That is not good re your hip. Is that an issue you are continually dealing with?
Made the buns with granddaughter yesterday. She did most of it with me helping out with forming some of the buns. She made the dough and even did the yeast part. She said she hasn't done very much using yeast so it was a good learning experience for her. Buns turned out very tasty according to everyone else (I did not partake). Today will be a banana cream pie as she mentioned awhile ago that she tried making one with her mom but it didn't set very well. I have a baked shell in the freezer so should be a quick process and not heat up the house like it did yesterday with the oven. Going out to a local restaurant for supper.
Have a more exciting day tomorrow as off to a Metis event which is located just south of our town. The facility is called Metis Crossing and is set up with a restaurant, hotel along with interactive events. I booked us for the wildlife tour with includes white bison, wood and plains bison along with elk and percheron horses. Will try to take pics.

both the baking and the animal event sound great!
Today was yoga and gardening here. Finally have all my daylilies out of harm’s way(behind a fence).
Tomorrow if the weather is good we plan on going to a free outdoor concert.
My hip is mostly good but gets thrown out of whack too easily. I try to do some PT for it.

Had an amazing day today with son and family. Visited the Métis Crossing. What a beautiful facility. Opened in 2022. Has a museum and restored buildings from the 1800’s. Went on our wildlife tour seeing elk, Percheron horses along with plains and wood buffalo including the white buffalo. Had supper at the facilities restaurant. Had a fish dish of pickerel which was the best I have ever had. Everyone said their meals were outstanding. Will try to post a couple pics tomorrow. Son and family have now left. Was a wonderful visit.

so happy you had a good time.
we went to a free concert and had Mexican food.0 -
Free concerts are always time well spent.
So hot and extremely dry here. Hubby made the tough decision to work his wheat crop under so he is out there now with the discs. Sad but there is simply not enough of a wheat stand to warrant swathing/combining.
Was out in my pathetic garden this morning. Weeded through the potatoes and hilled them up. Will get something off them for sure. Debating whether to hoe my pea rows under as very sparse and small. Lettuce, dill, carrots and cucumbers all look like they are struggling but think they will produce if we get some moisture soon. Will probably hoe down my corn.
Percheron horses.
Little ones.
White bison. Funny how some of the calves are reddish but come from white female and male.
Hard to see some of these as taken through the fence. Plains bison. We were actually inside the fenced area in the suv. Got photos but from a distance.

the animals are beautiful—are the white bison albinos? We have a herd of white deer at an old abandoned army depot.
sorry the weather has been so bad for crops.
We have had no rain until today. Going away tomorrow for almost a week and hope there is some rain while we are gone so everything doesn’t wilt in the garden.
it has been too hot to walk much. Trying to stay cool inside. July is not my favorite month.0 -
Enjoy your week away.
Finally back down to 169 which was my pre holiday weight. Nineteen pounds to go to my goal weight.
White buffalo are considered sacred to Native Americans. Can be albinos or caused by some other genetic condition. They are quite unique.

Haven't been active on MFP for a long time; wasn't really planning to post again or to keep up with the community pages. However, a habit started back more than a dozen years ago that was a daily part of my life stays in the memory banks!
I moved to another state (to be near my son's family) and turned 80 while waiting for my furniture shipper to arrive this past March. Now that I'm mostly settled into my new apartment, I find myself revisiting old goals that had been simmering quietly on the back burner.
I saw the 'new' cardiologist last Friday and didn't like that his report described me as morbidly obese … although I truly do personally feel that I can gain a great deal of renewed self-confidence and resiliency in my life if I were 50 pounds lighter than what his scale read. … So, back to MFP meal tracking and working on lightening up as best I can, going forward.
In the past, being active on the boards was a big motivator to stay active on MFP and I did lose 60 pounds using the app; albeit over an extended time frame. Not being active the past few years has seen 15 of those pounds slip back on and they have to go!
So here I go. Day 1.

Welcome nsk1951. Good for you in getting back on track with mfp. Impressive that you had lost 60 pounds in the past. I find it helps me to post on here and use it to keep track of my weight loss. I'm 75 and trying to get out of pre diabetic status. A1C is slowly coming down and will probably get tested again in the next couple of weeks.
Nice pleasant day today. Getting caught up with laundry this morning then will get back into the garden and tackle some weedy areas.
Enjoy the day.

Thanks for the welcome Joy1580vb. It's nice to know that I've 'been heard'. This seems a friendly and active thread; I've looked in on it from time to time, and posted to it when it first appeared.
I finished day 1 a little over the calorie goal MFP gave me when I reset my goals yesterday, but they were still in the weight-loss range. It'll be a month or 6 weeks before I make any judgements or tweaks to the plan I'm planning to follow. In the meantime, it'll be good to know what my current eating pattern shows before making changes to it.
Laundry and gardening! Two things that are long time favorites of mine. I no longer have or am able to care for a garden, but laundry is a never ending task that welcomes me anytime I turn my attention that way! 😜

I find it helps to keep me on track by logging my food intake each day. I set a calorie limit of 1200 calories and seem to be able to keep within that range. Good you are allowing a bit of time before making any adjustments.
Thinking about taking a Danube river cruise next year. Have made some initial inquiries and checked out pricing. I will be travelling solo so need to watch for river cruise lines that have reduced single supplement as it's pretty pricey. Won't book until later in the year but nice to see the different options.

welcome to nsk1951! Hope you stop by often.
I am on a family vacation right now. Not 100% successful on diet or exercise. So much humidity! But very much enjoying time with the granddaughter.

