Found out yesterday my BFF has Covid. She started feeling sick on Sat., and we spent a few hours together knitting on Fri. She was vaccinated , but hadnβt yet gotten this fallβs booster addressing new strains. π’ Iβm vaccinated and boosted, so hopefully Iβll be ok. Someone sitting across from her at the party last Wed. wasnβt feeling well so we suspect thatβs where she got it. Why do people go to events when theyβre sick? Yeesh. Anyway, I guess Iβll be a homebody for a few days so I donβt pass anything on. Thatβs ok. I need to do some serious cleaning, and I finished knitting a sweater last night so need to finish and wash it and DHβs Christmas sweater. Iβll be hiding in my office for that one! π Iβm still not weighing or tracking, and I think Iβm doing ok. This break is giving me time to really think about what I want to keep in my food world and what I want to let go. I feel way too heavy, but with this little break, I also feel a bit more hopeful about a new start and better results.
12/19 - π³
I βunofficiallyβ weighed myself this morning. Iβm not reporting the results here, but as I suspected, Iβm too heavy. Itβs ok, though, since Iβm on my little break. I just wanted a little feedback. Iβve been thinking a lot about what changes Iβll make when I get back at it. As Iβve mentioned, DH does a lot of the cooking here and is a big pasta fan, but I know itβs not great for me, so Iβm going to stock up on proteins I can make for myself when heβs having pasta pasta pasta (unless I can have mine with lentil pasta). Also going to limit my bread to 2 thin-sliced pieces a day. I do like sandwiches for lunch. Iβm going to focus on non-starchy veggies and lean proteins, and a semi-Mediterranean plan. But not yet. After Christmas. If I try to start to limit things now, Iβll fail, and that wonβt help me stick to anything except more of the same. So this is my little in-between reset window. On other fronts (though, I believe, related to my eating), I did a lot of cleaning yesterday and finished the sweater I was working on. I hope you donβt mind, but Iβm sharing this one, too, because I love the beautiful tweedy yarn!
12/20 - DNW
Something is happening with this little reset period of mineβ¦Iβve been sleeping embarrassingly late the past few months, but this morning I popped up, not early, but 90 minutes earlier than I have been dragging myself out of bed. Thatβs one of my goals going forwardβget up earlier and write for a couple of hours. I used to write almost every morning from 6 to 10:30ish, 1,000 words a day. I havenβt written seriously in wayyyyy too long. I feel better when Iβm writing. I eat better and exercise more. And Iβve realized that the gap not writing has created in my life may be the one Iβm filling with food. Hey, maybe thereβs an essay in thisβ¦.. π
12/21 - DNW
Happy Solstice, all! For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, the light will be returning after tonight, the thought of which makes winter bearable for me. π I mentioned yesterday a feeling that Iβm turning a corner of some sort during this little break Iβm taking. More evidenceβ¦I baked shortbread cookies on Tuesday, revisiting my Scottish mamaβs recipe. I love shortbread, but Iβve eaten only two of them. Usually I have trouble keeping my hands out of the cookie jar! And I was thinking of baking a cake, but suddenly feel completely uninterested in sugary things. So Iβve decided that the only thing Iβll bake for Christmas will be a mincemeat pie (which has no meat). I FINALLY feel ready to drop these obnoxious pounds Iβve put (back) on since 2019. Yay!

Thrilled to be in my fourth Round. I haven't been this long in an eating routine in many years. Not sure why this is working for me. I know that Carbs are my weak point, so I have designed an eating plan that avoids or minimizes them. I try to shop for my plan daily at the same time. Holidays treats surround me. I am avoiding the places that will get me in trouble (staff lounge). This round I am adding water and tracking it. I may be a little dehydrated. Let's find out. Nothing changes if nothing changes.

After that, pray for me π I am planning to do the same as Thanksgiving and have a non-traditional meal that won't be hanging around the house for days. I'm not terribly worried about having some extra calories around the holidays and am pretty confident i will meet my HealthyWage goal, although the timing of the end of the challenge is raising the stakes a little.
12/19: Ok but why did the scale say 265 today? I'm keeping on keeping on but I really need the scale to go in the other direction, please.

