Happy Birthday Dakota. He's so handsome @Mari33a ! Thanks for the encouragement. Sorry about the broken pedal. Hope it can be fixed and you don't have to replace the entire bike.
Five minutes in the cold tub is too long for me @polskagirl01 ! It amazes me that you enjoy that. Glad it helps you feel better though. I look forward to seeing the completed crafts tomorrow.
Thanks @eleanorhawkins ! I appreciate the encouragement. Good luck with your club race!
Thanks all for the kuddos on reaching my year goal too! It means a lot.
@daria0919 I'm on Strava as Vicky R. @kgirlhart, I didn't know there were groups on there too. I'll have to figure out how to find it!
Great run @emptydog !
Glad you had a nice run @kgirlhart!
@AlphaHowls Thanks for the link to the Strava group. Now I won't have to spend time figuring it out. I didn't know all of that about you. Great job on the weight loss! And I think I missed your birthday, so Happy Belated Birthday! I like that quote. It is so true. Great job on the crazy miles today.
Nice run @SummerSkier .
Welcome @Mokkola ! Feel free to jump in on the conversations or ask questions. You have joined a very supportive group with all sorts of different levels of running/walking.

1 Dec - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - treadmill
1.00/80.00 miles
I worked today from 8 - 3. It was a bit stressful. Details under the spoiler if you are interested in non-running info about my day. There were four teachers unexpectedly out for illness. I am their only sub and was already there because the director was off today for her birthday. They had to combine classes and make some other changes so people could take their lunch breaks. Plus a lot of the kids have been/are sick - strep, RSV and CoVid going around. Everyone is doing their best to stay well. It just put the whole building in a chaotic mood, if that makes sense. Everything worked out, but it just wasn't a normal day for anyone. AND then, about 3:30, the police blocked off the downtown area for the annual tree lighting tonight. That included access to our parking lot, so the parents all had to figure out how to get there to get their child - the police would NOT let them through. We weren't warned ahead of time, so they didn't know until the first parent came who couldn't get through. AND, I got a call from the assisted living that my cousin tested positive for CoVID and his oxygen levels dropped, so they sent him to the local VA to be checked out. I checked with the VA after I got home and they did send him back to the assisted living, so his oxygen must not be too bad. Later, he called me and sounded good. But, he couldn't hear me, so I couldn't ask questions. I'll call and talk to his building's nurse tomorrow. I'm just glad they didn't keep him in the hospital. In the end, everything turned out okay, but getting there was not easy today.
I didn't eat much today, so was hungry when I got home. So, I just did a mile walk on the treadmill before eating dinner. It's a slow start to December, but tomorrow is a new day.

I ran more drills today. Short uphill, fast cadence, etc. I am happy it's the weekend.

Morning everyone.
Got in 10K (at 09"46 pace). Bit of a struggle today. It's cold... And I need gloves and a beanie type hat.
Got a social run tomorrow at the Running club
@daria0919 thanks for the follow. I sent you one back 😊6 -
Great run @chris_in_cal !
Nice run @tarun_yadavA . Sorry it was a struggle and cold. I hope the social run goes well. Are you going shopping today for gloves and a beanie?1 -
Your struggle pace is my RUN AS FAST AS I CAN pace @tarun_yadavA please keep winter overseas. 🥶🥶
@chris_in_cal quite a few here have dropped a LOT of weight and kept it off. I only had about 30 but thru running and MFP have kept it gone for 6 plus years which is not unusual for me. I have yo yo d a lot over the years and it's not normally a speedy change so I just enjoy the running and keep on here.
Today was a MUCH better run. I did not expect it to be based on the indulgences yesterday evening but it was funny that it did turn into a good and pretty speedy run compared to yesterday where I thought I was starting out well and then slogged after a few miles. Yesterday at an hour in I was almost ,5 mile less distance wise than today which is a LOT.
The ticker seems easier to use these days. Maybe it was updated since the last time I tried it. 🤷♀️
1 Dec 5.48 cum 5.48
2 Dec 7.02 cum 12.5

My goals for December:

12/1 4.17 miles, Crazy Laps! B3 Bands (leg) for 22 minutes of this

So, yesterday, I did a numbers check/crunch and realized my proposed goal is still within my grasp.524.18 miles needed for December 2023 to make 6000 miles for 2023.
483.01 to go!
Hang on Timmy!8 -
6000 miles for the year @AlphaHowls?!!! Blows my mind 🤯
My brother came into town this weekend for a gathering for his in-laws, but carved out a few hours this morning so we could go for a run. It was really nice. Got in 10 miles.

Dec 2 – 10.10 miles
10.10 miles/100 mile goal
I took yesterday as a rest day. After work I went to a cooking class/wine tasting for a friend’s birthday and we had so much fun. Today I met the same friend and we ran 10 miles. It was cloudy and overcast but the rain held off and the temp was a nice 50F. After the run we walked 1.52 miles to a nearby coffee shop. Oh and I stopped at the grocery store before heading home and found Honeycrisp Apples for $1.29/pound! And they looked good, not scrappy or half rotten.
Welcome @Mokkola – Hope the elbow heals soon.
Bummer about your spin bike @Mari331a. You haven’t had it that long have you?
@AlphaHowls – you can so make that goal!!

My Garmin Forerunner is arriving soon, so exciting!
It's great to be part of this community12 -
Welcome Hector,
You're a planner, my type of guy. I signed up for a half and have a nice long 20 week plan to prepare.project9percent wrote: »I also bought a Garmin Forerunner 255. It's in transit. Does Garmin have a social aspect to it?
I'm happy for you. I was almost going to pull the cord on a Forerunner 255 during the Cyber Monday sale. From what I understand the Forerunner 255 has every running bell and whistle. Alas, I'm sticking with my older Forerunner 745 for now...mine is still a good fitness tracker.
All the good social is happening here in these MFP monthly threads. Garmin Connect does let me share details of my runs. I like looking at my stats, and my Garmin "friends."

