Afternoon ladies
Alfie back ,going to pick up scripts and then out with Trudy for happy hour.. then back home and a walk with Alfie..3 -
Rebecca--Glad you got your son off with no problems. What a great month of memories you have. Your youngest GS looks so happy. I agree 40 years is time to do somethings special. Ours will be in Nov.
Debbie and Machka--Happy B-lated Birthdays!
Tracey--Great mews on your 100%. So proud of you.
Rosemarie--Pray your trip goes well, sounds like a lot of fun. As for the friendship I hope they understand and give you the space you need.
Got a letter from the insurance company and they are raising everyone in Nebraska deductable to $2000 for any kind of wind or storm damage, do to all the wind and storms lately. Not happy about it, but what can you do as have to have insurance on the house.
I understand the feeling of doing things a lone we used to do as a couple. I am trying to come up with new things and it is not easy.
Ginny--What a great picture of you and the grandbabies. Glad the visit is going well.
Well it was interesting weekend. Saturday we went to breakfast with our geocaching friends and then went to Omaha to the big World of Wheels car show. Then on the way home about 70 miles from home we hit a deer. It was so strange as DH seen it and stopped it was standing on the side of the road and looked like going to head down into the ditch and last second turned around and jumped on the front of the car. It was a good size one and did a lot of damage. So DS and wife came and pickup us up. Left it at some friends house. Insurance sent tow truck to pick it up this morning. DH told them they needed to pickup key first. But they didn't tell the driver, so he calls once he is there. So he had to come back to town and get the key and go back. I do not have a good feeling about this.
Was late and I was upset when we got home Saturday night and with time change we skipped church. Then for lunch we met DS and wife and DGS and baby for lunch. As we are sitting there about 25 people from church come in for lunch. So much for that. Did have a nice lunch and fun with the little one.
Back at work today. Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE where the temps are 60-70 the next couple days.
Yes, my heart is settled, and it feels good. Its nice to feel truly happy. I deserve it, for the months and years of anxiety. He has already called once since he left on Feb 26th. I did mention that he did not have to call every week, but every so often is fine enough. He even made a contributing text in our family's group chat, that was nice to see. His little two cents worth. He knows he's a part of something important.💖
Yay for us this year, yes 40 IS important.💖👍🏼

Debbie--For $2 it will be fun to play with.
Pip--I am excited for you and the Alaska cruise. Someday I would like to do one.
Lisa--Understand how you feel. We have to be our own eyes and ears with doctors.
Carol--You give a lot to this group. Your experience and comments are important to me.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE4 -
Vicki - Thank you. Sometimes all we need is to know someone hears us...
Carol - You were here with this group when I got here, many years ago, and you're a valuable voice. I love to see you chime in, and you're a part of the continuity of this place that I love.
Yoga done - and two hours of work in the yard. Got the walk-behind mower out and the front area mowed, which always makes me feel quite accomplished, and several large pieces of wood moved to the burn area. The wind is up, so no burning today. Time to jump in the shower and scrub off the grub.
Later, y'all,

Just got back from the lunch with my cousin. I only had a fish sandwich and beans and rice. But I feel so (even) uncomfortably full. Now waiting for the guy about the bathroom to get here.
Lisa – sometimes you have to wonder about medical people.

Did a Cathe DVD then walked on the treadmill. The plan for tomorrow is to do an Extreme Cardio DVD
pip – that cruise sounds awesome. What a great time to go. How long will you be gone?
Debbie = I’d LOVE to have that tree. You paid $2 for it??? If you have a problem, I’ll buy it from you
Heather – that’s so nice that you send that message to your son
Off to lunch with my cousin and then later today (after 5) the guy is going to be here about the bathroom. I can’t wait, I think maybe Vince can. We shall see….
Michele who won’t get to lay out in the sun today
I will remember that when I try and put it together.
If I can't figure it out, I will gladly ship it to you and split the shipping on it.
I have bought three Christmas blow ups and two Pikachu blow up costumes there. The most I paid was $4. We have been going on Mondays and that is the $2 day. Sunday is the $4 day and we have only been a couple times. We have gone on Friday(the first day of each week for them) and everything is I think $10
It is crazy looking through the bins but fun finding bargains- dh is looking for bases and frames for his 3D printed Godzillas. We purpose when we can. His best was his largest one- used a moveable monitor/tv mount and one of those trays that go on the arm of a sofa for snacking(that was the "frame" and attached the mount on the back- put the Godzilla on it with lights and sound. Sold it for $150(and he thought that was a crazy high price that no one would pay because he didn't really want to sell- had three people want it.Thought the price was great.

I did my fifteen minutes on my bike and ten minutes walking! Yay!