Yesterday: π―lazy day. β macros & 1438 cal.
Today: πͺπ»πΆββοΈπ€ΈπΌποΈββοΈ
Iβm up a little because Iβm off routine. Ok. Rational. Last night I decided to start fast @ 6pm. I felt terrific after that last fast and spent some time researching last night as to what happens to your body at 24, 48, and 72hrs - planning for 72. Pumped! Water, black coffee, electrolytes and grass-fed beef bone broth. πͺπ»

Woke up at 3:50! ππ³ Good Morning! Yes, scale is less but was expected. Iβm fasting to reset ketosis & recharge /reboot. Iβm hoping 130 will one day be my lean & mean ceiling!βΊοΈ
Because I spontaneously opted to fast, I also opted to remain sedentary yesterday. I did end up doing a lot of work around the house. I only counted πΆββοΈ. After 6 PM, (24hrs) I had 2 cups of bone broth over a couple of hours, drank tons of water & electrolytes.
Going on 36 hrs as I write this β¦ I feel really good this morn. No hunger pains yesterday, (because I kept drinkingβ¦ ) And I was super busy. I had tons of energy. No headaches. Peed all day. π. Hoping it goes as well today.
I had another business meeting yesterday β¦ Iβve been approached to take on a hefty project (in my profession). Yesterday was my third meeting in 10 days, and Iβm strongly considering saying yesβ¦ With each day that passes, Iβm becoming a little more excited about the opportunity. Ill have the flexibility to continue to pick up DS from school, as well as play πΎ in the morning a few days a weekβ¦ and will also figure out how to πΆββοΈ&ποΈββοΈπ€ΈπΌon a regular basis. The project would last six monthsβ¦ Itβs actually too good to be true. So we will see! Itβs been five years since retiring β¦ would certainly be a wild & adventures ride cuzz I feel quite unprepared. We will meet once more after the holidays to solidify any arrangement β¦ π€π»!
Today: πΎ πΆββοΈand some π€ΈπΌ - letβs see! Not sure about stamina but will try. I can always stop. βll be fine this morning but Iβm prepared for a little waiver-ing between noon and 2pmβ¦. πͺπ»
Note: TBH, For some reason, fasting is easier for me than I thought it would be. This is only my second go round. I find it much easier to just say no then it is to plan food/figure out what to eatβ¦. Itβs a competition with myself. Once I did the research & learned of the long list of positive benefitsβ¦ It was a no-brainer for me personally. I once truly believed fasting was for WHACKOS π. Really! Isnβt that horrible? Itβs not for everyone butβ¦ If youβre thinking about it, I encourage you to read up!
12/20 βοΈ 128.4
Yesterday: β macros & 80 cal, πΆββοΈ8.2k, 122 ex min, 1284 ex cal π₯, πZ2 18 min, included some ποΈββοΈ&π€ΈπΌ.
When I first started playing tennis, I could feel the effects of the fast with an elevated heart rate, but then I played through itβ¦ so I decided to take it easy on ST ποΈββοΈ. Fully wiped out when I got home. Nice visit with my DGS. Rested and vegged out the rest of the night.
βοΈ 128.4 Thatβs the fast and my body rebooting β¦ will prol be 129-130 tomorrow. After today, I have to really buckle down on
πΆββοΈπ€ΈπΌποΈββοΈ.
Fast: Boy, was I hungry yesterday! 2pm till bedβ¦. Drank electrolytes & bone broth. No headache. Feel great this morn. 12 more hours. Playing tennis today. Feeling like I have to take it easy, but I may have a burst of energy, so letβs see! Thurs, Fri& Sat will be jammed with cooking & holiday! Will definitely get in early πΆββοΈ. Some ποΈββοΈπ€ΈπΌ.
12/21 βοΈ 129.2
Yesterday: β macros & 1055 cal, πΆββοΈ6.2k, 103 ex min, 1022 ex cal π₯, πZ2 16min. π«ποΈββοΈπ€ΈπΌ
I playedπΎ singles (A big deal in itself, 65β¦ vs a 48-year-old youngster) & when over I decided not to pursue ποΈββοΈπ€ΈπΌ. My heart rate was up a good bit, so I thought it would be wise to limit any further activity, until FAST was completed.
I thought about food continuously from noon-3pm. I researched the difference between 48hr & 72hr fast and there is little difference⦠I had almost convinced myself to eat some scrambled eggs, but then I was running late to pick up my DGS from school. And because I was busy, I just decided what the heck just do 72 hrs. Goal accomplished!
π₯© &π₯π₯for dinner! YUM.
Today: Definitely πΆββοΈπ€ΈπΌποΈββοΈ. Eat lots of protein. Feel AWESOME. And yes, fasting is about your mind/will power. Itβs not all hunger.
β‘οΈThoughts
β‘οΈ Emotions
β‘οΈ Actions.
Stop negative thoughts (excuses & rationalizations) & winning becomes reality. I have a choice. Hard stuff matters.
(Confession, β¬οΈ this is an affirmation β¦ I must say it over & & over & OVER again for it to become real!)π
Setting a goal and completing the goal gives me BIG confidence. Iβll have a pep in my step today. π

