So…that memorial video is just a preview!
Older brother says final version will be about 10 minutes long.
Then Part 2, also about 10 minutes long, will be done next month.
I wouldn’t even know how to start on such a project!

M – see, I don’t have a problem telling people here that I’m going to FL. But I’d never do it on Facebook. I see your point, tho. I figure people from Ohio, California, Washington, and all over aren’t about to make a trip to NC just to rob me (and if they did, not like they’d get much). Now you never know who even lives near you is on Facebook. So glad there weren’t any problems.
Michele NC
We didn't tell very many people at all and didn't announce it anywhere on FB or forums.
It was something just for us, not for general public knowledge. There are lots of things in my life like that, and I'm sure many people's lives. Things we want to keep as precious to us at the time ... but later we can talk about them.
And MyFitnessPal is a lot more public than Facebook. Anyone in the world can google what we type here.

Heather - I hope you have a lovely time despite the terrible weather.
Annie - Happy Birthday to your mom, I hope you were able to get some answers regarding your Dad yesterday.
You “sound” more relaxed today.
Allie - nice looking car. I have never named my vehicles or anything not living I don’t think.
Kylia - I would be disappointed if my girls were doing that as well. I know my girls live one another, but they are so different, not a lot in common. My eldest is becoming a bit of a recluse and I’m quite worried about her. Mental health issues are a terrible thing.
Beth - I bet you could do mod-podge with no issues. There are YouTube videos, you just sided a house you can do this too.
I have never tried doing that to sell pieces. I hate bothering my friends to buy things. I do have a FB page for our items though. I should post on there.
Debbie - I just can’t get over how rude your son and husband are to you. I can’t imagine making a Thanksgiving dinner and them not eating with me. I have my DH old particular when he didn’t stay to eat dessert one time.
Rebecca - those Grands of yours are just adorable.
Barbie - Annie is just sweet.
I started a stocking this evening while watching the CMA’s and this afternoon I painted my little houses.
I think tomorrow I’ll paint for a little bit but not overly long since I have ceramics tomorrow night.
DH did not go to work tonight. He had an incident last night. One of the things that stops you from going too far in a parking spot was upset. He knew it was supposed to be there and thankfully had slowed down. They have to drive over them in the equipment they run for maintenance. He was able to go further and since they work in the dark he assumed that it had been moved. He started to press on the gas and it hooked up underneath and the machine came to a complete and sudden stop. He said he thought for a minute he was paralyzed from the snap of his neck because his arms started tingling and then hurting. He said he was still sore but would be ok. He refused to report it, no matter how many times I tried to convince him. The machine is fine, I am concerned about him. The problem is they have made mistakes become this big deal where they have to have a meeting with three managers, and reports galore. I can understand why he doesn’t want to.
When I was a safety manager I always said that we should have the wives call in incidents instead of depending on the worker.

Well I got 8 hrs in and awake at 1 am..but still tired and will go back to sleep..was just checking in.
Someone else is snoozing too😴6 -
Tracey - I'm sorry your DH won't report the workplace incident. He could have health consequences down the line, and reporting it would give him protection and compensation. Men!!!!
I had a reasonably good night. Awake reading for an hour, but woke up at my usual time. I've just had a mug of tea.
Expecting rain, so I'm not sure what I will do. The others want to go up the Spinnaker Tower, but I've done that and it's expensive. If the weather was better, a stroll around the old town would be nice, but I'm not sure. Do I have the courage to make a bolt for it? I've got to leave my bag at the hotel if we stroll.