It doesn't apply to me so much, because I live with my father who could never remember advice like that. We are still working on him wearing pants. What kind of weight loss comments do you all find helpful?
So skipping ahead to day 11, it talks about the purpose of food. Again, not very useful. I eat a great baseline menu by habit, then supplement that with emotional eating and choices that don't align with my goals. But I've been good this week.

I've also done a lot of reading ... when I'm not outside being active.
One of the things my family did together was to cycle from where we lived to the library in the middle of the city. We'd get a whole pile of books and load them into our panniers (saddlebags for bicycles), and cycle home. We'd do that every 3rd Saturday when the books came due again.
Regarding comments ... I'd rather have no comments at all.
When I was on a mission to lose weight, I told no one so that I would get no comments at all. Of course, at a certain point my loss became obvious and all the comments came out of woodwork. So I just had to tune them out and carry on.

Allie - it sad that Carmine won’t get anything for her birthday because of her behaviour. To me, the two should be independent of one another.
Lanette - the pain between the shoulder blade could also be contributed by the way you hold your head when, reading, using your computer, etc. I know when mine starts hurting it’s always that.
I agree with the doing stuff, I much prefer to be actually moving things around and getting weights in that way. I don’t have a way of moving things here that gives me enough of that.
Sue - what happens if she doesn’t vacate on that date? Does the lawyer have police escort her off the property? I’m just curious, I hope it doesn’t come to that.
Machka - Those are all exercises I was given for my hips and back. They sure do help.
I would absolutely love to do so much more. He is a homebody and doesn’t step out of the house except for work or the doctor. I have a few times in the last year gotten him to go to Costco with me and he will go to a hardware store. He doesn’t like going to visit anyone, and if we do go he’s anxious to get home long before I’m ready.
He does enjoy our camping trips, but o would like to even go out for dinner once in a while.
He seems to like it best when I’m home, but I refuse to not “live” my life, and sitting here watching endless, useless tv drives me crazy. He cant have a happy wife kept at home, I’m too social.
It’s funny because one of the things I loved about him was his adventurous side.
Heather - glad you are feeling a bit of relief. John’s card for Bea is awesome!
Vicki - The accident sucks, what a blessing you were stopped though and not driving into it.
I would hope that the church group understood you were still allowed to go out even if it wasn’t to church.
Pip - I have no interest in any cruises, except that one. Have so much fun!
Debbie - that’s a nice find.
Machka - I need a new mattress, we were discussing getting a firmer one this time.
Lisa - it seems that everyone has the same complaints about medical concerns and having to remind them to look at things. Sometimes it’s really annoying. I think it must be something in the way things are electronic now. I remember when my doctor wrote in my chart, she would look back and see things, and remember. She struggled when things became electronic and at one point said to me “it’s not right there on the screen I have to go looking for it.”
Annie - Like Machka I don’t particularly want comments from people but I really love all of the advice, encouragement and chit-chat we have on here.
Well I got behind and it took me three days to catch up.
I am taking a certificate course this week that is outside of our regular school. It’s wonderful!
Today we learned about behaviours. So very interesting!
We learned that there aren’t bad behaviours that there are distressed behaviours and the way that we interact with children could be causing the distress that is causing the behaviour. I wrote 11 pages of notes! I could listen to this lady all day.
I’m working on getting my pictures into albums. Kaitlyn and I organized from 1990 to 2022 on Saturday. We didn’t go to bed until 230am.
This weekend she is coming to go through my childhood pictures and maybe start some ancestors including tin pictures. I think I have a picture of my 3X great grandfather.
Well I should sign off and head to bed.

Lisa, like you I have had issues with using chicken breast in stir fry type dishes as it always seems to dry out and while I don't have as bad a reaction as you do, it's still unappetizing. Then I found this recipe, on Facebook of all places! I've put it in a spoiler as it makes this post a little long otherwise.2 chicken breasts (I use 1 approx 8 oz breast)Tracey, you are rocking that course! I can feel your joy coming thru the pages and I'm so happy for you that you will have the training that will enable you to get a job that you will love and find a great deal of satisfaction in! Good for you and Kaitlyn organizing all those photos!
1 tblsp soy sauce
2 tblsp veg oil
1 tblsp honey
1 tblsp salt (I don't use nearly that much! Maybe 1/2 tsp)
pinch black pepper
2 tblsp cornstarch
2 cloves garlic
Cut up the chicken, bite size. I do cut it a bit thicker these days, don't know if it helps prevent the drying out,( but in my mind it does!)
Mix the other stuff together, add the chicken and let sit for a few minutes. Now the recipe said to cut up a red onion and lightly saute it. When that was softish, remove and add the chicken to the pan and cook, stirring often. When the chicken is cooked add the onion along with a red and green pepper. Mix all together and cook 5 min or so, til peppers and onion reach the desired tenderness. We don't like peppers and onions, so I substituted carrots and broccoli. I was amazed at how good it is, it's my new fave!
When you cook the chicken, it will stick to the pan, even in a non stick pan, this is because of the honey. The good news is, it comes off easily enough, I just let the pan soak for a bit to loosen everything, then
into the dishwasher it goes.
Heather, have you tried doing quad stretches? I was having trouble several years ago, but the problem was in my hips not my thighs, but my massage therapist figured out that my quads were really tight and they were pulling on my hips. I started doing more quad stretches as well as hamstring and IT band. It made a world of difference and I continue to do them all now. Just my two cents worth.
Vicky, that accident certainly would add a great deal of excitement to a trip! I'm glad that the only damage was to the vehicle. I would also like to think that your church family would understand your need to get some additional rest even if it was on a Sunday morning!
I know there's more that I wanted to comment on, but the hour is late and the memory is shot!
Hugs for those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to any new gals!

