Round 248 ● My Journey ~ round 4 ● Karla, 67y, 5'4"
Starting wt. 231 lb. /Goal wt. 140 lb. *** Ending wt. round 3 ✴ 219 lb.
🙂Current round musings…- (Day 41) 01/17 ✴ 219.0 lb. ~ I definitely need to move more. There is still time tonight but...It's cold out and dark ... I guess it will be weights and stairs. I did meet the healthy eating (except sodium), calorie & water goals. So, I will call today successful.
- (Day 42) 01/18 ✴ 219 lb. ~ Happy to say, I got up and moved last night. I’m not too surprised about today’s weight after going way over on sodium yesterday. Today I met the healthy eating, calorie & water goals with a few calories left over. It was deskwork all day, dang those virtual meetings, so I am a slug.
- (Day 43) 01/19 ✴ 218 lb. ~ I hope to get over this little slump. I haven’t lost a lb. in a while. Doldrums tonight. I need to get outside and walk. Tomorrow will be better.
- (Day 44) 01/20 ✴ 218.4 lb. ~ I knew today would be better. I am checking in earlier than my normal at bedtime, it is because I forced myself to get up and walk a 30-minute mile on the treadmill. I realize that’s slow, and it wasn’t pretty, but I did it! I have plenty of calories left to finish the day and I feel like I can make good choices. I wish the best for you.
- (Day 45) 01/21 ✴ 217.8 lb. ~ Another early post for me. Oregon is a great place to live from April to October. But the winter months of clouds, rain, and wind can be very depressing, it reminds me of Ohio in the winter. On the positive, I have a 2-day streak of 30-minute exercise. I haven’t made excellent choices for food today. I need to increase my vegetables and with less than 400 calories left, it will be a vegetable-laden dinner. The scale is easing down slowly, I was planning for a 3 lb. loss this round. At the halfway point of this round, it will be a mini-miracle if I achieve that.
- (Day 46) 01/22 ✴ 218.2 lb. ~ So, that streak ended quickly. Lazy day. That’s it for today.
- (Day 47) 01/23 ✴ ??? lb. ~
- (Day 48) 01/24 ✴ ??? lb. ~
- (Day 49) 01/25 ✴ ??? lb. ~
- (Day 50) 01/26 ✴ ??? lb. ~
- Water 60oz+ each day
- Eating healthy, high protein & fiber, 1450 kcal limit.
- 30min of exercise 7 x a week; walking, strength, intentional movement
🙂 Whatever I am not changing, I am choosing.🙂

Hi, I'm Charissa
Thank you, QuiltingJaine, for keeping us focused in 2024!

So here we go 2024... my motto -
🏋🏾♀️ Don't think, just do it!!
Goals this round:
- Tracking to the best of my ability 🍎and staying under calorie budget -- Defining a higher calorie budget which will make the loss slower but again, more sustainable.
Also get rid of the oops factor. When targets are too low, it easy to say...Oops, I went over so I
might as well have...<fill in the blank>
Update: I increased my calorie budget and am having trouble meeting it with the right macros.
Update: I hit my protein macro once in the last 10 days.... it's hard!
- Goal is 60 this week
- Closing my rings : 🚶🏽

1/18 217.0 Accepted....
1/19 216.8 I'll take it!! Today was a tough gym day. Still battling a cold that is bad enough to make me feel "meh", but not classify as "sick"...It was a tough 30 minutes on the treadmill but I did it!
1/20 215.4🙂🙂🙂 I think we are having pizza today 🙀 It was a gift from Christmas from goldbelly.... I will be happy to "hold" for the next day or two...it is the WEEKEND!
1/21 216.8 Expected that because yesterday was quite a drop. No worries
1/22 216.4 Seems reasonable. Rounds end on a Friday...before the weekend...hoping for a good one!

@refactoredI suspect there is logic in the scale that snaps the weight to my last weight if it is within a certain margin.
9 - Defining a higher calorie budget which will make the loss slower but again, more sustainable.

