well it turns out I have to have another mammogram and ultrasound too. I have to wait till early July. Trying hard to not feel stressed.

Hope everything turns out well for you. On my mammogram report it stated that the area of concern was unlikely to be cancer but they could not rule it out due to dense tissue. They are using a new machine and it may simply be a technical issue (according to the report). Think from now on I will ask to get both the mammogram and ultrasound at the same time.
That's a long time for you to wait.

not happy about having to wait. Using all my energy to not stress out.
Apparently this happens a lot, though, and the vast majority of the time it is nothing. And I don't feel anything amiss. But it is just a dark cloud that no one needs.Tried to walk by a local creek and also work on the vegetable plots so I can plant more stuff. Keeping busy so as to not think.
Hope you have a happy Mothers Day and that the fires have died down!0 -
Happy Mothers Day, Melody. Hope you enjoy your day.
We are going for brunch at the town that is under an evacuation alert. I called the restaurant yesterday and the owner said they are going ahead with it even though the alert is in place. He said he had a couple of cancellations and hoped others would still attend. I checked out the menu and they have breakfast and lunch options. Will stick with the breakfast options (I think) and try not to overdue. Just had a bit of fruit and coffee for breakfast. We are meeting up at 11:00. My birthday is on Wednesday which means another eating out day with hubby. Yikes!

Hope you had a nice brunch. Hubby and I did a light restaurant meal and then cheesecake at home. Had not had a cheesecake in at least a year. Enjoyed it very much and now I probably won’t have another for months.
Scale does not like me lately. I was down a bit today from yesterday but still too high.
Both my girls were weepy today for different valid reasons and I cannot fix any of it.

Hard to deal with family member upsets. Hopefully things will improve. All you can do is be supportive and lend a listening ear.
Scale stayed the same which surprised me with eating out. Usually salt is an issue. The brunch and company was very nice. Received a couple of nice little gifts which was very much appreciated. As for cheesecake, they had a couple of delicious looking ones at the brunch but I thought of sugar and stuck to my eating plan. I did hear from others how good it was.
Laundry today as I have sheets and other bedding to do. Cloudy out which is good and maybe showers.

a sunny day here—we went to the lake for a picnic. As soon as I settled myself on the rocks my phone binged and it was a message from my phone provider that said “Welcome to Canada!” That has never happened. I do not think any of the water I saw was from Canada either, as Lake Ontario is rather large. I hope they don’t charge extra for the one photo I tried and failed to send! I did take a screenshot of the message.
We tried to hike but there was too much mud, so my exercise was gardening instead.
Canada over in the distance beyond my view.

What a pretty picture. Looks like such a nice serene area and perfect for a picnic.
Still holding off a few more days before I get my garden planted. Will be picking up tomato plants on Thursday when I go for my ultrasound. I went through my freezer and see I see I still have a lot of frozen tomato sauce bags so I don't have to make any this year. Will only get a couple of plants along with one cherry tomato plant to put up by the house.
Doing a bit of yard work this morning.

it was very serene!
Today we dropped off some soil samples for testing, then took a short hike nearby. More humid than yesterday and tonight it is raining.
This week we are going to start the rounds of garden stores and sales for plants.0 -
Had a nice steak supper out and a few well wishes from family and friends for my birthday.
Took it easy today and tomorrow will be getting back to yard work after my ultrasound appointment. Hopefully I don’t have to wait long for results.

Good luck tomorrow!

Got my ultrasound results and everything is clear. They checked the breast and the lymph nodes so a very thorough exam. The recommendation is that I return in six months time for a mammogram of just that breast again so they have a good clear finding. I'm relieved as the exam was quite painful which is unusual. Have had ultrasounds in the past but never one that caused me pain so I'm not sure what was going on. Had all sorts of thoughts swirling around which goes to prove that it is not good to overthink things.
Did some grocery shopping and a bit annoyed as I bought a new Canadian made peanut butter that I thought was natural. Read the ingredients when I got home and it contains soy which I like to avoid as it can interfere with synthroid that I take. I tasted it and must admit that it is very good. I find it hard to read labels in the store that carefully. Glad that I just bought a small jar so will use it up then search for another brand.
Picked up a couple of tomato plants. One is a large potted beefsteak that I will put out into the garden and the other is a cherry tomato that will be left up by the house to enjoy. Also got quite a large hanging basket of petunias that I hung out this morning by the front door which is where my hummingbird feeder is. So nice to see the hummingbird at it this morning. The hanging baskets are so expensive. Need to get into Costco to buy a few more. Think they will be more reasonably priced.
Got my potatoes planted this morning and will work on the peas along with a few other items this afternoon. May get rain tomorrow if the forecast is right which will be timely.

so glad all is well—hope your good luck will rub off on me. I am trying very hard not to overthink.
Have been doing so much yard work. Looked at a farm market about buying plants but I thought the prices were excessive so will keep looking. Tomorrow we are going to look for plants at a local herb farm. It is a beautiful place and she only sells one weekend a year now. She must be close to 90 and her husband died recently. I don't know how she keeps it up but she does have help. She is a true expert.

