Sounds like this ended up being a great challenge for a lot of us, even if we didn't actually achieve low carb. I know it really made me stop and look at what I was eating and that is always important. As someone who has gained and lost a lot over the years I know its really easy to slip back into old habits of eating more processed and convenience foods when life starts getting hectic, which is of course pretty much inevitable
I really had to laugh yesterday, though. I had lunch with my mom at a local bakery and while we were sitting there they put all of their bread that was left for the day out for anyone to take for free. This is bread that would have cost $5-7 a loaf at the farmers market 2 hours earlier so of course I ended up leaving with two loaves, but man it just felt like the world was against me going low carb! But don't worry, I'm not going crazy, I put most of it in the freezer.
So I'm hoping I don't ruin tomorrow's weigh in because I really did think it was going to be good this week, but now I'm having some wine to celebrate that I got a raise at work today!! Yay!! I've gotta say it was a long time coming and I think this wine is well deserved so worst case I'll use today's weight I'm also going to call this a little NSV because a lot of what this is about is gaining confidence in ourselves to know we can do things we don't think we can do and we deserve them too. I walked into my boss' office today and actually asked for a raise, I've never done that before and I was terrified to do it but it all worked out. Self-esteem definately going up a bit today.....0 -

Congrats!!!! I know work has been a major stressor for you. Nothing like a raise to make it easier. You TOTALLY deserved it!0 -

Todays weigh in 197 (3 lb loss). I am so excited under 200!!!!!!!
The carbs part of the challene was rough. I think I was under 100 a couple days but most was way over. It was a learning experience, it made me more aware of the amount of carbs in some of my favorite foods.
I did pretty good with more moving I took walks and worked on my wii fit on days with no zumba class.
All in all a good week. Bring on this weeks challenge!0 -

I tried to go low-carb this week and it was really hard! I did stay under 150 every day though. Before that I was eating over 200. This challenge has helped me become more aware of my carbs.
My exercise was really good this week. I did 7 days of at least 30 minutes cardio and lots of strength training too. I just got a HRM and I guess it made me want to work out more. Lol. It is great motivation for me!
Good luck everyone!

Hi Opal. What is an HRM?0
-
Hi Opal. What is an HRM?
A heart rate monitor. It tells you when you are exercising in your target heart rate. Now I know how many calories I'm really burning!0 -
Oh that's a great idea! Sometimes I feel like I'm not 'pushing' myself, you know? That would be a handy tool to have around to make sure I'm working at a good rate..0

NSV: decrease inches and increase muscle tone. Finally too my measurements, posted them earlier in the week. Now I need to push the strength training, I've been doing a bit more, but still not enough.0 -
Sorry I haven't been around much this past week. I just started a new rotation and it's crazy busy. It's stressing me out a lot too, unfortunately. However, the hospital where I'm working is HUGE, and I bet I'm walking several miles every day just going from one part of a the hospital to another. I guess it's been good for weight loss!

Went WAY over on carbs each day. I really liked that challenge, so I think I'm gonna try to lower my carbs by 50 each week until I hit that "effortless weight loss" zone. Effortless sounds AWESOME.
Today's my last "free day." I start my new, full-time job tomorrow! I'll be able to keep up on the postings, but I'll only be able to update the spreadsheet at nights. I'm kind of worried to see how this new schedule will change my life. I know I won't be able to work out as long as I have been, but as we've said before, losing weight is 80% eating and 20% exercise. As long as I can keep my calories (and carbs!) in check, the pounds should melt away!0 -

-.6 honestly I fell off the wagon this week completely so the fact that there is any loss on the scale is amazing. now if I can get BELOW the 143's we'll be in business since I've been hovering between 143-149 for oh I don't know.. 4 months now?
the Dentist will break into my gym time today, but I'm going to try and squeeze in the 6W6P when i get home.0 -

Weighing in this week at 156.0. I am glad it's a loss but I need to re-focus if I am going to meet my goal weight. I tried watching my carbs but I like them so much. I had previously cut back on them before joining MFP.
Congrats! to all those who lost this week!!!0 -

Hi all,
Great losses this week, and also great hanging in there for others. I usually try to eat low carbs are 100s to 140s so I stayed in that range this week. I might try to push to 100 slowly but I have to plan my meals to see how to do that. Since I'm running outdoors everyday, I find that I need my carbs.
I'm a bit sleepy because I'm up at 4:00am to do my 2 hour workouts at 5:00am and then off to work from 9-5pm. I'm just a very busy gal, and also do business research on my free time, so I only get as "down time" the 2 hours when I get home. I usually watch 2 hours of t.v., and I dvr my favorite shows. I just feel like I need some down time after such a busy day.
I did my p90x this morning as well as running. My running is definitely improving and I can now run 35 minutes without stopping. It's my best timing ever, and I'm just running for fun, because I love the adrenaline rush that comes afterwards.
I'm trying to lose this weight because I want to have more babies, but I want to start at a low weight so that it's more manageable. So...that's my motivation, to be a mom again, and that keeps me focused.
have an awesome day, all!0
