Cheers!7 -
My AF weekend didn't happen and trying not to beat myself up about it.
I had one glass of wine on Friday which is kind of a win because I stopped with one glass, not a bottle.
On Saturday I had two drinks in the afternoon (anyone else want to drink a beer while house cleaning with the music on?) and two glasses of wine with dinner. Yesterday (Sunday) I pretty much polished off a bottle of red. I was so disapointed in myself when I woke up. I dumped what was left down the drain.
Sometimes I don't even think about drinking and it's so easy and other times it's all I want to do. Ugh.

Get ready to hit the “hug” button for me!
I’ve been trying to shake off asthma symptoms from a prior cold (with meds). Instead, I got a new cold (or perhaps a relapse of the prior one).
I made the fateful decision to go to my spin class on Thursday and I feel like that set me back a week: I’ve felt sick ever since and have spent a fair amount of time on my back. This has now gone on and off for more than two weeks total. Doctors everywhere shrug their shoulders and say it’s very common to be sick for 14 days. Well, it still sucks!
Anyway, I’ve not touched a drop of CH3CH2OH since last weekend. I’m dizzy enough as it is!

@OllyBooBoo - I want to ‘encourage you to stay your course, because I think we have ALL been in your shoes so to speak! Each day is a new beginning, yesterday is past!7

Decided I wanted a productive Sunday after 2 glasses of red wine on Saturday night. Washed beloved Labrador and all the bedding in the house, then vacuumed large area rugs and cleaned the refrigerator. Oh and cleaned the shower floor, always fun lol. When the house is in order I tend to feel more in order.
No wine last night!

The hardest part for me has been when I'm watching TV and the characters drink on the show. It seems to be pretty prevalent in most shows.
I still think I can make it through February since I have nothing planned this month. I'm not sure what my goal should be for next month but the first 2 weekends of March will be tough with some events. The longer I go in February without alcohol the more stressed I get about March since I'll be breaking what is becoming a longer and longer streak.
It's crazy how much you notice when others are drinking when you're trying to stop or cutback. I believe it's a mental connection that we make over time but it also impacts like WHAT I feel like drinking based on the show...totally feel this one and it's usually one of the reasons I go over on the weekends. It's not out partying, it's the easy glass of wine that turns into 2 during a show/movie.
Excellent work on February! You might be surprised how you approach it once you get back to the point of drinking in March!
Omg, yes! I didn't realize it until you said it but when watching some shows I get cravings for beers, when watching others I get cravings for scotch.4 -

So far not drinking during the week has been no big deal!6 -

It was easy being AF yesterday because of a slight hangover. We'll see how the rest of the week goes.3 -
Michieb125 wrote: »Admittedly, I had a really rough week with some family issues. My anxiety skyrocketed a handful of days and I know I had wine to try to relax. Did it work? Sort of. Is it helpful? No, because it’s counterproductive to reach my Health and wellness goals. Things started to settle down yesterday and I am going to give it all I got to make up several AF days in a row this week.
I hope the family issues get resolved soon. I admire your ability to get right back on the horse.3 -

For me, I know it's the AF lifestyle that is driving my weight loss. I am making healthy choices and I feel really good. I did however have planned champagne for Valentine's day and but I went right back to my "normal" fruit juice nightcap drink the following day and will keep up "my new normal" to make it to month-end.
My motivation now is to get to 144 by month end. AF all the way
I am so inspired by this! So happy for you!

Big hug! Oh that’s miserable, you poor sick thing. Feel better soon!!!3 -
I took an aerobics / strength class yesterday, and OMG I needed to take a nap afterwards! Totally different than playing tennis, I can tell you. Starting This week I am making an effort to get in at least two more exercise sessions above and beyond my tennis, because I really need to do strength training so I don’t lose musculature.
Starting in April I will be on 2, possibly 3 tennis teams (two are on the same day, but because the roster is so big, I’ll maybe play for each team 3 times) I’m looking forward to that.
I think I may finally be ready to go AF during the week again! Tonight will be the test. Last night I had one glass of wine. There was another half glass left in the bottle, but I did not finish it!4 -

I was forced to give up the red wine a long time ago by lower GI (posted many times— pardon). My wife still loves it. Now, we’re minimizing (not giving up) red meat, which begs for it.
Lately, I’ve been making a spicy stir-fry when I want beef. You get lots of beef flavor with less beef. And we’ll serve it with a baked potato to get more of the beef vibe. It’s pretty fning good, actually. A good AF drink with it is Reeds ginger beer.

