...an ideal running temperature.Just still figuring out what I want to wear. Compression socks or short socks? Tank top/T-shirt/long sleeve base layer? I know in the end it won’t make a difference, but I want to make the “right” choice .
Good luck!9 -
Sorry to hear about the loss of your grandmother @eleanorhawkins.
Good luck @Laurz9191! I think a long-sleeve shirt in that temperature for 26 miles would be too much for me. Do you have an old long-sleeve shirt that you can start in over the top of a short-sleeve or tank and then ditch the long-sleeve after the first mile or two?
Good luck and have fun with your 5K @Daria0919!
Glad your neck is doing better @quilteryoyo.
I'm off on another hiking adventure this weekend. Hope everyone has a great one!7 -
Enjoy your hike @Teresa502!!3

Thanks @tarun_yadavA . Great running.
Pressing my thumb? Never heard of that before. Nonsense to me. But, if that is what it takes @Laurz9191 , You've got it. Sounds like great conditions for the marathon. Can't wait to hear how you do.
Good luck on your 5K tomorrow @daria0919 !
Thanks @Teresa502 ! I hope you have great weather for your hike. Today is really windy and cool, but tomorrow and Sunday are supposed to be great here. Hope that is the case where ever you are going. Looking forward to hearing about it.
Good luck with your running program @yirara !
Great running @AlphaHowls . Did I miss something as to why you are staying up on the balls of your feet? The wind is awful here today too.

24.50/65 mile goal
I got up early this morning with the intention of going to the gym, running some errands, and running once I got home. But, I had tummy issues instead, so am mostly lounging on the couch. I did go down for a treadmill walk early this afternoon and have felt better once I finished. At this point, though, I'm just going to call it a lazy recovery day and pick up again tomorrow. My neck is a little better than it was yesterday. I can still feel it, but pretty sure I could play tennis if I had to....which I don't have scheduled until Sunday afternoon. Almost full range of motion.6 -

No, just working to stay up and see if it makes a difference in the back pain.

We have had beautiful weather the last couple of mornings. I managed a short pre-work run yesterday. Today I went to Pilates. I can already tell I will be sore tomorrow.5 -
The weather is supposed to be about 15C or 59 Fahrenheit Sunday, so that is warmer weather than I’m used to, but pretty much an ideal running temperature. Just still figuring out what I want to wear. Compression socks or short socks? Tank top/T-shirt/long sleeve base layer? I know in the end it won’t make a difference, but I want to make the “right” choice .
I would vote tank top. Compression vs short socks are such a personal preference. Temps seem pretty nice but will feel warm after several miles. Good luck!!4 -

I forgot to post my run yesterday, so I am posting two runs today. I got out a little later than I needed to, but it was a lovely morning, and I ran 6.3 miles. It was perfect running weather and I was disappointed when it was over.
Today I ran 6.5 miles. It was another perfect day for running. I didn't get up great again, but once I got out the door I really enjoyed myself.

Thanks for the tips everyone! I will try to post a race picture with my final clothing selection . I already did my run this morning. 5km on the treadmill in my hotel. Maybe not the best place to run. The workout room was in the sauna area and it felt what I imagine “Texas humid” to feel like . 69.5/200km for April.8

I'm not normally an excitable person and yet I am so buzzing about your race @Laurz9191 - no pressure but you carry my hopes and dreams 😂
Any news on @7lenny7 ? Is he still recovering from his hundred miler?
A quiet weekend for me. My BH is off work for once so going on a jaunt.
Have a great weekend everyone!10 -
Hello everyone!
Got in 7.49 (at 09"39)
Good luck @Laurz9191 ... You're gonna kill it!

Thanks everyone. It came out of the blue and has been a huge shock... literally days from diagnosis she was gone, no time to get there. To me the fact that the funeral will be more than a month after she passed is also horrific, here in Spain it's all over within a day and a half at the most.
I truly dislike the UK and although it will be good to see my dad, I still struggle mentally with how much the cancer and brain surgery changed him. So yeah, probably going to be grim. I don't fly home again until Saturday afternoon so I'll probably go and do a local parkrun to cheer myself up a bit. @tarun_yadavA fancy an early morning and a slow parkrun in Crawley next week? Lol

@martaindale I hope you aren't too sore today. Sounds like you had a great workout.
Glad you had a couple of great runs @kgirlhart !
Enjoy your jaunt @TheMrWobbly ! I've been wondering about @7lenny7 too.tarun_yadavA wrote: »Good luck @Laurz9191 ... You're gonna kill it!

Did a driveway wun after running some errands this morning. I wasn't sure how much I would run, so put it all together, but, using the charts, I split up the part that I ran more than I walked and the rest. So, the running was 3 miles in 42:03 min for and average pace of 14:01 min/mile. Overall, my avg HR was 147 with a max of 171 bpm. I wasn't huffing and puffing, so not sure that was accurate, but it did have me above 160 bpm for about 11 minutes. Splits were 14:19, 13:39, 14:04, 15:15 and 15:32.7 -
I finally got caught up on reading. @eleanorhawkins I'm so sorry about your grandmother. I think it is harder to wait for the services.
@Laurz9191 Good luck on your race!

Longish run today. I managed to get out the door before it got hot so it was a pretty pleasant run. It’s warming up this week and it will be pretty toasty this weekend for the races. Luckily I was prepared for that and chose costumes that will be comfortable in the heat and humidity. I predict lots of folks from northern states struggling through the 10 miler and people who overdress because they underestimated the humidity.

Hi everyone!
The marathon today was great! I got a PB which was over 36 minutes faster than my best marathon and finished in 4:19:33. There were still a couple rough patches (mentally) but I had fun through the suffering . If you’re interested my race report is below. So I went with shorts, tank top, and compression socks (not necessarily sure I loved the socks, but there was no going back). The weather was perfect, a bit chilly in the corral, but I only had to wait about 10 minutes before getting started.
I tried my very best not to start out too fast. I would say I was mostly successful with this and ran the first half in 2:03 (ok maybe I was going a bit too fast). At one point we got to run past the top groups of elites as the circled back. I thought it was really cool to get a chance to see them in action.
The marathon race merged after about 25 km with the half marathon runners. There were a lot of them and the race became a bit hectic and full of energy. I didn’t have weaving energy at that point and this part was hard. I kept trying to break up the race in 5km increments but at around 31km I did a bit of walking. I made a deal with myself to allow myself to walk 100 meters after every kilometre until there were 5-6 to go and that really helped me get through this part of the race.
There was also a marathon relay and those runners were a bit obnoxious because they had so much energy comparatively. One of them cut me off twice zig zagging across the course and I had to yell out and use my hand to avoid a collision.
The last 5 km were “doable” and I was able to get myself across the finish line in under 4:20 . There, the other marathoners and I were all in the same boat of hobbling trying to refuel with salami sticks, candy bars, and beer (sometimes Germany is just weird) and there was much lighthearted commiseration of our shared leg misery. I loved it. I am so happy with the day and that I let myself enjoy the race and also had a nice race after all the training.
112.1/200km for April.15 -
Well done @Laurz9191 ! Amazing2
