65 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 248 (my 178th). Thank you @quiltingjaine for the new round, as always, so grateful.
Goals for this round to, to lose 1.5 pounds, stay strong look forward to next holiday – s week with the family in this country with a heated indoor swimming pool on site which we plan on using every day, that’s 4 weeks away so I’d ideally like to lose 5 pounds, that is doable if I am sensible and don’t binge eat. Good luck everyone for a successful round.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.

SW RND 248
1/17 142.6 – 6.96 miles walked yesterday, two thirds of exercise calories eaten back.
1/18 141.4 – 9.49 miles walked, no exercise calories eaten back.
1/19 DNW or track ☹
1/20 144 – 9.49 miles walked yesterday, I have to admit that I found some left over Christmas chocolate and I had a major 2 day binge, didn’t weigh yesterday. Got myself together this morning and will try again!
1/21 143.6 – 10.9 miles walked, two thirds of exercise calories eaten back. It feels better to be back under control. Today we travel 2 hours each way to celebrate DD’s 40th birthday, how did that happen!! Don’t feel that much older than 40 myself, so really don’t feel like the mother of a 40 year old! It's for brunch and I know will be very carb heavy, I'm trying to plan in advance.

👍👍This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE & I AM WHAT I EAT!!!!!
10 -
Hi all, it’s my third round. I’m going slow but at least it’s going down. I’m 34 years old and 164 cm (5’ 4.5”). The highest weight I saw on scale was 105.9 kg. I started on December 30, 2023 with 104.7 kg. I aim to lose 30 kg probably in 2 years, realistically. I just try to eat more vegetables, decrease carbs, increase protein, calorie deficit and go to the gym 3 times a week. I’m not very strict (I hate strict diets) I sometimes eat pizza and drink beer however I still try to be in my calorie limit. I am ok with losing it slowly but eating everything. I hope I can be consistent and this can be my lifestyle.
OSW: 104.7 kg
UGW: 75 kg
RSW:103.6 kg
RGW: 102.8 kg
1/17 - 103.6 kg
1/18 - 103.6 kg
1/19 - 104.2 kg (no calorie deficit yesterday)
1/20 - 104 kg (I overate and drank, losing my motivation)
1/21 - 104.1 kg
I stopped logging my food, because I don’t make right choices anymore and tbh I’m a bit tired and stressed. I’m also not doing great on my PhD dissertation that affected me a lot. I have a deadline tomorrow for my draft for my monthly meeting with my supervisors. Maybe after this I will focus more on food. But still thinking about food all day and everyday is so frustrating. I don’t wanna think and calculate everything I eat. I hope at some point I start to do it without thinking about it. I know it’s a process and I’m trying to be patient but it’s so hard.

Freeze 🥶🥶🥶has thrown me off. Was cold to the bone (it’s relative, right?!) 2nd day of LAZY. However, I did get in 20 minutes of 🙆♀️and a dumbbell here/there. Today was about my DGS. I don’t need to eat as much on days like today… I did nothing… It was not a “workout” day, so I need to be more mindful of portion control. I can certainly eat too much of a good thing!
Shall have a better physical day today. Will force myself: 🙆♀️🏋️♀️🤸🏼. No reason I can’t accomplish these activities inside, as I am set up to do it! Don’t make it tough. Let’s go! 🙌🏻
1/18 ⚖️130.6lbs
Yesterday: ✅macros, 1222 cal, 🏋️♀️20 min, 🚶♀️🚫2.5k+, Total 30 ex min,🔥180 Ex cal, 💓Z2 20 min.
NSVs:
✅Paid attention to portion control
✅ Followed through on 🙆♀️ & 🏋️♀️.
✅ ⚖️ 130.6lbs - I opted to weigh because I haven’t been outside/walked, etc for last three days…& I feel like a slug. In my mind, I’m “off plan”, so I wanted to hold myself accountable and hop on the scale. Brief 🏋️♀️🙆♀️ is ✅ ? Will ⚖️ again tomorrow for more info…. (Confirmation: A bear loses weight while hibernating?) 😂Good to know. Solid information.
✅ 🏋️♀️ are scheduled in RED on my calendar!
Today: ☔️🌧️⛈️ but in the 60s… This weather is on the brink of destroying my attitude. 🙆♀️🏋️♀️🤸🏼perhaps I’ll venture to the gym at my club - my own little private treasure island. Gosh I miss tennis!
1/19 ⚖️ 132.0 Scale still has a psychological impact on me… 🎢?! Is this water? Muscle? Neither or both? It’s information, silly!
Yesterday: ✅macros, 1177 cal, ✅🏋️♀️& 🙆♀️🤸🏼, 🚶♀️🚫2.1k+, Total ex min 68, 🔥339 Ex cal, 💓Z2 35 min.
For some reason I just started 🏋️♀️🤸🏼🙆♀️ @home and it clicked! Felt great. 💪🏻 Did not leave the house to walk so another day without steps. 😞 Will bundle up & 🚶♀️today!
1/20 DNW. Yesterday: ✅macros, 1200cal, ✅🏋️♀️& 🙆♀️🤸🏼, 🚶♀️10.8k, Total ex min 138, 🔥600 Ex cal, 💓Z2 20 min.
What a difference the weather makes! Sunny skies, 46° very windy & gorgeous. Perfect day for 4.2mi power walk. Conquered 🏋️♀️🤸🏼🙆♀️ early in the morning, so I felt great all day!
Today: Try same 🏋️♀️🤸🏼🙆♀️🚶♀️as yesterday but much colder today, ☀️w/ no wind. Doing well with portions. Will be a terrific day. Still missing tennis.
Reflections: Many want/need variety with meals - I don’t. I’m lucky. Quite comfortable with basically the same foods day-to-day. This was an evolution… has not always been true for me. Easy on my digestion. Makes daily decisions & grocery shopping effortless. Giving up sugar and processed foods the BEST decision of my life. Well on my way with food as fuel… No alcohol since NYE. Can count on one hand the number of times since July. Game-changer. No way I feel deprived. I actually feel free. Onward!