Rebecca, mold? Yikes! Is the chief using that an excuse to avoid cooking/washing up? Great coconut oil suggestions. Need to dust off that jar in the bathroom
Rita thanks your bucket garden. Just deadheaded our mums, love your pinks. Think I got a dozen tiny cherry tomatoes this year, snow peas did ok and there was an overabundance of red romaine ;} Three volunteer potatoes are trying to come up, don’t they know it’s winter??? “Bittersweet chocolate with almonds day” that would be every day here so I’m with you about giving in to my sweets addiction
Tracey thanks and likewise. Not sure, but likely it was the weather that knocked our internet out. Better internet than electricity… ;} Love the villiage, are those gift/goodie bags? Perfect for a cookie exchange! A snap that severe sure sounds like whiplash. Praying Rodger has no after effects from the incident. Men can be so stubborn wanting to avoid the appearance of vulnerability, risking serious long term consequences. Hope he’ll see the light today.
Heather “. . .we have to keep going, or we lose it completely.” Truth this! Sounds like you made the best compromise possible for the reunion. Safe travels! Had to google affogato, sounds delicious. Thanks a lot!
Barbie “the pedometer counts backwards. Dog walking is a different kind of workout. 🐾😀” Aha, I knew something was up… down. “…holiday activities is that they should be a source of happiness or else not do them.” Yes this. Alas, I’ve figured out I do the baking and candy making for ME!!! Annie on her bed… with squirrel
Vicki belated happy anniversary!
Carol, I try not to clap at line dance, as I’m always off. . . ;} How sad for your husband’s brother. Praying for him and you both.
Annie ((hugs)) just ((hugs)) Hope your dad’s Dr. appointment was helpful. Belated happy birthday to your mom.
Terri Jack is 19? Amazingly well done! Glad the filling was “relatively” painless and you’re clear of DDS appointments for six months. Sounds like heaven to me…
Kylia walkaday is that an iphone app? ((hugs)) held extra long. You WILL calm yourself and you are right to be proud of your independent successful daughters. Sometimes it’s hard to accept the boundaries of those we love.
Lanette yours to Annie about the house assessment and her dad. Your Sophie is on the same wakeup schedule as Joe. ;}
Joy freezing fog is scary. Safe travels!
Lisa DIY sunroom is so impressive. Well done you both! Loved yours to Kylia.
Michele fingers X’d for favorable blood test results.
Allie cortisone shots in both hips? Yow!!! For some reason all my blue vehicles, from my first bicycle, have been “Roxanne”. IDK.
Sue sorry to hear of the walking test but glad you’ve got a specialist who took the time to do all the tests. Fingers X’d for a favorable CT scan.
Debbie wow what a score! I wouldn’t pay that for a clock either :noway: And the video? Had to turn it off after just a few seconds, my eyes started rolling around in opposite directions  What are embossing boards?
Kim your bean soup sounds lovely, warming, filling and healthy. Have the family you cook for disliked any of your other offerings?
Machka your trip. Well done on the planning, choices, and adjustments as needed on the fly. ((hugs)) Looks like you both had fun at the miniature golf
Beth your “no one ever believed me that it was vinegar and soda that worked as the rising agents” in the depression era / wacky cake, reminded me of my favorite chocolate cake. No one ever believed it contained a cup of Best Foods mayonnaise

Barbara I am not sure. I have a dried. It has issues syncing with fitbit, but fitbit still gets the exercise, so that is okay for now.
Woke up with a headache (dehydration and cold front) . I tend to not drink a lot while traveling. Too many stops then. Need to rethink that. Also synced Fitbit this morning with phone. Will need to keep eye on ❤️ for a few days. For the last 138 minutes of drive it was pushing 180! I didn't feel it. Was it stress ( night driving in traffic and construction), dehydration, or NSVT. concentration on water today. I did sleep in until 6, so got 6.75 hrs sleep.
Love the pictures!
Time to walk.

