I've got some face on, which is nice, and changed my clothes. Walking around is much easier and I can use my crutches in the walk through style, like Nordic poles. I can even get by with one crutch, but the physio told me to wait until I'm not limping. Very little pain.
I've got my physio appointment for the 17th.
Just got to find a way of washing my hair. John may have to turn on his shower for me, as I have no idea how to use it, and then I can have a quick one. (Mine is up steep stairs). The dressing is shower proof, but you are not meant to spray it directly with water.
Tonight is fish and chips delivery.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx
I'm glad you're doing all right after the surgery.1 -
Hi Gals,
Meg - welcome back
Heather - glad you are coming along so well
Newbies = welcome!
all the pictures - wonderful and who ever posted the sleeping dog, NO it doesn't look comfortable, but dogs (and other pets) sleep in the weirdest positions!
I think I mentioned that I was starting a dog sitting business.. this has exploded! I This weeks doggies.
I love that I am getting a doggy love fix without even leaving my house. I am having to book chunks of time for no dog, so I can come and go and get errands done. Because every week is like the first couple of weeks of having a new pet. they don't know you and you don't know them.

Ladies! I enjoyed the pics of pups and peonies! Our peonies were looking splendid before all the bad weather hit.
I do still live in Omaha and yes I teach nursing; nice to be remembered! Things at work are going really well after several years of awful leadership that tore our program apart. But now things are really looking up and I still enjoy it. I just turned 65 in May and don't have retirement on my radar although hubby wishes I would!
We had (don't recall if I told you) about $70K in damages from the tornado and hail storms in April and May. Last night the air conditioner went out, so today had to get a new one. I'll be out of money before the year is over LOL.
I was terribly nauseated last night so slept in the recliner in the den, which is how I heard the AC go out. "Sleep" is an exaggeration; I was awake most of the night. Slowly today the nausea has gotten intermittent and right now is OK. I hope I don't have to put up with this as long as I am on Ozempic. I loved Trulicity (although even on the highest dose it didn't suppress my appetite); but I called a ton of pharmacies and they say they have been told it's out for the year and they won't get any more. I tried Mounjaro several months ago but had to quit because the nausea was relentless and getting worse each week. Today I did well on calories, but not on the healthiest food because I was eating what sounded good at the time.
You all take care. This is two days in a row for me, so let's see if I can build this habit back day by day.
Meg from Omaha where more storms are predicted tonight. UGH8 -
Oh Kim I meant to mention how great it is about your doggie sitting! We always have a house sitter whenever we are away. I'm sure you do love the furry attention! Meg0

Today’s gratitude: no real bad neighbor drama.
Pip, yes she looks comfortable and confident no one will step on her or disturb her.
Machka hadn’t heard the term “nightmare disorder” but the recurrent nightmares I had as a child (and occasionally thereafter) seem to fit. Often said what a relief it was to wake up and get to go to work. ;} ((hugs))
Margaret, bravissima!
Vicki ((hugs))
Barbie turned the knob herself? :noway: what is it about our husbands’ socks that are so irresistible to our pooches?
Debbie so glad you got a sweet younger lady skin doctor this time. After a bad experience I refuse to see a male dermatologist. Hooray for the “all’s clear”!
Heather rejoicing the pain is lessening. Good luck with the shower.
Kim congrats on the new business! Wish you were about 400 miles closer
Arrived 10 minutes before the lab opened, only to find 7 or 8 people in line before me. With only one tech, knew there was no way I’d be able to get home, make breakfast in time to pick T up at the auto shop. Instead indulged in fat breakfast (French toast and bacon) at a local café. NOT the way to fuel better than yesterday. Good long walk with T helped the CI stay < the CO. Now just need to get up and to the PT exercises that I skipped this morning. . . and start the laundry. . . and and and …
Later, lighter, lovelies!

Jenn - glad they couldn't find anything wrong with your son. His symptoms remind me of when I once had an anxiety attack. Docs did the tests, all was OK. Turns out I worried myself into rough shape and have to guard against doing it today. I'm going to look up Cotton the house chicken.
Kim - what a neat business. Look at those sweet doggies. Yes, you get your dog fix and get paid for it too. Great idea.
Heather - nice the hospital called to check on you and your son brought you some delicious goat cheese.
Meg - wow, I didn't know you'd sustained so much damage. Hope that's the end of windstorms and tornadoes for a long, long time in your area. Sorry to hear about the nausea, not fun.
Barbara - grateful for no bad neighbor drama... have you had problems? Hope not.
Neighbor with the houseplants emailed me, they returned late last night. 500 miles in one day bookin' it to get home. She said 3 days into their trip, she went back in the motorhome to make a sandwich while her husband was driving. For some reason he slammed on the brakes and she went flying against the dinette. Big knot on her head, hurt shoulder and thought she might have cracked a rib but surmised it was just a bruise. They kept going and she said she stayed sitting down when he was driving after that. Ouch!
Got a call from the phlebotomist at Dr. Lisa's office today. Dr. Lisa wants me in there to check my A1C, lipids, and CMP if I remember correctly. This time fasting for sure, no more than 1 cup of black coffee. I'm anxious to see if my eating plan and exercise are working. I veer off the "no sugar" from time to time with a couple pieces of dark chocolate, always over 70%. Appointment is next Wednesday at 9:30.
Rainy, windy and all over nasty day. This should be the end of it for a while.