☃️🍎Ten More Days 🍎⛄️🐾
I’m a 65 year young Oregon gal working on getting rid of those last 5-8 pounds. Last round I hit my first goal of 135, now working to hit my next goal of 130. The plan this round continues to be a minimum of 10,000 steps 👣, 2-3 days a week at the gym🏋️♀️, logging ✏️ everyday with no snacking after 8:00, and limiting the 🍷to social events only. And of course guzzling the water 💧!!!

HW: 194.7 (88.3 kg) April 25, 2020
END WT RND 247: 177.4 (80.5 kg)
1/17- 176.8 (80.2 kg) My rheumatologist noticed I was a few pounds down from my last appointment six months ago.
1/18- 176.7 Comfort food tonight. Hamburger Helper Italian Basil Penne. High sodium, but within my calories.
1/19- 176.5 Coworkers suggested pizza from a local place for lunch. The restaurant doesn't have calories online, so I guesstimated with a mod pizza. That took most of my allotment, so good thing it was very filling. And delicious!
1/20- 176.1 Helped my sister do some painting today, plan to help again a few hours tomorrow. Steak and potatoes for dinner tonight.
1/21- 175.2 (79.5 kg) New low appeared on the scale. I suspect it was water weight, but even if I'm up for a while, I have faith I'll see it and new lows if I stick with it. Also, even though I don't use kgs outside of online, they make for different milestones in addition to the pound ones. Under 80 kgs! Next looking forward to being under 175.
1/22- 174.8 Still stiff this evening when I sit still for a while due to the painting this weekend. Also slept badly last night. Hoping for a good night's rest tonight.

65 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 248 (my 178th). Thank you @quiltingjaine for the new round, as always, so grateful.
Goals for this round to, to lose 1.5 pounds, stay strong look forward to next holiday – s week with the family in this country with a heated indoor swimming pool on site which we plan on using every day, that’s 4 weeks away so I’d ideally like to lose 5 pounds, that is doable if I am sensible and don’t binge eat. Good luck everyone for a successful round.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.

Day, Weight, Comment
SW RND 248
1/17 142.6 – 6.96 miles walked yesterday, two thirds of exercise calories eaten back.
1/18 141.4 – 9.49 miles walked, no exercise calories eaten back.
1/19 DNW or track ☹
1/20 144 – 9.49 miles walked yesterday, I have to admit that I found some left over Christmas chocolate and I had a major 2 day binge, didn’t weigh yesterday. Got myself together this morning and will try again!
1/21 143.6 – 10.9 miles walked; two thirds of exercise calories eaten back. It feels better to be back under control. Today we travel 2 hours each way to celebrate DD’s 40th birthday, how did that happen!! Don’t feel that much older than 40 myself, so really don’t feel like the mother of a 40-year-old! It's for brunch and I know will be very carb heavy, I'm trying to plan in advance.
1/22 144 – no structured walking due to the celebrations and sitting in the car, but wonderful to be with DD, DS & their respective families.
1/23 145 - !!!! I need to get my snacking under control & rein in, this is a wake-up call, I know what I need to do, I just need to do it. 3 days to turn this around this round. 9.82 miles walked.

Goals for this round:
Tomorrow we leave for a long weekend at a New England B&B, with breakfasts that are amazing and dinners out every night. But we'll be snowshoeing every day so I should be able to maintain. These 5 days will be a great test on keeping to the plan while enjoying a vacation. Real life beta test
*maintain weight at 140.8 (or lose slightly when I get back)
*enjoy my vacation without obsessing, but weigh every day (travel scale!)
*have fun and make this work for the long run!

Big picture- I'm still going in the right direction- and I'm still checking in. And that with vacation factored in there!10 -

Freeze 🥶🥶🥶has thrown me off. Was cold to the bone (it’s relative, right?!) 2nd day of LAZY. However, I did get in 20 minutes of 🙆♀️and a dumbbell here/there. Today was about my DGS. I don’t need to eat as much on days like today… I did nothing… It was not a “workout” day, so I need to be more mindful of portion control. I can certainly eat too much of a good thing!
Shall have a better physical day today. Will force myself: 🙆♀️🏋️♀️🤸🏼. No reason I can’t accomplish these activities inside, as I am set up to do it! Don’t make it tough. Let’s go! 🙌🏻