In Aug 14, 2014 @ 157lbs (down 15 from heaviest of 172lbs in 2010), I decided to take control of my health. I lost 30lbs by 1/1/2015. Weight topped @ 128-132lbs through the end of 2020. Five years!
π’ Roller Coaster Beginsβ¦.
2020 through 2021, I fluctuated 132-140 lbs.
8/1/ 2022 crept up to 142lbs.
Dropped to 128lbs again by 9/30 then held 130lbs till 1/1/23.
2023 Back β¬οΈ 145lbs by July 15! 15lbs BOOM! Enjoyed eating & margaritas way too much! Ive always eaten healthy BUT portion control is/was a huge issue. Started tracking. Joined βJust give me 10 daysβ R231 in beginning of 8/2023. Here we are!
I learned MY choices created an emotional π’ roller coaster with yo-yo weight and fitness. My forever goal is to reach 130lbs as a ceiling. Pretty clear to me that once I reached a goal weight I would then relax/ drift backwards. So glad 145lbs was the max over the last nine years.
I also noticed that as I age it becomes much MUCH more difficult to lose weight. I could loose 15lbs easy in 6 to 8 weeks up to 2020ish β¦ This is absolutely not true anymore!!!!

I'm Julie. 35 years old. Married. SAHM to two year old twins.
SW RND 245: 135.6 (end of last round).
12/18: 136.1. Oops, not starting off in the right direction. I started baking the Christmas cookies. I may have sampled a few too many. I also didn't go to the gym because my husband worked late. I went for a short walk, but nothing big.
12/19: 139.1. Holiday eating has arrived. Baked more Christmas cookies. I know I didn't gain 3 pounds of fat over night. I'm not going to stress about it until after Christmas. I'll be up some, but no real damage I won't be able to undo in the next round.
12/20: 138.0. I felt kinda sick most of yesterday. Just did a short walk. Eating wasnt great. But that's okay for now.
12/21: 136.2.
12/22: 133.9. Oh wow, oh wow, oh wow! I was not expecting that woosh. While a happy surprise, I'm not taking my weight too seriously for this round. My only goal is to post here every day. I'll have to wait see where it ends up after all of the holiday meals.

12/22 - 153.5 - I'm starting to figure out low carb a little too well. I was under goal (26g net, goal is 30g net max) but over calories for the day. According to MFP I was 300 calories over while my net carb tracker has me at 150 calories over (exercise included). While that still may be a deficit, I need to be careful of it! Today I'll be running 2.5 miles for an assessment in my 10k training app. It's been a long while since I've ran over 2 miles continuously on this app so we'll see how it goes. BF and the boys leave about 9-10am this morning to swap kids for next week. He and the younger two won't be home until about dinner time tomorrow night so I'm on my own. He's not trying to do low carb while traveling which I get. We shifted our next low carb day to Sunday for him. Since I'm home and on my own (minus dogs) I'm going to aim for lower carb - hoping to keep under 50 today and under 100 tomorrow. Tomorrow's dinner is a big carb heavy request so I'm giving myself a bit more of a window due to that. The next big splurge is a blueberry lemon "cinnamon roll" for breakfast Christmas morning for the kids. I've never made it so I have to try it - I'm trying to offset that early this weekend!

