Barbie - Well done on getting all the paperwork done! Getting our trust completed was incredibly satisfying. Knowing my husband won't have an issue after I'm gone (or vice versa), knowing my kids won't have an enormous legal headache to deal with. All of it matters. Still got some bits and bobs to clean up, but the big stuff is done.5

Kim ... hugs ...
Today is the family meeting to discuss my mom's dementia and deterioration. I'm not expecting any surprises. Memory care is in her future. I have since learned more about the memory care unit within her assisted living facility and it I'm getting positive feedback. So that's a plus.

Topic for today is the Soleus Pushup (SPU).
Have you heard that it's good to walk for 10 minutes or more after every meal? Helps metabolism and burns calories, right?
Check out what I ran across this morning: the calf muscle - soleus - actually snatches glucose directly from our bloodstream and helps stabilize blood sugar and fire up metabolism.
https://stories.uh.edu/2022-soleus-pushup/index.html
The SPU gives those of us with pre-diabetes a helping hand to keep insulin stable without pulling on walking shoes or climbing onto the treadmill, bike or elliptical if we're stuck sitting for a while. Or sidelined due to painful feet or other mobility issues.
Pretty cool.

Spider story, feel free to skip. I’ll put it in spoiler, just in case. It is funny tho……When I lived in CT the first time, we had 22 acres of land and the house was set back in a clearing in the woods. I was dating my soon to be second husband, who had brought his 2 girls over for the weekend. All 5 kids (4 girls between 8-13 years old, one boy at 8) were sitting together on the floor watching some TV show. All of a sudden, a spider dropped from the ceiling on one of those long web strings. It slowly let itself down between the kids and the TV. I had never saw so many legs, arms, and kids fly by me screaming at the top of their lungs! I finally got one to stop and tell me what was wrong. My son (of course the boy) pointed at the living room, laughing hysterically about the spider. I had to pull myself together and get the spider and send it outside, then had to dispose of the web before any of the girls went back to their TV show. I don’t think they ever sat on the floor in front of the TV ever again after that. My son thought it was all great fun.I must add that this happened in October, not long before Halloween! 🎃🤪

Today is a day to celebrate people who build, work on, and man submarines. My son works on them where they build them.

Lanette - Thanks for the soleus pushup - You'd think with that kind of backing study, it would be more publicized!
Annie - Well done!
Rita - Congratulations to your son, not an easy job! Wasn't going to tell Egg that it's National Pet Day, because I'm pretty sure she thinks we're the pets and she's the owner. 👀🙄😀🐈⬛
Got my Country Girl Yoga 🧘🏻♀️🤠 done, changed up a couple things to improve the flow, like doing the leg lifts on one side, then the crunches and reclining stretches, then the other side leg lifts, and then the seated stretches. Makes more sense for the body movements. 35 minutes.
And then... I was able to schedule my appointment for the first infusion of Skyrizi - a week from tomorrow! I'm so grateful for the VA medical care at times like these, as this drug would cost me more than $100,000 for the first year of the prescription if I weren't with the VA. It does mean three medical appointments in three days, but I've had worse weeks.
Dinner's decided already - Corey sent me a recipe he wants to try for dinner, a queso chicken and rice dish, so I've pulled out a chicken breast. Sounds yum. I'll cut up the chicken before he gets home, as he and I have distinctly different ideas of what "bite-sized" means. 😀
I'll jump in the shower after his lunchtime call - I do have my acupuncture appointment at 1:30, so I've got to get out of the house by 1 p.m.
Later, y'all,

Lisa Yay for Skyrizi! Is there an adjustment period for your body to get used to it? Is there a users group?

Michele-Yes, I'm serious about looking for a job at the zoo. I did look the other day and there is one that might be interesting for me. What I don't like is that even for part time jobs, they require union dues. I'll think on that a bit more and keep looking.
If not there, then I'll peruse other options.

Barbara ~ So glad you are keeping in contact with Katla. Thanks for filling us in on her news.

Lanette - Those soleus pushups are highly recommended in my pre and post op exercises. I do them a lot.
Edie was terrific, as usual. We idly chatted for a while, while she ate the posh crisps I'd bought for her, and we had cups of tea. She divulged that she has been eating the delicious crusty bread at school, with no ill effects! We promised we would not tell her parents, but didn’t let her eat the chocolate digestive biscuits she was angling for. Her parents want her to go another year before trying gluten.
She also said that some children at school were talking about her being 'rich ' because they have a big house, and it was her best friend that had started it. We chatted a bit about that, but it's the start of her being aware of her privilege, and being able to deal with that. These life lessons are never easy.
She suggested we do some doodling, so we had some random fun and I printed out some colouring for her to do. I haven't quite finished my doodle.
My son was very late because the trains were terrible with the overtime ban. Many cancelled. She was quite happy, playing games on my phone. So, I'm seeing her again tomorrow morning. Heaven!
The doctor who rang was very much in my wavelength and prescribed three days strong antibiotics, because I'd caught it early. Last time I delayed too long! He said I'd done the right thing.
Went and got them, my BP meds, and some old-fashioned 'Deep Heat' ointment. Lots of ibuprofen, which j can't take often.
My new 'hands free' slip on trainers arrived,. Perfect. I'm wearing them as slippers. Also the valance sheet.
So, all good for the moment.