I mentioned "Variety" in my Highlights List ...
Stores: There may be roughly the same number of stores, but there was different stuff!! That was fun.
But mainly, in Superstore and Walmart, there was so much food variety!!! Especially in Superstore. I went shopping with my mother a couple times and on my own a couple times, and I was stopped in my tracks by decision fatigue several times each time.
My mother selected pizza from the frozen section, while I stood there with my jaw on the floor! The frozen pizza section was massive and I could see numerous pizzas that would have worked for me. I'm used to going to the grocery store, or ordering groceries online, and when it comes to pizza there are a few choices, and usually only one I like. The decision is easy.
Same with ice cream choices! And cheese and cereal and baked goods and a whole lot of stuff!!!
(BTW - the orange cheddar kind of threw me off. I grew up with orange cheddar, but it's been about 15 years since I've really seen it. I ended up buying marble cheese because it looked halfway normal.)
TV: I couldn't tell if there was freeview because the place we stayed had cable (or whatever it is). Nevertheless, it was nice to watch some different shows.
- Great Canadian Bake Show ... we used to get the British one years ago, but haven't in a long time.
- Two channels like HGTV ... we had no channels like that, so I watched all sorts of different shows.
- A channel devoted to music videos of the 80s and 90s which was fascinating.
(I say, we had no channels like that, because while we were away, they've changed everything with our freeview again and now we have one that has some HGTV-like shows!)
Music: If I'm not watching TV in the evening, I've got music on, and I've got a ton of music. However, that music video channel brought back a lot of memories. Music I hadn't heard in years. Same with the radio station in the car. We don't have a lot of radio stations here, and most are modern pop. In Canada, I found a station with older music ... again memories!
Plus, I had left a lot of cassettes with my parents and I was converting them to digital. That was like meeting old friends!
And of course, there was variety for cycling and walking and scenery.
One area there was less variety was in the world of department stores. There was Walmart. And when I had a browse through the clothing section, there wasn't much selection. I can do much better here. But that puzzled me because I recall more variety in previous years. Does everyone shop online now?
But a couple questions:
- what is with all the medication ads on TV???? They're hilarious! "If you're suffering from headaches, see if HeadacheEX is right for you". And then the low fast-talking voice comes on, "HeadacheEX isn't right for everyone and may cause blinding migraines, tension headaches, cluster headaches, sore neck and jaw. Talk to your doctor."
- what is with all the scent ads? Apparently clothes, furniture, carpets, houses, and everything smell bad and need products sprayed everywhere to make them smell better. I almost started feeling self-conscious!
Just a couple things that stood out to me.

Real quick bc kids are here; I am just waiting for the last two to arrive.
Karen VA- I agree with the rest of the ladies on the beautiful tribute video your other brother is making. It is going to be absolutely wonderful when it is finished. Great to have something like that! You should see if he can pause the music during parts of it, so you can have a "record" of his voice. I love to listen to old tapes of my parents and hear their voices.
Allie- In the 90s, cute women were referred to as Bettys. As in "She's a Betty". (referenced from The Flintstones). I think your car is a Betty. I have never named cars; but I did name my old lawn mower after a certain president because it couldn't be trusted to do its job and it took a lot of "cord yanking" to get it going. I also had a clothes dryer that I named after another president due to the fact that it was a very 1970s orange-y color and full of hot air.
Tracey- Love the scrap wood projects! The little houses turned out beautiful!
Pip - You are a rockstar! I adored the fact that your family came to greet you at the finish line. Hugs to you and Kirby! Job well done!
Annie- Your dad sounds like a handful! I guess the upside to my parents passing when I was/they were pretty young was the fact that we didn't have to go through end of life health issues. I did get a giggle when you told us that your dad was putting holes in the wall looking for studs. He is a very determined man to have that house ready for his wife. Find a stud finder and if it is too complicated for dad to use (some of them are) go ahead and mark the stud locations yourself and let him finish his project. I agree that men tend to get a little ornery when their vulnerabilities are showing. (I have a man like that, myself)
Machka- I am singing my happy song and doing my happy dance for you! What a wonderful trip! So happy you and your DH were able to take it and brava to you for making such wonderful travel arrangements! So well thought out! Your airbnb hosts sound like a dream! For me, that would be the "weak link" in the arrangements. the possibility of poor airbnb accomodations. So happy everything worked out, you had time for everything AND relaxing, and made the journey there and back again!
Heather- So glad you made the trip to visit with friends. Weather and friend's idiosyncracies be damned!
Sue- Thinking of you as you start on methotrexate. I hope you get to feeling better and that you aren't on it for long.
More of you I am thinking of and want to reply to, but no time. (Was that Kim that figured out her free time for the week?) I am right there with you in that time crunch. So hard. Welcome new ladies! Hugs to all. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)5 -
Good morning from the quite cloudy, soon-to-be-rainy Arkansas River Valley,
Kylia - That blood pressure is some scary stuff, woman. Did your doctor put you on any kind of medication for it?
Barbie -So that picture of Annie.
Machka - I agree with the hilarity of the medical ads and the "scent boosters" for laundry, etc. I especially like the ending line on the medication ads "Do not take if you are allergic to this medication." I think the laundry scent boosters are the biggest boondoggle ever... they don't actually clean your clothes, they serve no purpose whatsoever except to make your clothes smell "better." They've even put ones out that are "light," here in the U.S., as apparently the original ones smelled too strong for some people. It's kind of like paying more money for scented garbage bags... in my opinion, anyway.
Debbie - We teach people how to treat us:
Went to bed with a stinker of a barometric headache, and woke up with it too. Hoping it will break when the rain hits. Today is the last scheduled day of this six-week pottery class, but one class was canceled, so I have a feeling the instructor will add one more next week. Seems like it went by in moments, but simultaneously feels like it started months ago instead of just a few weeks ago. Time is all stretchy these days.
I've canceled all the different channels that I added to my Prime subscription, as I got what I wanted out of most of them... but I did keep one - The Great Courses. It's like being able to indulge in college course lectures while I'm working on clay or painting. So I'm deep into North American ancient history right now, dabbling in a drawing course, and learning the history of Gnosticism, among others.
During actual college lectures, all you can do is sit and take notes, so being able to do things like work with clay, etc., is fun... plus I can stop it whenever I choose, rerun something the lecturer said if I didn't catch it, and so on. Enjoying these enormously. Will be picking up Netflix in mid-month just to watch the Great British Baking Show, and will cancel it after the finale in the first week of December.
Egg spied a bird outside... she was making that chittering noise...

Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD, it more than likely is some kind of mold. Glad its under the linoleum! Oh remember when I said the inspection was changed to Wednesday? That was a little joke Chief played on me to keep cleaning! At the time we had laughed when he had said it, and I took the keep cleaning part as a joke but really thought the coming Wednesday part was true! Chief said "oh my little gullible wifie!!!😂😂 Grrrr! I ain't gullible!!😂
Had a nice video chat with my middle sister, the one with the numb hands and leg issue. She had an MRI and it showed some disc issues because she does have back and neck issues, but nothing conclusive. She will be getting pain relieving shots into the muscles in her neck soon. I was kinda sad when she told me the pain doctor asked if she wanted to quit smoking, and my sister said she told him no. Just crazy how the grip of addiction runs so deep. The good thing is they got the conversion done changing their oil heat to electric heat, and got the ducts cleaned. She said the duct guy found a couple mice and some frogs in there! So they will all be breathing easier and cleaner. I guess its a heater and purifier too.👍🏼 But all in all a nice chat. I usually hear from her because I have been continually asking her questions on Facebook Messenger, hoping she'll bite and connect.😁
Then I got a video call from my eldest sister, so cute she was watching her granddaughters, their pug dog was antagonizing poor Tucker, my sisters Bernese Mountain dog. So she'd be chatting then suddenly yell over to Tucker, "drop it" as he had some sort of toy in his mouth.😂. Reminded me of when I would call her when she used to have a day care in her home, when her kids were young (they're 40 yrs old now). I would ask her if I called at an ok time. Her response, "oh I just have the 4 babies in their high chairs having lunch, how are you"? The conversation continued with outbursts of " Johnnie no", and "put that down", and " oh I am just making homemade ketchup "! It was fascinating at the time, like she was a professional juggler! Once she inserted, " oh I am just canning tuna" like it was the most normalest thing in the world to be doing.😂😁💖. She has always been so industrious, and had such a good work ethic.

