Lisa ... beautiful photo...
Rita ...what about bead crafts like jewelry, bracelets, etc? (I am craft-challenged and do no crafts but always liked what others accomplished with beads)
Christmas ... Well, I love Christmas and everything about it, but so much has changed over the years that most of what I love are now memories. Still, I do the cards (you knew that already), decorate and bake.
The gift-giving has dropped off significantly! I usually only give things to one of our niece's children who are still young, an adult niece and nephew on my husband's side (a gift card which will stop shortly... my family discontinued giving a few years ago ), my adult son who is currently living at home and my husband. I also found a few things I know my mom will enjoy. And I pretty much finished all of my shopping this weekend.
Most of the clean-up from our siding/soffit project is done and Habitat for Humanity is going to pick up the new/unused leftovers!
I sat too much this weekend in front of the computer and need to get moving again. I'm definitely back in the swing of things with my time-restricted eating and, so far this month, the scale is responding kindly. Made a casserole this weekend from an old recipe and threw the whole thing out ... canned soup, boxed stuffing mix ... loaded with MSG and things you couldn't pronounce ... my guys didn't even like it and that's saying something! Seems they've come to like less-processed eating too
Have a good week!

MFP Weekly Check-in for November 13, 2023
Rita in Roswell NM – Down to 172.8 water weight finally left.
Kylia in Ohio - I am going to say that I stayed steady. my scale has been all over the place from 127.5- 129. McDonalds twice, frozen pizza, and eating out twice combined with less water and more exercise are the culprits. I know I have made the best choices at the time, so will not fret. I will continue to walk, increase water, and make the best choices I can. Heads up ladies, we've got this every day!
Lanette SW WA State – Weight is holding steady. Pants that were too tight, especially around the waist, are getting comfortable again which is what I was aiming for. Still a little ways to go, but getting back into good health habits regarding food and exercise are the bigger win.

Today’s gratitude: Joe’s “I’m where I want to be” positive attitude and increasing generosity.
Thanks Ginny! Added that organic turmeric cream to my “wish list” but had to gulp a bit at the price . . . Go for the Greek, I’m toying with Hebrew Yours to Carol made me laugh right out loud. Behavior change indeed!
Rosemarie safe travels and hope the weather is surprisingly nice.
Lisa thanks for the honey dipping caplet trick!
Rita could you try macramé?
Carol when you give him choices do you say “X or Y?” or is it more open ended “What would you like for dinner?” I’d get bored cooking burgers, hot dogs and spaghetti and would just cook for myself, and let him eat it… or not like Barbie said.
Flea thinking of you too!

God, I offer myself to Thee
To build with me
and to do with me as Thou wilt.
Relieve me of the bondage of self,
that I may better do Thy will.
Take away my difficulties,
that victory over them may bear witness
to those I would help of Thy Power,
Thy Love, and Thy Way of life.
May I do Thy will always!

Got laundry going, emptied the dishwasher, and finally put last week's clean laundry away. Plus had two slow cups of tea and played a lot of solitaire. In a way, this week is like a vacation before the long haul of caring for my mother begins on Saturday. So I'm taking it easy. Plus I can't remember what else I wanted to get done.

Christmas The first year we moved to RV living a did a letter re-capping our trip through the country. The years since we have made our home in the park, I have not done this. Christmas card have gone down quite a bit now, but there are still a few people I send them to, just to let them know I’m thinking of them. Gifts for my 2 grandsons have gone from wrapped gifts to gift cards as they are both teens now. I get something for my oldest daughter and her husband but not the others. My younger daughter said no more gifting (good deal!) and my son, well, I don’t know where to actually send him anything as he is couch surfing at this time. I may send him something through Cash App, though I don’t like giving him money. My mom is 87 and doesn’t need anything so I will get her a nice pop-up card from Amazon. She loved the last one I sent her. As far as my DH and I, I fill a Christmas sock for both of us with little things, just to have something to open on Christmas. We have a tiny Christmas tree on the dash of the camper and I decorate outside a little. My Christmas celebrations have really dwindled down from the days we had a house! I never realized how expensive Christmas could be until we moved to the RV. Now, less is more. We are also a lot older now and have less income but we make do and enjoy it best we can.
We always invite people who are camping alone or at least bring them a big dish of food on Thanksgiving and Christmas. We had always done that when we had a house, and have continued. My DH enjoys the reactions people give him about his cooking and I do too. We sometimes get gifts for each other, but they are not usually surprises, but fun to wrap and wait until Christmas to open!

Allie ~ Our Pom would never have been under a blanket. He was the furriest thing and hot all the time! In the summer he would lay on the tile floor in front of the air conditioner vent. Miss him greatly.
Lisa ~ Lovely photo of the pink sky.
I am surprised that so many of you have started or finished your Christmas shopping. We will buy presents for our son's family but that is about it. My biggest desire is to get the Christmas tree up from the basement so we can enjoy the lights. Will probably make a few goodies.