That is so nice to hear someone being so active at the age. She must really enjoy her herb farm. I'm sure you enjoyed your visit. Look forward to hearing about it.
Getting the rest of my garden in today. Shouldn't take too long as I did about half of it yesterday. Having quite cool mornings here so think I will wait a few more days before putting the tomato out. Keeping it up by the house during the day and bringing it in at night for now.
Weight is staying the same. Trying to cut back on carbs but finding that more of a challenge than cutting out the sugar.

The herb farm was beautiful as always. Got there about an hour and a half after it opened and the early birds had already depleted some of the stock, but we were still able to get a full boxload. Could not plant any as after we left it started to pour!
There is a greenhouse and a display garden and it is all immaculate. If there is someone who had more knowledge of herbs and the more unusual perennials I would be surprised.
Wish I could have gotten some exercise but the weather did not cooperate. The scale is disappointing. Up and down but the base number wants to creep up.
I did make it to 3500 days of logging though.
Hope Cat is ok.

We haven't heard from Cat in awhile. Hopefully she will pop back in.
Had a machinery fire at our farm yesterday so called 911 emergency for help. It was contained in the machine (combine) but we were worried it would ignite fuel tanks that were in close proximity. We were unable to put it out and with extreme dry conditions did not want to risk it spreading. All our fire responders are volunteers and arrived quickly. We are in between two towns and they both responded. One was actively involved with the fire and the other truck stayed on the road in case the fire spread to our buildings. Took about 3 hours to get the fire out and thankfully it did not spread.
Totally stressed and did not sleep much last night so will be a low key day. Did come down a pound on the scale so now sitting at 171. Taking a long time to get to the 160's but coming off and happy about that.
0 -
oh, no, three hours must have been awful. Understandable if you are stressed out. Glad it did not spread!!!!
You would love to have our rain. Almost every day here has some rain lately. Today was no exception. Sometimes it is drizzle and sometimes it is hard and fierce with high wind and thunder.
Was able to do just a wee bit outside today.

Overcast and cool today. Still waiting for that rain. Forecast says we are getting some over the next 3 days…will see what actually happens. So much destructive weather happening south of the border. My thoughts are with those affected.
Got my garden planted except for my tomato plant that is still sitting up by the house. Cut my lawn for the first time yesterday and looks so nice now.
Trying to cut down on carbs but I see that a good portion of my meals is carbs so finding it a challenge. Didn't have toast this morning and had two eggs as an omelette along with a serving of blueberries and a bit of cheese. Not much for carbs so far but will see how the day unfolds.

Hi! I'm new to the group and to MFP. I'm seeing a lot of posts from two of you and it sounds like you are both outdoors people like me. I'm 5'6, 176 pounds in OK and CO. Today is the 1 year anniversary of my son's wife who died of cancer at 30 and we are planning an honoring get-together this evening with family. I was the primary care-giver for the two years of her fighting it, and he and I are both working at healing. Food has been my "go-to" and I'm fighting to get away from binge eating.
Also, today - it sounds like we may get some very severe weather here in OK! Where are others located?

Welcome to our very small group! So sorry to read about your daughter-in-law's death from that dreadful disease that takes so many. I am one of the fortunate survivors and went through surgery and treatment ten years ago.
I am 75 (5'4", 171 pounds) and struggling with my weight. Have been diagnosed with pre diabetes recently and that was the wake up call to get serious. Have lost about 17 pounds so far from last spring and it is coming off very slowly but steadily. My goal is to get down to 150 pounds. Will still be overweight by a bit but if my A1C levels are good will try to maintain. Live on the prairies in Canada (Alberta) and hubby and I are grain farmers (organic). Over the next few years we will be phasing out of farming and putting our land into hay.
Hopefully you will be spared from that severe weather. Drop in when you can and let us know how you are getting on.

Thank you, @Joy1580vb. It looks beautiful where you live and coming from a farming family, I know that is a tough life! Congrats on your weight loss!! I hope you are already seeing improvement in A1C levels. I'm so glad there is this age group and I bet more will join when they find it.

welcome to our group! I am 72 and 150 pounds and five foot two. Trying to get closer to 140 but it is extremely difficult. Love to be outside walking and gardening. I live with hubby in Western New York.
So sorry to hear about your son’s wife. And at such a young age. Your family has been through a lot.
Extreme weather is getting more prevalent and I lived in the Midwest for a while and have seen how destructive it can be.
I found that logging my food every day helps me to not balloon out. Even if I am not entirely accurate just thinking about having to log a big meal makes me think twice.

