@Scott6255 and @shanaber Happy birthday to both of you! I hope you had a great day!
@polskagirl01 Safe travels! I hope you can get an early flight out! Best wishes for you family emergency!
Today during my insanely busy week I snuck in a 9.5km run. The snow is mostly gone but it wasn’t too muddy. It was great to be out running.
So, really exciting news for me!!! I have been checking my email all day waiting to see if I won a spot in the lottery for the 50th Berlin marathon next September. At 5pm I finally got an email. I’m in! I have been dreaming of running this marathon since I came to Germany in 2004- so I’m super happy that I finally have a chance .
So far 18.6km for December.8 -
@polskagirl01 hugs, thoughts and prayers. I hope the journey, stress and emergency don't take their toll on you too much either.
@quilteryoyo sounds like you maybe overdid it a bit, although it could also be a case of pre-race-itis. Hope icing and rest do the trick.
Family problems since Sunday have led to various races to the hospital in the middle of the night and a severe lack of sleep, so I had to swap Monday's scheduled hill reps for an hour on the bike, and I wasn't too sure how I'd cope with today's long run, but I survived. We did 5 Backyard loops (the loop we'll be aiming to do 8 times on the 17th). One friend joined me for all of them, another did the first 3 with us. Those last 2 after she left were a bit tough, my legs didn't really want to bend much at the end. But we did it, worked out around 20 miles altogether I think. I do fine with the repetitive nature of this format, and actually really like not having to carry much fuel or water, but the standing around waiting for the next loop to start is a pain as you start to get cold. I should probably force myself to put a jacket on while we wait, or aim to slow down even more to reduce the amount of downtime. I'm telling myself that 3 bad nights probably equal 3 loops so I'll be fine for the 8 as long as I get enough rest beforehand.8 -

Shoulda msg'd me sooner... Could have at least given you some good food/bar options near the airport rather than room service type stuff.
Anyways... Hope all ok with family emergency! 🙏

December Goal: 130 Miles
12/1: 3.30 miles
12/3: 10.10 miles
12/5: 6.31 miles
12/6: 6.31 miles
26.02/130 miles completed for December
It was 34° F this morning and I pretty much ran the same 6.3 mile run as yesterday. It was colder than yesterday, and colder than I like, but other than that it was a lovely run. I saw two pairs of glowing eyes. I thought maybe cats or small dogs. Turned out it was foxes. I really only saw one for sure. By the time I got to where they were, one had scattered but the one I saw clearly was definitely a fox. Then about half a mile down the road I saw three deer. They were on the soccer field where I often see deer in the mornings.
@scott6255 That is so funny. Lucky for you you have a twin brother who knows how old you are.
@polskagirl01 Oh no! Sorry about the family emergency and being stuck at the airport does not help. The cake looks pretty good though.
@quilteryoyo Hope the shin pain is nothing serious and doesn't affect your race this weekend.

5K afternoon walk
7.2 miles total so far in December
@polskagirl01 - sorry to hear - hope you have a nice rest this evening and a pleasant trip home tomorrow.
@quilteryoyo - hope that shin pain is temporary and you recover quickly.2 -
Thanks @tarun_yadavA .
Nice running @yirara . You'll have to let us know how you like the plan.
Oh no @polskagirl01 ! I hope you can get a flight back to the states tomorrow. Prayers for the family emergency. That cake looks pretty good.
Congratulations @Laurz9191 ! That's exciting. When is the race?
Thanks @eleanorhawkins ! I hope the family situation is all better. That does sound stressful. Great running today. So, how does that race work? Why do you have to stand around waiting for the next loop?
Thanks @kgirlhart . Great running. I think seeing a couple of glowing eyes in the dark would freak me out. Maybe I'm just a big ol' scaredy cat.
Thank you @daria0919 ! Nice walking.2 -

There was snow on the mountain tops in NC and flurried as I was driving and when I stopped at the welcome center - so got to see my first snow of the season.
Snow on the mountain top in NC. There was more later on, but I was driving so couldn't get a picture.
I got to the hotel where Tippy and I are spending the night at about 4:10 this afternoon.
The first thing we did after I checked in was to go for a fast 1.25 mile walk before it got dark and any cooler as the sun was quickly setting. It was a nice walk. AND, my shin felt just fine. I am still going to put some ice on it tonight, just to be on the safe side.
I think it wore Tippy out.
Upcoming race: T-10 miler on Dec 96 -
@polskagirl01 sorry about your family emergency and your travel troubles Prayers going up!
@eleanorhawkins ! I hope the family situation is all better too!
@quilteryoyo hope your shins continues without pain for your race! Glad you got to the hotel ok.
After a hard couple of days, I needed a chill day. So just 4 TM miles after work.

I decided to do a 10k running coach programme on my Garmin watch, with coach Greg. I've chosen a cutoff time for the 10k that I'll never reach. But it's the slowest possible 😅 Anyway, today was a benchmark run to start the programme.
Hey, good for you. My first couple of Garmin Coach plans were with Coach Greg, then I did a couple with Garmin Coach Amy. And for their third and final coach, I just started a plan with Garmin Coach Jeff Galloway.
I have the same brilliant idea with my half marathon plan, the slowest goal time they will allow and just try to hang on.
So far Coach Greg was my favorite, I used to have easy access to a track and a lot of his workouts were fun.7 -

We're having a couple days with nice blasts of warmth, then it gets a bit crisp at sunset.
It feels good to be back running.
December Running Goal: 14 runs, 50 miles- Dec 1 - 1.66 miles
- Dec 3 - 7.36 miles
- Dec 6 - 4.25 miles

@quilteryoyo the race is a Backyard Ultra. There is a 6.7km loop, and a new start every hour. So you have 60 minutes to complete the loop, do whatever you need to do and be back on the line to start again or drop out. Last man standing, everyone else gets a DNF when they drop out.6

Thanks a lot @quilteryoyo I've done this before and it's a really nifty feature of more expensive garmin watches. On Friday I'll have a 30 minute run (with target pace, but probably a bit too fast for me currently) and on Sunday a 40 minute run. Monday will give me stride repeats (basically mini intervals) and Wednesday is my long run. Have not seen more of it as of now.4 -
Morning everyone!
Got in 5 (at 09"20 pace).
Have a nice day all!
@quilteryoyo love the pic! Drive must've tired him out5 -
Officially Christmas now....
Off the mark with my annual Mince pies!
There are some with an almond-y frangipane top... Which I need to eat.
Love almond/almond flavour!8 -
December Goal: 130 Miles
12/1: 3.30 miles
12/3: 10.10 miles
12/5: 6.31 miles
12/6: 6.31 miles
12/7: 6.04 miles
32.06/130 miles completed for December
It was 50°F this morning. I ran 6 miles in shorts and a t-shirt. I was a little chilly because it was kind of windy and I kind of wished I had worn my gloves, but other than that I was fine. It was a nice enough run, but my heart was heavy today. We are taking our 16 year old miniature pinscher to the vet for the last time today. We probably should have taken her a couple of weeks ago. She is just really declining and having a lot of trouble getting up and down and now is having continence problems. I think she is ready to go, but my husband and I are not really ready for it.

@kgirlhart so very sorry to hear about your pup…. This type of decision is always so difficult. ((Hugs))2

@kgirlhart very sorry about dog 😢 I feel for you!!! Putting both my labs down (15 years apart) was one of the saddest days of my life.3

Great weather and nice run. Snow of the previous week is gone now and the road was dry. Perfect. This was not part of my Garmin coach programme but just a run I did for the sake of it.4 -
