Hi, Not on computer much since I went back to work. I also got my decorations put away. Having trouble keeping a diary of food, I might start just jotting it down in a note book instead of try to log it here. It truly is stopping me from eating things I shouldn't because I know I will need to log it.

@trooworld I also seen the bariatric surgeon a few years back, got approved but couldn't take the time off for all the appointments I chocked it up to everything happens for a reason. I'm now 30lbs heavier then I was at that time. I wonder if I had the surgery what I might look like now.

Weigh in tomorrow. I hope I lost something.

Evening guys, sorry on here late. It's been a day. I got the Christmas stuff put away, house cleaned and hopefully disinfected as much as possible, washed bedding, clothes, stuffed animals. I am ready to be sickness free. No exercises for me, eating wasn't the best as well. I just ate PB and a cup of ice cream for dinner. Family had pizza and I don't eat that.

@trooworld good for you for pretracking and are okay with your choices. I agree, they were healthy choices..could have been chocolate fudge..LOL

@theslightedgeforever I am the most layered person in my home..LOL. I just an always cold and the 2nd go around of sick, I think came from my little friend from Alaska...LOL

@fabgeekmom I don't eat pork, makes me retain water..but it sounded good, however, I am like your DH..I would leave at the cayenne pepper LOL

@gemwolf110 I saw that plan, I might go back and check it out.

Can’t believe it’s already Friday! I’ve tracked most days this week! Unfortunately, I went over all of the daily nutrient goals so that’s something I need to work on. But tracking is definitely a good first step. Didn’t get my exercise in this week. Got a chunk of my schoolwork done at least. 2 of 3 assignments completed and submitted. Whoohoo.

Weekend is looking to be good. Busy Saturday and Sunday might be just relaxing or continuing work on organizing the house. Goal is to have it ready to go if I’m in the position to sell in a few years and buy a house in the country. Hindsight I should have bought a house in the country originally but wasn’t thinking. Live and learn right?

Hope everyone has a fantastic Friday!

@theslightedgeforever It was! Here's the recipe, keep in mind it is originally a Paleo and Whole30 recipe: http://www.paleorunningmomma.com/sausage-stuffed-acorn-squash-paleo-whole30/ Hopefully the challenge will have something to help you with portion control. I have a hard time with that as well. I hope you enjoyed your rest day.

@fabgeekmom Thank you! Which Milk Street cookbook is that from? I may have it. Those sound good. Great job with the bike!

@saybyebob Some people just take pics of the food before they eat it and log it later, I don't know if that would help you? That's good that it is stopping you from eating things you shouldn't. I wondered about all the appointments, so far, it's not bad. I have to see the nutritionist once a month. I have a psych eval which is a one-and-done deal. Both of those are over the phone. I don't feel like I have a choice: I've been trying to lose for 30 years now with nothing more than fleeting success. I wish you the best on your journey. Good luck with the weigh-in today!

@cbabie Sounds like you had a very busy day yesterday. Thanks, yes, it could have been chocolate fudge lol mmmm.

@gemwolf110 I'm GLAD it's Friday! That's great you tracked most days. I have, too. I also went over. Way to get those assignments done! Enjoy your day!

Hi all. I gained more weight this week: 0.8 lbs. Looking back at what I ate this week, I'm not that surprised. Speaking of eating, last night's recipe was really good. Here's a pic below.

    Water yesterday: 84 oz

@trooworld It’s The World in a Skillet. The recipe looked good. Probably filling as well. Too bad about the gain but looking back will be helpful. @gemwolf110 Good job on tracking and getting school work done. @saybyebob I find pre tracking helpful. @cbabie I hope sickness leaves your household. Hi, all. Last night I microwaved a meal I made before Christmas. It was the American goulash from Skinnytaste. Today is a swim day. Also our steak night. My milk frother broke so I ordered a new one. I’ll have to make do without one for a few days.

Morning all, I have been up most of the night with the baby. I am trying to be productive until I am sure I will need a nap, (won't ). LOL. I have my breakfast, I need to track. That's where to start. I am going to make a good effort to exercise today. I guess I am struggling with myself as I read something that makes me not care to push as hard...losing weight is 80% nutrition 20% exercise. LOL

@trooworld Sorry about your gain, I think you know what tweaks you need to make and you will do it. You are determined or you wouldn't have been trying all this time to change your habits.

@fabgeekmom We love goulash, I just have people that live here that won't eat left overs..weird because I raised them to eat leftovers. LOL

@gemwolf110 sounds like you have been very productive and focused on the things you need to get accomplished. good for you.

