oceanmelody...Stunning pic! Thanks for posting. Had to look up where Watkins Glen is...beautiful park. I think I'm going to see similar scenery in parts of Newfoundland. Will try to post some pics if I can.

jonni82014...So nice that you will be able to see the grand twins. Our son lives in Ontario so only see him and family a couple of times a year but he skypes every Sunday so able to stay in touch that way.

Off to town this morning as have to pick up prescriptions. Not sure what the rest of the day will be like as more rain in the forecast. Nice to see others are posting on here and hope we can keep in going. Miss hearing from Barb. I know she left because of the newsfeed issue. I never really used that feature so can't say I miss it. I log my food and then check out the community part as I follow a couple of other threads but have started only posting here. Nice that it is a group of ladies that are similar age and find it interesting to have a glimpse into your lives.

    Enjoy the day.

    Good morning, ladies.

Looks like a nice sunny day after a few days of rain. We were under a tornado watch yesterday in the evening. Could see the very dark clouds just south of us that looked quite ominous. We just got rain with strong winds that lasted a couple of hours. Tornado warning was lifted about 8 pm with nothing touching down thankfully. I think some areas got hail though.

Hoping it drys enough that I can cut the lawn later this afternoon as it is getting pretty overgrown. Doing housework this morning as floors need tending to along with general cleaning. Having family over tomorrow for a bbq and looking forward to it.

    Enjoy the day.

Let's hope this group posting continues.

@Joy1580vb Was very happy for you that the WestJet pilots reached an agreement that would divert a strike.

I did not use the newsfeed, either. No loss.

Effective Monday for 9 weeks our front street is going to undergo the laying of new water and sewer pipes. Water has been transferred above ground for domestic use. Dust, dust and more dust. However it is great to see our tax dollars at work in front of our house. The infrastructure is 65years needs replacing , what I do know is other areas of the City are not getting the same attention. We think it is because the Construction crew is in the area building the Light Rail Transit system, so all neighbourhoods involved are getting an overhaul. At least we will be secure knowing that the pipes are new and we in the past have had our share of repairs.

Catching up on housework. Grass cutting today. Trying to get my game face on as to when I am going to clean the stove. And I have my team earrings on for good luck; for a game win tonight. Nerve racking.

Have a healthy day everyone B)

jonni82014...Yes I was happy to hear that the strike has been averted. Good that they are updating your sewer and water pipes. My daughter lives close to Capilano and a few years ago pipes burst in the alley behind her house. What a nightmare. No running water in the house for a week as they repaired. They set up a water tank in front of the house that people could use.

Got my yard all cut so looks nice. Starting to get cloudy so may get a shower later today. Made a potato salad for tomorrow and just have to do a veggie tray along with a fresh fruit tray. Will probably leave that until tomorrow morning. Looking forward to see family tomorrow.

Visiting Watkins Glen is like being in a Middle Earth landscape. I love the gorges and waterfalls in the Finger Lakes.
Went to Banff and Jasper years ago and it is so stunningly beautiful!

    Hello Ladies
I am trying to get into a group as I certainly need motivation. I am 73 and put on way too much weight this last year and need to get rid of a bunch. I would love to connect with you all. Thank you. I have a question, what is your BBCode? I have no idea what that is?

BBCode is a more technical way to "fancy up" the text in your post if you want to do that. If you're happy just typing in plain text, or using the click-on formatting above your post (for bold, italic, etc.), then there's no need to even think about BBCode.

Nice to see some posts here. Welcome to our group.

Had a nice Father's Day bbq with family and now relaxing watching CFL with hubby. Was cool today and just had a bit of a shower. Need to get back into my garden tomorrow as I'm sure some hoeing needs to be done.

Hope everyone has a nice evening.

    Good day
@AnnPT77 and 1fitgal2 welcome you have landed on the right page.
We are a small but mighty bunch
The Health and Wellness journey is our goal.
We like to discuss, suggest and support one another; plus share a bit of our everyday lives.

We had a very nice Father's Day meal. Chicken wings, veg and salad. The rainy weather held back just enough to get the wings done on the smoker.

A 9 weeks water and sewage project starts on our street today. DH (Dear Husband) has gone for a walk to check it out.

I am off to the Seniors Centre Treadmill 30minutes Stretch and Free Weights 45minutes

Have a healthy day everyone B)

Just checking in. Decided to try for a bike ride before the real heat sets in, but I think I was already too late. Went 22 1/2 miles which is the longest I’ve done for quite a while, but it really was too hot and the afternoon was spent on the couch recuperating.
For exercise I mainly walk/hike with an occasional ride.
Anybody do anything for exercise they really love?

Good evening ladies. Was a busy day for me today. Trying to get everything prepared for my trip. Watched the news tonight and they have a frost warning out which includes our area. Went out to the garden this evening and covered my tomato plants along with the cucumber row. I think everything else should be ok…hopefully. Will probably just be a touch of frost in low lying areas. Garden is quite high so shouldn’t get touched but I don’t want to take the chance.

For exercise, I mainly walk. Betty well done on your bike ride!

@oceanmelody Super achievement on your bike ride. I have not ridden a bike for a few years. It has about 5 gears that I have to master. Bike riding is a lot of fun.