I’ve seen that game and thought about trying it, but I already have one called 3D Match and they have a mini-game similar to that which makes me nervous/stressed trying to get the matches before the time runs out or the items make it to the end line before I can match them! So, I think I will pass. LOL

What do you do when you give your partner choices for dinner and they just tell you it doesn't matter. This is a daily thing at my house. My DH would live on hot dogs, spaghetti, and hamburgers if he had the choice.
Carol in GA
If they are leftovers, I give him the oldest dish. If not, I make what is easiest or is the easiest cleanup. I assume if he says that, he really doesn't care.

Oh yes Alfie in the winter is a sweater guy..
I got the laundry in the dryer ,dishes in the dishwasher, and all the clothes put away..
Tracy is dropping her car off at the garage at 1:30 and then we are going out to lunch..
We don't ever get 1 on 1 time so it will be nice.
Put meal worms out for the birds, will take them a few days to find them.. but they will happy campers once they do.
Well going to check on the laundry in the dryer then off to pick up Tracy.3 -
I don't much like Christmas, but my parents do. So I get pushed into celebrating their way. It's going to be tough this year. I can see myself putting in hours in the kitchen just to have my parents take two bites and fall asleep. A friend of mine recommended Bob Evans restaurant for takeout, and I might do that instead.
My mom comes home Saturday. Just a few more things to do.

My mother loved variety. She loved to travel and shop. She chose her clothing every day from her three closets of clothing that she had acquired through careful shopping. She loved to cook and usually modified recipes with her own touches. She liked restaurants and sampled different things on their menus even though she had a few food intolerances and frequently paid the price for what she ate.
My father loved the safety of the familiar. He grew up in poverty and liked the security of having what he needed and not craving what was out of his reach. He wore similar clothing every day and would have been happy with the same food every day except that he was married to my mother, the creative cook. He said that the way to save money was to not spend it. He worked hard and was available to ful to those in need. After years in the Coast Guard, he would have been happiest staying home but he traveled to please my mother. He drove his cars until they weren't capable of being drivien or until my mother pushed him to buy a newer one. He only bought reviously owned cars, never a new one.
I am more like my father although I have experienced more variety throughout my life--enough to know that I prefer the familiar and routine.
It has been interesting to read on this thread our various inclinations toward the routine or toward variety

Someone asked ?Lannette if walking was making a difference in me? Yes!!! I am more productive and much happier!

Allie--Sorry to hear about your friend. I agree that would be a shock.
Barbara--Good for Joe and the book-candy store.
Lanette--The new system is going. Most the ER and floors still call us and I just give them the information and connect. So much easier and less stressful. Thanks for asking. Now I am dealing with the remodling going on around us. they have boxed us in with only one door out. That wasn't so bad, but the sound of the machines was a bit much. They have been promising to redo my part for a couple years. This just makes us look terrible. But I give up asking.
Tracey--I love the radio. What a neat gift.
Lisa--Beautiful sunset.
All this talk about Christmas. It is my favorite time of year. I love the lights and we decorate the around the house as it makes me happy. I send out around 150-175 cards with a Christmas letter and picture. It is a time to touch family and friends that live away. To me getting cards is one of the best gifts. DH has just gotten used to it and goes along. But I try not and do anything until after Thanksgiving. I did order new Christmas PJ's this last weekend.

In our area, there are a few Christmas buffets which are quite nice. You've got to book fairly early to get a table ... they are popular!
We do that or get a roast chicken from the grocery store and roast some vegetables.

Kylia - I love this. I don't know if there's a "magic" number where the endorphins kick in - some say 7,000 steps, some say 10,000 or more. And maybe less. Whatever works for each of us is the magic number; we are individuals.
I know I was surprised how much better I feel just making myself walk for 10 minutes several times a day, generally racking up 8,000 to 12,000 total per day by the time I go out to tend the chickens or just walk in the house doing laundry, etc. etc.
Before the three 10 minute "stints", I was generally 4,000 to 6,000 steps per day.