@Teresa502 - Because the winter weather is so windy & wet here I bought it September 2019 & have got a lot of use from it so it owes me nothing. I have a road bike I don’t use & my brother is an excellent cyclist & he has lent me a turbo trainer. I can use until I get sorted myself.7

Nice run today @SummerSkier . I'm glad you had a better run today and glad the ticker is working better. I need to give it another try.
@AlphaHowls You are the only person I know who would say, 483.01 miles is total doable in the next 30 days! I hope you make it. You are amazing. Is Timmy that heart shaped leaf?
@Scott6255 So glad you got in a nice run with your brother.
That sounds like a fun birthday outing @Teresa502 ! Great run with your friend too.
Great wun @project9percent ! With that pace, your runs were fast.

1 Dec - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - treadmill
2 Dec - Walked 2.00 miles - Ran 7.00 miles - treadmill
10.00/80.00 miles
I wasn't feeling the best this morning, so took it easy and did some on-line shopping I've been meaning to do. I forced myself to get going and do a run around 1:45 pm. I wasn't sure how much I would be able to do and thought about just doing one mile run and one walk. But, after I got going, I was able to push myself for a long run, which I felt I needed to give me confidence that I can complete my race next week....yes, just 7 days from today! I'm not sure that running 9 miles a week before the race is the best idea, but I probably won't get a chance to run much next week, so it should be okay. I was slow as Christmas with a 3/2 min run/walk, but I got it done. Glad I did now that it is over and I didn't feel too bad doing it.

From Google:
Children of all ages learn to welcome change with open arms. Luigi, an autumn leaf reluctant to leave his branch, teaches us to be brave when facing new experiences and shows us that an amazing world waits beyond the backyard!
I knew the story as Timmy. Yes, he is the heart shaped leaf hanging on.

01/12 4.01 miles
03/12 4.03 miles

It’s really icy here in places but lovely & sunny too. I’m meeting my sister for lunch so I have the calories in the bank.9 -

Ran at the lakefront park this morning. Very foggy.
12/1 - 3 Miles. Field House. 93-day streak.
12/2 - 1 Mile. Field House.
12/3 - 2.09 Miles. Lakefront park. Foggy, 39F.8 -
I need to figure out how to SAVE my ticker. Seems like I have to recreate it every time <sigh>
Not feeling too much in the running mood today altho it was perfect weather. But I started out with a walk and then ran 3.5 and then walked the last bit.
that is perfect @tarun_yadavA you are probably a fun social runner. What always irritates me running with others is when they try to pace me faster so they always seem to be a step ahead. I usually just stop and let them run by themselves.

68°F/20°C it was cooler when I started.
Whew, this plan threw me right into longer runs. Tomorrow, my prediction: Pain!
December Running Goal: 14 runs, 50 miles- Dec 1 - 1.66 miles
- Dec 3 - 7.36 miles

@chris_in_cal Great job! 7+ miles . Way to go!
Last night it snowed a bunch so I got a deepish snow run in today. It was not that easy, but it was quite nice. I did completely eat it though. I was getting hot from running in said deepish snow and wanted to take off my jacket and bang, I was laying on the asphalt. My knee is bruised but I was mostly concerned about the welfare of my new running pants and whether anyone else has witnessed me falling down like an idiot. Luckily, no holes and no people around. After I got up, I paid lots more attention to my footing and making wide turns. I ran 9km.9 -
Hi all 👋
My target for December is 50 miles/80km, either walking or running. I do hope to build this up over time, gradually building in some runs.
Here's my update for December (I didn't start til the 2nd):
2 - 8.5km walking. Off to a good start 😀
3 - 8.6km walking. Yay! Another decent day.
Good luck to everyone else!
8 -
I like that @AlphaHowls !
@Mari33a Nice run and great job putting calories in the bank. I hope you enjoyed your lunch with your sister.
Nice run with the running club @tarun_yadavA !
Nice run @SummerSkier . I still can't get the ticker to get out of the refresh loop. The last time I did get it to work, I had to do it again every day. When I first started on here it worked great and I could save it. Not sure what they did, but I wish they would put it back like it used to be.
@chris_in_cal That is a long run for the beginning of a plan! You did great though. I hope you aren't too sore tomorrow.
Pretty snow @Laurz9191 ! I'm glad you weren't hurt when you fell.
You are doing great @Mokkola 1

3 Dec - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - treadmill
11.00/80.00 miles
This was my normal rest day one mile walk on the treadmill between church and lunch.
Upcoming race: T-10 miler on Dec 96 -
December Goal: 130 Miles
12/1: 3.30 miles
12/3: 10.10 miles
13.40/130 miles completed for December
I took yesterday as a rest day and today I ran 10 miles. It was really great running weather. It was pretty chilly at 44° F feels like 37° at the start, but I reminded myself that I need to dress for the end of the run, not the beginning. I wore shorts and a t-shirt with sleeves and gloves. I was chilly starting out, but it was sunny and after about 4 miles I had taken off the gloves and sleeves. It was 65° by the end, but I was dressed just right.

Morning all.
Got in 5.15M (at 09"43 pace)
@chris_in_cal well done on going from an inactive November to a 7Miler! 🙌
Hope training plan working for you 🤞
@quilteryoyo thank you 😊5 -
I am not sure I like that training plan @chris_in_cal and hopefully you are not too sore today. 😳
Love seeing we are already on page 3. This has to be one of the BEST challenges on MFP.4