@cbabie @trooworld It is daunting to realize that exercise only contributes 20% to weight loss! What motivates me to exercise is more than weight loss. I just feel so much better when I get activity. I have arthritis and would hurt more if I didn’t exercise. Hi, all! Steak dinner was good. I roasted a spaghetti squash for our vegetable. I’ll have some for lunch with my sandwich, soup and yogurt. My cousin brought us homemade molasses cookies. I only ate one. I wanted a second one. Tonight we’re going to a Thai restaurant. I told my DH that this morning and he didn’t look happy. He can order the chicken pad Thai which is what he gets there. I want the tofu noodle soup. We cater to him most of the time.

@trooworld I read that article. I never counted potatoes as a vegetable but I do count winter squash as a vegetable.

@fabgeekmom I think I'll try your recipe tomorrow. I'll use ground chicken or turkey instead. I have everything else in the house. Plus buns. Yaaay on the bike.

@saybyebob Tracking is tracking no matter where it is. Whatever helps you lose weight the most to be healthy. Bariatric patients can gain back weight too. So you will never really know which way it would have went. It still requires behavior change I think.

@cbabie Walk me through your thinking of it's okay to eat PB and ice cream but not pizza. I'm thinking you might say well it makes me swell up. But then it's just water weight, right? What goes up must come down. But is it possible to gain weight from the PB and ice cream? Plus sugar that would contribute to pre-diabetes/diabetes. What if you told yourself I don't eat ice cream or I don't eat PB? Just trying to get you to see what a mindset change might be. I hope you have washed all the sickness out of your house. Exercise is good for strengthening bones as we age, helps us with mobility as we age, doing things around the house like carrying groceries or other things. It releases endorphins. So many things it does.

@gemwolf110 Woohoo on your tracking. You just reminded me I need to check in with that snakk steps challenge were are doing and see what the next tasks are. The house in the country sounds nice.

@trooworld Thank you for the recipe. Your food pic looks really good. Does your bariatric doc want you to keep gaining? What are the guidelines for this?

I attended an all-day webinar yesterday on goal setting. So I have mine all set up for the year then broken down into quarters, monthly, and weekly. :) All I need to focus on is the daily part and DO IT.

I walked the mall this morning. I had leftovers for lunch. Apple cauliflower salad and a white bean with peppers dish. I weighed in and lost 1.4 lbs. First week of 2024: success

@theslightedgeforever I was going to recommend ground turkey in place of the pork. Ground chicken would also work. You also can use fat free Greek yogurt to save calories.

Morning all, I woke up with a headache...{not a migraine) :) So I can't complain. LOL. I think it's from this stupid cough that I picked up. I didn't eat well again last night. I have to sit down and meal plan and make a list (checkin' it twice) LOL. I think I am moving my exercise "stuff" to another room. I am hoping that I will have more opportunity to move my body. It's hard when I am the first one up and the last to go to bed, doesn't seem to have "time" when someone is not sleeping. I plan on doing that today. Until it gets warmer outside again and I can walk outside with the baby without shivering. LOL

@trooworld , so sorry you have a migraine. I hope you meds don't give you the nausea so you can get your stuff done.

@fabgeekmom Yes those are the reasons I "should" be exercising. My back needs to be stronger and I have osteoporosis with fractures in my back...so yes that should be my top priority. Keep posting and motivate me LOL

@cbabie I’m sorry you woke up with a headache. Moving your exercise stuff to another room is a good idea. Meal planning also is a good thing. I miss walking outside but it is just too cold! @trooworld My son had made the chili recipe and it is so good! He’s fixing it on Tuesday for family dinner. I’ll have to check out the cornbread recipe. Hi, all. I didn’t sleep well last night. Hopefully tonight will be better. I’m going to ride my recumbent bike today- either listen to an audiobook or do a Peloton workout. I need to go to the grocery store to get fruit and vegetables. My daughter is preparing Skinnytaste Shepherds Pie Stew tonight.

@cbabie Winter won't last forever. Have you started your meal plan yet? How about just think about one meal instead of the whole thing cause that can be overwhelming. I use my Trello board and have the same breakfasts and lunch menus throughout the week. Each day is different but I just rotate them from one week to the next. That way I only have to think about planning 7 "dinners" each week. Doing it this way has helped so much. I made a custom field called points so I could put the # of points right on the card. Then I can see whether or not I'm staying within my boundaries as I plan. You could do the same with calories.

@trooworld Hopefully the dietician will give you a good plan to follow.

@fabgeekmom What book are you listening to? My daughter loves shepherd's pie.

I walked for 32 min today in the mall. Then shopped for bday gifts. I have a party on Friday for 3 people. We always do a combined January bday party. I made Hawaiian chicken and sage potatoes. (too high in points but they were really good). I used up some weeklies I did stop myself at just one portion. I just had some blueberries for a snack.

