@deepwoodslady Fingers crossed for you, I’m sure it will be good new but that scanxiety always creeps in doesn’t it?

    Hi

I’m Melanie getting on track haven’t logged food in a loooong time and managed my weight pretty easily. Out of whack hormones plus a new berry stressful job has me 20 lbs higher than what feels good for me.

The hormonal stuff is making it tough but without really trying to build awareness of what I’m eating I can’t continue to blame that.

    So here I am:
    August 21: 192.6
    Ultimate Goal: 175

    August goal: 189

Welcome! Tracking is the most effective way to lose weight in my experience. 😊

@deepwoodslady Can you take 2-3 hours per week and do meal prep? Chopping things for sheet pan dinners, cooking a bunch of a protein (meat) and pair it with frozen veggies? I know it takes time but it’s so convenient later on in the week when you are hungry and in a rush. Just a suggestion

@ddainiak I would scoot that scale right out of sight if I were you but please do what makes your vacation the best. Enjoy! That’s a gorgeous view!

Meal prep is always a smart time-saving move. But, I can't help but worry about the safety of storing these foods for an extended period in our regular freezers. Wouldn't that risk spoiling the food or compromising its quality? What are your thoughts on this, and have you ever considered options like commercial freezers to maintain the freshness of prepped meals over time?

Happy Wedding Anniversary to me! 36 Years ago, married my best friend. Having a wonderful time in VT, will pay for it later, but life is good.

@deepwoodslady Thinking of you. Hope all goes well.

@littlelily76 Welcome to this wonderful group. I agree with @buckeyebabe7L7 Tracking is key - every day -regardless of how "on plan" you are. A lesson I finally learned - it only took me 30+ years!

I started with this group in July. I am Mary, 69 years old, 5’5”, CW 170 lbs, HW 185, GW 150, or maybe UGW 140. I want to lose weight to bring my blood pressure down and to improve my cardiovascular health. I saw the notes from the orthopedic doctor on my medical record which said my BMI is a contributing factor to my mobility pain. I also feel all the usual feelings about my appearance at a higher weight not being as attractive, wanting to feel more energy, move more gracefully.
Late August and my weight loss is super slow to the point of non-existent! I look at August 4: 170.6 and today: 170.2. I log my food diary and exercise to MFP daily. Eating 4-5 servings of vegetables and fruits, and drinking more fluids. It’s good to have the log and that’s a way to note what is going on (not much). Inspiration comes more from seeing others’ progress over time. I do see I lost a bit when I had several days’ higher step count. New goal: 10K / day.

Working in the yard every day rewilding from lawn to meadow, pretty sure neighbors see only chaos but I have a picture in my head of what can be. Sort of like my weight loss program.

    August 4: 170.6 Steps: 1,467
    August 5: 170.2 Steps: 10,302
    August 6: 170.0 Steps: 10,412

08/22-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)- I’m hitting the road very early this morning. Hopefully good news today at the cancer center.

08/23-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)- I will weigh in tomorrow. I just needed this one buffer day at home to stick to plan and mitigate the damage from all the travel and festivities. I received confusing news at the cancer appts yesterday. They have found calcifications in my left breast (the cancer free one). While some calcifications can be normal in women, it is a concern due to my cancer history. They are not recommending a biopsy just yet which is good news. But they do want another mammogram in 6 months instead of a year to follow any changes or growth. So now, 6 months of worry. I should have just had them both lopped off with the original cancer but I had 3 kids still in school at the time and my hubby was very sick with constant travel for dialysis. Honestly there was no time for me as it would have required so much travel and processes. And I likely still would have needed the chemo anyway. I’m thinking about seeing a breast surgeon now and just get it over with. This is draining. Anyway, today is National Prayer Day so maybe you guys can say one for me.

Hi! I’m a grandma of 8 from Canada. I live near my kids and help out babysitting a fair bit. I was never overweight when I was young, but have probably been obese off an on for the past 20 years. Something changed in my mental outlook about 6 months ago when my doctor told me I was now diabetic. She had previously warned me, but I just didn’t pay attention. I listened this time and am taking it seriously. I’m determined to get healthy.
My goal is to be able to stop taking several prescribed drugs, and lower blood sugar levels. I believe it will take me over a year to do this, but I’m going to do it. I was always healthy before I got fat. I have over 100 lbs. to lose. I’ve already lost close to 37 lbs. in the last 6 months, decreased my bp medication, and my blood sugar level has decreased significantly.
I’ve made lifestyle changes, and I’m counting calories most days. I’ve started swimming more, and I’m doing very gentle aerobics.
Recently, I even travelled for the first time in years.

    Starting weight: 230
    Goal weight: 130 (maybe less)
    Height: 5’2”

    Monthly Weight Loss:
    March-10 lbs.
    April- 8 lbs.
    May- 5 lbs.
June- 4.4 lbs. (trip to Europe)
    July- 5.6
    August-
    September-
    October-
    November-
    December-

Aug. 16- 193.8 lbs. starting this challenge 1/2 way through. I’d love to get into the 180’s by the end of this month. Don’t know what to expect. DH has a knee replacement surgery in a week. I’m his caregiver.
Aug. 17-193.8 swam for an hour. Haven’t been swimming as the pool has been closed for 2weeks. We had a horrific incident and a man drowned. I feel a bit strange because of it. It’s terribly sad.
    Aug. 18-DW gentle aerobics class
Aug. 19-194.4 ate some junk food last night, lots of salt, swam for 55 min.
Aug. 20-192.4 woo hoo ! I hope it stays. This is a huge loss for me.
Aug. 21-192.6. Still happy, aerobics, DH has surgery tomorrow, his knee replaced.
Aug. 22- DW surgery went well!
Aug. 23- 193 up we go! One of those things😳 DH is 🏡
    Aug. 24-
    Aug. 25-
    Aug. 26-
    Aug. 27-
    Aug. 28-
    Aug. 29-

Donna, so sorry you have to go through so much worry. Sending good vibes your way.

So I have an unusual thing that happens periodically. I vomit, but not often , in fact very infrequently . I’m not sick though. It has happened since I started looking after my health more, eating much better, adding in exercise to my life. I love the exercising I have way more energy than 6 months ago. The exercise is not the slightest bit strenuous. It’s almost embarrassingly easy for most people, but still challenges me. The odd time after a swim or in the middle of my aerobics class (which is mostly stretching, isometrics)when I don’t expect it, I vomit. I’m taking ozempic for diabetes. Maybe it has something to do with it. Exercise seems to trigger it. I always feel completely fine afterwards.
However, I don’t really think ozempic affects me much in the way of side effects. I’m staying on a lower dose as long as it helps my blood sugar, but hope to get off it completely as soon as the doctor says I can. Maybe it helps curb my hunger, but I’ve been trying to change my lifestyle so I can continue to lose after I stop taking it. I still have ‘starving’ times, but am learning to deal with them.
If anyone else vomits after exercise I’d like to know their experience. Gross, eh? Lol. Sometimes, I think it’s the diabetes, but I don’t know.
I see a lot of different doctors right now. No one has an answer for me. It’s a minor issue in their eyes.

I Forgot to mention that I don’t eat before I exercise or swim so my stomach is usually empty. Food is not the issue.

@Melwillbehealthy The only time I really get nauseated is when I eat something with too much fat, or my fat macro is way up for the day. In your case, however, since it is after or during exercise, I would definitely make a dr appointment to discuss. Hopefully nothing is kinked in the bowel system that pushes things back up when you do anything strenuous with your body/midsection. Perhaps an X-Ray or CT scan is in order? Sending good vibes to you that you will safely and quickly get some resolution/answers.
