Today is: Anyone here decorate with radishes?

Annie, dear heart, thank you for some perspective, yanking me out of my cranky morning. I'm sorry the preacher had different ideas and futzed up your carefully laid plans. Remember your anger comes from a well that's far deeper than just his cack-handed pot-stirring. Anger is by far the safest emotion when you're grieving and tired because it's clean and it burns--all the other emotions lead back to grief and tears. Just hold on to the fact that no one will remember the details of all this, they'll just remember being there to say goodbye to your mom. Do it your way. Hang in there, my friend... all the hugs in the world coming your way.
Carol - I'm so sorry... This is your husband's brother, I think? Many condolences to the whole family.
Allie - You were right about that hematoma looking bad. Sorry Kyle is being... himself again. Hope it ends up a good Christmas. I will say that, even as much as I loved her, I stayed away from my mother's at the holidays whenever I possibly could. There were always fights between the extended family members; they never could keep it together for even a few hours. When I was there, I was a target--one sister-in-law told me at the top of her lungs that I couldn't listen to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, as they were idol-worshiping heathens. Loving people and wanting to be around them at the holidays just don't always go together. You won't be alone, we'll be here... and I'm sending a msg to you on FB with my cellphone number. Don't hesitate to call any time this weekend. When I go to bed, I don't take the phone, so don't worry that you'll wake me--I'll call you back when I wake. Love the new haircut by the way!
Lanette - Some of these you may have already indulged in: All the Midsomer Murders, McDonald & Dodds (I spent a lot of time in Bath, so I loved the location scenes), Father Brown. Not mysteries, but much loved are all the later QIs with Sandy Toksvig; The Vicar of Dibley (which I LOVED), absolutely anything that Lucy Worsley narrates - mostly history/mystery/documentaries; and The Repair Shop. These are just some of my top favorites. What else have you enjoyed?
Already rustled around making a number of the finger foods, last one that I'm going to play with this morning just finished in the oven, cooling now. Was on my feet too long, but a bit of rest should set me right.
Love y'all,
Lisa5 -
Lisa - yes, I've watched all the Midsomer Murders, McDonald & Dodds, Father Browns. Have you seen the original Father Browns filmed in 1974 when you were a young'un? Britbox has 'em.
Shakespeare & Hathaway is a fun detective series.
I'll add The Vicar of Dibley to my list. I watched The Repair Shop a while ago, it was fun to see what folks brought in and what a good job the crew did getting them fixed up.

Allie. That looks so sore, but you look very cute. Your shirt is very festive.

Carol, deepest condolences, may your brother in law rest in peace.
Annie, I’m stunned that the minister had the audacity to go behind your back and manipulate your dad into changing the plans you had already made, that is most certainly not his job! He is supposed to offer comfort not make things more difficult. Hugs, hugs and more hugs!
Allie, I hope that Kyle settled down enough so that you could enjoy your day with the family. I can understand why Carmine had to get out of there, and while I’m sure she didn’t make it any easier, this is how she was taught to act. This is, of course, my opinion and, as Lisa would say, worth exactly what you paid for it, but I’m sure the same thought has popped into your head. Pretty colours on your chest, sure glad it doesn’t hurt much!
Lisa, love the lamp that Corey got you! You’re right, aside from letting Egg in the bedroom, he is a keeper!
Today is baking day! Doing tarts (pumpkin, pecan and butter (with currants)) and another dessert as hubby isn’t keen on the tarts but the rest of us like them. I won’t make huge amounts so some will be frozen. We’re doing Christmas tomorrow. Our daughter in laws family alternates Christmas home and away. Home means their family is together Christmas Day. It’s a system I can work with, we had them on the 25th last year and will again next year. I like to choose the 24th so that the grands are a little more rested. They have a larger family, so there’s cousins and aunts and uncles and there is talk of a sleepover…… there will be no sleep and the kids will be cranky, better they are chilling at their house rather than having to be behaving at ours. That’s not just the little kids either…. lol.
Wishing all who celebrate a Christmas that is all you hope it will be, wishing those who don’t celebrate everything that you wish this week to be!

Evie and Tracey and anyone else celebrating tomorrow... Enjoy your Christmas Eve celebrations! Many happy returns of the season to you and those you love.6

Lanette, oh my stars and whiskers, you are in for such a treat with the Vicar of Dibley. Please consider that one my Christmas gift to you. I've watched the entire series at least three times, and that's not something I do often, if at all. Enjoy!3

Last night Vince and Jess kept on “why didn’t you take the day off from work”? So I went in early, was home by 9:15. Here it is 10:30 and Jess is just now mailing christmas gifts. Really…. Lanette – are you this bad??? Colby said something about going shopping. Personally, I have the table set already, the butter out to soften (glad butter can stay out of the refrigerator for even days)
Pip – you and Kirby look so great together. I especially like the pic of the dogie under the tree
Tracey – my grandmother used to make the best crusciki. Since she passed, try as I might, I just can’t make them the way she did. Of course, her way of cooking was “you put enough (whatever) in until the dough looks right (or feels right). I just told Vince that he’ll have to live with the memory. Lovely stockings
Annie – what a mess! I am surprised that the minister went behind your back, but guess I’m wrong But you should somehow let him know how you feel so he doesn’t do this to someone else.
Allie -You mean Carmine won’t even see her parents? This must be killing Tracey
Margaret – many many years ago there was a store in NYC that was selling the tribbles that were used in the show.
Carol – I am so very sorry about your BIL
Yesterday when I was at Sam's I think I cut in line ahead of people. Someone said something to me and I said "no, I was behind you. Besides, I only have this one item". Oh well....I was certainly not long at that checkout.

