Really uneasy night, woke up in pain, right knee, gout attack. Took some medicine, taped it and iced it. Difficulty getting up and moving by 6 AM. Back started spasming, and I was just not doing well. Dragged myself outside and down the road. The first 3 miles were difficult, trying to find stride and pace that did not make me want to cry. By mile 3, pain eased and I was able to get the miles. At mile 1 was where I found the cows! I was so excited to see them. Even one of the walking neighbors commented how excited he was to see them again.

@yirara Great running, but so sorry you got tripped and fell. I'm glad you are okay. Gotta be careful of those cheese slicers too.
All fine! Just need my tetanus refresher now instead of sometime early next year.

@quilteryoyo good luck today!!!!1

Last night a friend and I drove to a neighboring town for a Christmas Fun Run. It was held on the towns greenbelt trail and it was decorated for Christmas the entire route. We met early and ran 5.68 miles before the official run and the run was 2.86 miles according to my watch giving us 8.5 miles for the evening.8

Good luck and have fun @quilteryoyo ! Looks like Tippy is living the dream!!3

I thought I posted this last night, but I guess I didn't.
Thank you @daria0919, @scott6255, @tarun_yadavA, @shanaber, @teresa502. @quilteryoyo, @martaindale, @chris_in_cal,
@eleanothawkins, @summerskier, @polskagirl01. I didn't run today. I didn't sleep well and I just needed the rest. It's been a really tough day for my husband and me. We had Bunny for 16 years and we weren't really ready to let her go. I did take Pup to the park yesterday and walked 1K with her. And today I took her for a walk around the neighborhood for half a mile. She's doing OK, but she's never been an only dog so we are giving her some extra attention.
@polskagirl01 I am so sorry about your dad. I am glad that you were able to make it to the visitation. Hugs and prayers.
@quilteryoyo Tippy looks like she is enjoying the trip. Good luck on your race tomorrow!
Congrats on getting into the Berlin Marathon @Laurz9191!

Today is the local 5K at the park near my house, but I decided not to run it this year. I am just tired and not in the mood to socialize. Plus it benefits the Humane Society and some people bring their dogs and they usually have dogs there that need to be adopted and my heart just isn't in it this year. Garmin said my body battery was 5 when I went to bed, and 29 when I got up, so I am just going to rest today. I will plan to do my long run tomorrow, but I won't be racing, and plan to take it pretty easy.
@teresa502 That Christmas run looks fun.11 -
Managed 4 miles this morning. Did it with my husband. Longest at one time distance so far for me since joining this group in October.
Thanks guys! You inspire me with all you do and motivate me to get back into it. I’m doing the tortoise approach, slow and steady. Not ready to turn to jogging yet, but happy that I’m getting more distance in. Will plan to start ‘wogging’ soon on some of the shorter distances.
10 -
@kgirlhart hope you get some good rest today and feel better tomorrow.
@daria0919 way to go getting your longest distance so far since October!
Well...thought I would do a HM today since it feels like forever since I've done one. Started out just taking it easy, but of course that didn't last. Saw that I was on pace to break my HM PR ( Houston 2018) after I hit 10K, so just tried not to slow down. Ended up with a new PR by 3 minutes 😁

Thanks @Scott6255 And congrats on your HM PR!1
-
@scott6255 you were flying. Even at the end. I started out fast today and ended up slogging. That means with the cold front overnight tomorrow I will start out slow and race myself? LOL.
Goal of 140 this month. Not sure how that will play out but I will keep moving.. walking miles are done for the year at 500+ now. I think I will definitely make 1500 running miles and my goal is 1523 of course to total 2023 deliberate for the year.

@polskagirl01 Condolences on the loss of your dad. I'm so glad the travel chaos worked out and you made it home.
@Scott6255 Congrats on the new PR! 🎉
@quilteryoyo Can't wait to hear about your 10 miler! Heading over to Strava after this to see how it went!3 -
December total: 44.7/164 miles
12/1: 6 miles
12/2: 12 miles
12/4: 9 miles
12/5: 2.7 miles
12/7: 5 miles
12/9: 10 miles
Tough one today. It was about 73F and 90% humidity after having a few weeks of pretty good temps. Though still not quite as hot and humid as the summer, it was definitely summer-esque.
I fell into my long run pace pretty easily, which was too fast for these conditions and by mile 5 I was struggling. I slowed down, took a few walk breaks, and just focused on getting it done. I'm ready for the incoming cold front!4 -