Previous Day's Comments12/18 - Had a giant jump up due to salt and water retention yesterday for my round end weight. Quite alright since it was also normal eating day Saturday and we had Fam over. Haven't seen them in nearly a month and won't see them again until the New Year. Oof! It was nice to see them though and I'll accept the weight from that little get together. Yesterday was a low carb day and I obviously dropped right back down. Today is normal eating day with a run planned once it gets light enough. Hoping to keep mindful and intuitive about my eating choices. I can see changes in normal eating habits happening already so that's really good (: I need to lower my "normal" eating day carb intake in general anyway. Also need to slim down my portions, I certainly eat too large of portions more often than not. Here's to continuing this journey with all of you!
12/19 - I stayed stagnant after a "normal" eating day! Whoohoo! I was, honestly, trying to be mindful of my eating and did really well until I had to unexpectedly work late. I was late coming to the dinner table to eat and grabbed a soda to help wash food down rather than taking the extra time to refill my water bottle. Oh well. I think I ended up only drinking 1/4 of the soda and poured the rest out so I could have herbal tea instead once I finished up with work. I ended up at 120 carbs for the day. I was hoping to stay under 100 but that soda did me in. Plus BF (who had to cook sides - usually my job) had corn and mashed potatoes as sides - carb loading much? Today I'm going to try for a quick strength workout - probably just bodyweight like pushups and squats, planks and lunges. I'll walk the dogs. Thinking of walking them over lunch like I did yesterday. It was much nicer out (read: warmer and sunnier) and it was a very much needed mental break from work. We shall see how today goes, work-wise. Club sandwich on lettuce for lunch, keto white chicken enchiladas for Taco Tuesday dinner. Breakfast I'm thinking I'll make a ham, egg, cheese sandwich on lettuce if I need to eat before lunch.
12/20 - I'm calling that maintenance. Although I was hoping to see another drop after a low carb day, I'm happy with that. Getting out of bed this morning I nearly fell - my legs are super sore! I guess my strength workout (which didn't feel terribly challenging at the time) was more impactful than I realized for my muscles. Dinner was also full of dairy and I forgot to take my lactose pills. Between the soreness and dairy, I'm surprised I'm not up! Hopefully that means, if I behave today, I'll see a drop in the coming days. Today's run is 10 min jog warmup then 5 rounds of strides (30 second increasing speed run, 1.5 min walk). Still have some beef stew I thawed out for lunch and dinner is homemade Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. Still keeping an eye on carbs - "normal" days I'm still aiming for around 100g but under 150g net so I don't go overboard. As long as I keep snacking under control, I should meet that goal. I was at 120g net carbs on Monday and that involved a lot of boredom snacking.
12/21 - No hugs needed - carb day jump. Also probably wine. I woke up to a wine headache even with just one glass. Sometimes wine really hits me hard (like last night/today) and sometimes it doesn't. I got unlucky this time around. Water was at 80oz and I drank it with dinner so not on an empty stomach. Oh well. Still very sore in my legs/glutes from Tuesday's strength workout. It is raining right now so I may walk on my walking pad and plan to take the dogs before lunch since it's supposed to rain again right around the end of lunchtime. Low carb day so I'll be making both BF and I lunch and I'd rather go BEFORE so I don't accidentally end up in the rain haha

DH wanted 50 homemade cinnamon rolls for Wed. and dessert for 20 yesterday. I had to tell him NO, I was not making cinnamon rolls and that I would do the dessert but only half of it was going to be cookies and fudge and the other half would be something I could make in a 13/9 and send with him. 12/20 -179.2- (Trend weight 179.7)
12/21 -178.8- (Trend weight 179.6) I had such a good day yesterday that I thought the scale would be down a bit more than what it is. Then I remembered my indulgences this past week and I know it can take a couple of days to catch up, so this weight is probably fair. I need to start baking soon but I know Iβm not strong enough to stay away from sugar. I cheat that right now by not having it in the house and minimizing access to it. Otherwise, Iβve learned nothing. Wellβ¦.maybe Iβve learned things, I know the disadvantages of sugar, especially as a T2D. But none of that seems to matter when I suddenly have it in front of me. I suppose it could be worse than cookies and fudge. It could be donuts, my #1 weakness. The only thing better than a donut is a kringle and I donβt have access to those in my little rural town. I have to travel for that.
12/22 -178.8- (Trend weight 179.5) It was a horrible eating day yesterday. Most of my meals were okay (I was on the higher calorie/carb day of zig-zag) so all was well until snack time. Off the charts, my friends! I stepped on both of my scales today to make sure that I did stay exactly the same as yesterday because it is almost impossible! Iβm fearful it will show up tomorrow or the next day. I jumped on the exercise bike to offset the calories a bit last night after the handyman left, but we all know that you cannot outrun the fork. Even if the scale stays even, Iβm not getting anywhere like this, oh, what it is doing to my blood glucose levels! Get a grip Donna! Today I will zig-zag to an extra low calorie and low carb day to offset a bit. Iβll fit some more exercise in when my handyman leaves tonight if I can, but my daughter and DGS will be arriving this evening to stay the weekend again. Sheβs the foodie!

