Hey all, Charlene here. I'm 58yo, 5'8", married 40 years, 6 kids, 9 grandkids, and I'm a caregiver for the elderly so they can stay in their homes.

It feels like July, here in the Midwest USA, east of Ol' Muddy. Unseasonably warm. ๐ฅ But on the bright side, the insects aren't bad yet and the cicada-geddon hasn't hit us, so far! ๐ค
Well, we have a problem with Clora Mae. Hahahaha, ok that's an understatement with a 35 year old motorhome. The stories I could tell about the work we've done on her; but I love that work - so. Yesterday, dead chassis battery (that's the battery for the engine, like in a car). When we were giving it a jump start with hubby's truck, I noticed the chassis panel light came on - and wouldn't turn off when I flipped the switch to the off position. So somewhere there's an electrical issue that has drained the battery over the winter. We disconnected it and brought it home, and put it on the trickle charger; the battery is relatively new and we think it's still under warranty if we need to replace it. We'll be back out there this afternoon, after I get off work.4 -
@kebass01 YAYYY below 155! sooo close! Is there anything you can do to push toward those 4 pounds? Do you need to go to bed a little earlier? Drink more water?
@deepwoodslady aww thank you! I feel like a stowaway in everyone's lives here, too; I agree about it being motivating! I love hearing people's stories every day.
Also, about feeling overwhelmed; and how it seems ridiculously easy to put pounds ON but also ridiculously hard to take them OFF. Our biology isn't logical in that! ๐ But, hey, you can do this! Patience, my young Padawan... ๐๐๐ Remember how far you've come. โค๏ธ๐ฏ

05/19-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)- I know what Iโve done right but I also know what Iโve done wrong. Gosh, I feel the gains of the past few months in my clothes and I hate it. It feels like a huge dry forest burning out of control. I know my little buckets of water will never put it out. Iโve got to stay the course and do more. It feels like Iโm overwhelmed and fighting a losing battle right now, when all I really have to do is turn on the hose and consistently put out the flames. Itโs not hopeless, even if it feels like it is right now.
05/20-188.2-(Trend Weight 186.5)- I enjoyed the outing yesterday. It was a beautiful, hot, sunny day. I spent some time thinking about where I am going wrong these past two months and I have some ideas and unfortunate changes to make, at least while Iโm going through my funk. It starts today. April was basically a frustrating weight loss month; lost 1.2 pounds. Didnโt reach my stretch or regular weight loss goal. At least it wasnโt a gain. Started off the month with indulging on Easter, then took an overnight trip to see the Eclipse and was also off plan. Then mid-month realized I had a problem with my bathroom scale โ apparently, I have been underestimating my weight for a while โ new scale new weight and it wasnโt pretty. Worked hard the last couple weeks, and at least I got down to below my starting weight โ which who knows if that was correct. For May โ my goal is to get into the 140s come hell or high water.
I have been successful with the exercise, averaging well over my 17K goal, and tracked a little over 250 miles again in April; year to date a little over 1,000; almost have way there. I am also on track for intentional miles with a little over 750 miles to date.
I have been keeping on plan with my cardio and strength routines. I alternate one day of cardio and then one day of strength. Although I do not like them much, I add one stretch type routine weekly. I have been having some trouble with some pain in my knees โ so found a stretching knee exercise that I began adding daily at the end of the month. I have an appointment with the Doctor May 1 to see what she says. Hopefully, I can continue to walk and wonโt have to take a break.
I started re-reading the first book of the Harry Potter series, along with my Hogwarts Challenge. I finished โThe Masked Cityโ and am on the third book of the Invisible Library Series โ โThe Burning Pageโ.
The next round of The Biggest Loser starts May 1. We have a full team, and I spent a lot of time in-between rounds getting ready. Looking forward to the start. The Hogwarts Challenge started; always a fun one. I rejoined Fat2Fit - I can do it.- My May Goals:
- Get into the 140 range!
- Log 150 intentional miles; and 250 in overall miles
- Alternate days of Cardio and Strength Training
- Stretch 3 days per week
- Average 17K steps per day
- Read almost every day

