Good running @kgirlhart . I'm with you about being more afraid of being bitten by a little dog than a bigger one. My mom always says that it's not the barking dogs you have to worry about, it's the one's that sneak up on you that are more likely to bite. She may have something there.

After a long weekend in London and a day being super tired due to being back at 1am I tried running again. Hmm.. still not totally again but less pollen in the air overall. Walked about 45km in London over three days, including 2 travel days.

This month is pretty messed up for me. I think I am back on track now, but the month's goal isn't happening. I have signed up for a 5K race next month. It is right in town and I am looking forward to it.

Nope. I prefer cricket to rugby but haven’t watched a game in years. I prefer to do than watch - I barely ever watch tv or movies. But I am married to a passionate rugby fan so know far more about that particular sport than I’d ever want to know.

I worked with eight 2-3 year olds today. They were a bit of a handful at times, but very loveable.

I had planned to go for a couple of miles during my break, but I didn't sleep good, once again, so opted for a nap instead. I did walk a mile on the driveway after I got home, before eating dinner and going to church. Busy day.

I got the results from my colonoscopy today. See the spoiler if interested.

No polyps-I already knew that. Repeat the colonoscopy in 5 years due to grandparents having colon cancer.

I did test positive for H. Pylori bacteria and have "quite a bit of" inflammation in my esophagus, probably due to acid reflux. They gave me a couple of antibiotics and an acid reducer to take for two week. Then, in another 3 weeks, they will do a breath test to see if the H. Pylori is gone. If so, I'll have a twelve week course of the acid reducer. It's going to be a pain to figure out how/when to take those meds because one of the antibiotics can't be taken within two hours of taking magnesium, zinc, or calcium, or eating anything dairy - all of which I am taking. Also, I can't lay down for at least an hour after taking it.

I hope the 2 weeks of antibiotics gets rid of the bacteria. I'm pretty sure I've probably had it since I had the stomach flu 3 years ago. Ever since then, I've had a burping problem and never did before. That is actually one of the symptoms of H. Pylor.

It was a beautiful morning for a run at 57°F. It was a little windy, but not too bad. It was dark when I headed out, but light when I got home. I love being able to run as the sky lightens in the morning. I didn't see any loose dogs today. I did see a skunk, but he was just crossing the road. I felt like I could run forever and went 7 miles.

@ContraryMaryMary thought I'd ask lol. Rare to meet a kiwi thats not into either/both! Have seen the ABs on a couple of occasions when they've been at Twickenham. Saw the 'friendly' mauling against the Springboks just before the World Cup.
Love to visit NZ someday (been Aus!)... and do the cricket and see the ABs (might be a bit ambitious, given sporting seasons etc!).

I am running the London Marathon in April @daria0919 . I can't say this week was any better, arrived in work on Monday at 7am, ended up with a 36 hour shift to get a job completed. Topped of with a complaining e-mail from my boss's boss about why things are taking so long. Quite honestly £"€& 'em! So no exercise at all this week so far.

Thanks @TheMrWobbly . I can't imagine working a "36 hour shift" to get something done and then have the boss's boss complain! I would feel like telling them "where to go" too! I hope you can get some good rest and then a little exercise to keep yourself healthy. Curious - what is your job?

I started taking the meds this morning. I hate reading about all of the possible, horrible side affects. It makes me wonder if it is worth it and I know that I'll be on edge all day today, thinking every little thing is a possible problem. LOL If all goes well today, tomorrow should be better, as far as the paranoia goes anyway.

Hi everyone! Got in 10.5km today. Was feeling full of energy after a much needed off day for recovery yesterday! Some parts were so muddy and slippery, but I stayed upright and mostly dry with my goretex shoes, despite running through some deep mud and puddles. The sun is supposed to make an appearance over the weekend. I can’t wait!

219.5km/200km for February.

A very sluggish, “I didn’t feel like doing it but training program said so”, 3.1 miles outside this afternoon in 60 degree nice weather.

Didn’t sleep well last night.
Have been stressing for a full week because I had to have a biopsy done last Thursday and finally got results back after my walk today. Happy to have gotten good news. More testing to figure out what’s going on, but I can handle that. Didn’t want to say anything until I got the results.

Barry Marshall, one of the doctors who discovered that the H. pylori bacteria caused stomach ulcers lived next door to me back in the mid-late 80s. I pulled this bit off of an article, but there’s lots of other info on him and what he did. READ ON to see what Barry did:

Barry J. Marshall and Robin Warren, two Australian researchers who discovered the bacterium Helicobacter pylori and deciphered its role in gastritis and peptic ulcer disease, have been awarded this year's Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. The Nobel Assembly at the Karolinska Institute has honored them for their unexpected but paradigm shift discovery [3,4] that revealed that gastritis, and ulceration of the stomach or duodenum, were the result of infection with some curved Gram negative bacilli.

At that time when Warren and Marshall announced their findings, it was a long-standing belief in medical teaching and practice that stress and lifestyle factors were the major causes of peptic ulcer disease. Warren and Marshall rebutted that dogma, and it was soon clear that H. pylori, causes more than 90% of duodenal ulcers and up to 80% of gastric ulcers. The clinical community, however, met their findings, with skepticism and a lot of criticism and that's why it took quite a remarkable length of time for their discovery to become widely accepted. They had to just push it harder and harder with all experimental and clinical evidences. In 1985, for example, Marshall underwent gastric biopsy to put evidence that he didn't carry the bacterium, then deliberately infected himself to show that it in fact caused acute gastric illness. This 'self-help' experiment was published in the Medical Journal of Australia [4] to describe development of a mild illness over a course of 2 weeks, which included histologically proven gastritis. This extraordinary act of Marshall demonstrated extreme dedication and commitment to his research that generated one of the most radical and important impacts on the last 50 year's perception of gastroduodenal pathology. Their research made H. pylori infection one of the best-studied paradigms of pathogen biology, paving way for intense and hectic basic and clinical research activity leading to about 25,000 scientific publications till date.

Today was a "me day." My "me days" are days I am setting aside, one a month, to work on things that I have been putting off for way too long. I was proud of myself for saying "no" to working at daycare. Today, I typed in mom's stories for her Storyworth book. I got that all done and some pictures scanned in, but we need to edit what she has written and maybe answer a few more questions before I submit it for publishing. Still, I did what I set out to do.

Afterwards, I went out for a driveway wun. It was 67F (19.4C) and partly cloudy, so a great day for shorts and a t-shirt. I was a bit tired today, so only did a 2.25 mile wun. My avg HR was 132 with a max of 148 bpm. I was trying to keep it under 140 bpm. It only went above for the last 5 minutes, when I really wasn't paying attention.

So far, I haven't noticed any side affects from the new prescriptions. I hope it stays that way.

@daria0919 You did great getting out there when you really weren't feeling it. I'm so glad that the biopsy results were good. I hope "they" can figure out what is going on quickly and get it "fixed." That's a cool fact and article about Barry Marshall. He was very brave to do those things to prove to everyone he was right and help out all those people who have benefited since then. Was he a nice guy or too smart to talk to?

Great running @SummerSkier . A couple of weeks ago I heard my heat pump running when it was really warm in the house. I thought, why is my heater running. I looked and the AC was on!!!! I had to set it so that it wouldn't come on until it got to 85F or so. The sun shines on the thermostat in the mornings and makes it think it is hot.