NSVs:
✅Paid attention to portion control
✅ Followed through on 🙆♀️ & 🏋️♀️.
✅ ⚖️ 130.6lbs - I opted to weigh because I haven’t been outside/walked, etc for last three days…& I feel like a slug. In my mind, I’m “off plan”, so I wanted to hold myself accountable and hop on the scale. Brief 🏋️♀️🙆♀️ is ✅ ? Will ⚖️ again tomorrow for more info…. (Confirmation: A bear loses weight while hibernating?) 😂Good to know. Solid information.
✅ 🏋️♀️ are scheduled in RED on my calendar!
Today: ☔️🌧️⛈️ but in the 60s… This weather is on the brink of destroying my attitude. 🙆♀️🏋️♀️🤸🏼perhaps I’ll venture to the gym at my club - my own little private treasure island. Gosh I miss tennis!
1/19 ⚖️ 132.0 Scale still has a psychological impact on me… 🎢?! Is this water? Muscle? Neither or both? It’s information, silly!
Yesterday: ✅macros, 1177 cal, ✅🏋️♀️& 🙆♀️🤸🏼, 🚶♀️🚫2.1k+, Total ex min 68, 🔥339 Ex cal, 💓Z2 35 min.
For some reason I just started 🏋️♀️🤸🏼🙆♀️ @home and it clicked! Felt great. 💪🏻 Did not leave the house to walk so another day without steps. 😞 Will bundle up & 🚶♀️today!
1/20 DNW. Yesterday: ✅macros, 1200cal, ✅🏋️♀️& 🙆♀️🤸🏼, 🚶♀️10.8k, Total ex min 138, 🔥600 Ex cal, 💓Z2 20 min.
What a difference the weather makes! Sunny skies, 46° very windy & gorgeous. Perfect day for 4.2mi power walk. Conquered 🏋️♀️🤸🏼🙆♀️ early in the morning, so I felt great all day!
Today: Try same 🏋️♀️🤸🏼🙆♀️🚶♀️as yesterday but much colder today, ☀️w/ no wind. Doing well with portions. Will be a terrific day. Still missing tennis.
Reflections: Many want/need variety with meals - I don’t. I’m lucky. Quite comfortable with basically the same foods day-to-day. This was an evolution… has not always been true for me. Easy on my digestion. Makes daily decisions & grocery shopping effortless. Giving up sugar and processed foods the BEST decision of my life. Well on my way with food as fuel… No alcohol since NYE. Can count on one hand the number of times since July. Game-changer. No way I feel deprived. I actually feel free. Onward!

Yesterday: ✅macros, 1680cal, ✅🏋️♀️& 🙆♀️🤸🏼, 🚶♀️5.2k, Total ex min 84, 🔥258 Ex cal, 💓Z2 38 min.
Too cold for me again. Only 1.0 mile afternoon power walk. (I underestimated how cold it was, with wind chill - did not dress correctly, so just came home)
✅🤸🏼🙆♀️ enjoyed nice functional workout. Cozy on couch ALL DAY watching TV!!!! (This rarely happens-a real treat yesterday!)
Today: 🎾🤸🏼🚶♀️
1/22 Yesterday: ✅macros, 1655cal, ✅🏋️♀️& 🙆♀️🤸🏼, 🚶♀️3.2k, Total ex min 34, 🔥100 Ex cal, 💓Z2 18 min.
Not pleased with my downward activity trends… Even my watch reminded me….
I had planned to hit the 🎾ball machine in the afternoon, so did not walk early, but when I walked out of the door for 🎾, I turned around because it was simply too darn cold. Such a lightweight. Never realized how much my energy /commitment is based on feel-good weather…. Ate too many calories - didn’t burn 🔥 enough. Too much fuel! 😂 Disappointed in my sluggishness.
🙆♀️🎾this morn. 🤸🏼later. (Temp up & will rain through Sat starting tonight) Ugh. Will come up with a rain plan! (Looks like I’ll be five days at the club this week!)
1/23 Yesterday: ✅macros, 1158 cal, ✅🙆♀️🤸🏼🎾, 🚶♀️7.8k, Total ex min 118, 🔥962 Ex cal, 💓Z2 36 min.
Fun tennis with nice weather. Good to finally enjoy outside & feeling active. Good lunch & dinner. Ate light yesterday - I just didn’t feel like eating more … kinda feeling bloated. Huh 🤔?
Today: Morning walk? Doing maintenance is unsettling. My yo-yo 🪀 tendencies are wanting to kick in? Strange uneasiness…. maybe I can re-direct that negative energy somehow. Wait it out… Let it pass. (I can hear my mom whispering “this, too, shall pass…”) Be mindful & grateful…. Think GOOD thoughts… Let’s go!

