1/17 133.0 Iโm pleased with this but expect it to go up in the next day or two. I wanted something with crunch and ate 5 saltines with butter. Back โon the wagonโ but no idea what is the snack/supper they are serving at bingo tonight.
1/18 134.5 I was weak. Did great with sub sandwich - pulled all of the soft white bread out and used the crusts to make my sandwich, added onion, tomato and lettuce. I should have stopped there but ate 2 bakery cookies. Iโm okay with this though. I should be able to get rid of that quickly.

1/20 134.0 OMAD was later than I like (after 5) due to HOA workshop DH was conducting. Shedding may take longer than when we ate earlier. It is what it is. In 10 days Iโll be going on a 6 day quilt retreat. No meals provided. The ladies Iโm going with try to eat low carb too and one husband will be playing โUber Eatsโ for us.
1/21 134.0 Had a scratchy throat last evening and this morning I seem to have lost my voice. Sucking on zinc drops (SF) so my coffee tastes awful.

Yesterday was a Chinese buffet for lunch and the childrenโs movie Migration (very fun movie) at the Cinema. I know I am retaining water today so I hope for a drop tomorrow, but itโs going to take more than some fluid loss to right this wrong. If youโve been around awhile then you know Iโm either full-steam-ahead on track or Iโm lollygagging somewhere off the beaten path. There doesnโt seem to be an in-between for me. Time to get back on track. No more shenanigans!

I may have figured it out, really! It sounds crazy, but. With warmer weather, snow and ice thawing, more moisture in the air. We breathe air. More moisture in our bodies? Makes a good story, true or not.6 -

History:Harry and Han are our cats, who travel with us. Have two โkidsโ, who are very much adults, a DGS, and second GS on the way. We have three parents, 88(father), 86(mother), 84(MIL) still with us, and I have logically been needing to help them more as they age. I got my act in gear during COVID, somewhat inspired by NOT becoming my parents. I lost 30 lbs and was exercising daily. Unfortunately, I am an โall in or notโ person. Hubby and I seeing our family home and downsizing distractions, plus medical incident with my father and all their new needs, became an excuse (father has since passed and I am DPOA, Personal representative AKA executor, trustee, and oversee the majority of my motherโs care). A year and a half later, I gained 25 lbs and lost all my athletic improvements. I need to figure out balance and how to make health be a daily priority for life!

1/17 โ 128.2 Makes absolutely no sense BUT I tracked perfectly yesterday, and I actually solidly under ate. So, this is where I am trusting my tracking and not the scale and moving ahead with confidence.
1/18 โ 127.4 So โyesterdayโ cleared up, just as I anticipated. Did I end up back at 127.2 where I started? No, but also last night I faced eating a meal that I could not plan for, and was one for which it was necessary that I not pull out the โI track my foodโ, a point which I normally am more than willing to share as I think tracking is awesome (remember I like data). DH and I were invited for dinner by the hard working, but divisive/temperamental, head of our condo association. He is French, so the meal was actually quite healthy, but I am sure somewhat more than my normal calories. Plus he served champagne, then wine (I rarely drink), and possibly the best steak I have ever had (note that I never order steaks in restaurants, so no restaurant steak to compare to). Anyhow, overall happy with the number. Was a nice evening, and no condo drama occurred, which was a concern (Iโm sure it was a concern for him as well). Happy Thursday all!
1/19 โ 127.8 truly surprised. numbers were good yesterday and when I got up this morning I felt great. I totally expected a nice โdownโ. Continuing with the trusting my tracking. As I mentioned, numbers were good and calories were not too high, not too low, and did include a nice walk yesterday, even though I have walked farther at other times. Tonightโs dinner is the same as 1/16. Letโs see if I get the crazy โupโ again. Fun experiment!
1/20 โ 126.8 Sooooo, the up on 1/17 was not due to dinner on 1/16, as I had the exact same dinner last night and dropped instead of gaining. The mysteries of weight loss/maintenance continues. Grateful for the drop. I am getting back closer to the range in which I would like to remain.
The โboysโ (AKA Harry and Han Solo, cats) are doing wellโฆ. Finally. Han is dropping a little (11 lb 12.5 oz), and Harry (10 lb 13 oz) who had been vomiting and dropping weight, is gaining nicely. My preference for both would be between 11 and 11.25 lb. I doubt Han will ever see that but I will settle for striving to keep him under 12 lb. Meanwhile, Harry might actually get to these numbers.
1/21 โ 129.0 Ouch! Yes, I decided to eat unrestricted at a restaurant last night, complete with cheesecake for dessert. Today, is back to normal. Iโll expect the scale to reflect normalcy again in just a day or two.
1/22 โ 128.0 Starting to go down. Heading out for a fast walk this morning, then Iโll join the girls for the usual pace. Tracking for the day. Making sure I hit my numbers.

