Rebecca it sounds like you know your eldest sister well. I wouldn’t want to welcome all that “help”ful meddling, and while I love dogs, in your position I’d have to respect my husband’s objections. If you let her know Tucker could not be in the house (for many reasons, you’re renters, your husband’s health, etc not that you have to excuse yourself) would that dissuade her? If not, then some humorous meme about how you like your yard exactly as it is and can we talk about something else? ((hugs))

Kylia surprised and delighted about what your SIL said. Would she be willing to tackle one or two of the things on your list? Documented HR policies for vacation, sick and lunch times would be a good place to start… and could be adapted from templates available on the web or from your library. Getting buy-in is another thing :devil:

Michelle hope just a scratch, no bruising or swelling near your eye. When I fell and broke my glasses, an x-ray showed a tiny crack in the orbit bone around my eye. Fortunately it wasn’t displaced, no surgery needed, and healed on its own. ((hugs))

So today my sister called me and we video chatted. It was her husbands birthday, 2 years since he passed, and it was a tough day for her. We cried and I hoped I helped a bit. We talked about how he would be so proud of her, how she's handling things. Later in the conversation we talked about summer travel plans. I told her I had kind of done my travel quota for the summer, and was just going to lie low at home this summer. I said with all her camping with her family, that if she wished to come visit, without the 5th wheel would we easier, just with her truck, that would be great. That if she could put Tucker in "doggy daycare" (which he loves and is quite the celebrity), that would be great. I told her in a sing song voice that she is not allowed to weed my property, buy plants or dress me. We talked a bit of me feeling judged, and that I mostly go along with it, because I don't know what to say. We cried more, and we both agreed her mothering is stemmed out of love, not a controlling thing. I need to know that there's nothing negative she just likes to treat me with a new shirt for example, not that she's telling me I dress poorly. All in all a very productive chat. She had started saying, "how long have you been stewing about all this". She knows me all to well! I said, " since you had called me last week with dates I could come down".... 💖. I love her to pieces.

Ack! The toxic tenant sent us a text saying the WA state nurses union was now involved. I'm not sure just what she wants or how stupid she thinks we are but there is no such organization and she couldn't belong to it if there were. She is not a nurse. Also they would only deal with employee matters not civil matters. This woman is crazy.

Can you get up off the floor with no hands or one hand?

Can you get up off a toilet seat or relatively hard chair with no hands? Legs & core strength.

Can you climb up at least 16 stairs (one residential flight)

Do you have grab bars in your bathroom or toilet room?

Do you have railings in and around your place where you need them?

Could you get in and out of your place with a wheelchair?

I went out to the shops this morning, to get things for tonight's meal. In the deli, the owner was back after a couple of month's absence. He was so shocked to see me hobbling.

He said, "I think of you as the most healthy, active person I know! "
He has a bad knee, so we swapped stories.
I also went to the butcher and the general shop. Hard work, and a lot of discomfort. I put a heat pad on, but it doesn't appear to be heating up! I had my trolley with me, which gave me some support. I'm thinking about getting a rollator, like the one Machka showed. Seems a lot of money for seven weeks, but it would enable me to go further and on the bus. Not sure whether I would need it after the first hip, which is much the worst.
I'm looking forward to tonight. John will help me get organised, but I can do the prep sitting down.

Stressful couple days in the lead-up to another job interview today. My 3rd in recent weeks. I've gone through quite a few of these in the last couple years. They're all different, and most throw me a curve-ball somewhere in the mix of questions. Each one is a learning experience.

All the interviews here are in front of 3 people, so it is kind of like doing a short play in front of a small audience.

Rebecca when my sister came to visit mom, she reorganized and decluttered cabinets as a way to get rid of nervous energy. It was very helpful. But she went through my Mom's stuff, not mine. I'm glad you had a chat with your sister.

Margaret Yay for better health! Your diet is really working for you!

I'm rather disgusted with myself over evening snacking. I put all my goals in jeopardy over some extra food. Even after all the book work. It's only three hundred calories or so at a time, but I do it often enough to sabotage my plan. Oh well, water under the bridge. Might as well forgive and move on.

I have a busy day today. We see the lawyer which is a point of stress. I was promised I would inherit the house, but I don't see that in the will. It just says tangible personal property which doesn't include real estate. What a mess it would be to inherit the contents and not the house!