The yo-yo is exhausting & unhealthy. Takes up way too much brain space.
I learned MY choices created an emotional 🎢 roller coaster with yo-yo weight and fitness. My forever goal is to maintain approx. 130lbs and IN SHAPE. Pretty clear that once I reached a goal weight I would then relax/ drift backwards. So glad 145lbs was the max over the last nine years.
I also noticed that as I age it becomes much, MUCH more difficult to lose weight. I could lose 15lbs easy in 8 weeks up to 2020ish … This is absolutely not true anymore!
While active with 🚶♀️& 🎾 it’s clear a ST routine is absent. Time to incorporate ST 🏋️♀️ as my TRUE focus.

Continuing to figure out maintaining, and to work on best nutrition and exercise.
History:Harry and Han are our cats, who travel with us. Have two “kids”, who are very much adults, a DGS, and second GS on the way. We have three parents, 88(father), 86(mother), 84(MIL) still with us, and I have logically been needing to help them more as they age. I got my act in gear during COVID, somewhat inspired by NOT becoming my parents. I lost 30 lbs and was exercising daily. Unfortunately, I am an “all in or not” person. Hubby and I seeing our family home and downsizing distractions, plus medical incident with my father and all their new needs, became an excuse (father has since passed and I am DPOA, Personal representative AKA executor, trustee, and oversee the majority of my mother’s care). A year and a half later, I gained 25 lbs and lost all my athletic improvements. I need to figure out balance and how to make health be a daily priority for life!

Day/Weight/Comment
1/17 – 128.2 Makes absolutely no sense BUT I tracked perfectly yesterday, and I actually solidly under ate. So, this is where I am trusting my tracking and not the scale and moving ahead with confidence.
1/18 – 127.4 So “yesterday” cleared up, just as I anticipated. Did I end up back at 127.2 where I started? No, but also last night I faced eating a meal that I could not plan for, and was one for which it was necessary that I not pull out the “I track my food”, a point which I normally am more than willing to share as I think tracking is awesome (remember I like data). DH and I were invited for dinner by the hard working, but divisive/temperamental, head of our condo association. He is French, so the meal was actually quite healthy, but I am sure somewhat more than my normal calories. Plus he served champagne, then wine (I rarely drink), and possibly the best steak I have ever had (note that I never order steaks in restaurants, so no restaurant steak to compare to). Anyhow, overall happy with the number. Was a nice evening, and no condo drama occurred, which was a concern (I’m sure it was a concern for him as well). Happy Thursday all!
1/19 – 127.8 truly surprised. numbers were good yesterday and when I got up this morning I felt great. I totally expected a nice “down”. Continuing with the trusting my tracking. As I mentioned, numbers were good and calories were not too high, not too low, and did include a nice walk yesterday, even though I have walked farther at other times. Tonight’s dinner is the same as 1/16. Let’s see if I get the crazy “up” again. Fun experiment!
1/20 – 126.8 Sooooo, the up on 1/17 was not due to dinner on 1/16, as I had the exact same dinner last night and dropped instead of gaining. The mysteries of weight loss/maintenance continues. Grateful for the drop. I am getting back closer to the range in which I would like to remain.
The “boys” (AKA Harry and Han Solo, cats) are doing well…. Finally. Han is dropping a little (11 lb 12.5 oz), and Harry (10 lb 13 oz) who had been vomiting and dropping weight, is gaining nicely. My preference for both would be between 11 and 11.25 lb. I doubt Han will ever see that but I will settle for striving to keep him under 12 lb. Meanwhile, Harry might actually get to these numbers.
1/21 – 129.0 Ouch! Yes, I decided to eat unrestricted at a restaurant last night, complete with cheesecake for dessert. Today, is back to normal. I’ll expect the scale to reflect normalcy again in just a day or two.
1/22 – 128.0 Starting to go down. Heading out for a fast walk this morning, then I’ll join the girls for the usual pace. Tracking for the day. Making sure I hit my numbers.
1/23 – 128.2 Calories and exercise fine. Scale not reflecting it. There is one other new factor that is going to play with the number, some higher intensity exercise. In my 2023 snowbird season, I was walking a lot and even running. After heading north, I even entered one 5k as a runner last May. Soon thereafter, my consistency was gone. In the past when I have done 5k’s, I have entered a couple as a walker, which goes virtually unrecognized, with people on the sidelines encouraging you to “run” because they assume you are a tired runner, instead of cheering you on as an awesome walker. WELL, I spotted a 5K that recognizes both runners and walkers next month, and I have entered as a walker. Trying to now step up my game. Yesterday I did a practice 5k before joining the girls. Looking at last year’s results, I would have taken second place behind a 40 year old male. Anyhow, point of the story is muscle fluid retention from the higher intensity. It will be playing with the scale as well during my adaptation phase.