Carol - so sorry about your BIL. Peace to all.
Annie - I would be angry too. All of that planning is stressful enough without him complicating matters and the fact that he pressured your dad is just wrong.
Loving all the pictures. Wishing all who celebrate whenever they celebrate a wonderful time. DD and I celebrated with family at Thanksgiving so this weekend will be a quiet celebration with just the 2 of us. The children at church will do their pageant during the morning service and the choir will sing for the evening service. Going to try out the new air fryer for Christmas dinner.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA10 -

more drama with MIL/DH-so tired of it. I know he is beyond tired of all of it and wants it to end but he won't listen to any suggestions I try to give- they are all wrong. He is doing this all by himself and it is just too much......Ready to smash things because they are his and he can do it if he wants, only thing he can control. The yelling/cussing/etc out in the garage with the door open. Surprised the neighbors didn't call the police on him.I have told him before he needs to go get some psych help- He even said he hopes they find he has cancer when they do his colonoscopy- or that he might drive off a cliff or that I need to take his guns out of the house because he doesn't feel safe having them here. Same things he has been saying for the past year and a half. A little pity party because he doesn't know what he will eat tomorrow night or Monday morning because I won't be there. I am NOT skipping Christmas with my mom to sit here at the house while he sits in his room, only coming out to complain about going to his mothers and I am NOT going over there Christmas day for lunch. I will go over when I get home from my mom's on Christmas afternoon- we will be home around 4 to go over there.
I missed Christmas last year because I was laid up from surgery. Son and his girlfriend are going up with me- they haven't been up there in a long time. Girlfriend will most likely have to stay here at our house after we get back- MIL doesn't want her at her house.
The two of them have ruined so many holidays. I used to love Christmas- my favorite holiday. Now, I am just ready for it to be over.
At least I will be with mom-
More drama there between younger sister and mom so who knows how that will go.
I will cook for all of us and then rush home to go to MIL's.
Michelle- DH has at least one or two of the original tribbles too. He is a huge Star Trek fan. We have a few original prints by one of the artist that did some for the show.
Annie- all the suggestions you have received are good. Talk to the minister- let him know you are going back to YOUR plans. I understand he is worried about a mess left after the service if it is at the church but assure him it will be cleaned up. Mom deals with that at their church- many leave messes and she is stuck cleaning up their mess. She was even stuck helping clean up after her own birthday party. The room mate and neighbor were the one that started planning the party but when it came to doing any work- they weren't there. Mom, my sister and I and one friend did all the clean up. Took us 3 hrs to do all of it.

Allie ~ Great family photos. So glad you had a good day together!
Carol in GA1 -
Carol Hugs to you and your family.
Annie The other ladies have said it all. I too am pissed on your behalf. You do what is best for you and your family. Hugs continue.
It seems to me that so many people pass at Christmas.
Our mechanic told a lady Merry Christmas yesterday. She told him that it was Happy Holidays. His reply.....Happy Hanukkah. Lol! Seriously people.... If someone said Happy Hanukkah to me, I would simply say Happy Hanukka back. No I am not Jewish, but IMHO, it is a blessing no matter what the holiday. We had 3 customers and one phone call. Closed at noon.
Golf cart is decorated. Picked up gift card for grandson's girlfriend who is joining us this evening. It is wrapped. This seems so strange to me....gifts wrapped, saran wrap balls done, ready for Christmas two days early. Hillbilly parade at 515 this evening. Followed by quick meet and greet with neighbors, then back to our house for chili and presents. The only task for tomorrow is to make two cheesecakes for Monday. Wow!
Thinking of you all with gratefulness!
Have an awesome weekend weather celebrating with large gatherings or small family.

Merry Christmas from Kylia in rainy Ohio thankful it isn't snow!7 -
Im in my jammies, not the new ones and watching hallmark movies..,
I hope all goes well for everyone over the next few days, holidays can be rough..
Wishing you all the best and love you all!!5 -
Lanette, Lisa is so right, you will LOVE the Vicar of Dibley! I have also watched it multiple times, it doesn’t get old, lol.
Another Brit show that I’ve discovered is called Pie in the Sky, gentle murder mystery with some lighter moments.
Baking is mostly done, had to take a food break. I was taking the butter tarts out of the pan and one fell over onto its face so it had to be eaten. I needed to eat one for quality control anyway so…….two birds, one stone. lol And yes, they turned out good!
Allie, I have a question or concern or something…. While I think it’s nice that Tom the next day to check on your injuries, I have to wonder why he didn’t come out and help you when you fell. Or even better why one, or both, of them didn’t help you out to the car to start with. As you said, you did have your hands full with Alfie and the basket, it would have been a nice gesture on their part. Just my brain with too much time on its hands, thinking far too much!
