Good morning! Just found this thread, so I this is my first post (although I started on this journey April 1).
I am quite likely the oldest person here (79). While I would like to lose the post-pandemic (plus a few more) pounds, my main focus right now is on making good food choices, with an emphasis on an anti-inflammatort diet. Second is to reshape my exercise regimen. I retired my last horse a few months ago and have not really replaced that exercise with anything else, although I do walk my dog every day. The final focus for me for April is to see if i can improve my sleep patterns. So, basically focusing on habits vs specific weight loss goals.
Looking forward to the daily accountability that this thread provided and to getting to know my fellow April travelers.

Hello I'm Darlene. Retired, 63-year-old. Married (Greg), one adult daughter (Allyson), and one goldendoodle (Monty). I have been on this weight loss journey since January 2023. I found MFP in March, and this group in April. April 1: 152.8 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ซ๐ฆ๐ I love the beginning of a new month. Feels like a fresh new start; a clean slate. I have noticed a pattern in my weight loss. I do fantastic the first week of every month, then I kind of get lazy and for two weeks and the weight loss slows. Then I see the end of the month coming; and Yikes - only one week to finish my goals. I usually finish out the month strong. This month I'm hoping to skip that laziness in the middle of the month. Keep me to it!
April 2: 152.4 ๐๐ฃ ๐ ๐ช ๐ฆ๐๐ง I added a new goal to my monthly, I will post whether I was under my daily sodium goal. It has huge affect on my daily weight flucuations, so if I am accountable for it, maybe I won't abuse it so much. Had a good night with Mom at bingo, she won (always a good thing), and I won twice last night. Had a brownie - put me over my calorie limit.

April 3: 151.6 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐งโโ๏ธ๐ซ๐ฆ ๐ง Silly me, I looked back at my entries - they should have been 152.x not 154.x. I guess I was stuck in that 154 range for so long last month it just got stuck in my brain. I fixed them. Dentist appointment this morning - not my favorite.
April 4: 151.6 151.6 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ช ๐ฆ๐๐ง Busy day ahead today. We have to bring the car in for it's oil change. Then off to Sams Club for shopping. Then the grocery store to pick up all that we need for our Easter celebration this weekend. It's going to be rainy (and snow) day today, so inside walks and a HIIT workout are on the schedule. Then tonight going to a fundraiser for the Women's club/Firehouse. Hoping I won't binge too much.
April 5: 152.2 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ซ๐ฆ It's what I expected, had a little too much fun last night and the salt gets me everytime. I estimated and logged what I think I had - and MFP says I am under my calorie goal, but I'm not counting it as completed. I did manage to meet my exercise goals yesterday. Today's goal - get my outside walk (it's blue sky today), then some strength training, and a little treadmill tonight. I made a vow that I wouldn't watch any of "my" shows unless I was on the treadmill. I'm binge watching Jane the Virgin, and I have an episode of Ghosts that are calling my name.

Not enough water and no TMI today but I still expected to see a bigger drop as my swings on the scale are usually dramatic. I guess Iโll practice the character trait of patience today. In other thoughts, will winter ever end in Michigan USA?
04/05-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)-This is my no-weigh Friday. I rarely weigh on Fridays due to a special and different schedule. I made tacos last night for son, visiting foodie daughter and grandson. I know how sodium filled that is so I plan on drinking plenty of water and flushing it out today. Today I plan on making Spaghetti. Everyone else will get regular pasta, I will use โspecialโ magic noodles to minimize the calories and carbs. The challenge will be staying away from the cheese filled garlic twist bread.

4/04: 116.4 Yesterday was my first bad day at work in a long time and I was so exhausted I got takeout for dinner. I still ended under calories, but dinner was heavy. Tonight will be another gardening webinar and the start of my weekend!
4/05: 116.0 I got to hike around a little bit yesterday morning, but it was cold and so windy and it even snowed this morning! I'm trying to plan some routes I can walk when the weather is good. Lots of options close by, but I'll have to fight my anxiety to walk past a few homes to get there. Maybe I'll be so happy the weather is finally nice I just wont care! ๐3 -
So excited. We just book a last minute overnight trip to Burlington, VT for Monday to see the total eclipse. I have never seen one, so should be very fun. Ordered my eclipse glasses - there are five in the package - do you think Monty will wear them? Nope - doesn't need them. Animals are smarter than people - they won't do something that is going to harm them, even if it is cool to see. We'll keep him in the car for the event.6

@iLive2Walk Have fun viewing the eclipse. I lice in Indiana, within 45 min of the totality. Waiting to see what the weather will be before I decide where to go.
Day 5 - food choices good, 11,000 steps (which I got to split into two walks since it didn't rain all day. Sleep was ok, not great.
Off to friends house tobelwatch the Purdue Final Four basketball game tonight. Lafayette is astir with excitement as this is the first final four in 80 years! Am taking food that will allow me to continue to make good choices.4 -

April 6: 153 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ช ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ฆ๐ I had a little set back yesterday - I think the thought of Easter preparations, and the small trip for two days led me to self sabatoge. Over on my calories, and sodium - not a good combination. I did track it though.

04/05-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)-This is my no-weigh Friday. I rarely weigh on Fridays due to a special and different schedule. I made tacos last night for son, visiting foodie daughter and grandson. I know how sodium filled that is so I plan on drinking plenty of water and flushing it out today. Today I plan on making Spaghetti. Everyone else will get regular pasta, I will use โspecialโ magic noodles to minimize the calories and carbs. The challenge will be staying away from the cheese filled garlic twist bread.
04/06-181.6-(Trend Weight 181.3)- I started having some serious problems last night with a few of my end toes swelling up and becoming extremely painful. First they bunched up and then they became similar to inflamed. I am having a hard time walking. I know I didnโt step on anything but as a diabetic and former smoker I am concerned. I am having a hard time walking. There is no hospital in my county at all, but there is a hospital about an hour away and also a walk-in emergency clinic. I have no idea which one to go to or if that walk-in clinic has machines or equipment to check me. It definitely feels like Iโm not getting blood flow to the toes and part of the foot. If anyone has medical knowledge and/or opinion on which one I should go to I would appreciate an opinion. In the meantime, my weight is up a bit from my last weigh-in two days ago. I am not proud right now. It is still down a little from challenge starting weight, but I know how much better I could have done if I had applied myself more. Iโm hoping to make some pretty big numbers go away in the next challenge. Oh, the best laid plans of mice and men! Will I fail to plan or plan to fail, as they say?