@cchassee For me, maintenance has always been the most challenging. I speculate that this is because it is hard to find excitement in it.10 -

01/23 - 152.0 - Fast food weight dropped off! No TOM but glad to see a drop despite feeling a tad bloated with that on the horizon. No run, as planned, since storms keep forming over and around us - don't want to risk being outside in the rain if there's potential for a storm/lightning (which there is). Instead, I rode Peloton for a 30 minute advanced beginners workout (moving up!) and it was a challenge but in a good way - I had to use the same mental tricks I use during runs to keep going but I had the added bonus of the coach to help guide me through. Normal eating day so focus is on portion control and avoid snacking. I won against a snack attack yesterday: I wasn't actually hungry and the water I had been sipping on wasn't improving the feeling. After sitting with the feeling and analyzing it, I realized I was likely trying to use food as a way to procrastinate work since I was working on a tedious document. It was hard to ignore it, but knowing the reasoning gave me a bit more resolve and got me through to a delicious dinner.

Previous Day's Comments01/17 - A drop after low carb day and TMI. I was also able to get the heaters working long enough and good enough to get just enough flow of water for a quick shower for both BF and I. It wasn't thorough, but I don't feel so awful and gross anymore. No workouts until a shower is guaranteed which may not be until next week. We may be above freezing during the day, but we're below freezing overnight until Sunday (or so the forecast says) and our pipes have proven that overnight is enough to stop the water flow. I'm content to maintain 152.x for this round given the circumstances to start off. If I lose more, great! If not, maintenance is the goal. I've done well maintaining through the last 3 days so I feel confident I can manage going forward well enough.
01/18 - Not bad for a "normal" eating day! I made homemade (fully from scratch) ramekin pot pies. I made a full recipe and froze what we didn't eat last night for future use. I woke up with full water pressure this morning which was exciting. I had an early work meeting so I'm hoping through the day I can incorporate some bodyweight exercises to get movement in and take a mental break from the tedious work task I have today and tomorrow. Maybe squeeze in a run tomorrow. Even though it's a workday I can always start an hour later than normal and work until my normal time since it's an 8 hour day versus my normal 9 hours. Lunch today is low carb pizza rolls and dinner is bacon chicken thighs in garlic cream sauce with a side salad (possibly cauliflower rice if BF wants). Not fasting but likely able to push through until lunch with only my coffee (Ryze mushroom coffee, Vital Proteins powder (1/2 serving), and 1/4 Atkins Creamy Caramel protein shake as my creamer alternate)
01/19 - Yesterday was not ideal at all. I believe too much salt, but also simply eating too much. My poor tummy hurt by the time I went to bed. I've been so good about not overeating lately and I hadn't had that level of "so full my tummy hurts hours later" in so long I forgot how miserable I used to live. I'm glad it's over. Only managed one set of pushups and squats through the day which was less than ideal, as well. This morning includes wind gusts of 40-50mph so I'll be riding the Peloton instead. It will be my first time so going to take it easy to get back into the workout groove and also learn it. Rain every day except Thursday next week so running is up in the air again. I have a light rain jacket if it's only sprinkling but it isn't sufficient for a downpour. Due to living in the country, I need to take my phone and I have no good way to protect it in that kind of downpour during a long run. My 5k-10k app starts me off with running 10 minutes, walk 1, run 10 minutes, walk 1, and run 10 minutes before cooling down. May need to run on the walking pad or up the Peloton workouts to make up for the running a bit. Leftover soup for lunch (potato leek) and steak with sides for dinner. One of those sides will be a veg so I'll focus on the steak and veg to get back on track.