Melody, enjoy your time away!
Off for groceries this morning. Other than that, not much planned for today. It is going to be a hot one.

Got in touch with the a/c company that installed our unit. Came out yesterday and unit had absolutely no fluid in it. Appears to be leaking at multiple points. It's only 6 years old so not happy that we are now faced with putting dollars into a unit that is unreliable or replacing it. May wait until next spring and replace it.
0 -
not good about that a/c.
still on vacation but home tomorrow.0 -
Safe travels back, Melody.
So hazy today. Checked Environment Canada and they are saying very poor air quality for our area. Can smell the smoke outside.
0 -
safely home, very tired.
so terrible about those fires! Hoping for relief soon. And that being inside helps your lungs.0 -
Welcome back! I'm sure you had an enjoyable visit. Another smokey day. Not sure where this is all coming from as we have had some rain recently in northern Alberta. Might be coming from B.C.
Been lazy since my company left. Need to get back into my routine. Still sitting at 169. Will get back on my treadmill today as walking outside is not an option due to the air quality.

I read on the news that a town 2 1/2 hours north of us is under an evacuation alert due to a wildfire. The fire started as a result of a lightening strike yesterday. The town is home to about 7,000 and in a heavily forested area.

stay safe, Joy! I think I saw Manitoba has fires too.
Still recovering from the trip. I forced myself to take an evening walk. Weather is much cooler.
More adult child drama. I have to stay focused on what I can and cannot control.

Adult child drama can be exhausting. You have the right attitude for sure. Well done on getting out for your walk.
Down just a tiny bit on the scale this morning so happy about that. A/C guy got back to me with a quote and it is very reasonable. Was thinking about waiting until the spring to replace the unit but think I will go ahead and do it now. Just waiting for an email quote from him as I want to do a bit of research on the brand and model # he is putting in.
Not as smokey today so may be able to get out more.

chair yoga and gardening and errands today. Trying to de-stress but it is taking lots of effort.
nice day but the forecast is for hot weather again. Considering I was on vacation the scale moderately liked me. Good news on your air conditioning !0 -
Quick trip to town this morning to pick up dog's prescription at pharmacy (he has epilepsy). Also stopped at grocery store for some fresh produce and luncheon meat just in case I end up feeding the a/c guy. He's a big guy (6'6") and looks like a linebacker! Finally got an email from him with his quote and replied that I accepted along with a request to let me know when he is coming. He had indicated maybe tomorrow or Friday. Will see what happens.
Good that the scale moderately liked you. Always more difficult to stay on point when visiting others.
Enjoy your day.

weather is getting warmer here—have to keep watering everything in the garden.
Did not get to walk today. Errands and picking raspberries. It is amazing how many more there are when we have a fence and deer don’t eat them first!
Nice of you to try to feed the repairman!
0 -
Raspberries are my favourite fruit. Used to have quite a large patch in my garden area but did away with them along with my strawberry patch a few years ago.
A bit more of a drop on the scale and I am now down .5 of a pound in the last week. Slowly coming off and happy about that.
No word yet from the a/c guy.

record heat—tried to walk around an airconditioned dying mall but that did not last long. So much was closed to the public.
Rain tomorrow—I hope! Our water bill for vegetable gardening will be sky-high!
Good job with scale!

Didn't have to feed the big guy. He came early in the afternoon and left at about 4:00. A/C is up and running. Had a thunderstorm roll through last night with lots of thunder/lightening. Only a small amount of rain.
Got a call from my brother (lives in BC) and we are meeting up next week for our annual siblings lunch. Will be minus one as my sister passed away last year…..so will be 3 couples plus my brother-in-law. It will be nice to see everyone again. My brother and his wife will be coming to our home after the restaurant lunch for a further visit. Think we will just do a bbq hamburger/dog type thing with a couple of salads. That way I won't be spending most of my time in the kitchen.
Hope you are getting your rain. I'm sure it will feel nice after scorching heat.

your get-together sounds very nice.
Well, I think it drizzled for five minutes—no rain in the forecast either.
Not a very productive day today. Got some paint but could not face starting the project. We are hoping to shoot some photos at a flower festival tomorrow.

Time flew away for me since I came back to MFP.
Sounds like a lively and active exchange between Joy and Melody. Are you both in Canada? I was in Western New York until this spring. Now I'm in Missouri … pretty much smack-dab-in-the-middle of the USA … and HOT and humid! … I actually broke into a sweat after sitting on the patio yesterday for all of 10 minutes … and I haven't sweated in years! But it felt so good on my old bones and muscles that I wanted to stay out longer but was to hot to do so!
I checked my weight this morning and it's what it was when I started. In between I've had some edema issues that made recording a weight would be counter-productive, but this morning I was back to normal feet/legs.
When I had my patio sitting today, there was a smell of smoke on the air that was pretty strong. It gets so hot here that grass and brush fires are kind of common, especially if we haven't had rain for a while. Hopefully we'll have some soon, just hope not too much when it does come. The last rains had a lot of flooding in the lower parts of town.