Thanks, Oceanmelody. It's funny you say that about logging food! This morning the site opened to something about logging food and I had totally forgotten about that feature! I will definitely get back to doing that. I have joined a couple of challenges to keep me coming to the site daily and will incorporate that tool. As I said to Joy - it sounds very beautiful where you are!
Our celebration for Jen was so lovely with the family there who had supported her and my son throughout the journey. I really overate and wake up today .4 lighter on the scale….does it take a while for gain to show, I wonder?
Anyway, I'm very glad to be here with you guys!

Good morning, ladies.
I find logging my food helps keep me on track not only for calories but also I like how it shows the proportions as to carbs, protein and fat. I'm trying to lower the carbs and up the protein which I'm hoping will help with the A1C level and get me out of pre diabetes.
Had a very small little shower yesterday and it was so cold. Shower didn't even register in the rain gauge but forecast is for more today and actual rain tomorrow. We will see what happens.
Got a notice from my library holds that the book I have been waiting for since September is now available. I postponed it as I have no time for reading right now. Will try to get it again later in the fall.
Was doing my walking outside this morning but got interrupted by our county gas meter reader. Said he had to replace something on the meter so brought my dogs back inside so they wouldn't bother him. Will go out again this afternoon as I want to continue with this little bit of daily exercise. I think it is helping.
Enjoy the day.

I've done my tracking today and it definitely helped me to see my protein, etc. Thanks for the reinforcement. It is 6 pm here and just hoping I don't eat any more tonight!
We have such a beautiful day after the night of storms and I will be out for a walk.
I'm bringing everything out of my closet and doing some decluttering. I still have my exercising to do so this should all keep me busy.
@Joy1580vb What is the book that you are looking forward to reading?

My day was too busy—walked to town for art supplies, then went to vote in the school elections. Have never seen a voting line this long in this town. Then did a lot of yard work— clearing out the area from our dearly beloved departed crabapple and a whole bunch more. Now I am at rest!
It is supposed to be rainy for the next few days here. Thus my push to do outside projects today.
Yes, logging keeps me from going crazy with calories!

Logging made a real difference yesterday. I was going to eat some cashews late night and I kept thinking about the fact that I would have to log it and I was already 39 calories over my daily target. I discussed the option with myself for probably an hour(!) and I know that if I wasn't logging I would have had the nuts.
I went for a walk with my niece who lives in the same neighborhood. She is on a shot to help her lose weight, she is doing great with 50 down and 100 to go. My sister and I are thrilled because she has watched her friends marry, have kids, etc and now has assistance and motivation to get back to who she used to be. Although I have much less to lose, she has been very motivating for me and we share healthy food choices. She has been passionate about how cutting out sugar, caffeine, alcohol has changed her attitude toward life and cleared her head. I think this is the main reason I decided to pay for MFP instead of doing the free piece. I've always thought "I can do it myself" but I haven't been able to do it myself and it is time I invested in myself. I also signed up for a tapping series of lessons through Daily Om for Losing Emotional and Physical Weight.
Everyone have a good day! Sunny here and the temp couldn't be better!

363days The book I have been waiting for is called The Women by Kristin Hannah. I suspended my hold until the fall.
So nice that your niece is taking charge of her life and making major changes. Good for her.
Melody what are you planting to replace the crab apple tree or are you just leaving it as is.
Well this 3 day rain event hasn't resulted in much for precipitation. Some areas got a significant amount but we didn't. It drizzled through the night and is supposed to continue today. I checked the rain gauge this morning when I took the dogs out and looks likely barely 1 mm.
Enjoy your day, ladies.

congrats to your niece!
about my tree—I cannot decide yet. Something not too tall or wide. Dogwood, redbud, Japanese maple? Whatever it is we will have to protect it from being girdled by chipmunks. We are probably going to have rain for several days. Between that and my carpal tunnel acting up I avoided exercising much of anything.
0 -
Good morning, ladies. Had a bit of much needed rain overnight and looks like a rainy day today. My garden will be pleased.
Carpal tunnel is so painful. Hard to do much during a flare up I'm sure.
I'm getting used to counting carbs and being mindful of calories in my food choices. The carb totals isn't exact as I don't have premium with mfp but gives me a good idea. The fibre isn't being subtracted from the total but I'm ok with that. Just trying to keep my protein up and carbs in the moderate range. Didn't realise how carb heavy my meals were until I started tracking.
Back to using my treadmill today as it is too wet for walking outside.
