Anybody else always try to start off new health habits on a Monday or 1st of the month? That's me. Good news, this Monday is the 1st. No excuses. As previously posted the other day, the 1st starts a no sugar challenge for me and glad that there are other people to join with other challenges. Please let's keep in touch so we can help each other stay motivated.
Don't let April slip by. Let's make it the best month yet!!!4 -

I'm kinda throwing in the towel for March and getting my head right for April. Good news, I'm still doing better than last year.
My husband introduced some new drinks. I'm not blaming him as I can say no...but I didn't. And it's so easy to return to that daily wine pour.
@dmally1 ~ Sorry for your loss.
Congrats to all who are still showing up. Even with a few misses, just showing up proves you are mindful and will get to where you want to be.
@forestdweller1 ~ yes, your daughter is correct. Just delete, don't click, don't call, don't respond. You may also get an email with an "invoice" attached...ditto...just ignore/delete.

I'm in. No snacking after dinner for me. Can't wait!5 -
@ahoy_m8 so happy you popped in during this very challenging time. Been thinking of you!
@itladyee I love what you said about showing up here even when it’s difficult for whatever reason.
I’m personally looking forward to a new month, April! Admittedly, March brought some extenuating medical circumstances for my family that I had no control over. I also learned a lot about how deeply I care which isn’t a bad thing.
Yet, I am ready to look ahead to set new personal goals around what I need and want in this journey called life!

Yes, I always start/restart on Mondays/1st of the month. For instance when I got back to taking care of me, I planned to only walk during March. Then, I planned to add weight training in April which was exciting to me that the first day of April was a Monday. It just felt like a sign from God I was on the right track! It’ll probably be a little harder to convince myself to start running instead of walking in May though… LOL
Unfortunately, I won’t be joining you in the no/low sugar challenge. I don’t eat a lot of sugar anyway, so I don’t feel the need to eliminate it from my life. Example, I made brownies yesterday. I had a large crumb that must have fallen off one of the brownies my husband ate. This morning the pan was in the sink, and I didn’t have a single brownie nor cared that I didn’t have one. I’m more of a potato chip girl… eat the whole bag of chips, and WW3 will ensue!6 -
Went out for a nice early dinner with friends. Had one cocktail (Manhattan straight up-- delicious!). Went to a show and to bed much later. Still had difficulty sleeping!
Can it be that limiting alcohol lowers tolerance that much?4 -
I love that I found this thread. I have been AF Su to Th for the last 2 months and only have a drink or 2 on one night of the weekend most of the time. Thursday was a hard one to quit it was like the pregame habit to welcome Friday.
Then enter Spring break and I was hung over after 4 (5?) wine drinks last Saturday and it spilled over into Monday 2 drinks and then Tuesday out with a friend 2 pints. I'm back on track with a dry weekend and reassess my goals.
I would think the thought of a hangover and dealing with 4 kids during spring break would have been a deterrent...

Went for Mexican last night with hubby and his friend. Kept wanting to order a drink, but didn’t because nobody else did. Probably not the best decision-making style as it’s basically “following the herd”, but it worked last night in my favor. So, I’ll score it a win for the book! 🙂
@ericanahnahnah I used to do that a lot too. Now, I have 2 of the 4 out of the house. Reset and get back on track.❤️4 -
I relate to all the previous comments about having wine or an alcoholic beverage of choice to relax while watching a movie, or show at night. This has been my routine with DH for several years! That’s when I normally have my wine a few nights a week. But, DH quite drinking altogether almost 10 years ago! I want to incorporate some new habits in April that will create a different evening routine - at least during the weekdays. It’s going to be a challenge because I am normally on my feet all day until 7:00 p.m., then sit down until bedtime at 10:00 p.m. Need to think this through.
Will definitely be back for the month of April! Happy Spring, and Happy blessed Easter to all my LA friends!5 -