May 1: 151.2 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ซ ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ฆ๐ง๐๐ฎME! A good day for me yesterday; got it all done and had some Me time. I love a new month - a fresh start; and so glad to be back.
May 2: 150.6 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ช ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ฆ๐ง ๐ฎ ME! A nice swish - hope it stays off. Still working towards that old scale number (had to replace the old scale mid-April and the new scale was ugly and not nice). As much as I hate to say it, the new scale was right. Went to the doctor yesterday and the numbers matched to the decimal. Nice day yesterday - moved bingo night with the family to Wednesday this week. Noone won, but it is always fun.
May 3: 152.2 ๐ฃ ๐๐ฅ ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ซ๐ฆ๐ ๐ฎ I should keep my mouth quiet when I have big downside - it always bites me in the butt. Busy day yesterday. Got our morning walk done, then worked in the garden most of the day. Spread the rest of the soil and turned it in. Got the carrots, potatoes, and parsnips planted. Cleaned up the screened porch which was filled with garden stuff. Exhausted, so of course binged a little - but with all the exercise today came just under my calorie limit - with binging of course went over the sodium limit.
May 4: 151.6 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ช ๐ฆ๐ง ๐ฎ Another busy day in the garden, also busy with a relay race in another challenge that I am in - kept me busy all day.
May 5: 151.6 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ช ๐ซ๐ฆ๐ฎ What I expected (or a gain). Relay race for the Hogwarts challenge and the garden (finished) kept me so busy yesterday when dinnertime came I said I'm too exhausted to cook - we got subway, which has so much sodium, then I had pretzels, and cookies - ate all my exercise calories. Had two calories left for the day! I did take a beautiful walk in the morning yesterday along the Connecticut River and got this shot with the sun reflecting in the water - and they put the docks in, guess that means it's time to get the boat ready!
May 6: 150.2 ๐ ๐ ๐ช ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ฆ ๐ง๐ ๐ฎ ME! First smile in a while! I don't give them until I am under my last recorded low weight. Finally got under the old scale weight. Rested a little yesterday, didn't reach my step goal - but way over my 17K average goal. Tonight is bingo night with Mom- going to resist the junk!
May 7: 151 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ซ๐ฆ๐ง๐ ๐ฎ ME! Nice night with mom, noone won. I'm up on the scale - but was under my calorie limit and sodium limit - so thinking just normal flucuations.
May 8: 150.6 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ช ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ซ๐ฆ๐ง๐ ๐ฎ ME! Nice day yesterday - super warm. Hubby had a PT appointment so got some me time while he was gone. Monty and I snuggled on the couch and watched MY tv shows. I usually watch them on the treadmill. It was nice. The scale is kind of being stubborn - showed me a little dance on Monday - but it was just a tease. We got the boat uncovered. We were going to wash it today- but got a call from Allyson this morning - she's having trouble with her AC unit - so going over for a Daddy-Do to see what we can do to fix it (or replace).
May 9: 150.6 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ซ๐ฆ๐ง๐ ๐ฎ Ordered a new AC Unit - old one bit the dust. Busy day with the daddy-dos so had a hard tme fitting in the excercise - I felt very good about myself because I accomplished everything in my plan.
May 10: 149.8 ๐๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ช ๐ฆ๐ง๐ ๐ฎ ME! It's temporary, but I'll take it. Today taking Mom out for Mother's Day - so expect a rise tomorrow. Going to our favorite seafood restaurant. But I have seen the 40s and they look nice!
May 11: 150.0 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ซ๐ฆ๐ ๐ฎ Nice day with Mom yesterday to celebrate Mother's day. Today going to visit Greg's cousin (actually his Mom's cousin). Greg's Mom passed quite a few years ago, and his cousin is his closest Mom figure.
May 12: 149.8 ๐๐ ๐ฅ๐ช ๐ฆ๐ง๐ Missed my step goal, left the house at 6AM and didn't get back until 4PM - did get my workout done. I don't know how all you that work do it. I was exhausted and was just sitting chatting for 6 hours. Although I missed my step goal I did hit the 1,100 mile marker for my 2,024 in 2024 goal.
May 13: 149.8 ๐ ๐ฅ ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ฆ๐ง๐๐ฎME! I have been having some pain in my knees for a couple weeks now. When I had my doctor's appointment last week - my doctor said to keep walking, and referred me to an orthopedic doctor (appointment tomorrow). I have been pushing through to get my step and cardio goals done. The last couple of days, have been hurting a lot so slowed down a little. Just did a stretch workout and a couple smaller walks. I am anxious about what the doctor will say tomorrow.
May 14: DNW: ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ช ๐ฆ๐ง๐๐ฎME! Well, yesterday after my walk - my knee froze up and now I can put any weight on it. Perfect timing - as I have my othopedic appointment today. Did not weigh because I can't step up on the scale. Using crutches - hope they can do something - but it looks like I won't be getting in those walks for the near future. I won't let it de-rail me. I'll have to do some upper body workouts unti I get it figured out.
May 15: 150.2 ๐๐ช ๐ซ๐ฆ๐ง๐ ๐ฎ ME! Went to the doctor, arthritis in both knees, but concerned it could me a meniscus tear on left side (which doesn't show up on an xray). Have to wait for insurance to approve, then going for an MRI. In the meantime, stay off for a week or two, and ibuprofen to reduce swelling. Upper exercises, and eating less for the time being, and have to figure out my diet without having the exercise calories to rely on. Was a tad over yesterday. I did find some seated cardio and strength routines that I tried, but . . . .
May 16 150.4 ๐ ๐ฅ๐ช ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ซ๐ฆ๐ง๐ ๐ฎ ME! Got it all done, except the steps (won't hit that for a while). I'm thinking the garmin overestimates the seated workouts calories. Feeling a little better, I can walk without the crutches. One step at a time. And I had TOO much ME time!
May 17 151.4 ๐ ๐ฅ๐ช ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ซ๐ฆ๐ง๐ ๐ฎ ME! Very frustrating. I found a bunch of seated exercise routines and reached my 100 minutes of intentional goal - but it really apparent that the Garmin must over estimate how much I burned. I think today I won't record any exercise on my Garmin and just have a really light eating day. I have an appointment next Thursday (Yes a long way out) for an MRI. I was going to cancel because it seems to be getting better, and then I said "No, let's just do it to rule out anything major."
May 18: 150.6 ๐ ๐ฅ๐ช ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ซ๐ฆ๐ง๐ ๐ฎ ME! I took a short slow walk yesterday and did ok. Then the a lot of seated exercise to get my 100 minutes in. Didn't use any exercise calories towards my calorie limit and came 33 calories under my limit. I wasn't hungry - I don't eat because I'm hungry - never have. I eat because I like food. Today am celebrating Mother's Day and Allyson's 30th birthday - going out to lunch. Will have a very small breakfast and light dinner to compensate.I really would like to see the 140s again soon.
May 19: 152.6 ๐ ๐ช ๐ซ๐ฆ๐ ๐ฎ ME! It's what I expected. Out to lunch, and then that started me on the snacking instead of a light dinner. Way over the calorie limit and sodium - back to it today. Hoping the body quickly reverses my sabotage.