1/17 233 / Yesterday wasn't everything that I was hoping for it to be thanks to some unexpected news at night, but I stayed the course and didn't eat my feelings and it paid off on the scale.
1/18 231.4 / Been about a month since I've been at this weight. Woo hoo. Back at indoor soccer tonight.
1/19 233.2 / Soccer game was fun last night but we were terrible. Got some running around in an otherwise low step day. Today has been good - I am working from home so I got to use my lunch break to ride the Peloton. Love that.
1/20 232.2 / Ended up doing two rides yesterday and I treated myself to a bubble bath after some cleaning. Felt great to pamper myself.
1/21 236 / Yesterday was a relaxing day. We also ate too much take-out... day just sorta ended up that way. Weekends haven't been as disciplined as week days which slows my progress.
1/22 233 / Got a one hour ride in on the Peloton before watching my Bills suffer a crushing defeat. Cheering for the Lions now! Working from home today so I was able to ride the Peloton before work.. love that!

@SModa61 and @Corina1143 Thanks for the tips. I tried them and the scale still didn't move so I decided to weigh myself after my morning cup of tea and it finally changed. I think it needs to recognise a different weight that is close to the last one it assigned to me before it will snap out its funk.6

1/18 : 164.2 lbs Surprised by the drop because I ate a lot of curry last night. I might be dehydrated.
1/19 : 164.2 lbs I need a plan for pizza night. We make small pizzas from scratch and the home made base is delicious but calorific. I think I will aim for 4 slices which is about 500 calories according to my calculations. I will eat slowly and mindfully with lots of sips of water in between. Last week I ate 6 slices which was way too much and I felt over full.
1/20 : 164.2 lbs I am so pleased that I stuck to my plan for pizza night. Usually I gain about a pound then spend the rest of the challenge trying to lose it again. I felt full after 4 slices and most importantly, I didn't feel like I was missing out. Even though my the scale hasn't moved for a few days, I feel like I am making progress.
1/21 : 164.2 lbs I think eating slowly had really helped me get more pleasure out of eating small amounts of treats. Yesterday my kids made some apple crumble and it took the family less than 5 minutes to eat a their slices. I made my small slice last 15 minutes. I know I have rubbished mindful eating in the past but for me it is really helping. Still no movement on the scale though. I am surprised the scale would actually weigh me so consistently the same weight. Surely there would be fluid fluctuations from day to day that should show up on the scale? My scale remembers different people's weight. I suspect there is logic in the scale that snaps the weight to my last weight if it is within a certain margin. Or perhaps my scale is broken.

Hi all, itโs my third round. Iโm going slow but at least itโs going down. Iโm 34 years old and 164 cm (5โ 4.5โ). The highest weight I saw on scale was 105.9 kg. I started on December 30, 2023 with 104.7 kg. I aim to lose 30 kg probably in 2 years, realistically. I just try to eat more vegetables, decrease carbs, increase protein, calorie deficit and go to the gym 3 times a week. Iโm not very strict (I hate strict diets) I sometimes eat pizza and drink beer however I still try to be in my calorie limit. I am ok with losing it slowly but eating everything. I hope I can be consistent and this can be my lifestyle.