@theslighestedgefoever I’m listening to Murder in Connemara by Carlene O’ Connor. It’s the second in a series. I checked it out on Hoopla. I like cozy mysteries. Most of the time I eat the same breakfast and lunch with a few variations.

@trooworld Too bad about the cold! Hope you feel better soon. Working from home or not working is a good idea. My son had a cold and is getting over it. Thankfully my DH and I have not gotten it. I’m glad you liked the chili. I slept better last night and feel more rested. Hi, all. Despite being tired yesterday, I had a good day. DH and I went to the grocery store and got fruit and vegetables. Also turkey deli for sandwiches. My son went to IKEA and brought back yummy cookies. I ate one and a molasses cookie with hot tea for an afternoon snack. I made bread in the bread maker that didn’t rise. It was still good! My son and I ate a few hunks of it before going to my daughter’s house. I usually have some kind of dessert after dinner so I skipped it.

@trooworld Interesting info about your upcoming surgery. There probably isn’t anything new about dieting so that’s why the visit didn’t give you new information. I hope you’re feeling better. A cold can knock you down. Yesterday was a swim day. My son spatchcocked a chicken that I had marinated in buttermilk and roasted it on top of potatoes, celery, carrots and onions. It was so good! We froze the leftovers for soup. Today DH and I are meeting a cousin and her DH for lunch. I haven’t seen her since before COVID so it will be good to get caught up. My son is making ATK chili and a knock off Outback wheat bread for family dinner.

@trooworld Sorry about the cold. DH has one now with fever and I’m hoping he keeps it to himself. That seems crazy that they want to do surgery but will only give you 9 min of their time for explanations. I was thinking if I could follow a 1200 cal diet plan I wouldn’t need surgery 😃 I suppose you’ll figure it out.

@fabgeekmom For some reason murder mysteries don’t interest me. Neither book or films. That and sci-fi. When I went to the dietitian last year she said you know everything. I can’t help you. I said knowing is not doing Can you help me with doing. Evidently not. Cause a year later and here I am. I eat so much better quality wise than I used to I should be thinner I’ll figure it out

Now you all have made me hungry for chili.

@trooworld Sorry you are still sick. Your eating plan sounds good and workable. As you know I’m a foodie, too. Hi, all. My visit with my cousin was fun. A bit sad as she told us her DH was having symptoms of Parkinson’s and some dementia. He has PHD in math and had a government job. DH and I are thankful for our good health. Dinner last night was good. I ate moderate amounts. Today is a swim day. I’m cooking dinner tonight. I have some pork chops that I’m going to air fry. Also polenta. There’s a microwave recipe on ATK. Some kind of vegetable, possibly butternut squash as I have one. I’m out of my low calorie bread and need to go get some. It’s a brand that sometimes is hard to find.

@fabgeekmom that’s my goal. Figure out the secret. Sad about your cousin’s husband. Yeah good health is so important. I want that and my mobility. My mil has lived with me for almost 9 years. Watching her is a model of what I don’t want.

    @gemwolf110 waving hello 👋🏻

@trooworld So how could you convert what you and hubby make to fit her plan? Portion sizes?

Morning all, Sorry this week I have been trying to get back into the routine of driving my daughter to and from school, homework, cooking dinner, etc. I am exhausted. LOL. I didn't get to exercise yesterday as I was busy with the kids, oh you know, like Dr's, homework all the fun stuff kids bring. :). Today I plan to do 20 min of something, just not sure right now what it is. I didn't get my equipment moved as there didn't really seem to be a place the baby would not try to play with it..so my treadmill is in my closet set up ready to go so I don't have to keep "setting" it up. Still trying to get my meal plans done.

@fabgeekmom you are always planning your meals and moving...so proud of the retirement lifestyle you chose.

@trooworld LOL I was looking at your picture you sent and I was thinking what is BLDS? Is that a new name for how we eat...then DUH....Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack hit my brain. Well at least it made me use my brain. :)

@theslightedgeforever I can hear mom...sometimes me think you think too much. LOL. You are going to find the secret. Think like Indiana Jones...you might just be looking at it and not see it. :)

@gemwolf110 Hi, glad you stopped in!! Hope your week is going well.