Jenn-strange symptoms with son-hopefully nothing but better to be sure.
Vicki-luckily I did not start feeling sick until she was in bed the last night-really hit when I got home. Finally feeling better (mainly)
Pip-your kids just always look stinking cute!
Barbara AHMODdon't think I am classifies as immune fragile exactly. My thyroid cancer is at a detectable level and we keep monitoring but I'm not on a specific treatment yet. But-it does take me longer to bounce back! (Plus, my youngest son was 3 when I was first diagnosed. Bless my kids-the thyca really isn't part of their conscious thought!
Beth-don't blame you for clearing out Mom's current room.
Annie-no need to be insulted-your dad is similar to my brother-they look like them and they sound like them but much of the talk is not them.
Good visit with family. Got medical power of attorney set up for SIL. Brother handled changes well. He thanked me for arranging POA because he said his wife needed it done. He is still in there and thinking. I had to remind other two brothers not to correct him-unless he is doing something dangerous, we just need to slip into what world he is in. He does not remember he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's but he has told me multiple times that he has broken his brain real good.
Oh-and to end my weekend-soon before family arrived, I hopped in shower. Went to put something up on shelf in shower (I knew it was getting unstable), pulled it down, it cut right into my forearm. Called eldest brother who was getting ready to drive over-told him to stop and get bandages, etc. Got my bandaged up a bit-we had pizza and salad and a good visit for a couple of hours. Everyone left-eldest brother and SIL took me to ER for 6 stitches. No real pain but the cut was indeed deep.
On that happy note I am off to bed. Made it through full day's work today but still a bit tired.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

Heather-almost forgot-sounds like you are doing really well with surgery. The post surgical pain is very different from the bone on bone before it. Slow and steady!4

Meg … welcome back!
Lanette … yes my balance was off for about 2-1/2 weeks after the surgery. It is fine now. I’ve experienced in the past what you’re describing with fluid/stuffed head and something like Claritin/Zyrtec has always helped. The inner ear is a fussy little bugger!

Margaret … the peonies are beautiful

Ginny … wow! Stitches are no joke…
Heather … so glad you’re healing!
Kim … yay for the new dog sitting gig!

Beth - ah, thanks. Glad your balance is OK now. I finally remembered I had Zyrtec in the medicine cabinet so it looks like I'm back on it for a few days. Glad we have these meds!
Ginny - Stitches! Glad you had brother and SIL to help you with bandages and get you to the ER. That was some nasty shelf.

Mmmm, made a fabulous salad for dinner tonight. I saved a portion for tomorrow as well. I’m grateful to live near a fabulous grocery store with all of the fresh ingredients and that we are fortunate enough to be able to buy them. When I sit down and do the math, this is expensive - but delicious.

I am trying to lose weight, but in a way that is maintainable and uses intuition. My diet today was balanced and filled with many different foods. I don’t have any cravings, probably because my needs are being met. Tomorrow should be good as well, since I still have everything prepped. So I have to figure out what food I want to make tomorrow night. It is hard to prep when I have 3 big guys (2 still growing) that plow through everything I make. They finished the salad, and had the full dinner their dad made. :0
I got in my 3 laps exercise tonight. I’m up to 1.5 miles in 1/2 an hour, which I feel is really great. I’m going to sit here for a while. Over 1/2 an hour starts to feel onerous. It might be that I do that level during the week, but add up a little on the weekend. My knee is holding. Just some pain in the first 1/4 mile, then it warms up and settles down. I just have to make sure I walk well and don’t step on a pine cone. They are everywhere!

Rita - that sounds like a lot to manage!
Barbie - Your puppy is so smart!
Heather - Wow! You are recovering so well! Fabulous! I’m glad you are staying off the stairs when you don’t have help. Sorry the evenings are a little rougher. Hopefully you can just go to sleep and wake up in the morning, refreshed, to a new day.
Debbie - hope you had a nice time at lunch!
Machka - This sounds like an unsettling experience, but it looks like you are figuring out how/why it can happen. I find that understanding the reason why for things really helps me to process and takes out some of the sting. Is there a way you can reduce your stress? Do deep breathing to bring in your parasympathetic nervous system? I had to do that with work and it really helps. Or maybe some reframing?
Lisa - OMG! Burning plastic? That’s horrifying. Is there anyone to report that to?
I try to look at the world from a funny place as well. I grew up with “If you can’t laugh, you cry,” which I find to be true with me.4 -
Good morning everyone!
Didn't get to sleep until 2.30, with all the annoying minor pains. Took all my pain meds together. After that, slept well until 6.30, when the new day brought renewed vigour! I've been up walking about with crutches, and done the prescribed exercises. I automatically do the bed ones all the time without realising it. This is Day 5.
Next test, the shower. I have no shower mat, but have asked John to see if he can detach the sucker grip handle from the bath and put it on his shower wall. It is very firmly stuck, so it may not be easy. I'm longing to wash my hair!
Ginny - How annoying for you. Glad you got the stitches. I must say, I'm a little afraid of the shower. I think I will order a mat today. I have always thought them so ugly, but it's only for a while. I have never used John's shower, so don't know how slippery it will be. It's very easy to walk into though.
Onward!!!!
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx3