Geesh busy afternoon
Had a nice lunch with Tracy.and then went to pick up Miles.. she got a call that she needed both sets of brakes done..to the tune of 719.00 and she about fainted..
Mom stepped in and took care of it.. you can't be driving a car without brakes especially driving my grandson around..
Dont worry ,I paid the credit cards mostly off
So it wont set me back to much.. and I'll pay it off by next month..
Im telling Sean and Jean no presents this year.1 -

Lisa: Gorgeous sunset!
Joy: We had a toy poodle and I purchased a strong razor to shave him. I did this but it never looked great. After a while, we just took him to the vets to be shaved. It was like having 2 dogs. One with a snout and one without!
RVRita: We had a Bay window growing up. I loved looking at the falling snow out that window!
Heather: 3 miles ...that is great! The pups have interfered with my walking. I am tired more and too tired to walk.
Lanette: I love to do research on the internet.
Hope: I am glad you got a walk in with Zoey.
Barbie: My husband was like your Dad. He would have preferred to have stayed home. But he went places because I wanted to go places. Now that I am older I want to leave town less. My goal is to leave town 3x a year.
Vicki: Wow! 150 to 175 cards! That is wonderful!
I am cleaning the house because my son and DIL are staying here Friday night. I am making good progress. A little bit each day and it should be in good shape! I have wreaths to put up on the windows. I don't know if I will accomplish this...this year or not. I still have my Fall decoration up.
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia5 -
Tracey - I keep forgetting to say that I love the idea of making a giant Kleenex box to put Tyler's afghan in. Gramily always comes through with something odd... got to keep up that tradition.
Nothing new at the gastroenterologist, but I'm off the Rinvoq until February, and will discuss possibly starting Skyrizi with her at that time. We'll see. I'm just going to try to be good to myself, and have sense enough not to overexert or stress. Always easier said than done. The hard part is watching Corey work on building the sunroom and being unable to help. Not that he would let me anyway.
Spoke to the roofer this morning. He's the same one who replaced our house roof a while back. I called him to ask him what shingles we would need to match the house, and where we could find them. Also talked him into coming out on Thursday to give us a bid on the sunroom roof. Should be a few hours work for him, and we have all the materials needed except the shingles. Egg is inspecting the work Corey has done so far... The studs are up for all but one end wall, and he finally quit for the night after putting up another few roof joists. Egg approved the work, apparently.
Later, y'all,

had a really great weekend with mom- the only thing I had planned for the weekend, pruning dad's blackberry plants(2 100ft rows) didn't even get looked at. That is ok.
Mom and I were up at 3:30 to go in and help at the food bank/food program at church. Lots of work but worth it- got back to the house and I made us lunch. She fell asleep and slept the whole afternoon and woke u as I was making dinner- It was our early Thanksgiving meal beings I won't be up there on Thanksgiving day. I made us salmon, jumbo shrimp, stuffed mushrooms, delicata squash and asparagus.
She really enjoyed it. After dinner she was up late baking a cake to take to the early Thanksgiving meal at the church yesterday. I only had 3 hrs sleep Friday night so I was exhausted. She was using the mixer at 10:30-11;00. I sleep on the couch(right next to the kitchen, no doors, just open doorways). I went in and joked that if the room mate wasn't there I would be asleep already. She said she knows. It is time for her to move out but she doesn't want to be the bad guy and tell her to leave. She also said this morning that it is better than being completely alone out there.
Sunday morning I dropped her off at church at 10 and went and visited with my aunt(dad's last sibling, out of 10) for a few hours. Got back to the church and helped with the prep work for the dinner at 3. We didn't get home until after 7:30. We were both very tired. Mom fell asleep soon after we got home.
She kept thanking me for coming up, telling me how much she loved have me there and how much she loved me.
It looks like I will be up there three times this coming month so that will be great- candy making the first weekend for at least 3, maybe 4 days. The second will be just for the day, a cousin will be in town and then Christmas.
Now need to catch up reading here-7 pages to read.

Today’s gratitude: Joe’s paying attention. He stopped at the book store on our way to have the dogs’ nails trimmed and said “come in here, there’s something I want you to see.” Imagine my amazement at the display of chocolates, including boxed See’s. He’d discovered this new offering while browsing the book store and kept it for a surprise. While I was drooling over the case, he was getting twitchy as there were a lot of people at the counter getting coffee and pastries. He walked around the corner, found another cashier who had a stack of boxes of See’s, this time containing a box of dark chocolate. I would have been happy with a few pieces, but he insisted on buying a whole pound box. After 39 years he’s figured out and remembered my preference for the dark chocolates. I am amazed and grateful… and so far have kept it limited to one almond cluster and one molasses chip ;}

Sees is the best- My favorite is the Nuts and Chews box- it is all good~!
I got some little hard candies from there in a gift bag at the dinner last night- they are like the lollie pops but little pieces. Just had a butter scotch one- really good. Perfect size- Need to check about buying some if they aren't too expensive, to add to my box of candies I make for former hubby- they all love See's but can only get it if they order online

found our back yard feral cat dead by the back door- DH said he hadn't been eating most of the weekend. He lived in our back yard for about 10 yrs we thing- a LONG time. Was injured as a kitten and lost an eye so we called him Jack(one eyed jack). I will pull all the cat beds that I put out around the back yard for him and wash them and put away all the food and water dishes. One less spot for the coons to be attracted to.
