Off the mark with my annual Mince pies!
There are some with an almond-y frangipane top... Which I need to eat.
Love almond/almond flavour!
I need to see if I can find those here. Certainly some international shop should have them right? Maybe even Amazon??1 -
@kgirlhart - I am so sorry about your pup! It is such a hard decision and our hearts don't want to let go. I have sat on the floor at the vet office crying, with too many pups in my arms, after making that decision so they wouldn't suffer any longer.
One of my biggest worries is about losing Hobbes as he gets older.8 -
I got in a 3-mile run at lunch today. It was sunny and 43F but there was a cold wind blowing.
Sorry about your fur baby @kgirlhart.
@eleanorhawkins - hope your troubles have calmed down. I've done a 5K race that runs every hour on the hour for 10 hours but you are doing a longer distance. Are you planning to stop at 8 loops or go until you drop?
@polskagirl01 - prayers that your travels have ironed themselves out and the family emergency is better.
Glad you and Tippy made it to NC safely @quilteryoyo. Was the snow at Sam's Gap?
Congrats on getting into the Berlin marathon @Laurz9191! You will do fabulous!
I got a good laugh at your birthday math skills @Scott6255!
Great running everyone! Love to hear about your training plans and progress!4 -
I have missed a couple of days and am way behind reading the posts. Golly, that's a surprise.
I will try to keep up.
12/1 - 3 Miles. Field House. 93-day streak.
12/2 - 1 Mile. Field House.
12/3 - 2.09 Miles. Lakefront park. Foggy, 39F.
12/4 - 1.23 Miles. Lakefront park. Light rain, 40F.
12/5 - 1 Mile. Field House.
12/6 - 2.72 Miles. Field House.
12/7 - 1 Mile. Field House. - 99-day streak.4 -
I'm glad you are enjoying running again @chris_in_cal !
That sounds like an interesting race @eleanorhawkins . I'm not sure I would be very motivated with a race that only one person gets to complete. LOL
@tarun_yadavA I don't know about Tippy, but it did tire me out. You continue to have great runs! Enjoy all of your festivities and food.
Hugs @kgirlhart I know that is going to be so hard to do.
Nice running @Teresa502 , esp in the cold wind. I just can't do that. I'm not sure where the snow was. All I know is that I was at the NC welcome center. If you are looking at the parking lot it was at about 2 0'clock. Does that tell you anything?
Nice running everyone.

Tippy and I walked over to the beach after we got into the place where I am staying. It was a nice, cool day today.
Tippy at the beach. It's so hard to get her to look at the camera.
Nice clear day in FL.
Upcoming race: T-10 miler on Dec 97 -
@martaindale that's a good endorsement for the Mach 5s. Three pair already? How many miles did you get out of them?
My first pair is almost done and has a little over 300 miles on them. I can tell the cushion is wearing out but they still have some short runs left in them. That's pretty good for me.4 -
@kgirlhart So sorry to hear about your dog. It's such a hard call to make.0

@kgirlhart so sorry about your pup, that's so hard
Travel update: I made it to family safely last night. The rebooked flights came through Washington, DC, so someone just came and picked me up there (3 hr drive) as it was faster than waiting for the flight to Pittsburgh. My bag didn't go where it was supposed to, but I'm hoping they deliver it to me in a timely fashion. The family emergency is my Dad's sudden death. Getting picked up in DC meant that they were able to wait for me to get there before ending the private family viewing time last night. Funeral is today.
Health-wise, I should not be traveling. All of this sucks. I'll try be more positive another time.12 -
@kgirlhart hugs, it's so hard to let them go.@eleanorhawkins - hope your troubles have calmed down. I've done a 5K race that runs every hour on the hour for 10 hours but you are doing a longer distance. Are you planning to stop at 8 loops or go until you drop?

First day of my Garmin coach 10k programme: 30 minutes relaxed running. Stayed within the given pace and managed to run 30 minutes without walking. Well.. kind of. Some utter bellend threw a cable of sorts onto the sidewalk and I got stuck and fell onto my nose. Ouchie. But first run of this programme done.8 -
@polskagirl01 so sorry :-( glad you managed to get there ok.0

@yirara i think we need a photo to understand all this?

Hahaha! I basically slipped with a cheese slicer while removing the rind and cut into the palm of my hand right above the wrist yesterday. Today I fell and fell onto exactly the same spot.4

Thanks @tarun_yadavA . Great running. Enjoy your outing tonight.
@polskagirl01 I'm so sorry to hear of your dad's sudden passing. Big hugs to you. I'm glad you made it in time for the end of the family viewing. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
@yirara Great running, but so sorry you got tripped and fell. I'm glad you are okay. Gotta be careful of those cheese slicers too.

I did packet pick up as soon as it opened today. There weren't as many people there as there were last year. I think everyone showed up at once last year and some decided to wait this time. I'm glad I went when I did though, because I got to see them bringing the SpaceX Stage 1 Rocket back to the base after a launch in the wee hours of Thursday morning. I think it is amazing that they figured out how to get it to land back on earth so it can be reused.
It's scorched, but in one piece, it appears.
I did a wog after I got home, so at about 12:30 pm. It was a bit humid, but the temperature wasn't bad at 72F (22.2C) and cloudy. I had a little bit of trouble breathing (forgot my inhaler at home), but my legs felt good. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Thanks to all who wished me luck. I did ask about a site to track runners and they said they didn't have anything set up, so I guess you'll just have to wait until I get a chance to post - of course, those on Strava will be able to see it when I finish. Last year I finished in 2hr14min28s and 10.11 miles, according to Garmin. I don't recall my official time. Anyway, I'm hoping to beat that, but will try to be happy with just finishing.
Edited to add that Flat Vicky is ready to go.
I was sitting on the couch, typing up my posts when I heard a noise. I looked over and saw this. Thought you would get a kick out of it.
I hope that is comfortable, Tippy.