I have a question for Ginny or those who have made her Crockpot Balsamic Chicken. Is the chicken bone-in, skin-on? It just says "full chicken breasts."
Barbara-Thanks for the update on Katla.
Lisa-I'm so glad to hear you may get some significant relief soon. I know nothing about Skyrizi, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it works for you.
Tina in CA2 -
Tina - Thank you for that. I appreciate it when others do the hoping, as I'm trying to keep that tightly reined in.
Annie - Have found a few groups that talk about their experiences with Skyrizi and Crohn's, but found that medication groups, as a general rule, tend to be filled with those who are unhappy. The ones that it works for don't tend to go looking for support, I guess, so the groups tend to feel quite negative. And the most common side effect at the outset appears to be fatigue. Few people begin to see results until after the second infusion, in the five- to six-week range, apparently. It has a 32% remission rate, which doesn't sound good, but is twice that of its nearest competitor.
I did not have time to get in the shower but did go to acupuncture. She was so backed up, after being closed for three days, that I waited a half hour and was no closer to being seen, so I canceled at the desk. There was only relief on the girl's face, so I knew it was a good idea. I will probably be canceling completely. Much as I enjoy the interaction, it does not seem to be doing any discernible good for my pain, and I'd pretty much planned to go in and tell her it was my last visit anyway. I rescheduled in two weeks, but before that point, I'll just cancel that appointment as well.
The wind's died down, which I appreciate.
Later, babies,

Tina-I use skinless, boneless chicken breasts for all things chicken. All-the full breast usually refers to both sides of the breast (two of them)
Lisa-I think you make a valid point about who tends to stay in some of the medication groups.
Made it thought the day. Next task-I must pull together documents for taxes-I know I put them somewhere before my children came . . .
Take care all,

More adventures in home renovation and clockmaking:Sunny weekend coming up, so Corey will want to be outside working, which is fine with me. I think if I do go to acupuncture today, I will get some paint to get started on getting the carport painted as soon as I'm done with the two walls.
At this point, I'm planning on painting it the same deep teal color as that wall in the sunroom - which is the outside wall of the house in the back. At least I think we are. Need to talk to Corey - we might want to go with white under the carport to match the trim and teal just on the outer walls. But with three doors, a large brick chimney, and a window under the carport, it breaks up that teal expanse pretty well. Worth thinking about. He'll be talking for his good morning call in an hour or so, we can decide then.
This is a quick look at the wall I was working on. Already wiped down most of the spider webs... (yurk)
Also need to get five gallons of paint strained to use in the kitchen--and before that, I need to go through and get all the dings and scobs on the paint in the kitchen hit with some caulk. While I plan to paint the wainscoting beadboard the same white as the rest of the kitchen, I'm thinking about painting the railing around it teal to match the cabinets.
Lots of thought, not much action yet this morning. Last night I got a little creative, doodling around while I was watching TV, and put this together. It's an illusion - the "quilt fabric," is an image, which I glued to the canvas. The frame is from a thrift store. Just having a little fun with stuff...
Not sure what else the day holds, but looking forward to it...
Later, y'all,

Love the clock. I made two squares YEARS ago of that "Cathedral Window". No clue what ever happened to it- It took a bit of time to get it right but so pretty when it was done.
Got to walk the wetlands today(plus walked MIL's dog)- over 13000 steps already today.
Weather was very warm. Glad I had changed my shirt to a tank top. Even that was a bit warm. Last Thursday we had rain/wind/hail. Cooler tomorrow and rain back on Saturday.
Pretty good step wise beings I am back on nebulizer treatments again. Asthma is really kicking my butt. Between that and insomnia, I got about 5 hours of sleep last night
I transplanted more veggie plants from my kitchen table into the green house. Have more that are ready to move out there- hopefully tomorrow.
Lost our latest addition(cat) two nights ago- Not sure when he snuck out but he didn't come for dinner and hasn't been seen since. He is an inside only cat. I have been checking with the neighbors and going out each evening looking for him. He is not fixed(planned on getting that done next month-he is just 6 months old or so) plus didn't get along with two of the other cats so not sure why he ran away and isn't around in the yard. We make sure there is food out in three places so if he does come back, there is food for him. Not giving up on him but not looking good. DH said he is upset because he loves the cats more than people but at least it was this one that he wasn't really attached to and not one of the other ones. He is the one we spent $800 the week after we found him when we had to take him to the emergency vet(he got meds and sent home and was fine the next day)
things have been pretty calm with MIL and Dh-so thankful for that. Yesterday was a bit rough for him. He found her original will where it said he got nothing, his brother got everything, unless the brother died first. He heard that is what was in it the day after his brother died but had not actually seen it.
She was in a bad mood- talking about giving everything to the homeless or who ever. She does this to get on dh's nerves. She sees how hurtful she can get before he lashes back at her, that makes her happy.
I talked to my mom last night. She still hasn't ordered the soil for the greenhouse so nothing is planted. Should have been planted 2/1/24 so the garden could be planted 5/1(that is what dad always did).
Again, she said she was going to go in today(said that last week too). I am not pushing too hard and will take up all the extra plants I have started so at least she will have some things ready to go in close to on time. I told her I will be up when ever SHE is ready. My nephew is coming out from CO in a few weeks to work the ground.
Found out from one of my childhood friends that her grandson who turns 6 today still has tumors in his brain- have been fighting them since he was about 18months old. They had shurnk but now there are 4 and one of them is right behind his eye. Will be doing more chemo and radiation.

