WOMEN AGES 50+FOR MAY 2024

Regarding visitors (@exermom) ... if we had any, they would have to stay in a hotel where we live now because we have no spare rooms ... and they will have to stay in a hotel once we move to our new place because we have no spare rooms.

Both places have 3 relatively small bedrooms which have been designated as our sleeping room, our dressing room and our office.

I am not that keen on house guests.


Regarding conversation ... I often prefer if others talk and I will just listen. But sometimes the conversation dwindles out that way, so I will ask questions to get the other person talking again. People like to talk about themselves so if I ask a question about their job or hobbies, they will chat away and I don't have to say much.

I don't like to get into deep discussions about stuff for a couple reasons: I either have a completely different viewpoint from everyone else or I simply don't care.

Hi all

it's been a bank holiday weekend but I have managed to stay on track foodwise.

Thanks to all that asked about my son. His resilience is astounding and I am so proud of him.

We are looking at decorating his room to make study in there more appealing, and he will get a new laptop.

The funds from the planned trip to Turkey will go to that instead!

Welcome to the new people it's such a lovely group and being nosey and interested in people is helping me log on to MFP and log my foods!

We got the RV move and a lot of DH’s ‘stuff’ that was outside. Need to finish today. Not as bad as I expected. DH was reasonable during the whole thing. I was exhausted as 1 worked 2 hours picking up litter on the day side by the beach. Cinqo de Mayo crowd were messy! I helped moved the RV and some of the other things, then brought both dogs to the vet. Wicket for shots and a re-check on her dry eyes. Of course needs meds for the eyes all the time now. Along with Brownie who needed a third heart medicine. No shots for Brownie but they did manage to cut her nails without getting bit! LOL.

Today is to complete the move, I need to get bloodwork done. I will bring home something for dinner along with a few small things from Walmart. Another busy day. I won’t need to do litter for the Ranger, today as we have the move and bloodwork as excuses, but I can do some later, maybe. I get so tired so easily now. I hate it!! I used to be hyper and always busy. Must have worn my body out!

I feel better emotionally. No sugar yesterday and took MCT oil 3 times yesterday. No cravings and felt full all day. So, will be my new ‘thing’. I didn’t write yesterday, but need to copy/paste into a different format so my daughter and others that don’t have an apple product can review the story we finished and the one I am beginning. @Vickie, if you’d like, I can PM you a copy of the story I’ve started for your input. Or, if enough people on here want to read it, I can post here. It is a Sci-Fi mystery with weird creatures. I started it and was having fun with that too. All you fiction writers on here, do you develop your characters first? Or as the story goes on? I have defined the characters I want in the story but if the story calls for it, will include others.

Heather - I understand what you mean about the conversation, it makes it hard when you can’t be your authentic self and not being able to talk about the grandchildren would be difficult since they are such a huge part of your lives.
I hadn’t heard the story of how you and John met either. How wonderful!

Machka - a radio station here had a question posted yesterday about what a junk drawer must have in it to be a true junk drawer, I noticed on the answer no one said pens that no longer work. 😂
I personally have a very organized junk drawer. The drawers here aren’t very deep and I have very few of them so I have to keep on top of it.

Annie - I can’t imagine that grieving a spouse when being married that long is easy. They say you never really stop grieving those you’ve loved and lost, it just changes over time. I still find myself in tears sometimes thinking about my Dad, he passed in 2012.
You are handling not allowing yourself to become depressed quite well.

Michele - there is probably a lot going on to try to keep costs down at BK. Grocery prices have gone through the roof they don’t want to have a lot of spoilage to throw out. It’s hard managing what needs to be brought in when you don’t know what your customer base may be from day to day.
I wouldn’t come up with an excuse not to go in, I would just say no.

Rita - glad to read the move went well.

It is raining here today, started yesterday afternoon. DH was sent home last night and probably will be tonight too. It’s hard to know what a pay will be when they get cancelled. I wish he would have stayed at the park he didn’t lose hours there.

One of the teachers told me yesterday that she sees a huge difference in one of the girls I’m helping. She passed a test last week and that seems to have given her confidence that she can do it. I mostly just keep her on task, she is a sweet girl.

Only 8 more school days at this school. I’ll miss the people and most of the students. The one teacher that has decided she’s done at the end of the year is still the most difficult. Even the students call her out for not teaching or handling them.
