There will be wine. But at 14.99 a pop, there won’t be much!

A = 13
AF = 11
Been off-track this week, and the scale is really showing it. My goal is to end this month with more AF over A days... or at least 50/50.5 -
I'm way behind on this thread! With summer, everyone is doing so much!
Thought I'd quick post a pick from this weekend of my wife and me backpacking.
She's down 120 lbs from 2 years ago. I'm down 25 lbs from 3 months ago.
She's 51 years old. I'm 55.

I am Dawn, I live in South Eastern British Columbia.
I joined this thread in November of 2018, a daily drinker at the time
My primary goal with drinking less is weight loss.
My usual goal is 16-20 AF days for the month,
I had 18AF days in May.
I do this diary style, I normally post the next morning.
Saturday June 24 - 2 drinks pretty much immediately after work. Sunday off, I have lots to do in the yard, plus need to tidy/clean before my house appraisal on Tuesday right after I finish work. Planning af until Tuesday evening.
Sunday June 25 - Drinks. Not planned, but no regrets. Got lots done in the yard, took a break from the sun when the sweat was dripping into my eyes and had a blended Gin cocktail. Another drink several hours later. Geez, the month is coming to an end, I had better get at least 3 more AF days!
Rolling total: 13AF day out of 25 days.4 -
Since retiring from a Corporate position a few years ago, one of my favorite days of the week is now Sunday. It’s my day to recenter from the past week and pause for both spiritual fulfillment and fun before a new week begins. My DH and I went to church, out to lunch, and took a long walk in the rolling hills together. I feel so fortunate we found each other over 20 years ago. In addition, he stopped all drinking eight years ago by his own personal choice and I really respect him for that.
AF until Thursday or Friday and will make my June goal of 20/30 AF days.
June goal: 20-22 AF days
2 glass limit

AF - 16

Awesome pix of you people improving your lives - whether weight loss or gardening what matters is we're actively engaged with self improvement and enhancing our happiness every day.
I so feel for you @MissMay and experienced so much grief over my old house since I had to go back to see what the new owners did to it, and it wasn't pretty. They painted it the color of poop and the yard is a mess. I can't go back now. I have to look forward and create new beginnings.
I am doing better overall, getting more self-control and I have upped my running. Now at 10 miles a week plus 7-8 miles walking and a couple of weight workouts. But today I had 2 mini-Korbel champagnes. I guess I bought them because I just felt like I needed a mood lift at dinner-time. I probably need a happier life.8 -
Accountability check in-
Yikes sorry I have no idea why I wrote the number I did for AF the other day(24).. So I will update.
Alcohol drinks 6 days
No Alcohol 20 days
Gary such a beautiful picture of you and you wife. Congrats to you both on the weight loss. She lost an entire person in her journey. Happy hiking!
@globalhiker your ponder about why you bought the minis I can resonate with. All the advertising as to alcohol making our lives better in everyway does not help. Nice to hear your running again.
@dawnbgethealthy did I miss a post of yours? Are you selling your house( in reference to the appraisal)? If so please go buy my old house the gardens would LOVE YOU!
4th of July next week, WOW can't believe it. The past few weeks have been tragic around my area. To many people on vacation thinking they dont need to abide the red flags on our beaches( taken out by rip tides and drowned) or they are driving like maniacs on the already dangerous streets.
I am looking forward to the day off (July 4th)with my husband, this area is extremely military with all the bases. The Blue Angels are less than 2 miles from my house. They fly over more often than hummingbirds. I feel very proud to be a part of the community.
Have a great Tuesday group!7 -
@globalhiker
I am really happy that you are back to running all of the time. Pure freedom?
You say that you probably need a happier life, I believe that you are working on that, and writing it down will keep that in the forefront of your mind. Choose happiness?
We are LA here, a piccolo of champagne is a nice thing to have once in awhile I think.
In fact, I may put one in the fridge (I buy them in 3-packs) for after my home appraisal today.
@MissMay
I am doing a re-fi to consolidate mountains of debt and start fresh, hence the last step, the home appraisal.
I just had to pay my property taxes yesterday, ouch.
As much as I love love love the autonomy of living on my own, home ownership and upkeep is very expensive. I will see where I am at in August and may consider taking in a tenant although I really don't want to. I will have 3 jobs during that time, but scale back to 2 jobs 6 days a week from September on. I think/hope that without having to pay exorbitant interest anymore that I can do it without having somebody else living in my space. We'll see.
Haha, I would wreck your old gardens with my junky way of gardening, and I would be apoplectic with the deer eating all of the hard work.
@Michieb125
I adore what you have in your backyard. So beautiful!
I love what you say about your Sundays. Saturdays are normally my day to do that even though I have went to work for quite of few of them recently. I get both Saturday and Sunday off coming up for the first time in awhile, I am going to keep in mind what you say about using that to re-centre.
@itladyee
How fun to go to a baseball game!!!2 -