Too cold for me again. Only 1.0 mile afternoon power walk. (I underestimated how cold it was, with wind chill - did not dress correctly, so just came home)
✅🤸🏼🙆♀️ enjoyed nice functional workout. Cozy on couch ALL DAY watching TV!!!! (This rarely happens-a real treat yesterday!)

The yo-yo is exhausting & unhealthy. Takes up way too much brain space.
I learned MY choices created an emotional 🎢 roller coaster with yo-yo weight and fitness. My forever goal is to maintain approx. 130lbs and IN SHAPE. Pretty clear that once I reached a goal weight I would then relax/ drift backwards. So glad 145lbs was the max over the last nine years.
I also noticed that as I age it becomes much, MUCH more difficult to lose weight. I could lose 15lbs easy in 8 weeks up to 2020ish … This is absolutely not true anymore!
While active with 🚶♀️& 🎾 it’s clear a ST routine is absent. Time to incorporate ST 🏋️♀️ as my TRUE focus.

I'm Julie, 35 years old, married, SAHM to two year old twins.
SW RND 248: 135.6 (end of last round).
1/17: 136.2. Did a 5 mile run, walked twice, and did good on calories. Right now, I'm just going to trust the process because I know I am doing everything 'right'.
1/18: 135.1. Calories were good, went for a walk but no run.
1/19: 133.8. calories were under, did a 5 mile run. It's nice to be rewarded for my efforts with a good number on the scale.
1/20: 137.1. Night out with friends and a few drinks. Oh well.
1/21: 137.1. period started yesterday, which might be causing some water retention. Food hasn't been the greatest. I have a 10k race in a couple of hours. It's my first race and I am super nervous, but it should be fun.

@lolakinks
You are right, it is hard and it can be frustrating. My advice (for what it's worth) is to focus on your Ph.D. dissertation. That's what's foremost on your mind. Continue to log here and continue to be mindful of what you're eating and take time for some exercise, even if just 15 minutes. Track if you can (even if it's just ball park....it's valuable information that will give you insight, later, when you're ready). And speaking of ready, you have to get your mindset ready and that takes time. Don't give up on you!
10 -
@lolakinks DONT GIVE UP! Record your food. It only takes a couple of minutes. Even if your food choices are off. You can use it for information later. Record. Recording is an NSV. It’s a WIN! Come on💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻.
Nice to see we're on the same page!6 -

1/21: snowshoeing must have bumped my metabolism! Glad I got the travel scale so I could learn about what happens when we're away and eating out, not measuring my food. I almost skipped this morning but decided, WTH, might as well know!
Today we meet my son (who lives up here near Northampton MA), at a wood-fired pizza place- 2 slices and a salad! I can do this!