Well, it took me 3 weeks to recover from anniversary and vacation eating. I'm now below my April 30 starting weight. I actually feel like a few weeks is not too bad, in the big picture of things. I am being more mindful with logging, and being intentional about staying within my calorie allowance, and not eating my exercise calories.

Yesterday I mentioned the battery was dead, and we took it home to charge it. When we hooked up the charged battery, the engine started right up! But, the starter wouldn't disengage! We turned off the engine and the starter kept going; we could smell it burning itself out. ๐คฆ๐ณ๐คฏ
Normally, this setback would mean we'd come back with hydraulics, jack up the front end and get under there to replace the starter. But we're moving in 2 months, and we just don't have the time anymore, to chase down whatever electrical problem she's got that caused the starter to do that.
We sat together on the sofa, and talked about what to do. There's still life in her, so we put a listing for her for sale cheap, but if we don't get any bites by the weekend, we're going to try to donate her to a charity. We're both really gutted about this, but it has to be done.2 -

Ugh so sore. Got an inflatable pool and a splash pad for the little one Sunday and my hamstrings are feeling it. Did my 60 minute treadmill yesterday, but I was gassed and my heart rate showed it on my watch. I took it easy and ran less just to listen to my body. Trying to stay tight on the calories to get to my end of may goals, itโs hard.
@cattherien i am def upping my water and bedtime I canโt really control bc I lay in bed with my 4 yo til he falls asleep and then I go to bed right after (10pm). I need to work on my gut health even though I eat 1-2 yogurts a day bc things have slowed down moving out with less food consumption. Plus itโs always been a way of life for me.6 -

05/21-188.2-(Trend Weight 186.7)- I made ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE food choices yesterday thanks to some food my workers brought in to share. I really should have used my โno thank youโ manners! I was under calorie for the day but the carbs were through the roof. I ended up going without a proper dinner last night just to make up for it. Luckily it did not put me into a sugar drop binge or a hungry without my dinner binge. I really need to see a drop tomorrow on the scale so I will be pre-logging my food today to help me stay focused.

May 1: 305.4 No water aerobics class today, as I was needed to watch my youngest grandchild (a 3 month old girl ) while my son and his fiancรฉ took care of some phone calls with the insurance company. They were rear ended by a pickup truck yesterday, (the whole rear of their car was smashed in) and thank God they came through it with only whiplash. The baby came out without a scratch, even though the back seat and her car seat were shoved all the way into the back of the front seat. They were very, very fortunate. My husband took us out to eat afterwards to a new-to-us restaurant. The food was really good, and while I ate mostly healthy and stayed under my calories for the day, I did indulge in some breaded and fried zucchini. So we'll see what that's going to cost me, when I weigh myself tomorrow.

Hi all! I'm Mae, 5'8", 33 year-old female.
I started Carnivore on January 21, 2024 at 167 lbs. I recorded my weight every day, and measurements every 2 weeks. For the simplicity of this post, I'll keep it to monthly updates, and then goals for May (even though we're at day 21).