01/22 - Up today due to fast food. I was getting shaky and nauseous while we were out helping the boys due to missing breakfast and lunch and that was our only option. My tummy hurt all night last night due to it and I'm super bloated this morning. Hopefully it'll drop off again soon. Run scheduled for this morning. BF got up and did the Peloton. He has a work challenge going on (3 of our good friends locally all work for same company - it's virtual, too) so they're on a team. He said he has to get up and work out 15 minutes every day and get 5000 steps so he doesn't let the team down. Good! It got me out of bed at 515, the alarm I've been ignoring due to it still being too dark to run. It's good for me to get up and get an early start on the day anyway. Especially when it starts getting light earlier in the day as spring arrives. TOM set to arrive this week, likely in the next 2-3 days so scale may be bouncy. I'm mentally ready for that.

@SModa61 I used to love walking 5Ks and didn’t realize there are some that don’t recognize walkers. I haven’t done one since before COVID. I really need to get my bum out of the chair and to the gym!6

1/17 133.0 I’m pleased with this but expect it to go up in the next day or two. I wanted something with crunch and ate 5 saltines with butter. Back “on the wagon” but no idea what is the snack/supper they are serving at bingo tonight.
1/18 134.5 I was weak. Did great with sub sandwich - pulled all of the soft white bread out and used the crusts to make my sandwich, added onion, tomato and lettuce. I should have stopped there but ate 2 bakery cookies. I’m okay with this though. I should be able to get rid of that quickly.
1/19 134.0 Boing, boing, boing. I’m good with this. Keeping everything under control.
1/20 134.0 OMAD was later than I like (after 5) due to HOA workshop DH was conducting. Shedding may take longer than when we ate earlier. It is what it is. In 10 days I’ll be going on a 6 day quilt retreat. No meals provided. The ladies I’m going with try to eat low carb too and one husband will be playing “Uber Eats” for us.
1/21 134.0 Had a scratchy throat last evening and this morning I seem to have lost my voice. Sucking on zinc drops (SF) so my coffee tastes awful.
1/22 134.5 I feel as if I’ve been run over by a truck. How did my weight go up when I only had about 5 ounces of chicken and a small side salad? Ugh! Coffee still tastes awful.
1/23 134.0 Well, I should have taken my own advice and waited a day or two. I haven’t been sick in so long and I felt so miserable that I wanted a grilled cheese and cream of tomato soup. My ultimate comfort food. And I gave in. My DH, who at one time yesterday said I didn’t feel THAT bad, went to the store and bought bread and 2 cans of Campbell’s tomato soup. Today I feel much better. No aching skin and joints so far.10 -

I'm loving having this Peloton! It's been a workout-saver when the weather doesn't cooperate for me (:
My fandom falls solidly with the Colts but I grew up watching the Lions and I'm 110% cheering them on! This is an exciting time for them
Sorry your Bills lost, I was cheering hard for them to pull through

1/17 170.6 ok, maybe my scales needs new batteries. Or maybe I'm dehydrated. Or both. Ate well yesterday. No exercise. Finally got out of the house for some fresh air and sunshine. Slept ok.
1/18. 170.6 ate well. No exercise but ran lots of errands, so at least some movement and some sunshine. Slept long and well. I looked back over some weight averaging, and I've been losing an average of 2 pounds a month for the last 5 months. I guess thats pretty good for this stage of the game.
1/19 172 i think yesterday's pasta lunch is showing. Didn't exercise but got out and shopped. Slept so well. Loving my bed these days.
1/20 171.6 so the pasta lunch may be gone, but yesterday's donut holes are showing instead. Ate 85% healthy yesterday. Barely moved, it was so cold. Cold again today. 🤧 not sure we're breaking records, but they're digging them out to compare. Slept 4 good hours. Is this a theme today? Seems lots of us had short nights.
1/21. 171 ate 100% healthy, but baked late. No exercise. Did I really sleep that long?
1/22. 172.6 ? Ate healthy, under calories. No exercise. Another good night.
1/23 173.5. Earned this. Was hungry all day yesterday, so I ate. Tried to keep it reasonably healthy. Slept well for 5 hours. I was expecting that, too, since I slept so long the 2 previous nights. No exercise, but looks like it may be warm enough for a short walk today.