Lisa My experience with acupuncture was that it was delightful, peaceful, and relaxing but had no effect on my pain. I stopped because it was so expensive
BarbaraThanks for the news about Katla
I thought going to the bank would feel great putting the new Wills in the box until I discovered how many hoops we have jump through to give our new personal representative access to the box after we die. It's always something

Its been a busy day!
Barbie - have you recorded the Community Property Agreement yet? Once that's done, I don't think there's any hurry to grab the wills. My DH's will was void after he died as the Agreement took precedence and everything passed directly to me. As far as the other legal documents, I think photocopies are OK. I waited until after DH had passed to record the Agreement - and discovered the recording fees had skyrocketed. Right now I have my own will in my safe here, but I'm thinking I might give it to my executor T to put in HER safety deposit box if she's willing. She's the one who'll need it anyhow.
Will try to catch up tomorrow. You ladies have been busy and interesting!

So far, nothing special today. Vince’s new tractor was delivered. It’s raining off and on so I probably won’t get to go for a walk
Annie and everyone else – I’m just fine, thanks for asking. We’ll probably take the car to be fixed either today or tomorrow
Kim – what a day you had. I can understand why your mother feels the way she does, but that’s really no help for you. When it rains, it pours, eh? Hugs, dear friend
Leslie – welcome. Don’t feel that you have to answer each an every post, just the ones that you are interested in and want to. No one answers them all
I got in the car this morning and, boy, were the headlights very bright. I’m questioning now if for some reason for the accident was that the automatic headlights weren’t working
Rusty – flowers sound like a real good treat. Honestly, I don’t know if I could do that. I’d probably want to stop for a milkshake or an ice cream.
Got Jess 3 of the 1qt serving bowls which came the other day and 1 of the 2qt ones that came today. I’ll give them to her for christmas. The serving bowls she has are chipped. She really needs something nicer
Debbie – I’m sorry to hear about your cat. I hope he comes back soon. Sorry to hear about your friend’s grandson.

well, spoke too soon- MIL and Dh got into it today, really bad- Fighting about everything(all stupid in my opinion). He came home in such a bad mood. Cussing like crazy(this is something he knows really bothers me)- F-bomb every other word. Thankfully he is calming down back in his room.
Wonder how things will be when we go over to his mom's in the morning.4 -
Lanette my concern was about our daughter if we are both gone. I have everything and know where everything is. No, we haven't recorded the community property agreement but the original is in the safe deposit box and copies are in our house

Our wills are with our lawyer. They'll also do the executor tasks, or assist with them if necessary.

Good morning ladies!
There must have been an animal in the yard because Teddy was barking like crazy. I let him out at 5:30 in the morning. I'm sorry for the neighbors but I can't stop him from barking. He is usually quiet. I could stay in bed until six.
Debbie I'm sorry about your little cat. Hope he is okay.
I weigh 178.1 today, down .7 from last Friday. The right direction but slower than I intended. Hmm.
Today I need to start looking at my Dad's beneficiaries. If I can get those changed, we should be able to avoid probating his will when the time comes. Everything financial passes to my sister who will split it up. Still, a daunting task.
Then Dad has physical therapy at 1:20. So plenty to do. It's supposed to rain.
Have a fabulous day, my friends! May you be happy, healthy, safe, and free!

I posted a photo of the front stairs of our new place, but said there are two other ways into the house that have fewer stairs ...
Looking from the gym into the laundry room ...
Onto the deck ...
It wouldn't be difficult to build a ramp onto the deck.
And an experiment ... a little "painting" with paint-like pens ...

Good morning from Yorkshire England
I am in awe at some of the arts and crafts people are sharing on here. I am not the slightest bit crafty but I do enjoy painting with acrylics from time to time. I have ideas but am sadly lacking in application for anything crafty. My skills are more culinary and may be a contributing factor in why I need to lose so much weight!
I weighed this morning as I am starting with Mounjara weightloss injections today and wanted a baseline. I have a looooooooong way to go to get anywhere near a healthy BMI and although I am not too concerned about the numbers on the dial it was nice to see that the scales are moving down.
1.8kg / 4lbs down since Monday and although I know it's mostly water it still made me smile.
Anniesquats100 a loss is a loss as they say so well done!
My husband provided the flowers to cheer me up and i am just about to call the social worker.
My eldest arrives for the weekend tonight and is bringing a girlfriend home for the first time so that's going to be nice.
Hope you all have a lovely Friday7