Today’s gratitude: When Joe announced he was taking both dogs for a walk across the lane I asked if I could join him, if he would wait 10 minutes for me to get dressed. Instead of making a face, he said “Yes,” We had a great walk! We’ll do it again.
Welcome @Julieann404 ! There are gals here from all over the globe (Terri in Ireland, Heather in England, Machka in Tasmania, Tracey/Evelyn/Joy in Canada… etc). Some of us have such weird sleep patterns (I usually snooze from 9pm to midnight Pacific time then up til 2 or 3 then back to sleep. . .) you can never tell who will be online and when
Carol the caring you offer this group shines out from your posts.
Tracey I too would like to go out to a meal with Joe once in awhile, but is just is not worth the battle. As eldest of five he eats FAST and then is ready to leave. I prefer a more relaxed and social pace so content myself with the occasional lunch or coffee with pals.
Evelyn thanks for your chicken stir fry recipe, will try it next week after I finish off the last of today’s variation on Ginny’s balsamic crockpot chicken.3/11: Move mins- wii:13 PT:0 d:0 x&a:0 dogs:0 line dance class:104 Jeopardy walking:41 Steps:8108

First run this year! First run in a while. Definitely not the fastest run in the world, but it was a run.
And then walking on the beach ... mostly in the water. It was high tide and there wasn't much beach to walk on, but that's OK.
And then cycling!! Longest ride this year!!
Feels great to move!

Good Morning, I am scanning the notes. I plan to listen to an audio book and head to the rescue around 10. Then this afternoon I will drive an hour to get to the Bed and Breakfast and stay 2 nights. I am very excited to get out of town. I hope the weather is warm! I am looking forward to meeting new people!

Good morning ladies!
I took my Dad to the doctor and his thyroid was normal. So it really helps when I give him the pill, even though sometimes it's too close to food. Yay!
Unfortunately the old doctor is leaving and neither of us can understand the new guy. So I have to call and change to a different doctor today. I have about ten phone calls to make for various reasons. It will be good to make progress on all this stuff, even if the calls are draining.
For example, I had called the department store before and told them my mom died. So they cancelled her card, but then they sent a new one.
And I need to make appointments to take the car to the dealer, and go to the eye doctor (routine). Lots of stuff to do, before I start my course in April.
Tracey you are doing so well at your school! I love your enthusiasm!
I love the support and encouragement I get on this forum. I feel a little more awkward about comments in person, but they don't really bother me. Except my lunch buddy, who sometimes tells me I don't need to lose any weight. He is a large person. But I just ignore that. I really don't get many personal comments no matter what I do.
One thing that bothers me is sharing food at restaurants. My ex boyfriend was fond of passing plates around and everyone gets a taste of everything. It's very friendly, but you lose all control.
The sunrise has such gentle pink and soft blue colors today. I'm enjoying my tea before those phone calls.

In my book, 100 Days of Weight Loss by Linda Spangle, day 12 is about not eating junk food. I'm pretty good about that. Day 13 says not to skip meals which is sort of the opposite of intermittent fasting. I think logging is the key, because you can look back and see whether skipping a meal saves calories or not. Of course, you shouldn't get so hungry you have headaches or binges. I usually skip dinner and it generally doesn't bother me. I can feel a light interest in food, but I can resist it.

I slept all night in the same bed! I was a bit tossy-turny by the end of the night, but did drift off now and then. This morning I was not so painful. Yesterday evening was really awful, like really, so I doubled the painkillers. So, I was pleased this morning. Still resting, using heat, doing v mild stretches of back, hips, quads. Really listening to my body. Still doing upper body strength work. So far, so good.
I rang the sports clinic and increased my appointment to one hour from the 45 minutes i originally booked. I don't want to feel in a rush. I think they do some hands on stuff.
John had severe indigestion in the night. Gaviscon didn't work, so he got up and had milk and shortbread biscuits. I didn’t hear him.
Dim Sum for lunch. Smoked salmon, peas, and Philly pasta tonight with broccoli.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx4 -
I did my fifteen minutes on my bike and ten minutes walking! Yay!
