90 pound loss in 1 year
67 -
First running & lifting program done!56 -
Started this journey in April, and this picture was taken last month. Since then I have lost another 7 pounds.
It’s very difficult for someone with chronic pain to try to exercise, but changing eating habits and taking a 30 minute walk every day even if it’s a slow walk has made the world of difference…. I have now lost 42 pounds since April!!58 -

On the left, waiting to receive my gold belt in 2019. Just starting this journey. Overweight at 245 lbs. and generally unhealthy. On the right, last night (oct 26, 2023) wearing the same gi, waiting to receive my black belt. Over 4 years into this journey and weighing 176 lbs. Three years straight of healthy habits and 2 years straight of healthy bloodwork. None of this would have been possible without the support of my family, teammates and teachers. No prescription medicine involved, just focus, diet, vitamins, and exercise. Willpower is the most powerful medicine and tool to overcome many health challenges we face today. Every day is another chance to start down the road of self control, self accountability and self love. You waste more energy making excuses why you can’t do it, than the energy it would take to get started. It’s not easy and the road is rocky and bumpy and tiresome at times. When you see the intermediate and long term goals in the distance, the dividends start paying off and you feel the difference in your life. Don’t stop there. Keep going. The momentum just keeps building and building and you start to accomplish amazing things.

1 year and 100 lb down. 70-80 to go. 365 lb:
265 lb: (the spare tire was first to show up, clearly going to be the last thing to go). I stopped wearing this shirt in 2006 when it got tight but it was in ok shape so I kept it for "someday". Someday is here.

Congratulations. That is one heck of an accomplishment. I hope you are as proud of your success as you should be. Keep up the good work.2

1. There is an awesome hypothyroidism group here.
Go to the home page on your PC and search for it.
2. Also go to the MFP announcement threads and read. There is a ton of good info there to get you started.
3. Try cutting out or at least back processed food from your diet. That alone is a great way to start.
4. Make sure you are properly dosed on thyroid replacement. Naturethyroid changed my life. As you lose, your pcos will likely improve.
Best wishes! You CAN do it!!
Nature thyroid - is this natural dessicated thyroid/thyroxine? I am seriously considering paying the price of a consultation privately to try ndt. I'd have to pay monthly for my prescription too but if it makes loads of difference then it would be worthwhile. Are you UK based do you have a good consultant. X2 -

I remember your pic and shirt! You had a different user name, though, or am I crazy?
Everything looks different but especially your jawline, which has receded noticeably. Or would that be sharpened?
Thanks for sharing! Truly a success story!8 -