This has been my lowest A month in a very long time! I expected to lose some weight, but I found myself eating more, especially sweets, so no weightloss but I feel great anyway.6 -
@tmbg1 great job on the AF days! The weight loss will eventually come.3

Per the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church, DH and I are attempting the Paschal Fast, fasting all of Good Friday through the Saturday Easter Vigil which will end about 11:00pm Saturday. So, if there is no food, there is definitely no alcohol.
@MissMay thank you for starting the April post. I will be back! 🙂 This post and great group of people made my attempts to lower my alcohol consumption an attainable goal. It’s nice to know I am not alone in the struggle.3 -

I second that, See you all there!3 -
March was the most challenging month I have had in a very, very long while…..
I experienced too much stress over some very serious things I can’t control, and good decision making around LA was no where in sight on those tough days.
For me, Easter is the perfect weekend to start making those smarter choices.
See you in April!5 -
Here is a list of foods for those that are interested in watching your sugar intake for the month of April.

I am really dreading Monday morning. Not because of the challenge, but because of taking before photos. I am so ashamed of where I am, but I think taking a photo before, during, and after will keep me motivated.4

We are having lots of family over today. I usually drink wine when so many are over, but I just fasted for 2 days. I have no idea how my body would react to alcohol right now. So between that and being 1 day away from finishing strong on the 5-day challenge to finish up March AF, I will probably avoid the wine today. 😁
Happy Easter LA friends! ✝️⛪️ Jesus Christ has arisen today! Alleluia, Alleluia!4 -
Happy Easter to everyone!
No big thing today for us, after church I am going to roast a roast LOL then do some light work around the house. It is foggy and not a great day to be outdoors.
Anyway just want to check in on my LA friends.3 -
forestdweller1 wrote: »@SparkSpringtime69 ...Your "lousy Food Lion " has done you a gigantic favor by denying you AF wine. I'm not a beer drinker by choice, but the AF beer choices far outshine the nasty [IMHO] AF wines. Kim Crawford LA wine seems to be quite drinkable. Good for you on keeping your A days to a minimum. 👍👍
Didn't even have AF beer last night. Forgot, and had tea from my peppermint garden instead.
Boy were you right - the red I got didn't just taste like grape juice, but watered down juice at that.
I did get a sparkling white that wasn't too bad, although a bit sweet for something labeled brut. I also bought a Sauvignon Blanc, but haven't tried that yet, probably tonight.
The AF beer is definitely a better tasting product.

Well, I blew it last night and didn’t meet the 5-day AF challenge. I was sitting there watching a movie last night and decided to have some wine. I had 2 glasses and went to bed.5 -

My accountability for March:
3 Alcohol days-5 drinks total
28 NO alcohol days
So proud of our March group.
See you over on our April thread https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10912614/less-alcohol-april-2024-one-day-at-a-time#latest6 -
Had some drinks while at easter dinner yesterday with family.
that makes:
AF:28 Days
A: 3 (3/1,3/16,3/31)
had two cigarettes during the 31 days. worked out 25 of the 31 days and had delivery only 3 times (buffalo chicken wraps are my weakness).
Down 10 pounds and feel better about the stress of "needing a drink"
Congrats to all for getting through the month, the number of days with and without dont matter; it's that you tried, took accountability and tried again.

March is history! I'm finding my alcohol tolerance is waning as I'm working to reduce my consumption.
Last night was a case in point. I split wood for a couple of hours, came in and drank a huge electrolyte drink (plus creatine), then had a strong (8%ABV) 16oz IPA with dinner. I really enjoyed the beer and felt great, but the second I turned the light out (hours later) I got a sharp pang of heartburn. I took a couple of Pepto tabs and then slept OK.
Geeze: can't a fella have a beer every now and again after a hard days work!?
Final scorecard for March:
A: 8 (most achieved < 2 servings)
AF: 23
See y'all on the new thread. Is Miss May getting tired of setting these up yet?4
