    2024 Goals:

    • Post weekly weigh-in on MFP for accountability. Saturday a.m. is my "official" weigh-in day, and I track daily on a separate app (for the visual). My digital scale only shows half pound increments & I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale.
    • Take measurements & log on MFP every month end
    2) Plan meals most days & prelog meals/snacks whenever possible on MFP
    • Try new recipes Unfortunately, no wall oven until mid-Feb or later & sad me, but try slow cooker & stove recipes... wall oven installed 2/26 but no new recipes yet.
      * lentil rice sausage tortellini soup ~ very good, recipe is keeper
      * glazed lemon cookies ~ everyone loved them at Easter dinner
    3) Exercise 5-6x per week (minimum 4x):
January: 5 days x2wks, 4x1, 3x1, 1x1 [1 wk lots of snow & 1 wk bitter cold so shoveling, treadmill & PT, 1 wk 4 day trips out of town]
    February: 6 days x1wk, 5x1, 4x1, 2x1 [2 wks overnight trips to visit parents]
March: 5 days x1wk, 4x1, 3x1, 0x1 [ack... prep house & food for Easter dinner; 1 wk overnight trip to visit parents]
    • Walk dog 3-4 miles, treadmill when necessary in winter, weights/my home version of circuit & other x-training
    • PT (physical therapy) exercises to strengthen arthritic knees & hip flexor
    4) MapMyWalk app You Vs. the Year 1,024km challenge started on Jan. 1
    • In 2023 I logged 726.88 miles, or 1,169.8 km & completed yearly challenge 11.14.23 :star:

    6) Participate in my favorite area races ~ I walk, I do not run
    • Registered 12.29.23 for Bellin 10K race on 6.8.24 & eligible to have race fee waived ~ rats, no waiver of fee
    • Register for my other usual events, and add other possible events
    7) Be considerate and loving to hubby and have fun together
    • Always a good idea
    8) Make efforts to keep in touch with parents, siblings and friends (most live in other towns or states)

Yesterday was ok. They are changing Tim's antibiotics again, and I need to learn a new technique for administering them later today. Sounds like it will be a little more intensive and take a little longer than the last set. I'm not afraid to give him the meds anymore though, and they gave him the new one yesterday at the infusion center so I know he won't react to it negatively. That is a huge bonus.

Not much planned today other than work. Will probably go to the grocery and pick up stuff for dinner.

@littleblackskirt - my foot is killing me. I ordered some compression socks a few minutes ago. I also confirmed the dress code today and will be wearing runners tomorrow.
I’m not sure how I’ll feel about this, leggings, jeans and sweatshirts are the main outfits being worn. I don’t think I’ve ever dressed so casual and gone to work.
Those grandchildren sure like to spread their germs.

@cschmitz110515 - it’s nice to get out for lunch with friends.

@pridesabtch - I hope this new antibiotic works for Tim, at least they’re trying to keep an eye on it.

I got my second day in today, I’m hoping tomorrow will be better. I was wanting to work with junior high kids but I think I’ll go towards elementary. We’ll see they might be even worse when I get there. I may graduate and go back to office management. 😂 at least with adult management you can speak more freely and give consequences if necessary.

@Snowflake1968 I'm sorry your feet are still painful. It's amazing how much sore feet affect your life. My osteopath says a lot of plantar faciitis is caused by tight calf muscles, are you stretching your legs? I can't remember if it's been mentioned before.

Yesterday we went for a walk, and when we were out I got a new pain in my foot, on the joint of my big toe. It was really painful and I had to limp all the way home trying not to bend my foot. Still not good today. My sister in law called in and was describing her aches and pains and how they affect her life. All the same things which are bothering me...the thing is, she's 80, almost 20 years older than me!
So I'm recommitting today, the only thing I can think of to help my body is lose weight and do exercises.

    JFT Tuesday 16th

    THINK before I eat ✅
No snacking (especially evening!) ✅ friend brought cake! We had it instead of lunch.
Walk with friend ✅ painful and slow
    Continue the clear out ✅

    JFT Wednesday 17th

    THINK before I eat
    Log everythnig
    Stay in the green
    No snacking
    PF exercises
    Back exercises

    5lb challenge

    SW 19/3 182
    CW 2/4 181
    CW 9/4 181

Last minute Birthday get together for my niece yesterday, so there was no grocery shopping. To be transparent, I had cake and ice cream for dinner.

Tim's new treatment takes more time and is more involved that the previous and for some reason I am really bothered by administering it. Like anything, I'm sure I'll get used to it, but for now I just cry thinking about it. Then Tim feels bad that I'm upset. I had to take him to the infusion center this morning for blood work, which is normal for us, but I still sat and cried. I'm a mess for no real reason. I really don't have time for this crud. After work, I'll give him his treatment then we can head out to trivia. Trivia is usually a fun night, so hopefully that will lessen my anxiety a bit. I'll probably shoot pool this evening while we play trivia. It gives me something to do other than drink, and since Tim can't drive not drinking is a must.

Not new to MFP - but newly focused and looking for support. I've not used the discussion / groups feature in the past, so I'm just figuring this out. My goals include moving away from yo-yo dieting and emotional eating to a more sustainable approach, get to a healthy and sustainable weight.

Welcome! This group is about little goals that turn into habits, or sometimes big goals that we need to ease into, or maybe just a place to feel at peace and be among friends. In other words it is many things and there are no rules other than kindness.