@trooworld Sorry you are still sick. Good job on tracking. The meal plan looks doable but I am assuming that is not all you can eat. Also using MFP will get you the same thing. I hope you get the walking pad up. Exercise is so important. @theslightestedgeforever You will find a way to live a healthy lifestyle. My dad is part of my motivation as he was morbidly obese and even though he lived to 92, he didn’t live a fulfilling life. @cbabie Keep on trying with meals and exercise. It is hard when you are so exhausted. Children will do that to you! Hi, all. Dinner last night was good. Pork chops in the air fryer with a rub I made months ago, roasted butternut squash and microwaved polenta ( I used an ATK recipe). Today DH and I are going to the recreation center and then to Sam’s Club. My son is making soup from ATK for dinner. I can’t remember what it is called. Something with Indian spices that DH won’t eat. I will post it later.

@trooworld Sounds like you have started off well. I hope you get your walking pad set up this weekend.

@cbabie Did you do your 20 min of something? If you see my motivation for consistency, let me know.

@fabgeekmom I looked up chana masala. I think I might make that tomorrow. It looks really good. Plus I have all the ingredients on hand. That always helps.

Morning all, I did not get 20 min of exercise in yesterday. I had a crazy day with errands and then "running" after the baby. I also didn't eat too well, wasn't prepared for the day I had. Better planning is needed. I feel frumpy today and that doesn't put my attitude in a good place. So change is needed there as well. Woke up at 4 by a baby throwing up..oh what fun..that will set your tone for breakfast. LOL

@trooworld yea on the loss and so sorry you are still sick..this virus just seems to hang around and visit. I am thinking about doing what my mom used to do when company would come over...she would set the timer on the stove and when it went "ding" company had to leave. LOL.

@fabgeekmom I agree exercise is important. It really isn't about how much, it's the movement in our body to keep all the parts moving. My dad never did therapy correctly after surgery on his leg and the leg was "stuck" in a bent position the rest of his life...I don't want to be him.. although I can hear my sister say...you are him. LOL

@theslightedgeforever I will let you know..LOL. You know DH likes to encourage you to eat..when he want's something, he wants you to enjoy it like him. Tell you you like to play alone...like you did Donna.. LOL

@cbabie Too bad about the baby throwing up. That definitely would set back anyone’s day. Maybe you should concentrate on the food aspect and wait to exercise when things calm down. @trooworld Good job on the weight loss. Sorry you are still sick. Hi, all. I went swimming today. I ate leftover Chana masala for lunch. Greek yogurt with strawberries and blueberries. I nuked the fruit so it tasted sweeter. I ate a cookie in my hot tea and now am in the living room finishing my tea. My son is making ATK 3 ingredient bread to go with dinner.

Morning all, I am so tired of this cold..by bones hurt. LOL. Ready for summer EXCEPT winter clothes are covering all my sins. LOL. Baby is still not well, he is on another antibiotic. I need to go food shopping and get some good food in this house. Plan is food plan, shopping for the food, cook. I can tell you I have for sure done better on cooking at home in the last 3 weeks, so that is a positive. We have just had too many "goodies" left from Christmas.

@fabgeekmom Yes I agree, I should concentrate on the nutrition part, the rest will come. Tell me more about this bread you son was making..3 ingredient? Sounds perfect. LOL

@trooworld sorry about the migraine. I completely understand every day for a few weeks now I get those stupid headaches and I hate them. I did use Claritin and nasal spray..the spray worked better than the Claritin. LOL Have fun getting new glasses, it's that time of the year for me too. I have to make an appointment yet.

@cbabie He didn’t make the bread as he said the reviews were not good. It’s basically self rising flour, sugar and beer. Instead I found some biscuits in the freezer that he made before Christmas. They were ATK butter and lard biscuits. So good! It’s good that you are cooking at home. Food is so much better. Less expensive, too. @trooworld Too bar about the migraine and cold. Getting new glasses is fun. Hi, all. It’s a little warmer here but windy. DH and I walked around the block. I think colder weather is coming. I’m going to ride my bike before lunch. I have leftover steak that I will eat on a low carb wrap. We’re going out to eat tonight. Not sure where.

Morning all, Yesterday was busy as I had company all day, but had fun and enjoyed my visitor. However, we had pizza for lunch. I ate 1 piece and boy I can tell it. The baby was up until 11 last night..so tired. I have to sit down and plan meals and get food in this house. My fridge is so bare. LOL. Even the baby is getting low on milk, this week just seemed to have flown by. So glad baby girl is out of school on Monday, so I get another day off. LOL

@trooworld Love those frames and I think that scream you!! I hope you can fix the disposal and don't have to call your handyman. So glad your migraine went away. It sounds like your new year is working in your favor.

@fabgeekmom Yes, I always read the reviews, why do all that work if people say it's not good..LOL. I bet those biscuits in the freezer were good. I love that you had them and could just pop them in. I am going to do that with bread today. I have 1 frozen loaf left in the freezer. Thanks for the reminder. LOL