My house is in good shape except for the stairs and the wheelchair access. My uncle could get up the two garage steps to get into the house with his walker, but it's an obstacle. Many houses over here are built about two steps above grade, so the front door and the garage have a few steps.

I can get up without my hands but it's an effort to get my feet under me. My dad was surprised at how difficult it is to get up. I can't remember why he was on the floor. Maybe when he fell.

My next house will be main floor living, if I can afford it.

I am currently not enjoying night sweats and how small cheese portions are when you actually weigh them rather than guesstimate.

I am a serial dieter and have a lot to lose. I work from home and have caring responsibilities so do not go out much.

Machka ... where did I miss you are interviewing for a new job? Same organization you're currently with? Good luck!

Carol ... I had sleepless nights when I lost both my son and my dad and again here when I realized that I'm "losing" my mom. So much to come to grips with when we experience loss of any kind.

Annie ... this meeting with the attorney would be the time to review and revise your dad's documents... Clear up things like the house and discuss with the attorney your dad's "age and beginning confusion."

Met with my mom's doctor yesterday. She talked to my mom for a bit, but it was so very difficult for my mom to converse with her. Trying a medication to help with her mood ... nothing to do for the dementia
... and starting a prophylactic for the UTIs. My mom had no recollection of her fall last week or going to the ER by ambulance.

I'm staying home today. Just need a day with no commitment.

I mentioned it on Page 1 under March Highlights: 3 job applications and 2 interviews. Now 3 job applications and 3 interviews with more to come.

I am employed permanently by one department, but a year ago I was seconded back to my original department for a 2-year term. I'm 1 year through the 2-year term and if I want to stay with my original department, I need to start applying. It's not urgent because going back to the other department wouldn't be the end of the world, but it's a great opportunity to toss my hat into the ring for whatever interests me.

And who knows where all this might lead!!

It's exciting ... but also a bit stressful.

Yes Annie have your dad make you the beneficiary of the house. If there is no beneficiary it could go into probate and that will make everything take longer and cost a lot more money! The process can be frustrating enough without adding that. I am glad you caught that so it can be resolved. Yes it is a pain to involve a lawyer and not cheap but since it is the house it will save you thousands in the end.

Lisa in AR: Can you put the fern in it’s pot in the planter? Then you could lift it out when the weather got cooler and bring it inside. My ex and son’s actually do this for their plumerias.

Rebecca: Yes! I actually try to focus on the fridge because the food in there is more perishable, but I am noticing that my pantry is become more of a staples/ingredients place rather than a “food” place.

Barbara: “Instead of sitting bathed in tire scent, took walk.” This made me laugh! Auto shops do have that distinctive tire smell, don’t they?

Grandmallie: That’s a lot of eggs! Call the Midwife is such a good show!!

Rusty: Welcome! I don’t enjoy night sweats either, especially with a few furballs near by. And cheese. Seriously? That is totally not fair. There have been many times, I’ve consider if I could just eat my calories for the day in brie.

Machka: I make myself get down and up from the floor five times a day. Mostly because I want to be able to do it when the grandson’s are around. Sometimes with hands, sometimes with out.

Watching my food, but purposefully exercising has been a bust this week as I try to pack and get ready for my trip.

I’m giddy with glee! I gave up a digital SLR camera over 12 years ago. Lately, I’ve been missing it. I ordered one and it should be here today before I head to the airport! I feel like a kid at Christmas watching the FedEx updates. I may have to look into a photography class or something, it’s been awhile.

I have been eating everything sweet in site since the panic attacks/medicine reaction. It seems one of the withdrawal symptoms is depression. I do not want to take any more of this type of pill, so need to get a handle on this eating spree. Focusing on the positive things I’ve done for myself through diet should help. I just need a good cheering on. You all, give me some encouragement! Thanks for listening to me in my moods! Nice sunny day today, so should feel better. It still amazes me how overcast and/or rainy weather affects my moods! One of the main reasons I moved here to New Mexico, because of the 300 days of sun instead of 300 days of clouds in New England.

Do you all remember the “Paint with Water” books? I stumbled on one while looking at coloring books with pictures from Thomas Kinkade. They made the instructions and sample pictures look so nice, so I bought it to give it a go. Mistake. These are not any better than the ones when I was a child. In fact, I remember those as being a LOT better than this one! I’ve tried 2 pictures so far and am not happy with them at all. When the first one dried, I used colored pencils to fix it. The second one, I will do the same. The so-called water lines definitely do not have enough paint in them. Pics of the 2 below.
