as you go and hope you don't go over at the end of the day?

@cbabie Can you get in 10 min of exercise to start out. Do it right when the baby is fed and changed so can wait for 10 min. Get that form filled out. Don't be like mom cause I had to skip KG cause no vacancies.

@Michieb125 Yaaay on the scale trekking downwards. That's what we want. Yes I agree on the strength training as we age. But helps our bones from deteriorating. my username comes from a book called "The Slight Edge" by Jeff Olson. It sounds like you did really well in balancing out your little holiday splurge. That is how we make it a lifestyle habit so we can keep the weight off once we lose everything we want to.

I did well this first week at my dd's house. I lost 3.6 lbs. dd and I had a BBQ I ate less then I usually would have but still managed to get over in carbs/calories. Today I'm back at it. I did my morning walk and then went to the gym for a short 30 min this evening. I've managed a bit more water than I did yesterday. I'm trying to focus on 3 blocks of time. 7a.m-12 12-5 5-10 Then just do the things I've planned for those blocks regarding food/movement/water. So far so good. I put the holiday cupcakes in the freezer to get them off the counter. Dd complained when she got home from work and saw them moved. She said I was going to eat one. Oh well, I've saved you calories and sugar grams. :) I'm trying to be the good role model.

@trooworld What are your other options to not go over in bites? If you keep going over, you won't lose weight. Maybe start a file and do 2-3 recipes a week. Eventually you will have the data you need to stay on track.

It's been a good exercise day. I did 1 hr 52 min worth. I'm over 14 carbs but under 220 calories. water? Meh.

@theslightedgeforever great job on seeing the loss on the scale! Cupcakes have also been requested by DH for the weekend. Not sure what I will do - buy one or two at a good bakery or bake, then toss lol. I do not want to have a dozen sitting on the counter.

@trooworld you mentioned a weight gain and how you are tired of that. I might look at my bite tracker and see where you can cut back or eliminate processed and/or high point meals for 2 weeks and see what happens! Those foods are usually the culprit for my own weight gain and are high in calories and are not always considered “nutritional.”

I personally believe whole and nutritional foods are needed to avoid diabetes, heart disease or cancer…..I am 60 years of age and have learned a lot this past decade!

A nurse friend once told me we should “eat to live” not “live to eat” and that really stuck with me. I like the Mediterranean way of eating 75% of the time. Although nothing is off limits for me however, I very rarely eat fast food or would not meet my weight loss goals. Yes, tonight is going to be a piece of papa Murphy’s pizza and a large green salad with the grandkids, but dinners this week have been low calorie grilled fish, chicken and one burger at home.
Do you all believe in balancing out your high/low calorie meals as well?

@trooworld Does Healthi have a section to enter snacks? So you know how much you are currently spending on snacks. So you can start reducing the points on those. Even by 1 or 2. Everything adds up. Other options could be smaller portions. For instance on the Buddha bowl you had for lunch, could you eat 1/2 or 3/4 of that and then eat other 0 point foods to make up the balance of the meal. I had to do that a couple of times this week with some macaroni bechamel that I made. Once it was a 1/2 portion and then once 3/4 portion. I added some salad instead and it satisfied me and I wasn't hungry. While I wanted to eat a whole portion, I want to be thin and healthy even more. This is how I've been planning my meals everyday this week. I put in everything I want to eat that day. Putting in a yummy snack for me on some days. Then I look at my total and if I've gone over my carb count, I see how many over. Then I start reducing portion sizes to get it to down where I want. Sometimes I'm still over 10 or so but I think I can still lose weight with that.

@michieb125 I vote you get one or two at a good bakery. I agree with you on the whole foods/disease thing. I'll be 60 in February. Yummy Papa Murphy's. Yes on the high/low balance. I want to lose weight the way I'm going to maintain so nothing is off limits for me. Just either smaller portions or less often.

Today was gym day. 57 min. Cardio/strength training/stretching
Food: Under 12 carbs Over 100 calories
    Water 5 bottles.

So excited: no exercise planned on the weekend. I'm tired.

Morning all, I am here, just morning routines are not my own anymore. I am trying to put me first and I am trying to put my boundaries on. It is a necessary for my health. I did get on my treadmill yesterday and only walked 6 min..ugh. I also mopped floors, moved furniture and took care of a very active 10 month old. I have to start looking at non traditional body moving. I made this breakfast burrito, didn't put it in the tracker. I couldn't eat it..too spicy, but everyone else loved it.

I read the post, but probably won't remember all to comment on. SO I will just start afresh.

    Good afternoon all -

@theslightedgeforever we’re close in age and the whole health thing is super important to me now. I also like your suggestions around portion control while still eating and enjoying what you want. I pretty much do the same thing. I don’t deprive myself but I am usually able to stop at the calorie or carb limits each day, or if over slightly, then average out my goals for the rest of the week. As you mentioned earlier, new lifestyle habits are what we want to maintain. I am so there for now! Good job on the exercise and reminders to us for more water!

@trooworld your honesty about food is appreciated and insightful. I believe small changes over a long time will turn into better habits for us. In other words consistency with good choices. Of course we need treats but I now read labels and will not eat processed products made with corn syrup or sodium that’s sky high. Once I researched these it became easier! I would rather bake something with organic ingredients or make a stir fry myself. I really like your meal plans! The one thing I might personally tweak is perhaps cutting the potato salad portion in half or two-thirds and add in fresh green beans for nutrients and they are also filling but zero pts. You could save 250-350 calories if you want.

@cbarbie you were moving with cleaning and staying active with the little one! At least you know you need to make time for yourself first so you can take care of those around you. Never easy especially for women of all ages.

I’ve always been fairly active and healthy compared to some others at my age. But…..always about 15-20 lbs. over a good BMI or the CDC suggested guidelines for weight/height. This year I am committed to get closer to my goal weight by my birthday day in October followed by my annual physical. Need to give my doctors a reason to smile lol.