Had one glass of wine while making dinner then switched to sparkling water. Ate a balanced dinner and didn't eat too much or snack. The scale was down a bit this morning too so that makes me really happy and not regret my choice to have a glass. Buying the four pack of mini bottles help with sticking to one glass.8 -
Happy to see everyone’s positive LA stats thus far. May you continue to find your best resolve.
Regarding my recent family situation, thank you to those who commented with support. I really appreciate you for being part of my LA journey for a full year now. It’s been kind of an overwhelming few weeks, and now some professional help begins today for those extremely special family members. My personal faith continues to carry me through this hard time.
I’m packed and ready to leave on a mini girls trip. The scale finally showed a loss of 2.5 lbs. and I’m smiling about reaching that goal. I did have unplanned red wine last night but definitely AF tonight to be clear headed and feel good in the air!

Hello all my LA friends
I have good intentions to post more often but time just seems to slip away!
This past 7 days I had 2 beers and 1 glass of wine. I call that a win.
Wish I could wine instead of whine but the knee and toes osteoarthritis is doing all kinds of dancing with pains. Going to the Y every day is helping some days. Today we did not go, but tomorrow I will go and get back in the pool/hot tub/sauna. Dr. has put me on new med's I started Wednesday. Side effects....oh things like well if you want to look it up for yourselfs (Otezla). But so far 2 days in and nothing yet LOL
I have to say everyone is living each day and being mindful of your consumption ...making the decision to have alcohol or not to have alcohol. This is such a wonderful thing. Well done!9 -
I had one AF day this week, only because we were out of wine. But, I didn’t miss it! Tonight will be AF because I signed my husband and I to play mixed doubles tennis at 8:30 PM. At least this week I’ve been consistent about getting in those additional workouts, which I’m happy about. It was fairly easy to do.

Friday is here and I needed to check in for inspiration. I'd love to be sitting here reading these posts with a large glass of wine and a steak right now and my brain thinks it's a delicious idea. Actually, a big fat breakfast with mimosas sound spectacular but it is only 6:30 in the morning and I need to go out for a run.
Yesterday was really tough. I woke up at 2 am with insomnia, went to the gym at 5 am (yep, figured may as well hit a class since I was wide-eyed) and on my way back from the gym I stopped at the supermarket at 6:30am to pick up 2 things for my husband and my brain was screaming loudly to buy wine. Attack from the wine devil. I didn't buy any, but I was like where the heck did this come from?
I suppose lessons learned - no store trips in a fasted, exercised and tired state and I did something outside my routine. I did cut out the daily chocolate habit so wonder if that was a contributor.

This is not my best effort but I am trying not to be too hard on myself because negative self-talk is actually not productive. I'm going to try to finish this month with at least 15 AF days.
I can relate to so many of these posts here but one in particular stood out to me. I can go days without wanting or thinking about alcohol but other days, I can't wait to finish work and open a beer. Those are the days I need to practice better mindfulness, distract myself and wait out the impulse.
I have noticed/realized that my discipline has waned in many areas of my life since 2021 when I was attacked by a dog. That left me unable to use my right arm and hand for several months which affected my well established exercise routine. Even when I could resume exercise, it was limited due to pain and immobility. Then last year, I was hospitlized with life-threatening pneumonia. Between being in hospital and recovery at home I was again unable to excercise for several months again. Now I have re-gained my mobility and health and am not in pain daily so have been working on building up my routines again.
Hopefully, practicing discipline in one area will help me in other areas.
I hope everyone has a strong finish for February!

I decided to give up wine for Lent and since wine is my most common A drink, it seems to be helping. Today is hard because I always drink on Fri, but not today. I could go for a non-wine A drink but I don't feel like it.3