Well, I had good intentions this weekend of posting every day but decided that to make this a lifestyle change, I might benefit from relaxing a bit on the weekends. It's easy for me to focus during the work week and take a few minutes to update, but I think I want to live on the weekends. Now, that doesn't mean going overboard. It means making good choices, and listening to my body. And I will weigh in as I did this weekend for this group. But I feel like I need to try and enjoy the weekends without making them so focused on the food I am not eating. So in listening to my body, some days I'm not eating breakfast which feels a bit like intermittent fasting, but it's unintentional, and since I put a little sugar in my coffee every morning I'm definitely breaking the fast. But I'm waiting until I am actually hungry to eat, and trying not to eat when I'm not hungry. I go through phases where I can have so much self control and it doesn't feel difficult, and then swing to having no self control and being completely unsatisfiable. I want to try and keep track this time. Figure out if I can identify triggers, or if there are certain weeks (hormonal perhaps) that might play a part in my internal strength. I have found that when I exercise in the morning before starting work that it seems to curb my appetite and that's why I've been eating my first meal at lunch much of the work week. Thanks for being a safe space to just kind of process what's going on with me.

quiltingjaine wrote: »@SModa61 I used to love walking 5Ks and didn’t realize there are some that don’t recognize walkers. I haven’t done one since before COVID. I really need to get my bum out of the chair and to the gym!
@quiltingjaine I may be phrasing it wrong. Certainly my time was tallied like every other entrant, but the few I did, walkers were just mixed right in. This race acknowledges the top runners in a whole variety of ways, but also recognizes the top three walkers. I assume we walkers will be IDed in some way as "runners can walk, but walkers cannot run". I remember the 5k that I entered about 6 years ago as a walker and as I walk pretty fast I had passed plenty of runners. As I neared the finish line, I had people all yelling at me to "run" because they assumed I was a tired runner that needed inspiration. Was a bit of a bummer as, at the time, I was likely the "first place" walker (if they had recognized such an entrant) and not a low placing runner.
In terms of getting out of the chair without going to the gym, this thread has lots on inspiration. Maybe you will spot something there. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/comment/47802676#Comment_47802676

Nothing to report. 😊 I hope everyone in the frigid zone is warm and safe.

I did reasonably well yesterday, although I ate more bread than intended. Day by day. Off to get a little exercise shoveling the driveway.

Phooey. No idea why and I’m not going to worry about it. Just keep on with calories control, more protein, less bread.

It’s 3F this morning, feels like -15F. Lovely. I’m off in a bit to a friend’s house to knit in company for a couple of hours. I’m sure there will be snacks, but I’ll try to just keep my hands busy. Have a lovely Saturday, friends!

It’s a bright, sunny morning and 3F. But it’s supposed to warm up this week, so I’m looking forward to walks! Have a lovely Sunday!

Whaaaaa? Water. Oh, well, just plugging away. At least it’s a bit warmer—all the way up to 24F! 😊

I went out for lunch with a friend and instead of the salad I’d planned on had a breakfast combo—eggs, bacon, French toast. I didn’t eat any dinner, just an orange early evening, so I was barely over calories, but the bacon was very salty and I was a bit stuffed. We need to go somewhere other than this diner we love. Next week….

36 YO – 5’6” stay at home mom to two little kids
About meI'm in this for a third go! I'm struggling with motivation at this point in the year, but the 10 day challenge definitely helped - hoping to keep logging, drink more water and keep getting in all of my vegetables! I work out plenty but I'm having an issue with staying below calories. Two small kids and a husband who are always snacking is not helping. I lost 20 lbs last year, put 5 back on, and I don't want any more coming back! Hoping to lose 15 more this year.