I’ve found strenuous workouts result in belly fat due to increased cortisol. Peri and post menopausal women already have increased cortisol due to fluctuating and/or lack of estrogen.
My friend was experiencing the same issue so I suggested decreasing/dropping the high intensity spin classes and focus on weight training instead. It worked really well for her and she looks amazing.
Hope this data is helpful.
Totally agree with @jerier ~ but just wanted to add a sidenote about LISS (especially for us older folks) "LISS, like other forms of low- to moderate-intensity exercise, has many health benefits. It can help lower the risk of high blood pressure, stroke, obesity, diabetes, and several types of cancer. It can also improve muscle strength, aerobic fitness, mental health, cognitive function, and sleep." (Low Intensity Steady State and requires you to keep your heart rate between 60-80% of its maximum capacity.)
Being post-menopausal myself, weights and resistance are MANDATORY for building bone and muscle. Daily LISS (30-60 mins) is helping me lose body fat and improving sleep. Using HIIT once or twice a week for endurance. Hope someone find this useful!@deepwoodslady @Leigh_b - I agree on Zumba- and I love to dance! Maybe I would try it in the privacy of my home where I wouldn't endanger other participants, but in the gym I almost took out my neighbors.
@judefit1 ~ and I'm #teamdance all day ladies!! I believe no matter how awkwardly we may move, as long as its joyful and feels good its a gift. 💃🏾 I've been incorporating more this month as a way to reconnect with my body and my youth! There's a quote Dance like no one's watching, for the dance is you alone.

1st Round 246 SW: 212.5
3rd Round 248 SW: 207.7
Goals: Stay consistent, get stronger, lose more inches.
1/17 207.7 (weighed myself 3x today which means I've started obsessing ~ need to work on that)
1/18 207.0 (feeling like a set point! 🤔 professionals say don't give up and keep trying new tricks)
1/19 DNW (no reason other than just didn't feel like it)
1/20 208.3 (some poor choices this weekend ~ but its okay, buckling down rest of month)
1/21 208.1 (20 min 🏋🏾♀️ workout yesterday? 9 hrs sleep? will it continue? IDK and doesn't matter ~ proud of my work thus far and loving the skin I'm in. Looking forward to pics, measurements and new game plan for the week. #fitfam #initforlife

What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.

SW RND 248 133.5
1/17 133.0 I’m pleased with this but expect it to go up in the next day or two. I wanted something with crunch and ate 5 saltines with butter. Back “on the wagon” but no idea what is the snack/supper they are serving at bingo tonight.
1/18 134.5 I was weak. Did great with sub sandwich - pulled all of the soft white bread out and used the crusts to make my sandwich, added onion, tomato and lettuce. I should have stopped there but ate 2 bakery cookies. I’m okay with this though. I should be able to get rid of that quickly.
1/19 134.0 Boing, boing, boing. I’m good with this. Keeping everything under control.
1/20 134.0 OMAD was later than I like (after 5) due to HOA workshop DH was conducting. Shedding may take longer than when we ate earlier. It is what it is. In 10 days I’ll be going on a 6 day quilt retreat. No meals provided. The ladies I’m going with try to eat low carb too and one husband will be playing “Uber Eats” for us.
1/21 134.0 Had a scratchy throat by evening and this morning I seem to have lost my voice. Sucking on zinc drops (SF) so my coffee tastes awful.10 -
SW RND 248 236.2
1/17 233 / Yesterday wasn't everything that I was hoping for it to be thanks to some unexpected news at night, but I stayed the course and didn't eat my feelings and it paid off on the scale.
1/18 231.4 / Been about a month since I've been at this weight. Woo hoo. Back at indoor soccer tonight.
1/19 233.2 / Soccer game was fun last night but we were terrible. Got some running around in an otherwise low step day. Today has been good - I am working from home so I got to use my lunch break to ride the Peloton. Love that.
1/20 232.2 / Ended up doing two rides yesterday and I treated myself to a bubble bath after some cleaning. Felt great to pamper myself.
1/21 236 / Yesterday was a relaxing day. We also ate too much take-out... day just sorta ended up that way. Weekends haven't been as disciplined as week days which slows my progress.

I did reasonably well yesterday, although I ate more bread than intended. Day by day. Off to get a little exercise shoveling the driveway.

Phooey. No idea why and I’m not going to worry about it. Just keep on with calories control, more protein, less bread.

It’s 3F this morning, feels like -15F. Lovely. I’m off in a bit to a friend’s house to knit in company for a couple of hours. I’m sure there will be snacks, but I’ll try to just keep my hands busy. Have a lovely Saturday, friends!