    I'm Nikki.

Took me forever to find my last post .. on page 50. I am gettting so down.. just can't shake this cold. Its settled in my lungs, so not much lung power. This week I am at least moving around more, so I am going to try and go to the gym today with hubby, and at least try and walk slowly on the treadmill, hoping to break this. This is going on over 2 weeks. Hindsite, I should have gone to the doctor, but I figured it was just a cold that had to run its course. I did test for covid, and its not covid.
My weight should be down, but its up because I am literally just laying around all day long. But ... plan is to get over this.
Yesterday was our 47th anniversary. I just made us a big pot of spaghetti. Tonite we are going to go out to eat, so it will be nice to at least get out. Anyhow.. just hoping on to say hi, welcome all the new people that have joined.
    Name is Joan. Age 73; 5'11". Been married 47+ years, 2 children, 2 grandkids ( + 3 step grandkids)
Lives in Missouri. I love to garden, go for long walks, quilt, sew charity stuff. My goal is to stay as "young" as I possibly can... to not only look good, but to feel good, have energy, be able to continue to get up and down gardening, biking, and walking.

    Goals for 2024:

    Staring weight: Jan 7, 2024: 209.0
Goal weight at the end of 2024: 175-180, and learn to maintain
Goal to lose 25-30 lbs this year to be in healthy range
    Weight Goals:
1st goal weight: 199 - reach this by March
2nd goal weight: 185 - reach this by July
Ultimate goal weight: 175- reach this by September
    Weekly Weigh-ins
    Jan 7: 209.0
    Feb 1: 206.2 (goal was 205)
    March 3: 206.2 (Goal was 199)
March 10: Did not weigh in
March 17: 207.2 -- not going anywhere!! Starting the 5 pound challenge
March 24: 205.8 -- did pretty good all week until yesterday. Hoping to get back on track today!!
March 31: Did not weigh ... Easter sunday, and we were out of town.
April 7: 203.8. Down 2 pounds in 2 weeks... but not feeling well, and not eating nearly as much, but also not exercising.
April 14: 206.8 -- no exercising at all, spending most of my days just sitting around. Hoping soon to feel better.

    JFT Wednesday
    - Infusion Center at 8:00
    - Work by 8:30
    - Meetings
    - More Meetings
    - Home by 5:00
    - Antibiotic treatment for Tim (30-60minutes)
    - Trivia
    - Limit 2 beers over 3 hours
    - Log food
    - Stay green
    - Home by 10:00

I think you have a good reason to feel like a mess! What's going on isn't exactly small. He's had some serious operations which require more care than you both probably realised! And it's hard to adapt to that change at first! But as with everything else you find a way through!

Don't be so hard on yourself! You're both doing better than you think given the circumstances!!

I hope you enjoy trivia :)

I haven't weighed myself since the start date of the 5lb challenge! Not sure what the scales gonna show when I do! But I thought I might aswell do it soon as it's not long until May!

However, I do have a NSV!
Ive always had to buy a size 14-16 which is a Large in UK sizes. Especially on the bottom half of my body.

I can now officially say I'm a size 12-14 in tops AND bottoms! Yay! So a Medium now :)))))

My biggest flaw at the minute is biscuits. Can't stop eating them 😩😩

Recap 4/16 T ~ rain by later today & maybe our rain barrels will get filled up
    1) Make soup for supper ~ yum! / log all food / 64 oz. water
    2) Walk dog  3.83 mi. happy dog & happy me
    3) Take clean clothes upstairs & put away / wash dishes / read / other? forgot to call Mom until too late in evening (oops), more digital decluttering yay  TA-DA!

JFT 4/17 W ~ frequent rain showers, both rain barrels already full
    1) Leftovers for supper / log all food / 64+ oz. water
    2) PT exercises
    3) Errands ~ done (bank, bread shop, pet supply store, gas in car) / update bank accts & budget s/s / pay prof org dues (retired status now, so not much cost, good b/c we need membership for ins. purposes) / check SS benefits status ~ STILL at step 2 of 3 in review process (SIX weeks now ~ RAS wasn't kidding when she said process drags on) / put away clean dishes / fill watering cans from barrels / call Mom & verify overnight trip / read / Amazing Race 8:30 / other?

Tomorrow I leave town for an overnight visit to my parents' (still living in the house I grew up in). I'll be driving Mom to her eye appt. (for her glaucoma & macular degeneration) in nearby town. Maybe I'll see one or more of my brothers if they stop in for a visit. Sister lives too far away and won't be there. My dad is the cook of the family, and he's really good. Because of the time I arrive, I'll only have one each supper, breakfast and lunch at their house, but I doubt I'll log food, since I never know what it will be. I'll keep portions in check. See everyone in a few days!

    5# Challenge (ends May 1):
    SW 184 on 3/18/24
3/23/24 = 182.5 most likely sodium/water drop plus keeping portions proper

@Bex953172 Congrats on your new, smaller size! I too have a bigger lower half, much to my own dismay.

@pridesabtch Hang in there! Hugs for you and Tim.

@mytime6630 Sorry you are still under the weather. Hope it gets better soon.

@littleblackskirt @snowflake1968 Sore feet & backs can be so painful! Hope you both feel better soon.

    Welcome newbies to JFT!