I stopped logging my food, because I donโt make right choices anymore and tbh Iโm a bit tired and stressed. Iโm also not doing great on my PhD dissertation that affected me a lot. I have a deadline tomorrow for my draft for my monthly meeting with my supervisors. Maybe after this I will focus more on food. But still thinking about food all day and everyday is so frustrating. I wanna thank everyone ( @Cchassee , @itladyee , @abigailgorton1 , @dawnbgethealthy , @SheilaBoneham ) here youโre very supportive and it means a lot. I moved to the UK 1.5 years ago and I donโt have any friends to talk about losing weight process (except my partner who is not overweight like me). So itโs a lonely process, and PhD is also a lonely process. So everything is too overwhelming sometimes. When my deadlines are close I tend to do emotional eating or just choose high calorie foods. I sent my draft today will meet with my supervisors on Thursday. I have another deadline in next week, hopefully, I will be less stressed and eat better.
Thank you all for sharing your experiences. I didnโt want to log my foods I thought I would feel worse by realising I am not doing well. I even didnโt want to weight myself but I pushed myself and stayed in the challenges, thatโs all I could do. But I will continue, today wasnโt great but I will be better tomorrow.
@SheilaBoneham my area is very multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary, my research is on LGBT+ migrantsโ homemaking experiences. I still donโt have a working system to be honest I try to do 25 minutes work 5 minutes break these days but itโs not great so far. Maybe I can try yours 45+15.
@abigailgorton1 Iโm a first year PhD student but actually itโs my second PhD I studied in my home country before 3 years but I left it to come to the UK.

1/17 - 153.2 - very excited to be starting with a loss - now I need to hold it. Celebration season is over and looking forward to getting back into a normal routine - although what I thought was going to be a quiet weekend this weekend has suddenly become very busy. Winter Warrior Challenge #17 - 3 miles - still snow covered roads and extremely low wind-chills. 14 days left to go.
1/18 - 154.5 ๐ฉ. Winter Warrior Challenge Day #18 - walked 3 miles to give my legs a rest. Roads are still snow covered, 17 degrees Fahrenheit, feels like 10 - felt warm compared to the past 4 days ๐
1/19 - 152.8 ๐ฏ. Not sure how that happened, but happy to see it. Winter Warrior Challenge Day #19. Still snow covered roads (it's been too cold to melt) and super cold ๐ฅถ but I got it done. On the downward slide โonlyโ 12 days to go ๐คช
1/20 - 152.3. Hoping this holds but going out to dinner at very fancy new restaurant tonight so thinking this will likely go the other way tomorrow. Winter Warrior Challenge Day #20 - 5 miles. Only 11 more days to go!
1/21- 152.5 - busy day - lots of car time- drove 2 hours to watch my daughter compete in an indoor track meet - lots of random food but kept things as healthy as possible and did not go overboard. Noted that indoor runners seem a lot warmer than I've been lately ๐ค ๐ ๐ - Winter Warrior Challenge Day #21 โ 3 miles. Still very cold and snow covered roads. It is supposed to warm up a bit this week so hoping I can finish this challenge on clear roads ๐ค

The weather has been brutal - which is the point of the challenge - but it is definitely getting old. ๐Current round musingsโฆ- (Day 41) 01/17 โด 219.0 lb. ~ I definitely need to move more. There is still time tonight but...It's cold out and dark ... I guess it will be weights and stairs. I did meet the healthy eating (except sodium), calorie & water goals. So, I will call today successful.
- (Day 42) 01/18 โด 219 lb. ~ Happy to say, I got up and moved last night. Iโm not too surprised about todayโs weight after going way over on sodium yesterday. Today I met the healthy eating, calorie & water goals with a few calories left over. It was deskwork all day, dang those virtual meetings, so I am a slug.
- (Day 43) 01/19 โด 218 lb. ~ I hope to get over this little slump. I havenโt lost a lb. in a while. Doldrums tonight. I need to get outside and walk. Tomorrow will be better.
- (Day 44) 01/20 โด 218.4 lb. ~ I knew today would be better. I am checking in earlier than my normal at bedtime, it is because I forced myself to get up and walk a 30-minute mile on the treadmill. I realize thatโs slow, and it wasnโt pretty, but I did it! I have plenty of calories left to finish the day and I feel like I can make good choices. I wish the best for you.
- (Day 45) 01/21 โด 217.8 lb. ~ Another early post for me. Oregon is a great place to live from April to October. But the winter months of clouds, rain, and wind can be very depressing, it reminds me of Ohio in the winter. On the positive, I have a 2-day streak of 30-minute exercise. I havenโt made excellent choices for food today. I need to increase my vegetables and with less than 400 calories left, it will be a vegetable-laden dinner. The scale is easing down slowly, I was planning for a 3 lb. loss this round. At the halfway point of this round, it will be a mini-miracle if I achieve that.