Walking is what I love. In the River Valley close to our home .
Walking helps me to enjoy nature in all its splendour. Swimming is another favourite.

Today Geek Squad is going to come over to set up our new wireless printer. Not complicated to them but for me as it involves Apple and Samsung products. We have 5 items to set up. I did not want to attempt.

Today off to the Rec. Centre before the computer set up appointment.
60minute Walk fit class. 50minute cable weights.

Have a great day everyone. B)

Had a touch of frost last night. Could see it on the lawn when I took the dogs out at 6:00 am. Glad I covered the tomatoes and cucumbers. Will be going out to do a bit of hoeing this morning.

Think I'm pretty much organised for my trip. Organic inspection is happening tomorrow. Went over my books with hubby and all seems good. Hopefully it will go smoothly and quickly.

    Enjoy the day.

@jonni82014, thank you for the kind greeting! I have to admit, I'm not really here in this group. I'm "only" 68, but like to read threads/posts related to what's on my horizon. For example, I started reading in the "Maintaining Weight" part of the MFP Community while I still had quite a few pounds left to lose, just to start getting it straight in my mind what it might be like.

I hope y'all don't mind that I jumped in and answered a technical question (about what "BBCode" is), since I'm a retired IT gal, and wasn't sure whether others would answer @1fitgal2's question. :flowerforyou:

    Good morning all

The skies are clear today and forecast for is clear skies the rest of the week.
I will be out walking on the trails in the River Valley sure beats the track and treadmills at the Rec and Senior Centre.

I finished reading a book (library rental) on Intuitive Eating(IE). I found that I really had to focus and go back to some points in the book a few times to understand the concept. Only to realize that we are born to IE. I speak for myself, that I really messed up my mind and body by developing a dieting mentality. I am struggling to get away from reading all the hype (I call it now) about the next great weight loss program.
Step 1. I have cancelled all my newsletters that relate to the "dieting mentality"

The Geek Squad was in yesterday to set up the new wireless printer and 5 devices. Two hours later we have a firm understanding.

@Joy1580vb I thought about you , if your trip might be delayed due to the Westjet mechanics going on a tentative strike on Thursday.

For today I am off to walk the trails in the River Valley for 45minutes then to the Senior Centre 50minutes stretch and free weights.

    Have a healthy day everyone.

    Good morning, ladies.

I am beyond annoyed with Westjet and their labor issues. First the potential pilot's strike which was resolved...now mechanics issuing strike notice which is effective tomorrow evening. I am supposed to fly out Friday at 11:00 am. It is a nice direct flight to Halifax and so far they are saying it is still on schedule. I know that can change at any time because they are cancelling a lot of flights. I booked a fully refundable one way ticket with Air Canada as my back up plan. It's not direct as there is a layover of 2 1/2 hours in Toronto so I get into Halifax at 10:30 pm which means I will miss the meet/greet but at least will get there. Tour leaves at noon on Saturday to North Sydney where we catch the ferry to Newfoundland.

Will probably end up cancelling Westjet tomorrow evening. Just going to give it a bit of time to see how it works out. My ticket is refundable but as a travel credit which is ok.

Organic inspector came this morning and everything went well. She thought our records were very well documented.

Trying to get my garden in order before leaving. My tomatoes took a hit from the frost even though they were covered. Not sure they will come back.

    Enjoy the day.

@Joy1580vb The airlines sure know the right times to tentatively strike. The passengers are the ones that suffer and have to find alternative. Smart thinking on your part having a back up plan. I honestly would not have thought to of one.

Not the same but kinda regarding audits; always a relief when they are in good order. Subconsciously we know that we are doing a great job however, myself (banker) would get nervous when authority would step in to do a report card. Over the years our group of persons (10-30) would be audited as one unit. Nerve-racking.

For today my younger sister (60yrs Ha Ha) is coming over to learning basic computer skills. She was terminated from her job (26years) as the company is right sizing. She never exposed herself to learn simple computer skills like having an email. She now has to login into Gov't websites to apply for benefits. Her husband did not expose her to the computer; however I guess she never wanted to. Good bonding.
At our house it is a completely different story. I continuously share with DH everything that he might
have to know or contact in the event of my death.

    Just for today: Always learning.

Have a healthy day everyone B)

jonni82014 How nice you are teaching your sister basic computer skills. I'm sure she will appreciate it. So much is done by computer now and it has turned into a needed skill.

Was pleased to see that Westjet strike is off the table for now as they resume negotiations. Will wait until this evening before I cancel my Air Canada booking. Will have to keep watch over this situation for my return flight from St Johns and if needed will book an alternative. Relieved to see that I will be able to fly Westjet as it is a direct flight and will be getting into Halifax in time for the meet and greet. Excited and looking forward to this trip.

    Enjoy the day.

@Joy1580vb Thanks. There is still much to learn. Sister is a quick study. Good bonding for us, as all of the time was not spent on learning
So pleased to read from you that you can be more relaxed travelling; knowing that you do not have to make alternative plane plans.
    Have a spectacular time.

Today off to the Rec Centre 50 minutes cable weights. Might opt out of 45minute track walk and get lost in the River Valley trails. It's going to be a very warm day.

Have a healthy day everyone B)