Monday June 26 - AF - I just keep cleaning and cleaning before my home appraisal. I have to just stop now and say that is enough. Foregoing getting the toothbrushes out for the baseboards lol, I have run out of time. Planned drinks for tonight after work and the appraisal. Planned AF Wednesday and Thursday. Right down to the wire for my 16 this month, but I will get there.
Rolling total: 14AF day out of 26 days.4 -
Went on a short trip with the family- enjoyed some cocktails and wine but didn't go crazy (it helps when they are so expensive lol)7

Hello everyone,
Again I was/am playing catch up but wanted to let you know I did read all the posts
Love the garden pictures! So sad about your ole homestead @MissMay
We are in the middle of our interior home being painted. Well most areas, I opted out of the hall closet and laundry room LOL. It is looking brighter already. Tomorrow they deliver a riding mower and the plumber will be here to install a gas line for the kitchen. Yeah then I can buy my gas stove and new appliances.
We bought the house with the appliances they had but we found they are lower end and not in the best of shape. Cosmetic wise look good, performance...not so much. So we might as well get what we want now while we are still in this spending mood.
Alcohol wise doing 'fair' more A days then non right now but again I am no where close to what I was consuming 2 years or even 1 year ago. I feel like once we start to get more into a routine I will be able to walk away easier??? fingers and will power crossed.
hope to check in again before the new month5 -
Since retiring, I became an avid walker and hiker, and weaved in Pilates and yoga home videos now and then. I’m excited I joined a well established gym yesterday in which I have been eyeing for while. It is close by, has a robust class schedule with yoga, Pilates, and barre in addition to all the standard equipment and aqua fit. Looking forward to popping in and out a couple of times a week to continue my body recomposition. This year has been about leaning out with weight loss, becoming stronger and reducing health risks as I get older.
Sending encouragement to those who need it. We can find our way with LA because we have this fantastic group (thanks to @MissMay).

I want to introduce myself. I went two years sober, started CrossFit, lost 14 pounds, and felt the strongest I’ve felt in my life. I started drinking again in November 2022, slowly at first, now daily, as I was before. I believe I have Alcohol Use Disorder and have struggled to meet people that can relate to my drinking patterns. I’ve regained all my weight because alcohol makes me feel despondent and apathetic about health and food. I now want to regain control over my alcohol use and health, but it’s difficult. If anyone is in the Tucson area, I would love a buddy! Thanks for the support,9

Welcome @annjuodakis6276, it's perfect how you are so open and honest about yourself. What you write here matters because the next day you may read it again and this will help direct your mind. At least, this is how this forum helped me. This is a place for self-improvement and you will find many buddies.
@dawnbgethealthy I likely missed this, but are you planning to move, and if so, where? Sending my good wishes and hugs for you. Life change is good.
This aside, every 5 years or so, life likes to throw a hard curveball at me and I am there now. My life is not great by any means and I want to spare you the details. I wish to focus on making each day better - less or no alcohol, staying away from toxic people, and really focusing on re-directing my energies to what makes me happy which is lifting myself up (I learned I need to actively do this myself) and then being able to lift others.

Welcome @annjuodakis6276!! I hear ya, I used to be so much better about racking up AF days. It’s very easy to go from having one occasionally to having a drink daily- whether it’s out of habit or a need to escape something. I think you’ll find a lot of support with this gang.
@globalhiker big hug to you, whatever is going on in your life!
I poured myself a glass of wine at dinner, and really really wanted another, but I
resisted. My weight would come down faster if I just cut out the alcohol, and yet, that wine is so tasty! Ugh.5 -
@globalhiker
No, not moving, just trying to do a re-fi.
It sounds like you are really going through something right now.
Big hugs!!!2 -

Tuesday June 27 - Drinks, as planned. Now to re-clutter my house up so that I can find stuff : - ) Taking the day off to regroup before that no longer is an option once I soon start another new job.

I love at-home yoga too. My go-to is Adrienne but I like Kassandra too. Which ones do you like best?3 -
@annjuodakis6276 WELCOME to our LESS Alcohol group.
The evil circle pattern of alcohol is what you described. It gives us the illusion that after we work so hard to meet our fitness and health goals, it says "hey one little drink won't hurt".
We have all been here, and to tell the truth the devil still sits on my shoulders poking me with his pointed spear telling me to have another(for him)👹
We have a great intro on page one with tips on how to help though this journey. But the best way is to get in here and communicate.3