Iโm a 65 year young Oregon gal working on getting rid of those last 5-8 pounds. Last round I hit my first goal of 135, now working to hit my next goal of 130. The plan this round continues to be a minimum of 10,000 steps ๐ฃ, 2-3 days a week at the gym๐๏ธโโ๏ธ, logging โ๏ธ everyday with no snacking after 8:00, and limiting the ๐ทto social events only. And of course guzzling the water ๐ง!!!

1/17- 176.8 (80.2 kg) My rheumatologist noticed I was a few pounds down from my last appointment six months ago.
1/18- 176.7 Comfort food tonight. Hamburger Helper Italian Basil Penne. High sodium, but within my calories.
1/19- 176.5 Coworkers suggested pizza from a local place for lunch. The restaurant doesn't have calories online, so I guesstimated with a mod pizza. That took most of my allotment, so good thing it was very filling. And delicious!
1/20- 176.1 Helped my sister do some painting today, plan to help again a few hours tomorrow. Steak and potatoes for dinner tonight.
1/21- 175.2 (79.5 kg) New low appeared on the scale. I suspect it was water weight, but even if I'm up for a while, I have faith I'll see it and new lows if I stick with it. Also, even though I don't use kgs outside of online, they make for different milestones in addition to the pound ones. Under 80 kgs! Next looking forward to being under 175.
1/22- 174.8 Still stiff this evening when I sit still for a while due to the painting this weekend. Also slept badly last night. Hoping for a good night's rest tonight.

Goals for this round to, to lose 1.5 pounds, stay strong look forward to next holiday โ s week with the family in this country with a heated indoor swimming pool on site which we plan on using every day, thatโs 4 weeks away so Iโd ideally like to lose 5 pounds, that is doable if I am sensible and donโt binge eat. Good luck everyone for a successful round.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, itโs taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.

1/20 144 โ 9.49 miles walked yesterday, I have to admit that I found some left over Christmas chocolate and I had a major 2 day binge, didnโt weigh yesterday. Got myself together this morning and will try again!
1/21 143.6 โ 10.9 miles walked; two thirds of exercise calories eaten back. It feels better to be back under control. Today we travel 2 hours each way to celebrate DDโs 40th birthday, how did that happen!! Donโt feel that much older than 40 myself, so really donโt feel like the mother of a 40-year-old! It's for brunch and I know will be very carb heavy, I'm trying to plan in advance.

Reflections: Many want/need variety with meals - I donโt. Iโm lucky. Quite comfortable with basically the same foods day-to-day. This was an evolutionโฆ has not always been true for me. Easy on my digestion. Makes daily decisions & grocery shopping effortless. Giving up sugar and processed foods the BEST decision of my life. Well on my way with food as fuelโฆ No alcohol since NYE. Can count on one hand the number of times since July. Game-changer. No way I feel deprived. I actually feel free. Onward!

The yo-yo is exhausting & unhealthy. Takes up way too much brain space.
I learned MY choices created an emotional ๐ข roller coaster with yo-yo weight and fitness. My forever goal is to maintain approx. 130lbs and IN SHAPE. Pretty clear that once I reached a goal weight I would then relax/ drift backwards. So glad 145lbs was the max over the last nine years.
I also noticed that as I age it becomes much, MUCH more difficult to lose weight. I could lose 15lbs easy in 8 weeks up to 2020ish โฆ This is absolutely not true anymore!
While active with ๐ถโโ๏ธ& ๐พ itโs clear a ST routine is absent. Time to incorporate ST ๐๏ธโโ๏ธ as my TRUE focus.