Michele It has been a long time (years) since I walked two dogs for two hours in the morning but I know for sure that step count for walking one or two dogs only always half or maybe two-thirds that of walking without dogs. If the dogs are frisky there may be additional calorie burn. I'm learning that step count is not the only measure of my exercise
I love cooking ,serving, and eating Thanksgiving foods. Gratitude is central to my life but the first time I ever fully enjoyed Thanksgiving was the time when I was in my late 30's and my parents went on a cruise and I was freed of their expectations and could go to a restaurant with friends
Allie congrats on your car. It always takes hours at the dealership but is so satisfying when you get home. In years past we named cars after our mothers and grandmothers. Our current sar is named Papillon.
Rita Your struggles with sugar have probably made you more understanding and sympathetic to people who struggle with alcohol or
tobacco
Annie and I walked for 40 minutes outside in the field and around the block. Jake and Bessie napped and are still asleep. Annie has finally settled into her bed behind my exercise bike so I can watch her and ride at the same time

Scent subject. What IS it about the scent additives to your laundry?!! I don't really understand the concept. I mean it makes your clothes smell good and what, you can wear them longer? I wear clothes maybe twice and then they go in the hamper. What are these people doing, wearing their clothes for a week? Then there's the cleaners for your washer so your clothes don't have that weird scent. Ok that's because the washers nowadays use less water, so what, the process of washing clothes doesn't clean your washer? Its a puzzlement!😂. (The King & I reference😁💖).

Carol - The picture of the lake is lovely... such a peaceful scene. Hopefully filled with fond memories for your family.
Rebecca - Ditto from me on the scents.
Went to town yesterday to pick up some leather work gloves for Corey at Sam's Club, and stopped in at Goodwill. Picked up four frames and a small shadow box for some pieces I'm working on, including that clock. Decided not to try framing it in clay, as I found the frame that had the mat and the size I wanted for the clockface for $5. Below is the piece the clockface was originally installed in before it fell off the wall, and I may yet use that for something else.

Heather - It's a lovely group of women. The one next to you seems to be not terribly happy, unlike you, who seem to be the happiest of the group.4

And Today Is: National Scrapple Day—Had to look up what ‘scrapple’ was. Here is the definition:
Other things to celebrate today in spoiler:1 -
Scrapple ... my MIL used to like it and liver mush ... . I can't even get near it.
Beth1 -
Lisa - I probably look happy because I was leaving two seconds after the photo was taken! No, I'm just good at smiling for the camera, unlike P, my difficult friend.
B and P went to see one last sailing ship this morning, while G and I strolled around looking for a coffee place. A long time later we found a Carluccio's and sat chatting until the others joined us for a light lunch.
Then I took an executive decision and suggested I pay for a taxi back to the hotel for all four of us, and I could grab my bag and get back in the taxi to the train station. Good plan. But B insisted on paying for the taxi.
I had to wait around a bit for my train, but it was on time and I watched a programme I had recorded on my phone, and listened to music, on my journey. Walked back from our local station.
Great to be home!
I twice admonished one or two of the group for using their mobile phones at the table. It's a big thing with me. The table is sacrosanct. I don't like it in any group, but definitely not while we are at table. P is the worst offender.
So..... it's done. Sigh of relief. I enjoyed some of it, especially the evening meal at the restaurant. Breakfast with B before P arrived. Coffee with G. I used my serenity bracelet a lot.
Now to relax this evening, and tomorrow to prepare for DSIL'S visit at the weekend.
Carol - Gorgeous view!
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Beth, I'm with you. Weird things besides scrapple include my ex-husband's love for beef tartare, as well as braunschweiger and pickled herring in cream sauce. The first time I saw a massive mound of raw ground beef with wedges of onion at the bottom of the mound to use to scoop the beef on, was at a christening after-party for one of his nephews. I just turned and left. My father had a jar of crunchy peanut butter near him for every meal and used it as a condiment. He would eat a forkful of that with every bite. My only odd food craving, I think, is vienna sausage. Occasionally, I just want that taste and texture. Well, that and Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. My current and final husband, the cook, utterly refuses to buy or cook either one...
The rain is steady now and it appears to be hanging around until midnight. Time for me to get in the shower before this afternoon's pottery class.
Later,
Love,
Lisa in AR3
