πππIβm a 5β2β, soon to be eligible for Medicare girl from the Pacific Northwest. Took a βbreakβ from weighing and logging over the last few monthsβ¦ always a mistake! Gained back 6 or 7 pounds. Time to get back on track, one jug of water at a time! One pound a week seems like a good goal for October!πππ

@Txtiffani - I'm 5' 1/2" I get a chuckle from people when I include the 1/2". I know exactly what you mean at our height it's difficult to conceal those extra pounds. Our goals are within reach. Let's make it happen!
@deepwoodslady - These cooler temps give me an urge to bake too. I'm searching for new recipes without white flour and added sugars or with foods I can substitute. Maybe I will try to fool my senses with some scented candles.

October 8: 167 lbs. My 1 pound per week weight loss remains consistent. I guess, any loss is a good loss. However, at 1 pound a week, I'm not going to reach my October goal. I'm going to look over my routine and determine if there is anything I can do differently to increase my weight loss or if I need to accept that my body only wants to loss a pound at a time.

I delayed my weigh in by a day because yesterday was Canadian Thanksgiving and I wanted to enjoy but be mindful of portions. So I used this as incentive. Still enjoyed some pie!

My budget kick combined with my rededication to weight loss. Cheap snacks aren't worth it.
I got a cookbook from the 80s called "Quick, Thrifty Cooking" over the weekend and I'm excited to try it out.

Hello! I found I have been gaining weight because of emotional eating- I lost my mom to cancer in June. Its not honoring her to sit on my duff and shovel ice cream, though.
I lost 40 lbs once before but I got pretty irritable with my family and would appreciate any tips on how to stay cool and be successful.

Hi, my condolences on the loss of your mom (and I'm sure her illness was difficult for you, too). You're right, making yourself miserable is not a good way to honor her. It's good that you're realizing this now, and deciding to do something about it, rather than setting yourself back further.
Since you're asking for suggestions, I'm going to recommend two things that have helped me tremendously:
* Read Allen Carr's Easy Way to Quit Emotional Eating: Set yourself free from binge-eating and comfort-eating... long title, I know, but it's a fairly quick (and pleasant) read and it has completely changed my life.
* Check out the Ultimate Accountability Challenge group here on MFP. The group is now private for the rest of the month, but you can still join -- it's all explained in the intro. The group's focus is on building healthy habits, rather than specifically about weight loss (though many of us are working on losing weight). I find it a very friendly and supportive group and hopefully you will feel at home there too.9 -

October 3:133.5(+0.8lbs) I ate a bit too much. For the first two days of October. Retaining a bit of extra food & water.
The T.O.M cravings be a whole other level : 0! However they are subsiding and I am ready to get back to deficit action.
October 4: 133.9(+0.4lbs) Understandable this week, with my cycle and over eating quite a bit. Which lead to waste and water
retention. That should be down in one week.Once I stick to my small calorie deficit.(Happy fall season everyone)
October10: 132.2lbs(-1.7lbs)
October 11:132.2lbs(-0.0lbs) Same weight two days in a row. It's lower than my lowest weight.Which was 132.5lbs from Septemeber challenge.Going to work a bit more. To tighten up a bit with food, I mean snacks. Aim to lose 0.5 lbs per week but weekly it's been -0.3lbs instead(Slowly) : D.
-0.3lbs is totally better than nothing. I'd like a little speed boost. To hit my actual target of 0.5lbs per week & 2.0 pounds per month.

Hope its ok to just jump in mid way!
I am Pam I have used MFP before and decided to jump back in. Joined the gym yesterday not to get back on track. Recently injured my knee and I can really feel these pounds on it for sure. I am 58 years old and work a busy job that is made up of 24hr shifts. One of my biggest challenges is structured eating plans since I am often awake at all hours of the day and night. It is motivating to watch everyone else smashing their goals

You know what, it might very well be good. I noticed that whenever I increase my exercise level, the weight loss pauses (and sometimes I gain a bit of weight). I learned that this is a normal thing: Iβm losing fat but also gaining muscle, which is heavier (per volume unit). Additionally, when muscles have to work harder than what theyβre used to, they store extra water to help them recover. Once Iβve adapted to the new exercise levels, the water leaves and the weight loss kicks into overdrive for a while. So unless youβve been eating more than before, chances are your βweight gainβ is a temporary response to all the walking youβve been doing. Check if your pants fit more loosely!9 -
