How About We Don't Delete Newsfeeds

Without the newsfeed, all there are is ads that I have no interest in. Thanks MFP, enjoy your oblivion
I like that idea myself for counting calories. I might just create a spreadsheet for this. I started that project a while ago, in fact, but need to revisit it. It would be great to find a software program for the PC that is compatible with different OS. But, in lieu of that, a spreadsheet would work. I knew someone who once did it the old-fashioned way with a pen and paper and lost weight.
Try Loseit...it's very much like MFP...try it on your computer first until you get accustomed to it7 -

Yes it does4 -
BRING BACK OUR FEED!!7

Premium(soon to be former) subscriber here. I feel so empty when I log in now and I can't see anything from my friends. What a disappointment. I think I am going to export my data, cancel my subscription and move apps too. I don't like this. I was more than willing to fork over my $ because it was a great food logging app AND allowed for socializing with friends in weight loss journey...but now I just feel lonely on here8

Yes it does
I am not seeing it on the app.
Do I need to use the website?
I found groups there.. do I need to have some friends before I can see them on a newsfeed?1 -
I am so upset that the newsfeed is gone! Please bring it back!5

@MargaretYakoda - yep, once you add some friends, you or they can write on each other’ newsfeeds on Lose it.4 -

I’m honestly tempted by this news.
I try so hard to encourage others here.
I’ve posted some about losing weight and exercising while living with a mobility disorder.
I’ve tried and tried to get a group together….
And just as I was beginning to see some people joining into something like a little support group (more on my newsfeed but some in a group here) they killed newsfeed.
I’ve seen people just drift away without the support.
Maybe they would have drifted away anyway? This whole thing can be hard. I know I have fallen off the wagon too…
But I have tried.
And it seems the only thing left is this community forum.
Which is difficult because I will say something and (I don’t want to break community guidelines) happens and it just feels like no matter what I say (redacted) comes along and just …. deflates me completely.
When I had the newsfeed I had a space where I could actually support other disabled, and diabetic, and neurodivergent individuals, without someone coming along and being (redacted)
I’m just really really feeling defeated right now
Also I just noticed that on LoseIt I can set a custom theme for my account.
Which includes themes like Pride, and cats, and gardening.
OK. I subscribed there.
My profile name there is Maarva Andor.
If anyone reading this has appreciated my comments? Send me a friend request on LoseIt. Please.
I’ll still stick around here for a while since I’m paid up for 10 more months…. But there needs to be some real support for the people who are trying to make individualized, supportive communities here.

I finally found the motivation to log back in and bam, an empty page. WTH are MFP thinking. It's like they forgot to look at the length of time people have been on here. I've not got that many friends here, but I like it that way, they were a great circle and actually wondering what they were up to reminds me to get myself back on plan again. Is there any way to find your old friends list so I can at least msg them?5
-
The friend list is still there via the website: https://www.myfitnesspal.com/friends0

Fitbit didn't roll back and there were thousands of complaints when I last checked. This won't either. Especially if it is the free users who are complaining.
@Kimberly_Harper I too stopped using Fitbit because they took away the challenges!! Even the challenges that were just for myself that were long hikes were fun!
I turned off the app update on my iPhone hoping the newsfeed lasts a bit longer. Some of my friends turned off their update as well. Will see how long the Newsfeed “stand off” lasts.1 -
I truly don’t see the point of continuing with this app anymore. I have ww for tracking. My newsfeed was a way to connect with others and share my progress. I think getting rid of it was totally a bad move.9

And just like that it is gone.4

I depend on the newsfeed for accountability!! Without it, I will go elsewhere to log my food, water, and exercise2

Well as far as I am concerned, Mfp has dug their own grave!!
I am getting used to LoseIt and am liking it. I went ahead and paid for a year, which I would have down with Mfp had they offered to keep the news feed. Yes with LoseIt there are some annoyances for Android users. But I a liking how the logging foods and goals work! I have set up weight, water, steps and a fiber goal!! I also use the intermittent fasting timer! And I LOVE the social part of LI!!! I think eventually I will be really happy there
Can you outline the social aspect of Lose-it please?1 -
A lot of us have moved to Lose It!! There is a group for former MFP members. Just search for it. The newsfeed will be as much as you want it to be by how many friends you add. I’m getting more comfortable by the day. So sad that after 12 years I am going to leave my MFP account for friendlier pastures. MyFitnessPal needs to change their name to MyFitness. 🙃7

You need to add friends which is done by email, or if you join the Mfp groups on LoseIt you can add friends when you click on their profile. It takes some getting used to as the Android app version needs some work. You have a newsfeed for groups and one for friends. You see their posts and exercises and can comment on them. It's a work in progress but similar to Mfp. The web version is more user friendly when getting used to the site all together. It's a great community of people so far! The issue with Android is sharing links, which is how people share photos through Instagram, Google photos and Amazon photos. You can share your lube links as well...except for Android. We can click on or share links unless we use the web version...hope this all make sense3 -

Thanks. I will have a closer look at LoseIt.3 -
Here to agree and support! I’m done with MFP now without my newsfeed and connection to friends. I’ll keep hoping and checking to see if it comes back. If you’re listening, MFP, you lost me.1
-
I have been an MFP member since 2011!!! I have used it to lose over 60 pounds and have been an active user on and off again throughout the years. I was VERY upset when you guys took away the barcode scanner and gave it to premium users only. I have stuck around and continued my health journey due to my friends and connections I have made on the community forms. I don't share my fitness journey on other social media platforms!! Why would you take away one of the helpful tools from this app?4
-
I've been here over a decade. One of my fave parts is talking to my friends about new lifting programs, or changes to diet or health issues. I like asking for advice and I like sharing accomplishments. On the Newsfeed! To not see it, feels like my friends have been taken away. I loved cheering them on, their achievements, their workouts. Very frustrating!

@resiaks come over to lose it. Has the social features mfp is abandoning. Good food database. Take some getting used to but at least 50 plus of my friends migrated over and many made instagram accounts too for fitness2
-
@cupcakegirl81 check out Lose it. Web version is easy to get around plus there’s a newsfeed. App is good too, but a little harder to find things
Web for connecting, App for logging food and exercise1 -
My Newsfeed is gone today. From the web version, and the app. I can't believe how lonely it looks now :-(.7
-
Bring it back!!!4
-
Hope the powers that be are reading all this and bring back the newsfeed.2

Yet true!
I lost interest in the streak when I discovered that it didn't track days we logged food or exercise and only tracked days we had MFP open for even a few seconds.
Maybe the OP did log. Maybe they liked the commentary on it from friends. Maybe it was a support that they appreciated.
It obviously matters to the OP. What’s your investment in negating everyone else’s opinion?1 -
Please bring back the News Feed2

Bring newsfeed back!! It has really bummed us out.0