Hey, that's great! What a story, and 3:00 mins is no joke.
A birthday week and a PR week.... pretty good in my book. Congrats @Scott62554 -
Hi all, I didn't check this thread for a few days. Here's my best effort to catch up. You guys move fast *wink*
@yirara sorry to hear about your accident you got this! So cool that you can go to another country for entertainment. Sorry to hear about family emergencies as well
@shanaber thanks for sharing that inspirational story of the 80 y/o man. And they say that I'm gonna wear out my knees if I run too much, we'll see.
@eleanorhawkins you remind of this meme I saw that goes something like "my therapist recommend running to help with my depression, so I did it, I'm still depressed but now I'm fast" sorry if you it's not funny but the thing is that we can't work on everything at once so sometimes we compromise.
@scott6255 have you heard of Dr David Sinclair, he does a lot of studies and talks about real age, you might be interested to find out your real age which it must be way less than 62.
@quilteryoyo thanks for your support
@polskagirl01 sending thoughts and prayers for your family situation.
@laurz9191 CONGRATS on making the Berlin marathon!
@kgirlhart so cool to run into foxes and deer. The view is always better outside than on the couch. It looks like run most days. Great endurance. Sorry about the pup
@daria0919 great job with the walks! and congrats on your PR, keep pushing a little bit more each time. You got this.
@emptydog congrats on your triple digit streak.
@alphahowls sorry to hear about the pain and aches but it looks like it doesnt stop you. It's amazing how you shook the pain off.

Same storm is heading our way tonight and tomorrow here in Virginia. Right now says thunderstorms for us. Hopefully no tornadoes.

A bit nervous. My running programme asks for 40 minutes running today. It's at a pace I'll manage, but I've not run for 40 minutes straight for over a year. I did manage 30 minutes though. So lets see how far I get.8

Hi everyone
First off... @quilteryoyo well done on your race.
@Scott6255 - amazing running! Killing it Sir 🙌
Got in 5miles at 09"40.
At my mother's for awhile... Her knee replacement op got moved forward... So gonna help out here (spoiler alert: not really good at whole caregiving thing!)... but that means eating a ton of cr-p for the next 1-2 weeks!
Ohhh... Why not... This has been on Facebook, Instagram story, all the family group chats and a teenager's Snap...
Something to lighten the mood amidst all the death of loved ones and bad weather alerts...So didn't run yesterday.
Here's one of those 'How it started' , 'How it ended' posts!
So, about 7 of us guys... Went for drinks. Pub crawl. Near my house. Like walking distance. Anyways decided to make it festive - Santa Hats, Christmas sweaters etc etc.
So here's how it started...
Soooo cos of my mother... Wife had been cooking all day. Stuff to take to my Mothers for the week.
So after about 6 🍻 in...
Started talking about food... So I mentioned Ash (wife) had made this one particular chicken dish. So the guys were all, 'Omg that sounds soooo good right now'. So I was all, 'yeah sure... What the hell... There's plenty... Come round guys'.
So turned up home around 10pm unannounced with all the guys.
Anyhoo.... so shifted the guys night back to mine.... Just carried on drinking... Then Out came the harder stuff 🥃
And here's how it ended
Suffice to say... I didn't make my run yesterday.
So running streak ended.
And I have been in the doghouse with the wife ever since.
Not impressed she had to come downstairs, put on like, clothes clothes, and deal with all these hungry drunk dudes. Then me passed out.
Soooo.... My weekend! 😳7 -
@tarun_yadavA did your son snap a photo of you and post it? too funny. Yeah if it was me and I woke up to a house full of drunks passed out I think I might be a little upset also. Maybe a good thing you are staying at your Mom's for a while.

Morning all - pouring rain here today. Having granddaughters over for indoor holiday decorating, so won’t get a walk in today.
@tarun_yadavA nice run. Love the story and photos! 😆
@daria0919 I'm on Strava as Vicky R. @quilteryoyo I put in a friend request on Strava. Hope your race went well!2 -
Oh @tarun_yadavA maybe one day you'll learn...but best to you!1
-
I ran 4 miles this morning. At 6:30 it was dark and raining but rain is in the forecast for all day so I figured I may as well get it done. The temp was 52F so it wasn't too uncomfortable. Glad you are safe @AlphaHowls. The storm rolled through here last night. Thankfully, the mountains we have usually protect us from the tornadic conditions. We did have thunder and lightning but no high winds.
Way to go on that HM PR @Scott6255!
Fun night for you @tarun_yadavA! Hope all goes well with your mom's recovery and I'm glad that you can be there for her.
@daria0919 - what part of Virginia are you located? I'm in down in the corner in the southwest part close to the TN/NC/WV/KY state lines.4 -
That looks like a lot of fun @Teresa502 . I love the picture of you "in" the carriage.
@kgirlhart Hugs to you. I know it was hard to let Bunny go. I'm glad you were able to make it out for a walk with Pup.
You're doing great @daria0919 . Congrats on your longest distance since Oct. So glad your husband went with you.
Wow! Amazing @Scott6255 ! Great job on the PR for the HM on a whim. You are amazing.
You are doing great with the mileage @SummerSkier !
Nice running in those conditions @martaindale ! I defiantly feel yah.
You are doing great @project9percent .
Are you okay @AlphaHowls ? I saw the tornado damage down that way. I hope it was not near you.
Thanks @tarun_yadavA . Your poor wife. No wonder you are in the dog house! At least someone cared enough to put a pillow under your head. I hope your mom's surgery goes well.
Have fun decorating @daria0919 . I think I accepted your request. If not, let me know and I'll look again.