12/18 - DNW
Yay!
12/22 - πDNW
Itβs my birthday, so per our tradition, DH is taking me βoutβ for late lunch/dinner (although weβll likely get carry out, which is fine with me). Iβm trying to decide what I want. At the moment nothing sounds very enticing, but by 1 oβclock Iβm sure something will. Otherwise, nothing much planned other than a walk, some reading, and some knitting!

My round 3!
5'9 F
I'm starting to learn that my loss will be quite slow. For reference, my senior year of HS I went from 185 to ~165 in about 3 months. I wasn't working out at the time so it was all diet. I maintained this weight +/- a few pounds during college just due to the amount of walking required daily (easily 12k+).
After graduating I've fluctuated a bit, but starting senior year of college I became very consistent at the gym doing weights. 5+ years later I've now gained a lot more muscle so naturally my weight has increased. My 185 now looks a lot different than 10 years ago, but I could still stand to lose some excess fat.
It seems to be a much slower journey and I'm not really sure what my end goal weight should be exactly, but I think these 10 day rounds help me accept the small wins and focus on the journey instead of hoping for a big loss like 20lbs again (which may or may not happen)

Not gonna lie the jump up was super frustrating although I knew it came from the quick food we grabbed while we were driving a ways to meet up with family. Yesterday still wasn't great, but I limited the amount of heavy/sugary foods. I'm surprised by this drop and expect it to come up in the next few days.

65 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 245 (my 175th). Thank you @quiltingjaine for the new round, as always, so grateful.
Goals for this round to, stay strong over the festive period, holiday abroad (20 days!).Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, itβs taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.

12/18 141- went to see Santa with little DGDs in Dudley Tunnels, had lunch there, didn't choose 100% wisely, but was full for the rest of the day so only fruit later.
12/19 140.6 β 8.14 miles walked, 45% of exercise calories eaten back.
12/20 138.8 β pleased to see this number, it was our Christmas lunch yesterday for my DSs & a couple of FF, a real lovely girlie festive time. We all had a carvery choice was large, medium, or small; my NSV I chose small and was very selective with my veggies, had a glass of wine instead of a sweet, felt really satisfied. Only ate fruit in the evening, didnβt need anything else. 6.56 miles walked, all exercises calories plus 346 eaten.
12/21 140.4 β 10.85 miles yesterday, 80% exercise calories eaten back.
12/22 140.4 β no structured walking as child minding little DGS.

I'll join. I'll take any form of motivation I can get. I noticed I'm great at starting these challenges and I'm awful at finishing them. I just forget about them after a while and fall back into bad habits, especially during the holidays.π»ππ I have to get my head back in the game. I was losing when I was keeping track and now I'm gaining again. π±
I've been keeping track of my weight but I haven't been watching what I eat or exercising. I need to work on that area.
Originally, I wanted to get down to 330 by the end of December. Of course, this was back in October when there was a chance. lol. Now, I would settle for 340, but that's a big ask too. We'll see. π€·ββοΈ
My highest weight ever: 373lbs.
My current weight: 346.8lbs.
My short-term goal: 330lbs
12/18 349.0
( This was right after I had a surgical procedure, so I could have had some weight gain from that possibly??? )

Just trying to be healthy. Weight loss is an extra bonus.
Eventual weight goal = 164
12/18 - 174.8. I can't believe we're even posting on a weight loss site on Christmas week! I'm gonna treat myself to one full cupcake, donut, big cookie, or ? As soon as I decide which one. Other than that, my Christmas extras will be mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, lots of French fried onions straight from the bag while I'm making the green bean casserole. Hopefully I won't backslide much. Just 10 more pounds. I know I can. I know I can.
12/19 - 174.4 ate well, slightly over goal, no walk, slept 8+hours
12/20 - 176.4 had my Xmas treat. Braum's sundae. π΄. No walk,too cold
12/21 - 174 ate Γ²k, too much fruit, good for this time of year. Slept well. Too cold to walk.
12/22 - 173.6 ate pretty well. Slept pretty well. Walked.
Don't wait until you reach your goal to be proud of yourself. Be proud of every step you take towards reaching that goal. β Unknown
